Slipping out at dawn was her first mistake, as he will search the world for her forever
Only the Lovely is the third book in The Sinful State Series by Isabel Jolie. This is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint for me with this book. I was enveloped into the story of Brie Anderson (aka Sophie Dubois) and Adrien d'Avricourt. You end up diving in head first and barely coming up for air...or water...or food...or sleep. After all who needs those when you have a new book by Isabel on your eReader or in your hands. It all started with one night, one perfect weekend on a yacht that changed his life. He was certain he "... had found something true in a life built on illusion." But when she slipped away from him at dawn he was determined to find her. He searched all of for her and now three years later he finds her standing in front of him once again. She may have gotten away once but he will not let her slip away from him again.
I really loved this intriguing, intelligent, tension filled, slow burn, mystery with a lot of spark and sizzle romance. I loved the way the characters are revealed, layer by layer and then there are more when you think you are at their core. This is a fantastic addition to an outstanding series.

I absolutely loved every second of this thrilling story! The romance and spice was top tier, the main characters had sizzling chemistry, the suspense of the story kept me at the edge of my seat. 100 out of 10 would recommend this gorgeous book, Isabel Jolie wrote another masterpiece.

This is Brie and Adrien’s story. It’s a really great and well written romantic suspense. Brie is Adrien’s one night stand from long ago that he never stopped searching for. Now she’s back in his life, working for KOAN, the company he hired to protect his company. Now that she’s back in his life n whatever capacity, he’s not letting her slip away again. I loved this second chance romance. It has a bit of everything. Romance, spice, and mystery. It’s a great novel you should check out.

I was hooked from the moment Adrian finds the woman he spent years searching for sitting across from him in a security briefing — and she’s not who he thought she was.
The slow burn between Bree and Adrian had me hanging on every interaction, and the romantic suspense plot kept me guessing throughout.
Lucy Rivers and Gary Furlong absolutely delivered in the narrator booth — their chemistry made this one I’d recommend listening to over reading.

A woman from his past shows up and the adventures begin. He owns exclusive very private clubs for men and women to enjoy their fantasies or make secret deals behind closed doors. No prying eyes or anyway to break through their safeguards. Until...... The past and present collide and all of a sudden everything from family to government officials and blackmail blows the roof of everything! Loved this story...

Adrien & Brie. Fate brings them together 3 years after having spent an unforgettable weekend together and he is determined to make her stay this time.
The book revolves around an interesting topic, there is suspense and moral questions surrounding the romance as expected in this series.
I liked Adrien a lot, he was obsessed, determined and fearless. Brie, I felt I didn’t get to know her as much as Adrien. She was secretive and kept many things to herself. I’m not sure I understood what made her change her attitude towards the MMC.
In the last 30% the pace slowed down significantly and I found myself slightly losing interest. I think I would have liked to know some more details about their background 3 years ago instead of some of the corrupt network of the end story.

I’m not sure what gets my heart thumping harder in Isabel Jolie’s novels - the edge of my seat suspense or the sizzling spicy scenes. This book, her latest in the Sinful State series, has both the nail biting mystery and danger as well as the swoony longing and super hot love scenes. My nervous system goes on a roller coaster with each Isabel Jolie book - and I love every single minute.
This installment of the series (which can be read as a stand alone) focuses on Brie Anderson, former CIA agent and KOAN operative. She plays everything close to the vest and has a long history of being an unbreakable wall. But there seems to be one crack in this wall - Adrien d’Avricourt. Isabel Jolie exceeds all of my dreams when it comes to building a romantic suspense novel. With each book of the series, I get drawn into the world where I can't sleep until I finish the book. She is a master at balancing the suspense with the romance so that neither overshadows the other. Instead, they create a compelling ride I don't plan on climbing off of! With a series, I recommend starting at the beginning, but this can be read as a standalone.
Adrien is a man who thrives on control. It keeps him centered and focused. Brie keeps her life tight and close to her chest, rarely letting her own control slide. But three and a half years ago, they let go of that control together -- and neither one has moved on. I love that we get flashbacks with these two because it helps builds the tension, want, and primal need to have these two relinquish that control again!
When Adrien's club is found to have a dark operative who was upending his company under his watch. He's protective of not only the company, but Brie -- and when the two cross, he's torn between keeping both safe while also preventing the potential loss of them.

It is always the best news when a new novel by Isabel Jolie comes out. She never fails to impress. This is a brilliantly woven second chance romance novel - filled with espionage, suspense, and with dual POVs which I absolutely adore. The relationship between the two main characters started with a lie, an illusion, but as their story unfolds so does the layers of the walls built between them as they fight between their own respective duties and desire for each other. In a world where things are not always as they seem, filled with betrayal and surprises from multiple fronts together this couple finds an authentic connection with each other and answer the question is this connection worth risking the lives each individual has built for themselves?
Isabel Jolie’s storytelling is remarkable and her world building most thorough. Even though this is book three of the series it could be enjoyed as a standalone if this is the first novel a reader has come across.
Isabel Jolie’s storytelling is remarkable and her world building most thorough. Even though this is book three of the series it could be enjoyed as a standalone if this is the first novel a reader has come across.

This was a suspenseful, intense and addictive read. The author kept me on edge throughout the book with a constant underlying tension. The desire and passion between Adrien and Brie was well written and scorching, and the flashbacks to their first meeting juxtaposed with their current situation, had me invested in their relationship and desperately hoping for a happy ending for the pair. Brie was a complex character, pulled between her clinically detached career persona and the woman beneath with passion, needs, vulnerability and hope. I loved Adrien's focus, drive and determination to hold on to the woman he could never forget. Set against a backdrop of corruption, and a delicate and complex web of deceit, this was an exciting and engaging read and a great addition to the series.

This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Brie and Adrian’s story.
Three years previously Adrian meet Sophie, and she disappeared from Monaco without a word. Now Adrian is the owner of an elite club where one of his members is being blackmailed, and he becomes KOAN new client, where he meets Brie, a former CIA operative now working for KOAN, and the woman he has been searching for. Adrian and Brie work together to find out who is betraying his club.
This is a well written easy to read, fast packed, action-packed story, with friendships, emotions, close proximity, danger, suspense, intrigue, drama, betrayal, extortion, greed, secrets, mystery, second chances, romance, and revelations, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Every book in this series has been immaculate! Isabel has a way of writing suspense that puts me on the edge of my seat. I loved every single character in this book.
Adrien is commanding, powerful, and wealthy. When his company becomes jeopardized, Brie takes on the investigation. When betrayal comes to light and secrets are exposed, Adrien’s protective nature seeps through. He fights hard for Brie’s attention while trying to protect her at the same time. He stops at nothing to show Brie that they’re perfect for each other.
Brie is strong, independent, and smart. As she begins to unravel a web of lies and espionage, she leans on Adrien for safety and trust. As they grow closer together, there’s no stopping the instant and fiery connection between them. These two complimented each other so well.

‘Only the Lovely’ was thrilling. The pulsating plot involved espionage, intrigue, blackmailing exponentially, suspense, on the hunt for a mole, setting up surveillance, interesting family dynamics, working undercover here and there, collecting intel, a break-in, escalating threats, ultra-organized crime syndicates going amok, double triple and quadruple crosses, and then some, not to mention the bomb that nearly was set off. In the meantime, a romance was steaming full force by getting reacquainted with the blast from the past between Adrien and Brie, the protagonists. Additionally, I liked the author’s writing style: well-written and engaging characters, fascinating settings, a compelling storyline, and vivid descriptions that created a manic and revved-up tone. Also, I received a copy for free and am giving my honest review. Overall, I liked the riveting narrative.

A tale of searching and longing leftover from a stolen weekend years ago that makes your heart sing. You think you’re prepared for what’s to come, but this book does a one eighty to that and takes you through an epic tale of lies, deceit, and corruption that are bound to be exposed in the most interesting of ways. Brie and Adrien’s passion can be felt with each word and interaction. Their flame burns bright and hot, and they’re so explosive, you feel the tremors. But the beauty of their story is the down to earth and real connection they reignite while trying to solve the dilemma that threw them back together. It’s one that makes you smile, blush, and scream, and keeps you going back for more.

This is Brie and Adrien’s story, and I ate it up. Second chance romance with tension?? Yes pls. She’s the one-night stand he never forgot and now she’s back in his life as the operative assigned to protect his company.
The “he never stopped looking for her” trope?? SOLD.
It had a little bit of everything: romance, spice, and a solid suspense plot that kept things moving. Adrien is very much in his “I’m not letting you go again” era and I loved that. Super easy to get into and honestly just a really fun, well-written romantic suspense. Definitely worth the read.
