Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man :

Rate this book
I didn’t go to the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction to be bought. So when she bids on me, I shut it down and decide she’s mine instead.

Davin
I live quiet for a reason. After the fire, solitude is safer.
Then I see her in town, talking about her shop, carrying too much on her own, and I enter the auction knowing exactly who I’m there for.
When Tilly bids on me, it isn’t flirtation. It’s need. Practical. Exhausted. She wants help moving a heavy antique before her grand opening.
Another woman outbids her. I shut the auction down anyway.
The storm closes the roads, and bringing her to my cabin isn’t a favor. It’s the smart choice. I feed her. I warm her curves. I take the weight from her hands and watch her finally let herself rest.
She thinks she hired muscle.
I’m not interested in temporary. And once she’s snowed in, close enough that I can feel her give in inch by inch, I decide I’m done pretending this is casual.

Tilly
I don’t go to the bachelor auction for romance. I go because I’m burned out, my vintage shop opening is days away, and I need help moving something heavy.
Then Davin ignores a higher bid, shuts the auction down, and chooses me.
At his cabin, the storm traps us together, and everything shifts. He doesn’t rush. He doesn’t push. He just handles meals, warmth, the quiet panic I didn’t realize I was carrying.
His hands are big and steady, worshipful when they touch my curves like they’re something precious. His dominance is calm, grounding, and makes it impossible to remember why I ever thought I had to do it alone.
Davin isn’t interested in being my employee.
He wants to be the man who carries the weight with me, and makes it clear that for the next forty-eight hours, the only thing I need to handle is him.

I enjoyed this book. The story progresses well. The main characters are interesting. I felt it moved a little bit slow. The spice is good with a sweet HEA.

He Didn’t Bid — He Decided

ARC Review: This book is like being wrapped in a heavy blanket by a dangerously capable man who tells you to stop doing everything alone. Cozy? Yes. Emotionally safe? Absolutely. Filthy? Also yes. Tiffany Bloom delivers a small-town, Valentine-tinged comfort romance filled with caretaking, intention, and heat that sneaks up on you and then owns you completely. 🥰

The bachelor auction setup is chaos—and it’s perfect. Tilly shows up for practical reasons—she needs help getting her vintage shop ready, not a man. But Davin walks in already locked on her. When someone outbids her, he doesn’t mope. He shuts. It. Down. Publicly rewriting the rules to choose her anyway. Sir. His intention? Ferocious. His energy? “I saw you struggling, and now that’s my problem."

Davin is that reclusive, trauma-scarred mountain man who doesn’t waste words because his actions do all the talking. He cooks, fixes things, pays attention. His steady dominance is about care and presence—major cinnamon roll alpha energy with a tool belt. And Tilly? A curvy, late-30s business owner running on fumes, holding her life together with determination and caffeine. She’s competent, capable, and two seconds from burnout, which makes Davin’s way of stepping in and easing her load feel less like rescue and more like relief she didn’t know she was allowed to want.

The wintery Lovesbury setting wraps everything in a cozy blanket, and the stormy isolation transforms Davin’s cabin into a warm, intimate bubble where walls come down, and feelings get loud. Familiar faces from the author’s other books add to the sense of coming home—if home included flannel, broad shoulders, and a man who shows love by making sure you ate and got enough sleep.

What makes this story resonate deeper is that the conflict isn’t external drama—it’s emotional resistance. Davin has been punishing himself with isolation after trauma, convinced he doesn’t deserve happiness. Tilly believes independence means never needing anyone. Their relationship builds on trust, not pressure. His dominance is about presence and care, not control. Every touch, every choice, every promise points to permanence. And through dual POV, we see both of them realize that strength isn’t suffering alone—it’s choosing someone and allowing yourself to be chosen in return.

This is pure cozy-filthy comfort wrapped in flannel and feelings. Tiffany Bloom really said, “What if safety was sexy?” and then delivered a mountain man who could split wood, fix your life, and worship you like a goddess— all before breakfast. 🥵 This is a snowed-in, praise-heavy, competence-soaked romance where exhaustion meets intention and gets absolutely wrecked—gently, reverently, with very capable hands. Short, steamy, perfect for Valentine’s vibes, with a solid 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on the spice scale.

If a protective mountain man who fixes your problems and kisses your forehead about it sounds like your thing… go ahead, get snowed in. You’ll never be the same. 💘

Bachelor #5 by Tiffany Bloom is a cozy, steamy Valentine’s romance that delivers instant devotion, tender dominance, and the kind of emotional safety that makes you melt.

Tilly doesn’t show up to the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction dreaming about love. She’s exhausted, overwhelmed, and days away from opening her vintage shop. All she wants is to bid on someone who can help her move a heavy antique and maybe take one small thing off her plate.

Davin, however, walks in knowing exactly who he’s there for.

Quiet, reclusive, and shaped by a painful past, Davin lives a solitary life on purpose. But when he sees Tilly—tired eyes, capable hands, carrying far more than she should—something in him locks into place. So when another woman outbids Tilly, Davin does the unthinkable: he shuts the whole auction down and chooses her anyway.

From there, everything unfolds in the most delicious way.

A storm forces them back to Davin’s cabin, and what starts as practical help quickly becomes something deeper. Davin doesn’t rush Tilly or demand anything from her. He simply… handles things. Food. Warmth. Heavy lifting. Quiet support. And slowly, Tilly realizes she’s not just physically burned out—she’s emotionally running on empty too.

Davin truly sees her. He notices how hard she works, how rarely she rests, and how unused she is to being taken care of. His calm, steady dominance paired with praise-heavy body worship made my heart ache in the best way. Seeing a curvy, late-30s heroine cherished so openly and reverently felt both rare and incredibly satisfying.

The chemistry is immediate, but it’s the tenderness underneath the heat that makes this story special. Davin isn’t interested in temporary. He wants to be the man who carries the weight with her—every day, not just when it’s convenient.

Bachelor #5 is low-angst, high-heat, and ridiculously swoony. No cliffhangers. No cheating. Just instant obsession, deep connection, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

If you love cinnamon roll alphas, snowed-in forced proximity, acts-of-service devotion, and romances where a tired woman finally gets the support she deserves, this one is an absolute must-read.

Tiffany Bloom delivers a sizzling contemporary romance with Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man. From the very first page, readers are swept into the fun and excitement of the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction, where Davin finds himself uncharacteristically front and center—only to flip the script when Tilly is outbid, choosing to claim her as his own. The chemistry between Davin and Tilly is immediate, and their connection is both rare and heartfelt, promising a ride full of passion and tenderness. Tilly is seeking help, not love from the auction. Wonderfully she gets both.

This steamy escape is perfect for anyone who craves instant attraction, intense devotion, and a story packed with high heat. Bloom masterfully avoids drama—no cliffhangers, no cheating—ensuring a safe and swoony experience for romance lovers. The novella’s length is just right for a quick, fulfilling binge, leaving you thoroughly satisfied but still wanting more from these irresistible characters. Not only does this story turn up the heat with open-door steam and genuine emotion, but it also sprinkles in sweetness and a touch of addictive charm.

Readers can always count on Tiffany Bloom for a safe and pleasing journey into love, complete with the happiest of ever-afters. "Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man" is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance who want both heart and heat in one enchanting package!.

Valentine Romance. Davin sees Tilly. He sees how hard she works and that she is burned out and needs help in more ways than one. Tilly is trying to open up her store. She needs help moving heavy things and little does she realize she needs emotionally support. She goes to the bachelor auction simply to bid on someone that can be muscle for her nothing more. But Davin isnt looking for temporary or just to help her. Once they get back to his cabin where they get snowed up everything between them shifts. Will he be able to show her that this is something far more than just him helping her? Will she be able to accept the help and all that he is allowing?
This was so very cute. A cinnamon roll alpha with a curvy late 30's burnout heroine who doesnt realize she is at that point. I absolutely loved that this was written about a heavy bodied woman and that it was carefully written to include the praise and heavy body worship. Something that is normally not included in books.
Tiffany always brings you an entertaining storyline with amazing characters. She hit this one out of the park.

Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man by Tiffany Bloom is a cozy, heartwarming romance that delivers exactly what the title promises—a strong, protective hero with a soft side and a story that’s easy to fall into.

The mountain man hero is rugged, dependable, and quietly romantic, while the heroine brings warmth and emotional depth that balances him beautifully. Their chemistry feels natural, and the pacing allows the relationship to grow in a believable, satisfying way. I especially enjoyed the small moments—glances, gestures, and conversations—that made their connection feel genuine rather than rushed.

This book is charming rather than high-drama, making it perfect for readers who enjoy sweet contemporary romance with protective heroes, small-town vibes, and comforting storytelling. As part of the Lovesbury Bachelor Auction series, it stands well on its own while still fitting seamlessly into the broader world.

I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel-good romance with a strong but tender male lead and an emotionally grounded love story.

Tilly has shown me the way…

I liked this better than Mountain man's sheltering instinct, Neve and Alban’s story. This is Devin's story. Devin is the younger brother to Alban. This is also an instalove novella. I found that I was better able to connect with this one. Maybe it had better flow, or maybe it was my mood while reading this one.

Around 60% in the story there is a small conflict and we are not sure of the HEA, but it is resolved quickly. I like how Tilly handled it.

My favorite line in the book is when Tilly is encouraging someone in her mentorship group.
“You don’t need a partner to succeed. You need to believe you deserve success. The right partner just makes it easier to remember that on the hard days.” This just might be my new motto.

I recommend this for when you're in the mood for a light, quick read and guaranteed HEA.

She just needed extra muscle to move a wall size armoire. He noticed her and wanted to help her without making her feel uncomfortable. So we have a bidding war at an auction for charity. She worried she didn't have enough money he stopped the bidding and made his choice instead of the highest bidder wins. Talk of the small town this was. He is a firefighter with his own issues and she is a antiquity connoisseur and wants to have her own store. Somehow they fit. The way he shows her that he sees her catches her off guard but she accepts it. She wants to do the same but is unsure how to proceed with doing so. Realistic situations carpentry is involved. Snow and more snow and the reality that accepting what you know is to be true will probably lead you to a happy ending. Love the interactions between the main characters and how he is very protective of her even without her asking. Good read.

Tilly and Davin

BACHELOR #5: THE PROTECTIVE MOUNTAIN MAN is part of the multi-authored Lovesbury Bachelor Auction series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, he falls first, bachelor auction, forced-proximity, curvy girl gets her mountain man Valentine's Day romance.  Tilly is a curvy girl who is starting her own vintage shop. Davin is a hunky mountain man and carpenter. When Tilly goes to a Valentine's Day bachelor auction to win a date with someone who can help her move furniture, Davin makes sure that he is hers. He has been watching her for a few weeks and is drawn to the independent, curvy beauty. When she ends up snowed-in at his cabin, things quickly heat up, but both have a little baggage. Can they let each other in? These two had great chemistry and we got a great HEA after some minor angst.

Davin and Tilly’s relationship had me hooked. I mean Davin could have just asked Tilly out or offered to help her with the set up at her shop, but instead he joined the Valentines Day Bachelor Auction in hopes that it would get his foot in the door with Tilly. I monumentally enjoyed the story between Davin and Tilly. I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this series, but so far I have loved each book for different reasons. This one I loved because even though Davin had issues in his past and felt he deserved to live in solitude he still pursued Tilly. Davin may have tried to push her away at one point, but thankfully he got out of his own way and the story ended on a happy note 😀.

Bachelor#5: The Protective Mountain Man, by Tiffany Bloom was a quick, instatlove romance between Tilly and Davin. Tilly, based on her past history, had been made to feel less-than and decided it is better to depend only on herself, do everything on her own. Then along comes this domineering, overly possessive, and protective man, name Davin. For three weeks, Davin semi-stalked Tilly and deliberately manipulated circumstances in order to "claim" her. After Davin won Tilly's affection and trust his abrupt about face gave me whiplash.

What I love about this book is that neither Tilly nor Davin try to "complete" each other, they support each other and hold space for each other. Davin starts the process after noticing Tilly in town and in her shop, but after he starts building Tilly up she realizes he needs building up too.

There is an "I'm too broken for her/I don't deserve her" pulling away on Davin's part at one point, which drove me bonkers since he's the one that initiated the relationship, but it was thankfully brief.

This is a nice short read, and I have Alban and Neve's story coming up soon in my TBR.

What a heart-warming story of two people who are carrying burdens in their lives and together overcome their fears. Tilly attends the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction hoping to bid Davin. When he shutdowns the action and decides on Tilly, could this is the beginning they both needed. Tilly and Davin help each other mend their hollowness and begin a new life together when they realize that happiness can be theirs if they only open their hearts and see what is in front of them. The love and support they give each other can be felt throughout the story. Highly recommend.

Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man is another great romance by Tiffany Bloom that brings heartfelt emotions, wonderful characters, and a well-written journey that was engaging from start to finish. I love the cute-meet of Tilly and Davin. I also love the determination of Tilly and the protectiveness of Davin. Their journey to their happy ever after is one of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and learning to let go. Bachelor #5 is an excellent addition to the Lovesbury Valentine’s Day Auction series and worth the read.

Book 5 of the Lovesbury Bachelor Auction (multi-author series). Can be read as a standalone.

'I didn’t go to the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction to be bought. So when she bids on me, I shut it down and decide she’s mine instead.'

The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and perfectly steamy together. Plot was well written and straightforward. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Very sweet story!

Perfect for the season. Kind of silly premise though, bidding on a bachelor, just to have a man to move furniture, but I guess it worked for the story. Finding out he'd been watching her struggling with moving boxes, but held off on going in, to help her, but again it did work for the story. When he finds out her plan to bid on a man, all bets are off, because no other man would be around his chosen lady. Great book for us women who love a determined, take charge man, who will still allow her independence. Well, up to a point. Lovely HEA ending! Trish. A

I’m Staying.
Fantastic. Tilly has always been told that she’s TOO everything. She carries her problems on her own shoulders. When she needs help moving furniture for Antique store opening she goes to the bachelor auction. Davin was a late entry into the auction only because he overheard Tilly say she was looking for help and he wants to be the help. He has watched her struggle with getting the store ready in time and how she’s exhausted herself doing it alone. Davin is already in love with Tilly. He has one weekend to prove it to her.

“Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man” by Tiffany Bloom

-Davin and Tilly’s Valentine bachelor auction meeting story delivers it all. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

This is a cozy, low-angst romance filled with instant devotion and small-town charm. Davin, the reclusive mountain man hero is a cinnamon roll alpha whose acts of service, competence, and care show brightly. Tilly is a curvy, late-30s burned out woman looking forward to having a successful business. The story is cute and funny and works well for this pair. Love it.

Bachelor #5: The Protective Mountain Man by Tiffany Bloom is part of the multi author series The Lovesbury Valentine’s Day Auction and it was a good read.
As a steamy and heart warming, small town instalove romance it had me hooked from the start with it's engaging main characters, Davin and Tilly.
This sweet story packs in tropes such as dominant caretaker MMC, forced proximity, acts of service devotion, praise-heavy body worship, possessive claiming and a cinnamon roll alpha protective hero which all contributed to an entertaining read.
Davin, an ex firefighter now living a quiet, isolated life on the mountain was captivated by Tilly, the curvy heroine suffering exhaustion and burnout in attempt to get her new vintage shop ready for opening. Davin quietly watches and observes Tilly for weeks and determines to enter a charity bachelor auction having overheard Tilly speaking to a local.
The bachelor auction was a means to an end for Tilly - muscle required to help move furniture in her shop but connection, quick and strong, at the auction and through the forced proximity of being snowed in at his cabin, the instalove connection only grows and deepens.
Their chemistry sizzled and with the well paced storyline, and steam and spice, I was quickly turning the pages to see how their HEA turned out.

Loved the short story. Tilly is trying to get her shop reading to become the new antique store when she realizes that she needs help moving a armoire. Her solution is to bid on a Valentine bachelor at the auction. Davin entered the auction so that she could bid and win. He has decided that she needs help, even if she never asks for it. This book is full of emotions, trust and has a happy ending. I enjoyed it.

I am loving the Lovesbury Bachelor Auction series, and this book is a fantastic addition. Tilly is in desperate need of a muscled man to move things in her story she is about to open. That's how she ends up at the auction. Davin is smitten with Tilly, and she doesn't know it. I love how the auction goes! *Swoon ;)* It takes a very short time for Tilly to decide that Davin is more than just muscle. Excellent short read with the best happy ending.

This was a fun, steamy novella. While it was inst-attraction/love, it wasn't over the top. Davin slowly won Tilly's trust. Instead of immediately fall into bed, they worked their way towards it. Which, considering it is a novella, actually surprised me and I appreciate that. I really liked the characters. Their broken pasts healed each other. Davin needed someone to care for and Tilly wanted to be chosen. I loved them together. Overall, it was a fun novella to read for Valentine's day.

It is a beautiful multi-author series - The Lovesbury Bachelor Valentine’s Day Auction. She needed someone to move the furniture in her soon-to-be shop. And her plan was simple - to buy bachelor for the weekend to solve that problem. But there came Davin, with his own plan - he changed rules and took her bid. To protect her and to make her his own.
Wonderful characters and engaging story line. Enjoyed this short read.

Is she ready for him?

Tilly is determined she will never be accused of being too much, too needy, too demanding ever again, she will never ask for help...she will be independent. But Davin sees the strain she is under, he sees the exhaustion, the stress and the fear. He is determined to help her and I love that he is wise enough to see he cannot just barge in, he can offer help but on her terms. It's entertaining to see them dance around each other as they try to find the middle ground that will allow them to move forward....together.
A great read on Kindle Unlimited.

This was the fourth book in the series that I had an early copy of. I read them straight through and this is the first that didn’t have contradictions with what the previous authors had written. I enjoyed this one the most. I loved how Davin just stopped the auction and said Tilly won him. Also loved the proposal or lack thereof. The writing was good and the steam was better than in the previous books. This was my first book by the author and I will be reading more.

What happens when you go to a bachelor auction just to get help moving things but the bachelor chooses you instead?

Davin has watched Tilly struggle holding herself and everything that needs to be done at her new store
before it opens all by herself.

Tilly is used to doing everything by herself with no help. Others always telling her she was too much, asking for too much and just not being enough. She is so exhausted mentally, physically and is just lost.

Can Davin show her what he see?

Tillie went to a bachelor auction to get help moving furniture. Davin shut down the auction and left with Tillie as the winner. I love the way they grow together and their HEA is a testament to being brave and choosing each other every single day.

Tillie needs help moving a piece of furniture and has decided getting a man at the annual Valentine's auction is cheaper than hiring a moving service - at least if the bidding doesn't go wild When bachelor number 5 comes to the stage, she knows he can handle the load.
