Lessons in Love by New York Times bestselling author, S.L. Scott, brings the heat and heart this season to your Kindle in this holiday, male POV romance.
I live by two rules.
The simple guidelines prevent me from wasting my time and overly complicating my life. After all, I’m not the kind of guy who settles down. So there’s no sense in getting too close or, even worse, falling in love.
And then the hottest woman I’ve ever laid eyes on walks into my bar looking for lessons in the love department. What’s the harm in a few “private lessons” with a beautiful and equally sexy pupil? Apparently, a lot. We’ve barely gotten started, and I’m breaking rule number one—keep women at arm’s length—like it never existed.
As for number two? I’m in trouble.
She wants me to teach her how to make a guy fall in love. But now I’m wondering if I’m the one getting schooled or if she’ll ever realize that guy is right in front of her?

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, writes character driven, heart-racing suspense, and swoony romances that will leave you glued to the page. With stories ranging from witty beach reads to heart wrenching and heart healing, her stories are highly regarded as emotional, relatable, and captivating.
Her books are more than escapes for the voracious readers of today. They are journeys of the heart that always come with a happily ever after reward at the end.
After almost losing himself in a money hungry world of business, Hardy Richard is proud of having turned his life around. He owns his home and his bar, which is a staple in Brooklyn nightlife. He and his bartenders pride themselves in making sure their patrons have a good time, be that through mixing the perfect cocktail, offering a listening ear, or even a willing body. He only has two rules to live by: don’t get too close and don’t fall in love.
They have worked well for him.
Until now.
Until Virginia.
After a friend recommends Hardy’s bar to her, she sets out to seduce her crush there. Instead, she strikes up a conversation with Hardy. She intrigues him, and he is actually willing to spend more time with her, getting to know her. But when she seems determined to pursue her crush, Hardy finds himself relegated to the role of friend and teacher.
The story is told entirely from Hardy’s point of view. This allows you a rather in-depth look into his mind and soul while keeping Virginia’s motivations more of a mystery. At times I found myself wanting to shake them both to get them to actually talk about their thoughts and feelings. But they don’t, leading to assumptions and misunderstandings.
It was heartwarming to see Hardy opening up his heart and letting down his guard. He is caught by surprise by the almost instant connection he feels with Virginia, and it freaks him out.
This story is romantic, funny, and steamy, with just the right dose of angst. A definite recommendation!
“There are only two rules: 1.Don’t get too close 2. Don’t fall in love…. Why do I feel like I broke a rule and I’m about to shatter the second?”
This was the @s.l.scott book I didn’t know I was missing (I truly need to go back and finish reading everything in her catalog)! Plenty of spice and banter to go around. I love that this book is written just from Hardy’s point of view, and that he never saw Virginia coming.
Self proclaimed bachelor and bar owner, who has worked hard to make his life everything he wants and needs to it be. Love is not something he needs to be happy. He’s created everything he needs to be content and have fun in life without getting hurt. Which is truly what this comes down to, keeping himself protected from love and hurt.
Virginia just wants to be seen. A shy, successful women, who just want to fall in love, but not with Hardy. He’s not the type to settle down and maybe he can teach her how to reel in the man she wants…
He’s not looking for love, and she knows there’s no way he could fall in love with her. He’s also not the kind of guy she would fall in love with.
Sounds like the perfect arrangement. Everyone gets what they want and no one gets hurt. Right?
I enjoyed reading this story. Starts with Hardy and you learn some thing about him and how he meets Virgina. As I read I first thought Hardy was a man only interested in easy sex but as i read more about how Hardy and Virgina relationship develops I see him falling in love with her.. Virgina goes to Hardys Hideaway because a her friend told her about Hardy and ask him to teach her stuff so she can get a co-worker attention since she has a crush on him but along the way she falls in love with Hardy. Look forward to reading more of S.L. Scotts books .
Lessons in Love is a fantastic read. Hardy will make swoon. Virginia is a sweetheart. The art of teaching seduction is delectable. I love the innocence of Virginia and the hotness Hardy brings fourth. The chemistry is amazing as Hardy brings out the seductress in Virginia. I could not get enough of this one.
Lessons in Love is a wonderful book that I could hardly put out of my hands. The twists and turns that arise when shy Virginia, who is completely inexperienced in matters of love, chooses bar owner Hardy, who has avoided any serious relationships until now, as her romance coach are amusing, humorous, and enchanting. I loved, loved, loved this story!
I'm already in love with some of S.L Scott's books and have slowly been making my way through her works....so when I saw she had a romance centered around the MMC, with all his POV, and it had a winter /holiday theme, I knew I had to check it out.
And it did not disappoint!! This friends to lovers romance had tension, banter and some good steam & spice that kept me intrigued. It also centered around some important themes of self-discovery like- finding your way out of the darkness, standing up for what you believe in, and deserving better for yourself.
It is fast-paced and easy to devour in one sitting.
