Oops! I Summoned a Metamorphic Monster

Rate this book
When Skylar is tricked into making an online dating profile, she rebels by summoning a boyfriend for the night instead.

What comes out of her magic circle is not what she expected. He doesn’t even have a body! He’s just a mass of glowing blue tentacles. Yet he gives her the hottest—and strangest—ride of her life until the sun rises.

She knows she can’t rely on an amorphous tentacle creature for love, but can she bear to close the one-way door that is the magic circle? Even when that wretched online dating profile helps her find the perfect man, will she be able to resist if the naughty, shape-shifting monster starts knocking?

**Witches Love Monsters features short, fun romps from some of your favorite Regine Abel, Opal Reyne, Naomi Lucas, and Tiffany Roberts. Each book reads as a standalone.

It physically pains me to give this 2 stars because Opal’s Duskwalker Bride seires has my whole heart but I did not enjoy this as much as I hoped 😭 the plot had promise but the writing style just wasn’t for me, the word ‘naughty’ was used SO many times and every time I had a visceral reaction to it (me problem most likely). I did like our MMC and the spice was wonderfully unhinged but yeah I just didn’t care much for this 😭❤️‍🩹

This book was mostly smut with little plot and I was here for it. Skylar was living the dream as a coffee shop/library owner with a couple close friends. She was bold and a bit impulsive, which led her to attempt summoning an incubus, summoning a tentacle monster instead. Which, lucky her, because he was sweet and all about consent and extracting every iota of pleasure from her. I loved his heart tentacle thing and his whole vibe. It was a precious story.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: stalking, parent death (past), speciesism (off page), mention of SAs of vague side characters

Jesus. Christ. That was hot as hell.
I’ve always been a fan of tentacles, and this did Not disappoint lol. But it was also so sweet and emotional at times.
Honestly, it was the perfect first little romp back from a slump.

Hot witchy barista summons a tentacle demon while horny, and it gets attached way too quickly.. in more ways than one 😂

This is a short and sweet MF monster romance that definitely made me laugh. It has:

-insta lust
-a chaotic and possessive metamorphic monster
-a magical witch with a cool cafe
-a demon ferret that wants snacks
-dynamic monster biology that’s put to good use 👀

This was a fun and easy read! A little ridiculous, but hey, it’s a monster romance novella! I still had fun reading it. :)

5/5 ⭐️🤭

The story of Vorg and Skylar was short, smǔțțŷ, and just cuteee af.
Dare I say this was spicier than some of the Duskwalker books.

I was here for the fun of Monster and Opal Delivered! The writing was great and sexy! I was transported to a Coffee shop with and Witch that Summoned a Monster for a good time! I love the FMC and how Opal created a new Monster with Tentacles. There was a moment between them that I appreciated for how really really well written it was. It was not a quick moment but showed how much love there was and motion there was in description. Love the Novella and wished it was longer! It was that good to me. This really cemented how much Opal has become an Instant Author for me! Highly recommend for my Monster or Romance Lovers!

Blue Lovin!

I loved this so much! I have always had a thing for tentacles and reading about an actual sentient tentacle monster is amazing! I absolutely loved the MMC in this! And I loved seeing Opal write a more modern setting! Doesn't hurt that Skyler is a bada$$! Absolutely love her style and personality! And she runs a cute coffee shop with BOOKS! Absolutely love this!

It was actually really fun reading about the MCs evolving relationship, from OOPS! To forever 💙

Also, one of the best parts? MMC is blue! I love blue!! 💙

Skylar handling that rude af customer was so satisfying 🙂‍↕️

Opal gives us “horny tentacle hentai meets cute goth witch” and that perfectly describes what you’re getting into 😂

This was an easy read, flowed well and I kept wanting to turn the page. On the other hand, Vorg pissed me off and his pet too. Usually I’d find a protective and jealous mmc great - they’re my favourite type to read. However we barely knew anything about Vorg and he was not even able to talk to Skylar, so he came across as a huge red flag. I wasn’t convinced that they could even be together as a couple when it was purely sex between them. He has zero right to terrorise her and I hate that she gave in to him.

If you’re looking for something short and smutty, I’d give this a go!

Monster romance HEA ✅
Strong independent FMC (who is also a witch 🥵) ✅
Adorable otherworld *ferret* with bat wings 🐾🦇✅
Tentacles… 👀🐙✅

This was such a spicy. short, & fun read! 🔥❤️‍🔥
Idk about everyone else but I kinda get bored when the entire book is just filled with smutty content and ZERO plot so I am beyond glad this book had some plot going on and some bouncing back & forth between Skylar and Vorg. 🖤

I also loooove how funny Skylar is! I laughed several times throughout the book because of how relatable she is with her thoughts/comments. You know the book is going to be good when it starts by the FMC calling a snobby customer a little man-bitch to their face. 😭💀

This was so freaking funny, unhinged, deliciously smutty and freaky and kind of endearing all at the same time. I love Opal Reyne SO MUCH. Always a powerhouse in the monster smut scene. I love all her books so much.

fast and fun

This book has that element of danger but also romance and a bit of “touch her and d**”. Fast paced and fun. I loved it!

'It was so good it felt... wrong. Deplorable. Sinful. Was he a tentacle monster or some strange deity of lust? Because fucking hell, he’d taken her to perverted heaven.'

This series has a theme- sweet, short and smutty - and I AM HERE FOR THEM ALL!
This one was more on the spicier side but the morphing monster (I felt like he was like a power ranger- though an evolving Pokemon may be close too)- he morphed and got better, more features, more abilities and more appendages- but the tails making love heart shapes in all forms killed me 💘

This was such a fun and bubbly read. It's based in Newtown, Sydney- somewhere I am a frequent visitor in and this read was also so cosy and warming in the sense of belonging and relating to these girls- now if only being a witch and summoning a sexy monster could also be real thanks.

Opal killed this, she wrote a little bit at the end and she's amazing ❤️

This was a fun, short and sexy read. Honestly anything Opal writes, I will read it, and this was no different!

Skylar own's a cute and cozy coffee shop in town, and that is pretty much her life. She doesn't have much time for boyfriends, but one day her friend and coworker start a dating profile for her. Skylar isn't to keen on this idea, so being a witch she decides to summon a boyfriend for the night. However, she messed up the spell and didn't summon an incubus like she was trying, but instead a tentacle monster. After being a little spooked at first, she says "fuck it" and decides to live out one of her fantasies.

For being such a short and quick book, I really enjoyed this! Yes it was very smut filled, but Opal has a way with writing that it doesn't feel like it's taking over the whole book.

Okay, um, I probably shouldn’t have loved this as much as I did... but here we are! I am a huge fan of Opal Reyne’s writing, and she has officially proven that she can make me fall in love with literally any type of monster. This book was such a wild, wonderful ride.

Skylar and the mysterious metamorphic monster (no spoilers here, you have to read it to find out!) have such a great dynamic from start to finish. I was completely obsessed with the little ways he communicates with Skylar, specifically the way he uses his tentacles to make little heart shapes? Absolutely ADORABLE. It’s those sweet, unique details that make Opal's monsters so top-tier.

Like so many great monster romances, this book has reshaped my thinking in a wonderfully fantastic way.

Ok book I guess

I loved the idea of a methamorphic monster. I also love the idea of a relaxing coffee cafe to read a book, but I wouldn't find the cafe relaxing at all.

Kaylee is Skylar's friend and an obnoxious gum chewer and works for Skylar. No one likes mouth noises and or gum popping while they are trying to read and chill at a cafe. Gum chewing is also very unprofessional.

Also, Kaylee is creepy, because she created a dating profile for Skylar with Skylar's permission.

Besides that, I also didn't care for the characters using God's name in vain.

Other than that, I think I liked the relationship between Skylar and Vorg.

I'm mixed if I'll buy another of the author's book or reccomend, so idk.

Morphing Tentacle hawtie was a fantastic idea.

This book was such a fun read. Vorg is such a unique character in that he has to go through two transformations to come to his final form. In all the monster romance I’ve read, Opal is the only one I’ve read whose characters do this. Then there’s Skylar who is a sweet, yet tough when she needs to be, witch who has let a past relationship rule her present. I loved seeing how Skylar and Vorg’s relationship grows even when he can’t speak to her. This is a fun short read for when you need some heat with your sweet mouth monster romance.

OMG! I didn't expect to love this as much as I did!

It was so good. The plot was there but not too intense, the characters were well fleshed out and interesting AND FUN! The spicy was 🥵🥵🥵.
Mr Tentacles goes from naughty tentacles to a very sexy human/demon man and he's got such a dirty mouth! I love an obsessed MMC. Skylar was such a boss b!tch and I love her library cafe. The book was cosy and different from Opal's usual make us readers cry plot lol. No tears were shed!

I need a skowl pet in my life. Opal how do I get one?!?!

Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be known that Opal can, and does, write quite literally ANY monster into being sxy, yet adorable. How you ask? I haven’t the faintest clue but I’m am absolutely reading every single thing the woman writes!

Go read Oops I Summoned A Metamorphic Monster if you’re in the mood for a quick burn, with a sxually aware alternative witch and a unique monster devoted to her!

Ps. I have no idea how she managed to squeeze the story into a less than 200 pg book, given her DWB series lengths, but she did 🤣🙌🏻

This might be my new favorite book…

Uh, sexy metaphorma monster that becomes the man of your dreams? Sign me UP, OPAL!!

I’ve been scarfing this author’s books down for YEARS (and often on repeat because, hello, they’re fucking glorious!) and I know this is gonna be my golden fav.

100/100. I need more and can’t wait for Opal’s next piece, whenever it comes ❤️✨

ughhhh I wanted to love this bc I love Opal's work but it was just... boring? the writing isn't very engaging (I found myself rereading passages bc it wasn't clear what was happening) and it's mostly smut that was ok, except it got boring and repetitive, especially without any real romance or bonding. a miss for me tbh.

What a fun short read, Opal Reyne never lets me down. The FMC is a gothic independent small business owner who just needs to scratch a little itch, you know! When she screws up her spell and accidentally summons a metamorphic monster. This book is fun, steamy and I couldn't stop reading. Tenicals are definitely one of my favorite monster traits.

Badass boss lady FMC + a sweet tentacle monster with a filthy mouth and stamina for days. Smut is *mostly* the plot and I have no regrets. Opal Reyne once again proves why she is the queen of monster romances.

I also ADORE the ferret-bat!

Short, to the point, smutty read.

I’ve read another work from the author and it wasn’t my cup of tea but love her ideas and concepts.

Happy with the spicy scenes but felt more invested with the FMC’s best friend and their love life rather then the main couple.
