Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes

Rate this book
One secret Santa. Two lonely hearts. And a Christmas spent tearing down walls to let love in.

Jason Harker: I’ll admit it—I can be a little nosy. When you live alone in a town as small and close-knit as Belleville, other people’s stories have a way of filling the quiet. So when I find newcomer, Joe Milton, in the alley behind my store, cradling a bird like it might break his heart to let go, I make it my mission to befriend the enigmatic man. Only problem? Now the whole town thinks I’ve got a thing for Joe. Me? With a crush? On a man? No. That’s… definitely not happening. Probably. Maybe. But the more I try to prove to everyone that Joe and I are just friends, the more this surly, adorable man starts feeling like the best Christmas present I never asked for.

Joe Milton: Moving to a new town to start an apple farm? Ambitious. Trying to renovate a crumbling house by myself before my family arrives for Christmas? Possibly delusional. And just when I’m about to lose all hope and sanity, a secret Santa steps in to save me. But it’s his so-called elf helper who really catches me off guard. Jason Harker is kind, charming, and makes my heart race faster than my impending renovation deadline. This new friendship and the swirl of confusing feelings make me wonder if this Christmas might mend more than just this old house.

Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes is a standalone Holiday MM romance with high heat, a HEA, and no cliffhangers. Includes a dislike-to-friends-to-lovers romance between a secret millionaire and a grumpy apple farmer. Together these two are tooth-achingly sweet. If you like heartfelt stories with holiday magic, positive mental health rep, graphic steam, and the slowest, sweetest of all burns then read on!

I picked this one up because I loved ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Bad Decision’ (and have enjoyed other Quin works) and while reading that book, I hoped that we were going to get Joe’s story because he seemed like such a sweet character with such potential! Unfortunately, this one ended up REALLY not working for me. I read to the 35% point and was going to DNF it but ended up skimming through the rest of it to give it a chance and to see how it played out in case it redeemed itself for me (it did not).

This book honestly felt like it locked down the tropes and the sex scenes first and then hung the rest of the characterisation and plot around it, and as a result I found the chemistry lack luster and the characterisation flat.

It was valuable to learn something new about myself though and that is that I DO NOT at all enjoy plots based on financial motivation, especially when it’s coupled with deception. Because Jason is apparently a secret millionaire who works as a grocery store manager, and he wanted to help Joe because he was hot and pathologically adverse in accepting assistance. So, he decides to create a charity so he can circumvent Joe’s refusal of assistance through the guise of being a secret charity recipient.

Considering we spend the first 25% of the book witnessing Joes (pretty excessive) issues with accepting assistance in any form and its bought up on several occasions what a big deal his giving his trust to Jason was, I was rolling my eyes early on cause I was like “great the third act break up conflict will be when he finds out Jasons secret identity as the man behind the charity and being hurt by being deceived and manipulated”. But you know what? It’s actually worse… cause when he finds out, he just doesn’t care… it’s barely a blip in the story and he just rolls over with a “this helps me understand you better”. And this just felt WILDLY inconsistent with the character and facts established earlier on. Like what was the fucking point of ALL THAT REPETITION? (and God there was a lot of repetition)

Also, Jasons whole personality being ‘validation sought through acts of charity’ felt super flimsy and mostly and excuse for the secret millionaire trope.

This was an age gap romance between Joe (28) and Jason (42), although Jason never acted like he was older than 25, so besides talking about his greying hair I don’t really get why this was a thing? Other than to feed into the D/S elements which when tied with the virginity stuff and power dynamics behind the finances, wasn't my jam.

Which brings me to the ace and demi rep in this book. And look, as someone who exists in this space myself, I totally understand that this sexuality exists in a spectrum and everyone’s experience will be different, but I did not care for the representation here and it did not feel very authentic to me and more felt like someone’s interpretation of what they thing being ace means without actually speaking to a single ace person. Starting with Jason, who at 42, has never had a crush before, yet immediately finds himself with one for the first time upon meeting Joe? Does the author realise that someone being ace doesn’t mean that they are incapable of having crushes? And it has nothing to do with Jason not feeling sexual interest, because the story mentions that Jason enjoys having sex when he feels the urge (although has been exclusively with women previously and never found men attractive and has an ex-wife he is on good terms with).

(I have been happily corrected that Quin apparently did engage a sensitivity reader for this which is good to hear, so perhaps other readers will resonated with this experience on the sexuality spectrum more than I did and I hope that those who do enjoy seeing their own experience reflected in these characters)

Then there is Joe, who apparently discovers that he might be demisexual as a result of his attraction to Jason and one single conversation with his brother? which okay is fine, whatever. My Joe related issues come more from the fact that Joe is apparently tall, blonde, hot, build like a brick wall and super sweet and nice, but is somehow still a 28-year-old virgin? who has never had a single friend before? Like this whole ‘I have never had a friend’ thing came up so many times, and I guess the author was trying to use this to play up how romantic the connection between Jason and Joe was but that just felt like such a red flag to me…

Also…. (keeping in mind that Jason was also Joes first kiss) they share a scene in which Jason is showing Joe how to kiss as this is his second time kissing someone and this devolves into discussion about pleasure doms?? (also, a hand job and titty fuck in the grocery store break room??) and it just felt wildly excessive for someone’s second kiss where the scene starts with Joe not knowing how to angle his head into a kiss properly without guidance…

Look I realise I am coming off as a cunt in this review and I am happy to own that, perhaps if you are into something a bit more small-town Hallmark Christmas vibes this will work for you better than it did me. But knowing what this author can be capable of, and how much I have enjoyed some of her other work (including previous Hallmarky Christmas stories), this felt like a massive bummer….

Also, for my sanity’s sake, having two love interests name starting with the same letter is a fast way to make me check out cause my little pea brain can’t process that….

…. Also, Jason uses… on more than one occasion, the nickname Joe-by (a mix of Joe and baby) and this made me want barf and then to yeet myself into the sun immediately.

Thank you to GRR for the eARC and the opportunity to read and review this book.

Safety info, content warnings and tropes down below.

There was a lot to enjoy in this book. It was lighthearted and sweet with characters who were very easy to like and root for. Their dynamic was a lot of fun (and very hot), and I just love caretaking in a relationship. Joe absolutely melts when Jason loves on him. It delivers on its promise to be a smutty hallmark moment.

Fae is very good at writing books that you can do great marketing for (her great art helps for sure), but *sometimes* it kinda feels like the marketing comes before the story – I’m sure that’s not the case, but her books, this one included, does seem to have almost every trope and kink under the sun thrown at it. There are new kinks introduced in the epilogue with no warning, and while every kink doesn't need to take over a story to be valid, it does quickly feel like it was added as an afterthought – just ticking off items on a list.

There's demiromantic rep I felt was well done in the book -- even tho it wasn't explicitly stated that Jason is demiromantic. His character and sexuality felt fully fleshed out and intentional, and it was nice to see after having had a bad time with a lot of acespec rep in books lately. Joe's demisexuality felt a bit like an afterthought in comparison, not as fully fleshed out. I think sometimes demisexuality is treated as a way to show characters finding 'the one', but that's not really how it works. Not all demisexual folks are virgins, and we're definitely not out here waiting to find that one special person. Well, I'm not, anyway. Even just statistically speaking I feel like a demiromantic person finding a demisexual person is unrealistic lol, but I guess that's why it's a hallmark christmas romance.

I have been in a terrible slump (lost my 1300 day + kindle streak in November) and this book still held my attention for a long time. It was just a bit too sappy and hallmark-y for my tastes, and packing in all the different content didn't work for me.

TL;DR,
I had a good time with this, loved the caretaking/service top dynamic between the guys, loved Joe the most, but wish kinks weren’t thrown in all willy nilly at the end.

Thank you to the author for the ARC.

At one point, very memorably, he’d grabbed me by the hips and quite literally manhandled me out of his way so he could get to the register. His hands had been hot. Index fingers just barely slipping beneath the hem of my t-shirt. I don’t think my heart had ever beat so goddamn fast in my entire life.

“Do…” Joe started a few minutes later, long after I’d assumed he was asleep. “What?” I asked, the whirr of the space heater the only thing to fill the quiet. “Do…friends cuddle?” Joe inquired, voice low and sweet.

there’s something fae quinn puts in her holiday romances.
pretty sure it’s crack.

every single one is a damn near perfect cozy delicious hot chocolate with PEPPERMINT.
because the spice quite literally arrives like a freight train and goes “sweet romance who??? we’re freaks here.”
i’m in love.

yes, i did say near perfect because my girl fae, you desperately need a developmental editor. the power you would have if you’d just tighten up these books a little bit would be unmatched.

I was hoping this book would be a win, but it was a mixed bag:

- I loved awkward, quiet Joe but never warmed up to Jason. Everything about Jason felt loud and performative.

- I liked the secondary characters, including Jason's ex and her daughter; the MCs from the Christmas Daddies books make an appearance, but this book is a standalone (Joe is Baxter's cousin, but that's neither here nor there).

- Way too much focus on physical appearance. If I heard one more time about how Joe was a "big, massive man" (big body, big feet, big shoulders, "big, golden, sweaty panther"), I was going to sprain my eyeballs.

- Too many long, rambling, repetitive internal monologues; a hundred pages could have been shaved off without missing a thing.

- Something about the MCs coming together, Jason's relationship with his teenage employee, the extravagant surprise for Jason, Joe showing up at Jason's mom's house, the "Santa Fund" ... it all felt a bit OTT and staged, like an abstract ideal vs. real life.

- Christmas goodies galore: getting snowed in, sharing one bed, puffer jackets, cozy family fun.

- Age gap, bi-awakening, demisexuality - there was no real angst around any of this, which I really appreciated. Jason was a little self-conscious about his wrinkles and stomach pudge, but who isn't?

So close to a full 3 stars, but the author had to go and ruin it by introducing a completely random kink in the epilogue.

All that ice and fire was gone now, replaced by the puppy eyes that when directed my way, made me feel like I was flying.

TROPES:
🎄 Small town
❄️ Holiday romance
🎄 Secret millionaire
❄️ Snowed in
🎄 Found family
❄️ Service top vs pillow princess puppy

A cute Christmas romance, with all the typical tropes and a dash of Fae Quin’s trademark sexiness.

Now, while it was a fun read overall, it wasn’t on the same level as Cloudy With A Chance Of Bad Decisions.
It might’ve been the secret millionaire trope (not a fave of mine), the low-angst plot or maybe the romance that lacked deeper feels, but Snowy Skies And Puppy Eyes just didn’t hit as I was hoping it would.

“Jesus Christ, you’re just the sweetest little puppy, aren’t you?”

While I looooove a big puppydog golden retriever type, Joe felt very similar to at least three other characters from Fae Quin. And Jason, honestly, didn’t really have a whole lot of substance. I couldn’t connect to either of them, which made it hard to feel for them or the story.

Then, in that same adorable voice, he requested, “Stay?”

Cute characters, holiday vibes, hot spice. A tad too long when there isn’t really much of a plot. Especially when all the ‘angst’ and internal conflicts have zero impact on the story. Not a bad read, just not what I hoped for.

For the first time in my life, it truly felt like I was wanted.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

CW and NSFW info (spoilers):
- Mention of parent death (past)
- Mention of past child emotional neglect
- Age gap (43 vs 28)

- Virgin MC
- Top/botton (virgin bottoms)
- Bigger bottom, smaller top
- Kissing lessons
- Light D/s dynamic
- Light degradation
- Light puppy play
- Grinding/coming w/ clothes on
- Cock-warming
- Titty-fucking
- Biting
- Toys
- Light feminization (use of feminine terms)

I didn’t connect as well with this story as I have with some of her others.

The things I enjoyed were catching up with previous characters. Having a familiar background and writing style to the other books. There were some beautiful quotes and paragraphs within, especially towards the end of the book. The cosy, low-angst, Christmasy feel of the story, which overall is super cute and cheesy, which I love. I love how they complemented each other: one quiet and the other chatty, and I even liked the sneaky way Jason gets under Joe’s skin. I cackled along with him a few times.

But at times I did feel like whole passages were repeated, and I didn’t click with this couple as much as I wanted to. Jason early on admits that he’s never been interested in relationships or sex, and he was terrified to repeat that with Joe. Joe is a virgin and sounds like he has autism or something, which isn’t a problem, but once this is voiced, Jason somehow becomes a master at gay sex, having never done it before, a master dom, and a teacher of sex when he’s never had any for over ten years. I don’t know. I either missed something along the way, or their set-up was as far-fetched as I believe it to be.

However, I think the cuteness outweighs my frustration, so four it is.

What do you get if you cross the grumpiest, most closed off Snow White with the most sunshiny, nosiest grocery store clerk ever? Set it at the most magical (and stressful) time of the year, let the snow fall and the cocoa brew, and you get a magical story of peeling back each other's layers, making your dreams come true, and learning that you're better and stronger together than apart.

I adored this book so much! Jason and Joe are the perfect couple - they complement each other so well, with tension between them so hot it practically sets the pages on fire, and once Jason gets past Joe's walls they are so sweet and tender together too.

Both of their backstories and motivations will absolutely squeeze your heart with the struggles they've been through and the way they see themselves. But they both grow and flourish so much in this book, it's the best thing ever! Both MCs, but particularly Jason, go on an aspec awakening journey as Jason discovers that he is demiromantic (and potentially demisexual). I feel like Fae did an absolutely AMAZING job with this rep as an aroace person myself. I'm so, so proud of her for how she wrote this aspect of his character.

And the SPICE, people. You are not prepared! Fae is always brilliant at spice, and once these two get going your pulse will be racing! Jason is such a caretaker and Joe just melts under his commanding touch and his reassuring, take-charge presence. Plus, Jason has a MOUTH on him in bed. Damn! Fae literally made all my spicy dreams come true with this book!

Of course, I can't talk about a Fae Quin book without mentioning the side characters. We have cameos from old friends (which I adore ugh some of my favourite moments!) and some brand new characters I loved spending time with! Jason's ex-wife, Mary, and her new husband are brilliant, hilarious and supportive friends to Jason and I am totally in love with them and their daughter - and their ridiculous dog Poncho.

I loved the whole book. 10/10 no notes. If you love holiday romances, grumpy/sunshine, caretaking vibes, or dislike to lovers then this is the perfect book for you. Wrap yourself in a blanket, grab your favourite hot drink, and sink into this warm hug of a book!

Also Fae, I'm gonna need one of those "Montgomery Smut Club" sweaters 😂

I had the absolute honour of beta reading and then arc reading this book. These are still my personal, honest opinions and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

⭐️ 4.5 stars rounded up! ⭐️

I feel like it's a tradition at this point to get this wonderful Christmas love stories from this wonderful author.

Joe is a gentle giant, an adorable sweetheart. He's absolutely wonderful with animals, and he's got such a kind heart. He moved from Ohio to Vermont, back to the town of Bellville from the original Christmas series. He's George's brother from the book Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions.

He moved away to Vermont to try to do things on his own. He has an amazing family, but he wants to prove that he can do things on his own, that isn't a failure.

He tries to be ultra dependent because of it, and Jason is the exact opposite of Joe in that regard, basically. All he wants to do is help people and accept help, to be a part of something that people care about him for. To be the opposite of his parents who did altruistic things only to look good and get praised for it. Jason wants to actually do good, so he hides his wealth and tries to help people where he can.

When he first sees Joe, he's enamored, he's entranced, he's done for. Joe takes a little longer, but that's because it seems he might be demisexual AND again he's trying to be independent and doesn't take well to Jason trying to help him.

Jason has a major crush on Joe, and eventually he realizes it - with some nudges from others - and Joe slowly begins to realize his feelings too, especially when he has to fix up his house before his family comes to visit and he needs help doing it, which takes a lot for Joe to accept. But Jason helps him, in a roundabout way.

These two were absolutely adorable. Joe was as sweet and adorable as I thought he'd be in the last book when he was only a secondary character. I couldn't wait for his time to shine. Jason was wonderful too, he just had a more forceful/dominant personality, and he was much more extroverted than Joe.

Jason was also 43 to Joe's 28, so there is that big age gap there, but it never felt like there was one - aside from the mentions of Jason's gray hairs coming in haha.

I only gave this .5 stars off because it was a bit of a slow read for me at times. Nothing too bad, but there were points that was just taking me longer to read than usual. This also could have used a bit more heat. Not much, because what we got and when we got it made sense for these two and their characters. I just wish once we got to the sexual aspect of their relationship that we'd gotten a bit more.

The romance, the Christmas vibes, the wholesomeness of it all, though, was top notch. And what sex we did get was very good. I'm not usually one who likes the bigger one to be the bottom, or at least the strict bottom, but it 100% worked for Joe's character. He needs and loves to be taken care of, he's a bit of a pillow princess, and Jason loves to take care of him in return.

So I absolutely recommend this one, it's a return to what I feel could be a tradition - wonderful Christmas holiday stories.

Can't wait for the next in this series, whoever it'll be about.

Until then! 🥰

It took me a long while to warm up to Jason because I found him really creepy and predatory to begin with, but once I got to understand his character I ended up liking him.

Joe was an interesting character too, basically a lumberjack version of Snow White, which was different. I'm not entirely sure on how he identified in the end, but I found the relationship and how he expressed himself totally realistic for who he was. Being 28 or 29 and never having kissed someone before, let alone anything else, felt totally normal to me. I'm Ace and if I hadn't been curious about what everyone else was making such a big deal about in my early twenties then there's no doubt I'd be in Joe's shoes too, quite happily.

I did enjoy being back in Belleville though and this had that community feel that the final book of the Christmas Daddies series was missing. I liked getting to see the small town in action and having more interaction with the couple that the book was focussed on. That's my favourite thing about small town books!

Joe was such a sweetheart

I am in LOVE with Joe. He's cute, he's stubborn, he's sweet and most of all, he wears his heart out in his sleeve, and it just so happens to match the heart Jason wears there too.

Just like with every Fae book, things don't always go smoothly between the characters, but this story is just so sweet... very slow, so it was a bit torturous for me who's allergic to slow burns, but it was worth it. And thank god for Jason's persistence because Joe was NOT letting him in.

But then it was JASON who wasn't letting his walls down- these men nearly turned me grey but they eventually sorted their feelings out. When they did, the book turned so cute, warm and fuzzy... the perfect holiday read to gobble down with some hot cocoa under a nice blanket. It's a story of acceptance, trust, found family and how people aren't always what they seem.

As always, Fae never misses.

Fae has done it again. This low-angst book is so cozy, it felt like a warm blanket the entire time I was snuggled up with it. It has everything you could want from a Holiday Romance book and more.

If you’re a fan of Fae’s other works, you won’t be disappointed. This beautifully written grumpy/sunshine goes way beyond the simple trope by adding layers to these MCs that reach beyond what you would expect. Joe and Jason may be one of my favorite couples, their chemistry had me hooked.

The small town and found family vibes are back as we return to Belleville and revisit old familiar people and places. And we get all the fun Christmasy vibes with gingerbread house decorating, tree trimming, gift giving and a Christmas Eve dinner so cozy it made me nostalgic.

Ugh I’m so sad it’s over, much like all of Fae’s books, I never wanted it to end!

It’s a fairly long book so bear with me.
I don’t know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it wasn’t this either.
This book was deeper than I anticipated (that’s a compliment by the way). It also has a dash of grumpy/sunshine: Joe the grumpy one, with his stubbornness to do everything by himself, and Jason the sunshine, an incredibly generous person, yet he is the most complex and layered character in this book.
Both these sweetie pies were using that as a facade. Once Joe’s “I don’t need you help” efforts crumbled down, that man just thrived ✨

“Hello,” Joe said to Marty, then Madison, then Mrs. Beele. Three separate, very serious “hello’s.” Ohmygodlookatmybabygo! Talking to people! Networking! Just like I’d taught him!

I would just like to point out that that man, Joe, I would literally do anything for him 😩 I am weak for him. This huge man with his enormous pecs, sweet smiles, and puppy dog eyes just stole my heart and ran with it ❤️
He is incredibly tender, yet very very LAYERED! Again, I was a bit taken aback by the complexity of the characters 👏🏻 but Joe was an anxious ball of sweetness, always pushing himself to do better, surrounded by animals like he’s freaking Snow white 🥹
LOVED LOVED LOVED HIM!
But when Jason got Joe out of his comfort zone… What I loved the most though is the shyness URGHHH the shyness that was there killed me 😩 that man, Joe, my God I just was to squish him and take a bite.

Jason was as patient with me as I was with my apple trees. Coaxing, the way I was with animals.

The steamy scenes were PERFECT!!!!! It was so so hot 🥵 The way Joe would literally melt at every command from Jason, his submission was absolutely beautiful ✨

I hardly wanted to blink, his surrender was so goddamn beautiful.

“Back—” I gasped, hands finding his wrist and shoving it back down inside my boxers. “Please. Want you to… to touch. S-sorry. Want it. Just… lots. It’s—”

See? Scorching hot ❤️‍🔥

As for Jason, he saw all of that hunky marshmallowy goodness, and said I’ll make him mine. Even though Jason was confused, terrified, anxious, inexperienced in love and relationships, he didn’t waver of falter. The man needed ONE look from a blushing Joe, and any resolve would melt 🫠
Jason broke my heart. He always thought that he needs to be incredibly useful to be wanted. I don’t know how he didn’t break apart from all that pressure he puts on himself 💔 But Joe slowly yet surely got him to lower down his walls, and to unmask this smiley facade, to find a vulnerable man with a ton of insecurities.

“We are friends,” I told him, heart breaking right apart. Or maybe it was mending. Maybe this was what caves felt when they collapsed on themselves, gravel, pebbles, boulders filling the gaps that’d been left behind. Falling apart only to be better formed without the holes.

The truth was… as bright as Jason was, his light was easily dimmed.

It was beautiful to see the differences before and after they started their relationship. Joe’s struggles were obvious, until Jason strutted into his life with his dominance and sexiness 🫠 and Jason was always hiding behind his mask of “helpful elf” until Joe shyly took down his walls one brick at a time.

That love wasn’t something that had to be earned, nor could it be measured. Sometimes it was a feeling, something too strong to be put into words. Something easy. Something soft. Love could be compromise. Could be vulnerable. Could mean letting my walls down. Letting someone in and trusting them to keep my secrets safe.
Love was made up of a thousand tiny choices.
Love was finding peace in silence when you were with the right person.
Love was growing with them. Mirrored effort.
Learning that I could try.
That I could be happy.

Loved this book and all the feels ❤️ and I loved their happily ever after ✨

Jason and Joe were so freaking cute! These total opposites just fit together so perfectly, and I loved them together so much. How it feels when you realize and learn step by step that being invincible together is better than doing it all apart. That’s how this book felt for me. A lesson in trusting another, building something on a friendship, growing confidence, falling in love and then concurring the world - together.

With Snowy we’re back in Belleville and its beloved small-town charm. With a grumpy and sunshine. With one’s stubbornness and the other’s persistence, Fae created a dynamic well fought for, earned and genuine.

A book ideal for the upcoming Holiday season, cocooning you into a warm hug. Feel the magic of a slow burn love through Jason’s and Joe’s eyes. You might even feel the magical power of the holiday spirit through their love.

And who doesn’t love a needy boy… I for one - do.

….

“My entire life, I’d seen people as lessons.” // “The enigma I’d been waiting for.” // “But more than that, I loved to show people what Belleville had shown me. That this place was special. These people were special.” // “And that warm, warm hand was holding me steady.” // “My heart did this wobbly thing in my chest.” // “Jason really was something else.” // “I could lean on him if I needed to because Jason made me feel safe. And nothing about that made me weak.” // “For the first time in my life, it truly felt like I was wanted.” // “When I look at you…all I can think about is how bad I want you to make my burdens disappear. That’s…that’s terrifying. That I might want that. That being vulnerable might not be the bad thing I thought it was.” // “There isn’t a universe where you’re anything but good.” // “Maybe sometimes it was possible to find someone who just fit. The kind of person who was just as interesting unraveled as they were tangled in knots. Someone who accepted you—not because of what you could do for them—but because sometimes love was just a feeling. A feeling of ease.”

….

*I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

If you’ve read any of my reviews you may have noticed that I often don’t pay attention. I am more likely to read a book based on tropes, quotes, vibes, other reviewers I trust, and art than a blurb.

So I saw

Funny
Christmas
Slow burn
Sweet

Not sure why I assumed it would be a fun sweet, simple,
Christmas story since it’s fae quin but here we are. Me totally surprised by the depth and length of the story.

Seriously, Fae can write internal emotions like no other. I feel like I am part of the characters and I can see myself—parts of me—in them.

Both men are coming to terms with that a) they are worthy of love as they are and b) people can be trusted. Their journeys are different but the message is the same. You are worthy and not everyone is a dick.

Well, she’s done it again. Fae’s ability to write holiday themed novels that are simultaneously the sweetest, most wholesome tales of lonely people finding each other and building families together while also being some of the filthiest smut I’ve read all year needs to be studied. The absolute mouths her characters have on them, and it’s always the quiet, unassuming ones who are the worst offenders.

Jason and Joe are truly incredible characters. I completely ate up the initial push and pull between them that was sparked by their clashing personalities. Jason takes one look at Joe and immediately decided that they are going to be friends - a plan that Joe is initially very much not on board with. I loooved how unendingly enthusiastic and determined Jason was in getting to know Joe. There was absolutely nothing Joe could do that would push Jason away (and he really tries). Their personalities worked perfectly together and I adored their dynamic.

The rest of the characters were also lovely as always. I really enjoyed getting to dip back into Belleville and revisit characters from past books. The found family aspect of this book (and the Christmas Daddies series) is so heartwarming and really adds to the cute christmas feel of the world.

Please never stop writing these books, Fae. I NEED them.

An MM holiday romance that’s equal parts heartwarming and steamy! I was kicking my feet and giggling while reading this book!

Jason is a secret millionaire who loves the small town of Beauville, and anonymously does good deeds around town. When newcomer Joe buys the apple orchard in town, Jason immediately takes to him. Joe is grumpy and standoffish, but there’s something so vulnerable in Joe that has Jason’s protective instincts going haywire. Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes is about learning to love, but more importantly, learning how to accept love from others. 🥹

This book has incredible content like:
-holiday small town vibes with awesome townies (including a reading club full of old ladies that love to read smut)
-GREEN FLAG MCs (I’d die for both of them)
-age gap (28/42)
-huge, grumpy, and stoic (but also needy and submissive) younger bottom / smaller, confident, service top
-relatable and impactful character development
-bi-awakening
-some kind of k*nky fun (feminization, plugs, and more!)
-hurt/comfort (but low stakes)
-love and ACCEPTANCE
-opposites attract
-slow burn but very steamy at the end
-snowed in together, renovating together, doing good deeds together

God, this book just PACKED IN so much goodness! The balance between the absolutely heartwarming themes of accepting help and love, and absolutely burning hot chemistry between Joe and Jason was perfect. In usual Fae Quin style, the characters had deep and complex backstories, distinct and lovable personalities, and so much love to give. If you loved her Christmas Daddies series OR Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions (or both), then you will ADORE this.

I must reiterate the fact that Jason and Joe’s dynamic was soooo sexy?? Like, Joe was so pathetic, but in such a sexy way. And he wasn’t pathetic as a character. But like.. in bed? 🫣 That was so much fun! And outside the bedroom, Jason was such a caretaker, while still believing in Joe 1000% and supporting him unconditionally. They were soulmates.

Literally from one you can tell that the book is going to be great. Joe and Jason’s first meeting is very memorable (in a different way from Cloudy, I might add).

An absolutely wonderful holiday romance. Pick it up December 1st 🥰 #JOESON5ever

SO happy to be back in the Christmas Daddies town!! I was hoping that little Joe Milton from Cloudy with a Chance of Bad Decisions would bring us back, and the madman pulled it off.

Much like Fae's other books in this series/saga, the book is borderline saccharine sweet, about 75 pages too long, and complete and utter perfection. Both Jason and Joe were well-thought-out characters, they made so many questionable choices but with very understandable and trauma-defined reasons. Joe was an especially interesting case because I can't remember the last time a character was introduced as a golden retriever himbo, and actively wanted to push back on and break away from that narrative because he hated being seen as helpless. Jason is equally fun as the secret benevolent millionaire with just oceans of trauma from a childhood of neglect.

I've been bouncing back and forth between 4 and 5 stars while writing this, I think this is truly one of the first times in my life I understand the desire for a half-star rating lmao. My one big gripe with the book is in the sex and how kinky it was in terms of their roles.

But this book made my heart so full, and I loved their growth together and the trust that they built up with each other so much, it couldn't possibly be less than 5.

I received an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews, in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Fae Quin, you have done it again. I am in absolute awe of the love Joe and Jason share, just as much (if not more) than I was of the love shared by George and Alex in Cloudy. I didn’t think that was possible.

Let me paint a picture for you: the shy, deceivingly grumpy gentle giant falls for the brash and imposing town gossip with a (not-so) secret heart of gold. Their love burns slow and HOT. They understand each other infallibly. They’re the soulmatest soulmates to ever soulmate.

Not surprisingly, this was a total stand-out in terms of holiday romances I’ve read this year (and ever).

A few things to expect from Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes:
- tentative dislike to friends to lovers (Joe’s POV)
- obsessed at first sight (Jason’s POV)
- small town grocery store owner / apple orchard farmer
- secret class difference
- age gap (low/no-angst)
- wholesome and k!nky

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

I swear Fae Quin writes the gay holiday romances of my dreams. All books I've read from her have been 5 stars basically. This was heartwarming and beautiful, watching two broken men pick up each other's pieces and putting themselves back together again. I genuinely felt like Jason and Joe were soulmates, and that's a hard feeling to convey (at least in my opinion.)
Also this is loosely connected to Cloudy with a Chance of Bad Decisions (Joe is George's brother), so having read that first gave me the little cameos I've always wanted.

Thank you to 'Gay Romance Reviews' for the chance to read this book early. All thoughts are my own and I leave this honest review voluntarily.

It was so wonderful being back in Belleville and seeing old friends and making some new ones as well. I completely fell in love with Joe and Jason. They're were the absolute sweetest together and melted my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed their budding friendship and then turning into so much more. Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes hits all the buttons! It's sweet, steamy, and left me with all the feels! Highly recommend!

This was such a sweet, low-angst, slow burn! A perfect companion to snuggle up under a blanket with.

Joe is the sweetest, most stubborn man you can imagine and Jason has walls so high it seems impossible to break through. When they finally reach each other the chemistry is off the charts.

Great small town vibes and the found family is the best.

Thank you for the arc! My review is honest and voluntary.

Very late ARC RTC but Joe and Jason are precious babies and I love them 😭🥰🥺

Fae has done it again, I loved Joe and Jason! Or should I say Joeson?

The book is such a slooow burn on a whole new level. Absolutely diabolical, and I'm here for it. RIP my sleep schedule bc their dynamic had me craving more. 😂

It's full of push and pull, first with Jason being determined to befriend the new guy in town and desperately trying to learn more about him when Joe is just trying to buy groceries. And by groceries, it's TV dinners 😭

Listing out all the nearby states and seeing which one got a reaction, and then when he got the answer, he immediately went into listing the cities to see where he was from was chefs kiss🤣

Joe is such a babygirl 💖, his first time out on his own in the real world. He's bit off more than he can chew, because he bought an apple orchard with a rundown house.
He's a dreamer, I get it.
So not only is he sleeping on an air mattress, avoiding rotten planks and a stubborn rogue nail sticking out of the floor, he also has all these apples he needs to sell.
He's determined to prove to his mom and his entire family (he's the baby) that he can make it on his own and without help. To him, asking for help feels like admitting defeat and showing weakness.

Jason only feels like he's only a good friend when he's useful, so he's determined to help Joe, and eventually he wears him down. It's simply too much work for one person to do.

They have such a beautiful friendship, both of them being oblivious about their growing feelings for each other.
All the characters were so sweet too, full of whimsy and positivity. I honestly don't think there was a single one I didn't like.
From the old lady smut club who talked about knots, to Jason's ex wife and her hubby who he could always turn to and have a couch to sleep on.

Jason is of course dealing with the most, he thought he was straight, and he's terrified of ruining the friendship, so Joe has to come to him.
They're both experiencing so many firsts together and it was really sweet to see such tenderness.

Jason's mouth should also be registered as a weapon, bc where the hell did he learn how to talk like that?! I'm not okay🥵

Also the epilogue and George and Alex cameos??? I love them so much 😭💖

First times
Friends to lovers
Found family
Small town
No 3rd act breakup

Yeah, so this was so sweet, swoony, tender and so spicy.

I just adored this. #Joeson forever Ugh the town had t-shirts! What a perfect town.

What a beautiful, perfect sweet romantic holiday romance. They were perfect for each other.

Jason, forever feeling the need to prove his worth. Joe, forever needing to prove he is independent and does not need help. When these two collided, what a perfect match they were.

Joe melting for Jason. Jason is just guiding them. Ugh my heart, I loved these two.

“Jason…”
“Yeah?” he asked, huskily. “I’m glad you’re here,”
“I’m glad I’m here, too.”

What a swoony sweet tender romance. A beautiful slow burn that felt so natural and right.

Their town was phenomenal, the perfect found family vibes. No 3rd act breakup… just pure joy and love.

They started out with Jason doing anything to get Joe’s attention, Jason just knowing he needed Joe in his life. Joe was terrified to need help and let someone in.

Oh, my heart, these two were so sweet and adorable. The intimacy between them was everything. So needy and spicy.

“Jason Harker would never be lonely again, if I had anything to say about it.”

How the town all banded together for them, for Jason, for Joe, in so many ways, I cried for them all tears of joy!

These two just wanted to give the other one everything, this was just so sweet. The love they had for each other was incredible. The last bit of this was everything, I literally cried tears of joy.

This was everything.

“You’re Heaven,” Jason told me, hands bracketing my head again. “You know that? You’re my Heaven, Joe.”

So thankful for this arc

Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes is the fourth book in the Christmas Daddies series! Joe (who you meet in Cloudy) moved to Bellvelle to prove to himself and to his family that he could be independent and make something for himself. Jason (who you hear about in IOIOD) is the town gossip and a secret millionaire who insists on helping out the town whenever they need it. Jason is 43 and owns (secretly) the grocery store in town. He meets 29 year old Joe and they get off to a bad start. Joe misjudge’s him and avoids him when he can.
Jason, not deterred, wants to be Joe’s friend and does anything he can to make it happen.
When he finds out how stressed Joe is with all the projects he has to get done before Christmas and his family coming, he decides to help. He creates a Santa Fund and pretends a benefactor is giving money away every year to help someone. He also helps renovate his home during a snow storm and gets him food and groceries.
Joe lets his guard down and suddenly both have feelings they never had before.

Tropes/kinks:

Millionaire romance
Small town
Hallmark/ Gilmore Girl vibes
Gossipy town
Bi-awakening
Virgin MC

Omg I can’t tell you how much I smiled reading this book! Definitely a new comfort read!!! Joe and Jason are so cute and sweet and I lived for them!!!! I loved seeing Alex and George from Cloudy (makes me want to do a reread) and hearing about the Montgomery’s! I love that Joe is Baxter’s cousin (I legit screamed when I read that in Cloudy btw). Not notes, this is a fun, sweet, heartwarming read!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Snowy Skies and Puppy Eyes felt like Christmas magic under the coziest blanket. From the moment the story started, I was wrapped in twinkle lights, and all the holiday vibes.

The romance is slow-burn and gentle, with that sweet “dislike-to-friends-to-lovers” arc, perfect if you love a build-up where feelings simmer before bursting into love.

The characters, Jason & Joe, had this soft vulnerability mixed with quiet strength. Their chemistry isn’t loud or over-the-top. It’s subtle, warm, and honest. It gives you those heart-flutter moments without drama overload.

I also loved the setting: small-town charm (Belleville, which is the same setting as the Christmas Daddies series), the tension of a new start for Joe, and the holiday atmosphere that feels like falling snow and cozy evenings by the fire. Everything about it made me believe in second chances, gentle healing, and that maybe love can sneak up when you least expect it.

If you’re looking for a romance that feels like a holiday movie in book form (soft, sweet, comforting, and full of hope) this book is exactly that. It warmed my heart, made me believe in romance again, and reminded me why I love winter reads so much.

Includes cameos from the Christmas Daddies series and Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions

I received a free copy of this book via GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

1️⃣ **Overall Rating:** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2️⃣ **Overview/Synopsis:**: Joe is going to make this apple orchard a success, cone he’ll or high water. Jason just wants to help make sure he’s taken care of. Even if Joe avoids him like the plague.

3️⃣ **Favorite Character:**: Joe Milton. You sweet sweet baby.

4️⃣ **Most Memorable Scene:**: The first time, it’s so incredibly sweet and 🔥🔥

5️⃣ **Favorite Quote or Line:**: “You think being a pillow princess is embarrassing?” I tried not to be amused and failed.

6️⃣ **Overall Review Summary:**: Joe Milton I love you and I never knew I needed a giant, hunky, beefcake of a Snow White. But I did. Thank you Fae for delivering.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between Joe and Jason. Jason knew exactly how to care for Joe and his anxiety, which is something I love seeing represented. Jason just wants Joe to be happy and taken care of. and Joe knows Jason just needs to be seen and loved as all of him.

This is a slow burn and I found myself getting antsy for the F*ck it moment, but Quin absolutely delivers when it’s time. I love a needy bottom and Joe is the best boy when it comes down to it.

Really though this is a heartwarming story about love and being loved. They both have had struggles with being seen and letting people In, it was wonderful getting to see them find each other and find the love they needed and deserved.

Last holiday season, I binged the Christmas Daddies series by this author. (❤️❤️❤️) This season, she took us Back to Belleville with SNOWY SKIES AND PUPPY EYES.

Jason has always been a behind the scenes mover in his small town. Hiding his fortune that only every caused him loneliness as a child, he's secretly made sure all his town is safe and needs are met. Joe left his family behind in Ohio to move to Vermont and fulfill his dreams by buying an apple farm. Their romance is a slow burn of friendship first, leading to a bi-awakening for Jason (in his 40s) and a first time in love for Joe (late 20s). Once they figure out what they want from each other, though, it gets spicy in all the best ways. I loved seeing previous characters again, but these two may be my favorite of the author's contemporary romances. Jason finds his footing in being Joe's safe place and Joe overcomes his own shyness in order to prove to Jason that the home and family he had always needed was right there. This book is going in my re-read pile for certain! (And now I need to read her paranormal backlist as well, since I've read all the contemporaries. ) Just like the town, I am now team "Joesen 5Ever"!

Thank you, Fae Quin, for allowing me into your ARC team and for the gifted eARC !
