"Were you trapped...or did you trap yourself?"- vol 6

I went in for HiFreakkaru x Yoshiki content and came out questioning my every belief about what is normalcy in human experiences, forms of grief and the allowances one makes for humans and those who are not quite human.

I'd only heard stuff before this...but Japanese horror really is jst smth else...

The story begins with our boy Hikaru dies in a ditch and a "monster", wearing his body, passes himself off as him peak identity theft gets caught by Yoshiki who has had longtime feelings for his "best friend" (cuz theres gotta be Yaoi...mmm horrory Yaoi...)

All this divulged into a bunch of teenagers trying to close up otherworldly tears in their universe so that no more dead souls can use the real people souls WHILE questioning themselves if the "Hikaru" monsters really is that bad and just how much of human nature can they expect him to understand. Can you really trust the monster wearing the face of deceased loved one?

How similar are the monsters outside to the ones inside us? And just how different?

Side note- After reading this volume, I'm pretty sure about one thing... Authornim woke up and chose pain and suffering for us innocent innocent readers...

La historia entre el volumen 7 y el 8 se mantiene súper interesante. La verdad es que al principio me costaba entender un poco toda la trama, pero estos últimos volúmenes se me hacen menos densos y súper entretenidos.

Me parece fuertísimo que la mujer tenga como hijo al de las gafas de sol (ayuda se me da tan mal acordarme de los nombres). Me da que pensar que el chico de las gafas de sol tuvo una especie de espíritu en algún momento pero que en la compañía se lo sacaron (?
Y bueno rezando estoy porque Hikaru pueda volver con Yoshiki 😭🙏. Cuando parecía que todo estaba yendo bien las cosas han dado un giro de 180° y ahora de repente todo va peor.
Al pobre Yoshiki se le ve traumado. Me da a mí que la historia va a acabar muy mal para él.

Me ha parecido muy adorable y tristísimo que Yoshiki haya podido abrirse y decir que tenía sentimientos por el verdadero Hikaru (que absolutamente todos lo sabíamos ya, pero bueno, no está de más JAJSJSJ).

Y la verdad no sé qué pensar sobre absolutamente nada. Cada volumen que leo me quedo más “qué🗿” que con el anterior. Cosa que me encanta, porque no se si esperarme un final bonito, un final filosófico (tipo: hay que aprender a dejar ir), un final horrible, un final pacífico o de muerte y destrucción. Que ganas de descubrir cómo se sigue desarrollando todo esto. Espero que la historia dure muchísimo tiempo más, y que hagan muchas más temporadas de anime 🙏.

This manga is becoming hard to read in the best possible way: the angst reaches all times high, and each chapter actually hurts me to read. It pains me to see the characters I grew to love so much go through so much, and it’s actually harder to imagine how they can reach any kind of happy ending. The intensity of the plot is a net that tightens around them, taking the reader in its grips, and I wish I could just binge read to the end.

This intense plot still allows breathable chapters where the characters go through more development. This volume especially helps “Hikaru” in understand what he actually wants to do with his existence, and the importance of a life, in parallel to Yoshiki understanding what being a human, or a monster, means. As always, even without any interaction from them both, their paths will always converge towards each other, and they will always grow with each other.

QUE MONO QUE ESTÁ MI NIÑO CON SU NUEVO CORTE DE PELO, PARECE YA TODO UN ADULTO.

Dicho esto, he de decir que, aunque sé que Kurebayashi está haciendo todo eso con el bienestar tanto del pueblo como de Yoshiki en mente, a la larga, va a acabar sufriendo todo el mundo.

Y me alegra que Yoshiki se esté empezando a dar cuenta de que tiene a Hikaru muy idealizado, ya que hasta él mismo reconoce que sufrió muchas veces por su culpa. Después de leer a Hikaru decir que el protagonista de la película era demasiado sensible para ser un hombre, queda patente el porqué Yoshiki está tan apegado a «Hikaru»; pese a ser un monstruo incapaz de entender los sentimientos humanos, nunca ha juzgado ni ha hecho sentir menos a Yoshiki por su homosexualidad.

Dos agujeros han sido cerrados, pero las consecuencias de sus actos los aprisionan. Mientras Yoshiki confiesa la verdadera identidad de "Hikaru" y lo que tienen entre ellos a Asako, la compañía de Tanaka planea una captura en las sombras.

El tomo donde todo empieza a ir terriblemente mal. Espero que esto signifique que las cosas mejorarán de aquí hasta el clímax de la obra, aunque nunca he imaginado esta obra con un final feliz. Creo que la trama entre Tanaka y la señora Kurebayashi se ha resuelto demasiado rápido, como que ha sido algo que se veía venir pero la resolución y la conclusión han ido volando.

I had a lot of feelings with this one. Just about the boys and how they care for one another, and about how humans just form such complex relationships. All that, in the midst of trying to save others and fight monsters. Perfection.

Y también se revelan por fin dos datos que todos sabíamos, pero precisamente por eso han resultado tan satisfactorios. Ya queda poquito para que acabe del todo...
