Dial M For Mates #8

Wrong Number, Right Panther

Rate this book
Sometimes the wrong number is the exact one you need.

I’m far too old to be playing truth or dare anywhere, much less at a bonfire. Yet here I am, attempting to protect my little brother from himself, only to be the one in a hot-ass mess.

I accept one little send a pic of your beast to your ex. I try to get out of it, using the excuse that I deleted their sorry self from my phone. When a partygoer tells me they have the number, my plea is denied.

And that’s how I end up sending a picture of my panther to my piece-of-garbage ex after drinking far too many beers. Fingers crossed, he blocked me long ago.

The next morning I discovered I didn’t send it to my ex. Nope, it went to a total stranger, and the caption, “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours” has the person on the other end thinking I’m keeping wild animals illegally.

I dug myself into this mess, and now I need to dig myself out of it, even if that means meeting the stranger before they report me to the Game Commission.

Wrong Number, Right Panther is a sweet with knotty heat MM Mpreg romance featuring an alpha panther whose memorization wasn’t as good as everybody thought, the human omega who learns that not all pictures tell the whole story, the wrong number that brings the two together, true love, fated mates, an adorable baby, and a happy ever after. If you love your alphas hot, your omegas strong, and your mpreg with heart, download your copy today.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wrong Number, Right Panther by Colbie Dunbar absolutely stole my heart!

This story hooked me from the very first chaotic wrong-number moment. Lincoln and Bronson are such a fun and irresistible pairing—one ridiculous dare turns into the sweetest, sexiest, fate-written love story. I loved how Colbie Dunbar balanced humor, heat, and heart. The texting mishap was hilarious, but what really sold it for me was how real their chemistry felt once they met. Lincoln’s protective alpha energy and Bronson’s warmth and strength were a perfect match.

This book has everything I want in a shifter romance—fated mates, laugh-out-loud moments, knotty steam, and a swoony HEA that left me smiling long after I finished. The mpreg elements fit perfectly into the story and added so much emotional depth. And the baby? Adorable.

If you love MM romance with an alpha who means business, an omega who can hold his own, and a relationship that starts with a mistake but ends in destiny, this is one you NEED to read. I couldn’t put it down.

Highly recommended—and one of my favorites in the series!.

Wrong Number, Right Panther is the 8th book in the Dial M For Mates series. This book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Lincoln an alpha panther shifter and Bronson an omega human. I loved this sweet quick read in the wrong numbers series. So many things can go wrong when you're a shifter and send a picture of you shifted to the wrong number. Things can also turn out perfect with some work put in. This book made me smile so much. I loved all the characters except Bronson's mom but you're not supposed to like her. I think this may be my favorite book in the series. I can't wait for more books in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

A very entertaining read. Accidentally sending a picture to a wrong number causes all sorts of problems for Lincon and Bronson and it is great fun seeing it all get sorted out.

Wrong Number Right Panther is, I think, the eighth book in the ‘Dial M for Mates’ series. This stars Bronson, an omega human, and Lincoln, an Alpha panther shifter. It’s told in first person from Bronson and Lincoln’s pov.

2.5 Stars

The blurb doesn’t really give an idea of what the book is about. And it’s written in the vague way of only one pov. The plot is basic and simple and the only part that’s different from other books in this series, is how the two men meet. Lincoln is dared to send a photo of himself to his ex-boyfriend by a creepy guy who Lincoln’s brother is pawing over. Lincoln gets pulled into a game of truth or dare, and even though he chooses truth the creepy guy dares Lincoln to send his panther picture to Lincoln’s ex. Here’s a big loophole. Lincoln doesn’t have his number and he’s slightly drunk, can’t remember it, but lo and behold, the creepy guy has it. It’s never explained how the creepy guy has it or why Lincoln is so weak he just goes along with the dare. I get the feeling it’s convenient for the authors to create their plot without having to make a coherent explanation on who creepy guy is and how he got the ex’s number. Anyway, Lincoln sends the picture to the wrong number and it goes to Bronson who thinks that Lincoln has a wild animal as an illegal pet. Bronson is furious and texts he’ll tell the authorities. Lincoln agrees to meet up with Bronson to explain and then he realizes Bronson is his mate.

After that, the story slips into the ‘too much sex’ zone, along with ‘too much pregnancy and giving birth’ stuff that this author team likes to write about. This book is probably suited best for readers who love the idea of getting pregnant and the idea of having babies. I would’ve preferred far less sex and more couple and character growth.

This book is filled with far too much monologue which makes this story telling instead of showing. Instead of having the characters interact with dialogue and emotions, there would be some dialogue and then the scene would slide into, ‘he explained,’ or ‘he told,’ or ‘he mentioned,’ etc. and then continue in a long boring monologue of an explanation instead of writing emotions that readers can experience and relate to. This author team really should learn to write less monologue and more showing to make their stories more interesting.

Lincoln and Bronson were very generic, like the characters in the authors’ other stories. Except for Bronson losing his temper at the beginning, their voices were much the same, as usual.

There’s nothing unique about this particular story so I wouldn’t recommend it. The authors have some better ones out. I round up my 2.5 Stars, and give Wrong Number, Right Panther, 3 Stars.

He sent the wrong pic. Fate sent the right mate.

Alpha panther shifter Lincoln is too old for bonfire dares and way too sober to be sending flirty pics to his ex. One wrong digit later, his panther photo lands in Bronson’s inbox instead. Human omega Bronson, convinced someone’s keeping wild animals, is ready to call the authorities. That mistake sets off a chain of chaos neither of them saw coming.

When they meet face to face, nothing plays out how they expect. Lincoln feels the pull of a mate bond he can’t ignore. Bronson knows Lincoln isn’t who he claims to be. Curiosity turns to chemistry, and something deeper starts to take root.

But trust takes time. Lincoln keeps secrets to protect them both. Bronson keeps his guard up to protect himself. As walls begin to fall, what starts with a mistake becomes something real. Something worth holding on to.

Lincoln grows from guarded to grounded, learning to trust and let love in. Bronson lets down his walls too, choosing connection over control. Together, they build a bond that’s stronger than instinct, rooted in love, honesty, and choice.

A steamy, wrong number, MM, fated mates, mpreg, alpha-omega shifter romance filled with connection, found family, surprise pregnancy, and emotional depth. It explores mistaken identity, trust, personal growth, acceptance, and unconditional love. It’s about finding love through chaos, choosing vulnerability over fear, and building a life that’s messy, real, and absolutely worth it.

The Elevator Pitch: A panther shifter sends a flirty pic to the wrong number and ends up meeting the one person he’s destined to love. Sparks fly, secrets build, and a wild connection turns into something deeper neither of them saw coming. With fated mates, steamy tension, and a surprise that changes everything, their love hits hard and stays tender.

This is book 8 in the Dial M for Mates series. Each book is a standalone read and features a different couple. This is the story of Lincoln and Bronson. Lincoln is an alpha panther shifter. When playing truth or dare while keeping an eye on his younger brother, Lincoln sends a picture of his panther to his ex. But he was given the wrong number and accidentally sent it to an unknown number with the caption, “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours". Bronson is an omega human and the lucky recipient of the drunk text. Bronson immediately reacts to the text threatening to "shut down your illegal possession of an endangered animal" and report him to authorities. When Lincoln finally sobers up he finds the messages and panics. He needs to explain this away so that shifters aren't revealed to humans. He thinks he has a plan and begs Bronson to meet him somewhere public so that he can explain. Lincoln is shocked to find out that Bronson is his fated mate when they meet. And Bronson, a human is affected by the mate pull without realizing it. He knows Lincoln is lying but he wants to spend time with him and believe him. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. What an unusual way to meet someone. I loved it. The book is well written and easy to read. I liked that his little brother told him he had to tell Bronson the truth even if he was afraid that it would scare Bronson off. That is a hard second date reveal for sure. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Lincoln and Bronson . . .

Lincoln is an alpha panther shifter who played truth or dare with friends and he ended up having to send a picture of his panther to his ex. But he accidentally sends the photo to a stranger with a caption saying “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours", having dialed one of the phone number digits wrong. Now he has to arrange a face-to-face meeting with the human he sent the photo, hoping to talk him out of reporting him for illegally keeping an endangered animal as a pet! A follow-up investigation would endanger all the shifters if the authorities started snooping around.

It turns out Bronson is a human omega and was upset that this person was keeping an endangered animal. Lincoln tried to convince Bronson over the phone that he was a wildlife photographer and had snapped that pic of a panther in the wild. Lincoln finally begs Bronson to meet with him in person and he would explain everything. It turns out that Bronson is Lincoln's fated mate! Can Lincoln convince him not to report him? And will he try to explain that he and Bronson are actually fated mates based on his scent when they first met? Or will he walk away from Bronson rather than reveal the shifter secret? You won't want to miss their story. It's delightful and endearing as we watch Lincoln try to explain everything away while Bronson is determined to do the right thing for the endangered animal. Is there a HEA in their future or will this be The End?

At least once in th Dial M for Mates series, Dunbar/Hart has used sending to the wrong number as the meet cute. This is a new twist on the meet cute.

-Lincoln, there's a reason he's your ex and why you deleted his number
-Don't get drunk while over Alphing your younger brother
-Don't take a phone number from someone who is probably as drunk as you

Prudishly, I have very strong opinions on photographing unmentionables (won't make it past censors with that word). The cute meet with the human Omega, Bronson, was sweet. Having to concoct a story that keeps you out of jail, and keeps the shifter world safe is just Karma. Luckily, Bronson is his mate.
We get the usual: the Reveal, steamy sizzle, a pregnancy. But the authors threw in an annoying, controlling human mama.
Lincoln's panther gets all the good lines and zingers. Which alone makes this a worthwhile read. Maybe.... maybe, turn down the heat. Just a tad. The authors didn't go overboard on labor originality. But there are some laugh out loud moments.
The series is a comfortable read for me. Fun. Quick. Lordy knows, left to her own devices, Dunbar goes a bit dark. Luckily the Hart team keeps things light.

Overall, this was an okay read, but I did find some inconsistencies in the story. Towards the beginning of the story, Bronson had said that his parents had a great marriage, and then shortly after that, he spoke about his mom losing his father. But later on in the book, he speaks about his parents being divorced when he was really young and not really having a relationship with his father, always being just him and his mother. Earlier in the book, his mother was trying to set him up with random Alphas. But when she called him about setting him up on a date with a doctor who is the son of one of her friends, he lied and said he had a boyfriend, and she appeared to be ecstatic and wanted to know everything about him. But then when she comes upon him and Lincoln at the restaurant, she's upset that he's with somebody that she didn't pick and was extremely rude to Lincoln. So those inconsistencies in the story made it less pleasurable. Also, when the baby started crawling, why did they have to leave to go to someplace else that was safe to shift when Lincoln bought his house because it backed up to the woods and he was able to safely shift?.

When a panther shifter responds to a dare by sending a picture of himself, shifted, at a party, to the wrong number, the threat of being reported to the Game Commission leads him to meeting the man behind the wrong number. Not only that but it leads to him discovering a shocking truth about the human and wondering if the other man will ever accept him for who he truly is.

This is the eighth book in the Wrong Number series and in my opinion at least, one of the best. Why? For me it is the humour of the interactions between Lincoln and his panther - they are brilliant, laugh-out-loud funny at times. Then there is Bronson, the man who got the text, the wrong number, the human. He is battling his mother's attempts to set him up and trying really hard not to fell things for the handsome man whose number he now has.

But Lincoln is a shifter, Bronson a human. Can they make something between them work? Will sending a message to a wrong number become all sorts of right for them both?

A very funny, very charming shifter story.

This was a cute, low-angst romance that had me laughing throughout, with one heck of a way to first meet your mate. I enjoyed the story and seeing Bronson and Lincoln work their issues out. Bronson annoyed me at first with his reactions, but I warmed up to him as the story went along. I enjoyed seeing Lincoln and Bronson actually communicate and work together, and I liked that the book actually had the advertised mpreg as a plot point versus thrown in at the very end. Plus, Lincoln’s panther cracked me up with his commentary throughout the book, which was a nice bonus.

I do wish we could have seen Mike get his comeuppance cause he was a jerk, and kind of curious what he had against Lincoln to set all this in motion, but I think that was just “waves hand” to set up the story versus relevant beyond just setting the plot in motion.

A lovely shifter story with mpreg and an overbearing mother.
Playing truth or dare at a party while drinking is never a good idea.
Lincoln send a picture in panther form to his ex boyfrind because of a dare. The only problem, the picture is now in the hands of a stranger. After meeting at a cafe Lincoln know right away that this is his mate. His very human mate wich make this whole situation even more difficult. Bronson don't know what to belive, but there is a great attraction toward the man claiming to be a wildlife photographer. I loved Lincoln and Bronson together. Their relationship progressed with good speed, but Bronsons mother was a totally different case. The ending was very sweet with a happily ever after.

It all started with a dare!

Omg! I absolutely love this series. And Wrong Number, Right Panther is the 8th book in it.

If you love insta-love stories with fated mates and adorable babies, this series is for you. Every single one from Book 1 until now, is an absolute must read!

On a dare, Lincoln, a Panther shifter accidentally sends a picture of his beast to a wrong number, which belongs to human, Bronson, who thinks he's keeping an animal in captivity. When the two meet to try and clear up the misunderstanding, there is a pull to the other that Bronson can't explain, but Lincoln and his beast can - he's their fated!

To find out more, you will need to pick up this beautiful read and find out how their first encounter of lies and a meddling mother, led to their hea!

Wrong Number, Right Panther is a charming, light-hearted addition to the Dial M For Mates series, and works perfectly well as a standalone. Lincoln’s drunkenly mis-sent photo—of his actual panther form, no less—sets off a wonderfully funny and sweet chain of events. Bronson’s bewildered reaction made me grin, and their eventual connection feels warm, natural, and full of heart.

The romance is adorable, the mpreg element adds a lovely touch, and most of the side characters are great (with the clear exception of Bronson’s mum). This was a quick, smile-inducing read and easily one of my favourites in the series.

The first portion of this book had interactions and reactions that

Hilarious. That's my reaction to the initial portion of this book. After Linc's oops text, Bronson's reactions struck me as funny (although it was a serious matter). Dunbar's way of introducing these two will stick with me for a long time. They might even find humor in it themselves... eventually.😉 The inclusion of Bronson's mother and her matchmaking attempts had me SMH, but smiling all the while. Despite the rocky start, these two were so cute together. Communication and procrastination seem to be problem areas for them to manage with time. Interesting challenge.

Lincoln and Bronson story was entertaining with funny and emotional moments.
The Wrong number hits again this time pairing a panther and a human.
Their first encounter was hilarious and a bit intense, with a side of caution and a little freak out but not for the obvious reasons.
I liked their courtship and their time spent together, but I was a little bit exasperated by Bronson's mom.
Lincoln's brother was a hoot and I really hope he’ll get his happiness.
I really enjoyed the birthing scene and the little bundle of joy that joined them.
I loved the story, and I’m looking forward to the next adventure.

I am so in love with this series! You need to read them all. The characters are vivid and easy to visualize. The premise is simple: a wrong number turns out to be the right one in the end. Lincoln and Bronson are perfect for each other. Look for an overbearing mother, a delightfully upbeat brother, and a birth to remember. I was totally invested in this story from the first pages. It pulled me in and never let go. It is a sweet, sexy romp that will leave you smiling. You have to grab this book Now!.

This was a really cute story with a very slice of life feel to it. The biggest conflict was with Bronson's mother trying to be a bit too controlling and thankfully that was resolved fairly painlessly. Lincoln and Bronson were quite cute together and aside from spicy times, most of the time when I read about them it made me smile at how cute they were with each other. Definitely one to pick up if you want a fluffy and relaxing read with pretty much no angst.

Out of all the books in this series, I think this one...book 8 was one of the most fun to read. I absolutely love Bronson and Lincoln first meet. Bronson sticking to his guns and not backing down on his beliefs and Lincoln backpeddling...it was cute and comical all at the same time. Fate has a way on putting these mates together and this was a wonderful pairing. I love their banter along with their chemistry. Hardly no angst...just a fun and sweet romance. Nice HEA...I recommend.

Wrong Number Right Panther was an instalove, omega verse, romance between Lincoln and Bronson. Lincoln accidentally sends Bronson a picture of his panther and they agree to meet, because Bronson threatens to turn him in for keeping a wild animal as a pet. What they meet, Lincoln discovers that Bronson is his fated mate. Things get even more complicated after that, because Bronson is a human and Lincoln is a shifter.

It is crazy to play games like truth or dare while drinking because regret often comes in the morning. Lincoln takes the dare to send a picture of his beast to an ex and finds out that he sent his picture to the wrong number. He sent it to a human who was not sure what to think and he threatens to report the sender. It turns out that human omega Bronson is alpha panther shifter Lincoln's mate. It was tricky but fate helps these mates find a way to one another.

Colbie Dunbar and Lorelei M Hart just get better with each new book. This is Book 8 of the series but can be read as a standalone.

The plot was intriguing and exciting and deliciously steamy. World building was well developed and drawn. The characters drove the storyline and they were so very likeable and perfect for each other. A great reading experience! Enjoyed immensely and thoroughly and highly recommend.

This is a really cute story about Lincoln, who is an alpha panther shifter who is dead to send a picture of his beast to his ex, but he gets it wrong and sends it to Bronson who is an omega human. What starts off as a dare turns into a happily ever after. And a romance that will last through all time. That sounds a little sappy, but that’s how the story goes.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Wrong Number, Right Panther is the 8th installment of the Dial M for Mates series. In this book, our panther shifter, alpha Lincoln, accidentally drunk texts a picture of his beast to omega human, Bronson. Bronson, out of concern for the animal, threatens to report Lincoln to the gaming commission. I really enjoyed these two characters, possibly one of my favorites pairings of this series. Lincoln proves to be a very patient alpha while Bronson shows his fire and compassion when he insists that Lincoln turn over the wild animal and provides ways for him to do so without getting into trouble. Bronson is clever, compassionate, and smart. Lincoln is strong, driven, and supportive. If you like fated mates, spice, and adorable babies, then definitely pick this one up.

Too funny! Linc sends a picture of his panther to the wrong person, Bronson a human. Bronson, thinks Linc is illegally keeping an animal. There are few opportunities not to laugh in this story. Absolutely deliciously sweet and Bronson's Mom's keeps you grounded. Good story. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A fun, steamy shifter romance with a quirky “wrong number” twist. The alpha panther and human omega have great chemistry, and the mix of humor, heat, and heart makes this a satisfying read. Perfect if you love fated mates, mpreg, and a guaranteed happy ending.
