I’m not gonna lie, I read this book because I’m behind on my reading challenge and needed something quick to help me catch up! I know, I know... I can reduce my reading challenge... but that’s not the point!
I stumbled upon the book at the bottom of a box I was clearing out and it took me less than 5 minutes to read. I never read stuff like this and definitely wasn’t expecting much at all. After a couple pages I was like “oh, this is one of those books parents read to their kids while they fall asleep.” While I was reading it I realized it would put anyone to sleep, it’s so fucking boring. I think I caught myself snoring a couple times. There is no thought put into any of the sentences; it’s not even clever or quirky in any way and many of the sentences only loosely match the animal pictures they’re associated with. I’ve read other meant-for-children books and they’re actually enjoyable and had some thought put into them. Whoever created this book put zero effort in. I don’t like that. Why are you making things if you’re not even trying? Go make something you actually care about and stop wasting everyone’s time.
Sorry for sounding grumpy. Maybe I just need a hug ;)
I would’ve given it one-star for complete lack of effort, but the extra star is for the small dog on page 35.
A cute book, along the lines of the 'Blue Day Book' with pictures of cuddly adorable animals in heartwarming poses. Ostensibly about hugs, it sometimes feels like the author attempts to use random hugging advice to string together random photos of non-related cute animals. But whatever. Its heartwarming, cheesy and cute, and there's a photo of piglets in a bucket! Squee!
