Looking for a quick dark fantasy wolf shifter romance that's full of all the kinky claiming, breeding, knotting, marking, and even beast form mating then look no further because WOW, this book was wild and fun!

This was my first book by L.V. Lane and coming into the series on book 13 was no problem at all. It's a standalone super fast fun spicy read that had me melting into a puddle from the heat.

- FMC: Evanthe
- MMC's: Ranulf, Alden, Beric
- POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Evanthe, Ranulf, Alden, Brice)

-----------------------------------

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Evanthe is a human who lives in a town called Merrywood. She likes it, but it is more common for Orc raids to attack the town. Thankfully the town is also protected by a pack of wolf shifters. Only they do sometimes have to pay a wolf tithe. And after the latest raid, it appears that Evanthe was chosen by the triad of wolves that saved them as the wolf tithe this time around.

REVIEW: (SPOILER WARNING)

I love the Coveted Prey series and I'm always happy to see new books come out for it. This one was okay. A little too short so not much character building, but it as okay.

The one thing that did bug me was that she was able to take their knots without training. In previous books if a human wasn't an omega, then it's not possible for her to take knots unless her body is trained over a period of weeks first. So this didn't follow along with the lore of the world.

Still, it was pretty hot. Loved the sharing, but would've loved some m/m too. ;)

Overall it was alright. I'm looking forward to the next full length novel though because I think I like them a bit better.

I loved this short and spicy read which is book 13 in the Coveted Prey series. As always Ms. Lane paints a descriptive picture of the characters’ surroundings, this story taking place in a quaint but busy village. Our FMC Evanthe has moved there for work as a seamstress for a kindly older shop owner. Evanthe loves her parents and younger siblings but felt the need to independently take care of herself by getting a job. She also sends money to help back home when she can.

The bustling village is protected from raiders and other attackers by a very powerful nearby pack of wolf shifters. The wolf shifters will sometimes take tributes after they have assisted and protected the villagers, sometimes in the form of food or goods, and sometimes in the form of a human woman who becomes one of their mates.

During an attack by raiders, Evanthe is not only personally saved by multiple shifters, but is also then claimed by a triad of shifters. The head of the triad, Ranulf, instantly senses her as their mate and actually bites her and marks her with a claim. After completing a daunting task set by Ranulf’s brother who is the pack leader and who has also claimed a human woman as his mate and pack queen, the triad will be allowed to go get their mate.

Evanthe instantly feels a connection to her wolf shifters in all of their forms, as wolves, as werewolves, and as human men. Their mission in their lives becomes instantly centered on providing and caring for her and keeping her safe and happy. I loved how they right away began gathering things that they knew would make a cozy nest and home for Evanthe - rugs, blankets, books.

This was a short read and came to a happy conclusion quickly as she is very happy with her mates, her new home, she has made friends with the human wolf queen, and knows that her mates will oblige her in letting her visit and stay in contact with her beloved parents and siblings.

L.V. Lane brings readers the thirteenth novel in the Coveted Prey series with a bang. The story of Evanthe and Ranulf starts with Evanthe just going to work in the Merrywood forest. Her start as an apprentice to a local seamstress. Not knowing that she will be in the running to be a fated mate for the three wolves that keep her forest safe from all attackers. Ranulf’s day starts off with a trip to the pack’s center den and quarters, not in their wolf form but in their human forms. Not a good sign.
The trio must find a mate quickly. They must find the pretty one in the Merrywood forest before another creature gets to her. Little do they know that that one is Evanthe herself. Evanthe calls the trio to her not knowing fully what that means to call the wolves to her, but her seamstress leader tells her.
Ranulf and his brothers find Evanthe and a deep connection between them sets in. Mistress Nina helps Evanthe through the paces she needs to understand the mates she has. Through the mind speak and knowledge she needs to understand the emotions that come with the pairing of three shifters. Does Evanthe’s heart have room for all three brothers? Does the pack take in the human? All these questions and more are answered in Claimed by Wolves.

Claimed by the Wolves is the thirteenth book in the Coveted Prey series written by L. V. Lane.

💜 small town
💜 wolf packs
💜 mating
💜 trials
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spice

Evanthe left her home to go to Merrywood and become an apprentice to Mistress Nina, a seamstress. She likes what she is doing and has living quarters above the shop with Mistress Nina. This allows her to write and send coin to her parents back home. One day, she heard some rumors floating around town and asked about them. Could they be true? Could the closest wolf pack really ask for a tithe in return for protection? Would they really take a human woman for a mate?

This was a good addition to this series. I liked how there was still more world building done. You could read these stories as stand alone books, but you do get to see characters from other stories pop up. So reading them in order does help deepen your understanding of the overarching storyline and world. This was a fun, short story that I enjoyed. I can’t wait to see if any other story comes out in this world.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA....this novella has some SUPER spicy love scenes! Quite smutty and I loved it!! The story begins with Evanthe, an apprentice under Mistress Nina, a local seamstress. She began hearing stories not long after she arrived in the town of Merrywood. Stories about wolves and wolf tithes.

One night, she awakens to a loud bell ringing signaling the presence of raiders. In her haste to escape, one of the raiders pursues her and wolves come to her rescue! She runs into the woods to hide, and one of the wolves finds her. To her surprise, she doesn't feel afraid.

Upon returning back to her house, she realizes that she has been claimed! Not just by one wolf, but by three! When they come back to claim her, she realizes that they intend to share her and make her their mate. Those three sexy werebeasts claim Evanthe, but she also claims them....happy reading!
So excited to receive an ARC copy of this book to review!

This was another book rec and part of the Omegaverse. And I know that this is book 13 of the series but a few reviews said that it could be read as a standalone.

It was a pretty short and quick read and would have helped me decide if I start from the beginning.

I won't be starting or continuing the rest of this series. I found it really difficult to get into the story and form any kind of connection with the characters. I'm not saying that it was awful it just wasn't for me.

I kinda lost interest when I read the word 'Orc' and I was just imagining some kind of twisted LOTR with wolf shifters. I was already close to adding to the DNF but as it was a really short book I just wanted to finish it. Maybe see if I would change my mind about it. It didn't happen.

It was short and spicy which is what I expected but apart from that, its really the only positive thing I can say when it comes to the story for me personally.

Stay out of the woods!

Mistress Nina gives Evanthe a charm marking her as off limits to the wolves, but Evanthe doesn’t know this. Evanthe should have done what seamstress Nina said, “run to the garrison, not the woods”. The town is attacked by raiders, she doesn’t get to safety of the garrison, but finds herself in the middle of the raid. A wolf saves her, but she runs into the woods. The wolves save the town from the raiders. A dark wolf approaches her in the forest where she is hiding. The wolf licks her neck. She doesn’t know it but now she has been marked as a wolfen tithe. The town folks turn on her after the wolves have marked her door with scratches. The black wolf also marks her room with his seed. Read how Evanthe tries to fit in her new world with her three new mates. This is a wonderful addition to the Lost Line collection.

There's only one thing that makes me slightly disappointed about this book: I'm used to this author's books being much longer, and I wish this one had been. Evanthe left her small village and set off to try and make a life of her own and also be able to send money back to help her parents and her siblings. She's an apprentice at a seamstress and staying in a room above the shop. After hearing stories about wolves that protect the town and take their payment in a variety of ways, she was a little bit nervous. While fast asleep, she wakes up to the ringing of an alarm and finds out that the town is being attacked by raiders. While trying to navigate the streets to find safety, she is almost attacked but is saved on a couple of occasions by wolf shifters. Ranulf, Alden, and Beric have found their mate; they just have to complete one challenge to be able to claim her. This was super hot.

Evanthe is a sensible young woman, trying to make her way after leaving home. Resettling in another town and working as an apprentice to a seamstress, she's content with her life. But then she hears stories from others about the beasts in the woods, and soon enough, she'll come face to face with these beasts.

Oh my... I knew what I was getting into when I started this book, but I was still surprised when it all happened! Although I wished this book was a little longer, I was still very happy to return to this series and this universe. Although, now I want more from these fiercer beasts! I do hope LV Lane will continue to give us more. Definitely recommended if you've been reading this series.

Quick enjoyable read! This is the 13th installment in the Coveted Prey Series and I thought it was really good! It was a quick read which I have been enjoying much more of lately. I also love the human x wolves relationships the most. It's spicy but it also has a decent plot line for the size of it. Our FMC Evanthe wasn't overtly obnoxious, I liked her sweeter nature and wooooof when the Wolves found what they wanted, they were claiming her. I did like the idea that they couldn't claim her without permission from Alpha! I thought this was a great addition to the series and I'm excited to see what else L.V. Lane cooks up.

Part of the Coveted Prey series, Claimed by Wolves is Evanthe’s succulent short. A young woman who moves to a new town, one protected by wolves. Fleeing to the woods as an escape from an attack on the town, there she is sniffed out by a wolf. Seems she has been marked. The triad: Ranulf, Alden, and Beric, have all realized they scented their mate. Now to convince the Alpha! All about making sure everything is done for her comfort makes all her mates sweet, but they are extremely protective as well. A lot of story with spice in a little package!.

What I loved most was the world L.V. Lane built—immersive, dark, and richly imagined. The restrained wording, reminiscent of classic Harlequin romances, allows the tension and atmosphere to do the work rather than relying on excess. The result is a compelling paranormal romance driven by mood, power, and anticipation.

A strong recommendation for readers who appreciate world-building, controlled prose, and dark romance with an old-school edge.

For those of you who read the series before, you know LV Lane delivers on the spice for these books and for those who haven't read previous books in the series, let me just tell you if you were wanting a quick read that is just packed with spice Claimed by the Wolves is it. Evanthe doesn't have much time to get ready….Ranulf, Alden, and Beric make up a Wolf Triad. These wolves know who they want and they are more than ready to claim her.

Like I said this book is quick and leaves me ready to read more of this series!

This was a fun and very hot addition to the series and I loved it ;P Evanthe has moved to a new town and is apprenticing as a seamstress. She's content but hears the warnings about the wolves. When the alarms ring, she ends up getting saved from raiders by a wolf and thus begins her new journey... Expect to feel the heat as she finds her way with the triad of wolves that come for her. Ranulf, Alden and Beric are more than ready to claim their mate but I love that she got to claim them, too. So fun and so spicy!

I enjoyed this story. Evanthe was cute. It was very short, coming in at about 100 pages so it went quickly. I enjoyed being able to read this enjoyable book so quickly. I liked the relationship between the pack and the village. Some things that happened made sense to me, knowing how humans tend to react to things we don't understand lol. The spicy scenes were definitely steamy. Having read all the books in the coveted prey series, I felt this was a nice addition. I had an appreciation for the works overall. Look forward to more stories in this series.

I wanted more!!!

I would have loved just a little bit more, but honestly, I still devoured this in one sitting. It was really good and really hot 🔥. I actually started with the last book in the series, which says a lot about how captivating the story was, now I’m definitely going back to the Coveted Prey series to pick and choose what to read next. The writing was solid, the pacing worked perfectly for a binge read, and the story completely pulled me in. Overall, a fun, steamy, and addictive read.

I am not going to leave a rating. This is the 4th book by this author that I have tried (and disliked), so I’m going to go with a, “it’s not you, it’s me” here.

I just can’t get into her writing style. Maybe it’s because of the ‘old English’ style (“…and she awoke thus”), or how all the MMC’s refer to “bratty” FMC’s (although not in this book) or the threatening of spankings (which gets old to me real quick). Or the barely-there world building (it’s less than 100 pages though, so I do get that). Or how meek many of the FMC’s are. But sadly, I just can’t get into it 🤷‍♀️

DNF'd @61%

This was not for me. While she did seem to enjoy it to an extent, the initial claiming/knotting sex scene felt a little too close to 🍇 for me. It didn't feel like they looked at her with any kind of reverence; there was zero build-up and zero chemistry. It felt more like she was reduced to a prize and breeding vessel. And claiming her in their were form and knotting without omega anatomy...? And apparently their members were so large they shove them into her so deep she screams and they breach directly into her uterus? Nope.

Fate or not

Evanthe lives a singular lifestyle on her own away from her family. She hears of a story about a “wolf tithe” and becomes curious. Her employer tells her to not worry and that that it is just a story. Well…come to find out it would soon greatly change her life. Ranulf and his two packmates will do anything to make Evanthe their mate, but first they must show their leader they are worthy. Read this book to see how fate deems their actions.

I relatively quick read (I read it over a Sunday afternoon between chores around the house). It's part of the Coveted Prey series, but can easily be read as a standalone. While I'm generally not a big fan of dubcon, it worked in the context of the story here. I will definitely be reading more books from this author in the future.

This novella was an ARC and my review is honest - as well as my opinion.

Overall, I'm a fan of L.V. Lane and the books that they write. I could definitely see Evanthe's story being a full sized novel, because the taste that reader's are given in this novella feels like an amazing little appetizer of a story. The pace is quick, the spice is spicing, and the main characters have their own little ~originalities that made the whole thing a very enjoyable experience.

A Fast Paced Shifter Read

I enjoyed this quick, smutty read by L.V. Lane.

Evanthe is a young woman living in a small town that comes under attack. Coming to the rescue are Ranulf, Alden, and Beric, three wolf shifters. There’s always a price for their services eventually and Evanthe ends up being that payment.

Fast-paced and steamy, this story left me eager to see what comes next from this author.

Evanthe moved to Merrywood to find work and to ease the burden on her family of an extra mouth to feed. She hears whispers about the wolves that protect the town but with stipulations. When raiders attack she meets the wolves that will claim her as their mate. But Ranulf, Alden and Beric must complete a quest before they can come for her.
This was a quick action packed story that was quite an enjoyable read.

It was a different type of shifter romance

This was a good addition to the Coveted Prey series. It is not your typical shifter story. It is a novella, mainly erotica with a shifter backstory. It reads like it was part of another story, and this is sort of the epilogue of what happened with some other characters that may have been in a previous story that I didn’t read. Romance is kind of a misnomer, but if it were longer, it would have ultimately qualified as a romance.

Omg, I can always count on L.V. Lane to get me out of a reading slump!
I just love how the writing style fit so well with the story, it really brings me into the book.
As this was a short story it was obviously fast paced and very much insta-love BUT THAT’S OKAY. Sometimes that’s just what we need, right? It just kept me wanting more and more.
Can’t wait to read more from L.V. Lane!
