My whispers summoned them. Our screams made them stay.
***
One month married, and Jolene's world is torn in half by dragons. Dragons she summoned. On one side of the fiery rift, the Vertlean army - and her new husband. On her side, only ruin and vulnerability. Now, something even deadlier than dragons has sensed this. And it's coming. With the city's last defence trapped across the divide, she must face the fire she unleashed before it's too late. Haunted by guilt and driven by love, Jolene embarks upon a path fraught with secrets, blood, and magic.

She never wanted this, but actions have consequences. Atonement has a price. And this time, it might be the man she loves.

Review of advance copy received from Author

I Received an advanced copy from the author for my honest thoughts and opinions.

4.5🌟 I enjoyed this book and I rate based on vibes, I do not see grammatical errors or plot holes while I read.

The overall plot was interesting, Jolene our main character has for some reason summoned dragons, in doing so has caused a massive rift in the valley. She is caught on one side while her husband is on the other with the soldiers and knights. The story follows her journey across the rift to find her husband. There was a few plot twists in this that I didn't see coming and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The fmc did annoy me slightly to begin with, as her guilt cascaded her only thought was she needed her husband to fix it! she grew on me and the character development was well done. I disliked her husband from the start. It also has some memorable side characters.
The world building is minimal as it was mainly set in a small area, what world building there was well done. Giving medieval vibes with castles, Kings and Knights.

I would recommend this book and will be picking up a shelf trophy once its released.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is… fine. It has a good cast of characters, some twists, and an ending that feels like it’s meant to be a cliffhanger, but that just had me annoyed. This is a book that’s meant to be the start of a series based on how it reads.

If I’m low on books and #2 comes my way, I’d read it. I would not seek it out (aka, no book hangover here).
