She’s my son’s ex. But I don’t care who she was to him. Because now she’s mine.
I pull her from the snow with shaking hands. Keep her warm. Feed her. Try to ignore the way she looks at me—like I’m safety. Like I’m hers.
She doesn’t ask me to stay. Doesn’t beg. She just survives beside me like we were always meant to do it together.
And when the roads clear and the town starts whispering? I do the one thing she never expects— I stop hiding.
No more careful distance. No more managing optics. No more almost.
I kneel in front of the whole damn town and put a ring on her finger. Let them talk. She’s not the scandal. She’s the truth.
She didn’t ask for a hero. She got me anyway.
Read on for age gap obsession, snowed-in heat, town gossip fallout, and a silverfox who gives up everything—except the woman he almost lost. HEA Guaranteed!
Oh my gosh, I wanted to like this book so much. I was iffy about it going in because one of the authors co-writes with Tyla Walker and I’m typically let down by those books, but I had high hopes for this one. There were grammatical errors incorrect timelines. It just threw me off. There were too many words that were unnecessary to the story and I believe most of their conversations happened off book because how did he know the details of the break up. I didn’t read her telling him about it so how did he know? I feel like the town people’s assumption of what happened with them in the mountains was overdone maybe forced is better a word. Their assumptions and reactions to that part of it was just too forced. And why did she get up and make him leave after they made love the first time at her apartment. He didn’t pull away from her, I was confused. He also referred to his son as his brother at the beginning of the story. This book just seemed all over the place to me and I skipped through a lot of it just to get to the end.
Where do I start, this was about a trifling woman. How do you go from sleeping with the father after having slept with his son for 2 years. This story really portrayed her as a loose woman with no moral compass. The father was probably vulnerable being alone up in his Cabinet. When a young temptation comes on to him, he did what most men would do. However, the way the story ended was unusual. Now she's the ex soon to be stepmother. What a joke 😃

Loved the concept and the story was good my issue was with the storytelling. It felt like I was back in school studying English literature! I skipped section, not as entertaining as I like my reading to be.
