It was a one-time thing, that night with Dane Badd. Or, at least, that was the idea. Brain-melting, earth-shaking, life-changing sex. The kind of sex you dream about for weeks and months after. The kind of sex that ruins you for anyone else.
And guess what this trauma-riddled dumpster-fire of a woman did during said sex to ruin it entirely? I had the mother of all panic attacks…my specialty.
He didn’t deserve it; he didn’t deserve any of my crazy….which is a lot. Sure, I have my reasons, and good ones, but it’s not the kind of thing you can just explain to people.
No, it’s better this way—he’s better off without me.
Which is why I left.
I wish I could be what he wants, but I can’t. I’m not. I don’t think I ever can be.
Dane Badd, however, has other ideas.
* * *
Lindsey Snelling. She’s gorgeous, wickedly funny, and bitingly sarcastic—if you know anything about the Badd family, you know we love us some sarcasm. But beneath the snarky sarcasm, witty banter, inappropriate humor, and show-stopping curves, she’s shut down and closed off. She’s got walls a hundred miles high and a hundred miles thick. Nothing—no one—gets in or out.
That night, though? The one night we shared? Yeah, the sex was beyond incredible...until she flipped out on me for no reason I can figure out. A hysterical meltdown of epic proportions…and I couldn’t do a damn thing about it. I couldn’t help. She wouldn’t talk to me beyond screaming at me to leave; it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I left.
I just can’t stay away. I try. God, I try. Weeks pass. She attends Duncan and Rune’s wedding and flips out on me again later that night. This time, she leaves, and no one knows where she went.
I have to find her.
I love her.
I’ll do anything it takes to earn her trust, to be the safe place she needs.

This is a very, emotional and could be difficult for some to read story. When two people who are pretty much the same and just get each other have an explosive one night stand. Both confused by it, one tries to understand it and the other runs from it. Then they meet face to face again when attending their best friend's wedding. Let's just say their relationship really opens up Pandora's box.
As a fan of this series, I was eagerly awaiting this release, and it did not disappoint! I will say, if you are a sensitive reader, do your research.
Dane Badd has grown up in the shadow of his focused and determined siblings, and is working on finding his purpose. Hooking up with his brother's wife's best friend should have been just that - a hookup, but he found himself interested and invested in Lindsey instead. Poor guy, he has no idea why she's ghosted him.
Lindsey is doing her best to function and survive in LA. It's not easy with everything running around in her head. With Raquel and Rune moving forward in their lives and marriages, she finds it tougher than ever to stay positive, as the panic attacks from her childhood trauma are plaguing her at ever turn. Lindsey and Dane have undeniable chemistry, and their steamy connection was enjoyable, but the emotional journey these two travel on to get to their HEA is deeply heartbreaking and heartwarming, and the best part of this read.
I really enjoyed being back in this world, and enjoying all the banter and connections between all the characters that have lived rent free in my heart for years. The entire Badd series is best enjoyed in order, so that all the layers in this storyline resonate. Dru and Bast are just so caring and understanding parents, as are all his cousins and family - and I loved that for Dane.
I'm feeling a series re-read binge coming on, as I am not ready to leave Ketchikan yet!
This book is a emotional journey. Lindsey Snelling has had a traumatic history. She had a one night stand with Dane Badd. Which, by the way, ended with a bang. Let me clarify my last statement. That would be the bang of the bathroom door as she bellowed (perhaps more of a blood curdling scream) to get out!!! Even with all that craziness, Dane couldn't get her out of his head. He tried contacting her, but she blocked him. Now Dane is a bonified bachelor. So when he attends his brother, Damian's wedding, he can't believe he's going through with it. Now, he absolutely loves his new sister to be. She's great for Damian. But, nah, he's not having it. Then he spots Lindsey. She is absolutely gorgeous. His body is reacting to her in a way he doesn't want it to. Especially at his brother's wedding. Maybe he'll talk to her and see what he did wrong. Or after the glare she just gave him from across the room, that's probably not an option either. What the hell? He was a gentleman. Right? This series has everything you could ever want. Humor, bantering, crazy, but love filled family dynamics, steam, romance, drama and trauma. I've read this series a couple times and each time it gets better. I'm not sure that's possible seeing that the first time, I recognized it at a rating of 10+ stars. Even though Amazon and other sites only allow 5. If you're new to Jasinda, please start at the beginning of the series. You'll be lost if you don't. Plus, it's a sweeter reading experience. If you are into truly emotional stories, read her two book series, The Cabin. If you can keep a dry eye reading that..... you're a robot. Sorry, someone had to tell it to you straight. Okay, enough rambling. Grab it, snuggle up in your favorite reading nook. Grab a glass a wine (Maybe do a half carafe. You won't want to stop reading to get a refill). Okay, so happy reading. Once you start reading her books, you'll be googling or as I do...Kindle-ing for more.
