Killer Secret

Rate this book
Bree’s latest podcast was supposed to be her boldest experiment in-depth interviews with convicted serial killers. She’s prepared for manipulation, and twisted minds. What she isn’t prepared for is him.

Behind the bars of a maximum-security prison sits a man whose calm strength unnerves her… and whose story refuses to line up with the crimes he’s accused of. The more Bree interviews him, the more the inconsistencies show—evidence that doesn’t work, timelines that don’t align, secrets hidden in plain sight. And then she he isn’t a monster. He’s a man framed by one.

Following that instinct is the moment everything changes.

When Bree starts investigating, doors slam, witnesses vanish, and the threat from the real killer begins to tighten around her. Someone out there knows she’s getting too close, and they’re willing to do anything to keep their secrets buried.

With the truth closing in, Bree must expose the killer, or let an innocent man stay locked up.

When lies, obsessions, and fatal secrets are involved… who’ll get the last word?

Okay, I might be a little biased because Elisa is one of my closest friends in this wild book world… but even if she wasn’t, she’d still be a five-star author every single time. She knows how to entertain, how to hook you, and how to put you right inside the story alongside her characters.

This installment was the perfect addition to the Bree Turner series. The twists? Incredible. The answers we’ve been waiting for? So satisfying. And the tension throughout the entire book had me flying through the pages.

Bree’s newest podcast dives into her most dangerous subject yet—interviewing convicted serial killers. She expects manipulation and mind games… but she doesn’t expect to meet a man whose story doesn’t add up. As the inconsistencies start stacking up, Bree realizes something terrifying: he might not be the monster everyone thinks he is.

Once she starts digging, everything spirals. Doors close. Witnesses disappear. And someone out there is watching—determined to keep the truth buried.

This book delivers suspense, emotional stakes, and that addictive “just one more chapter” feeling. The twists kept me guessing, and the way everything comes together is phenomenal.

If you love fast-paced thrillers, investigative podcasts, wrongful conviction angles, and high-stakes danger, this series is a must-read.

Bree Turner just keeps getting better and better. If you haven't started this series yet you need to!

In the 3rd installment of the Bree Turner series, our favorite podcaster decides to interview a convicted serial killer that is locked up in a maximum security prison. During her interviews she thinks things don't add up and that he may in fact be innocent. Follow Bree on her investigation and see what situations she gets herself into.... because you know she will.

I was up reading well into the night because I had to figure out what the heck was really going on. Elisa crafted this book so well that like Bree, I was not sure what to believe.

Killer Secret

~Elisa D. Daniels

“Hey there, listeners. You’re tuned into Minds of a Serial Killer. I’m your host, Bree Turner. Tonight’s episode is not for the faint of heart.” ~Bree Turner

Our favorite podcast host, Bree Turner, is back to wrap up the Killer trilogy with a well-deserved mic drop. Killer Secret by Elisa D. Daniels is the closing broadcast in this series you can't pause, it will echo long past the ending credits. We aren't just experiencing true-crime fiction during her podcasts. It's like being live in the podcast room with Bree, sipping coffee one moment and choking the next when the twist hits.

Bree Turner is back, and as you come to expect, deep in the middle of another killer set of conflicts.

William Cotton, The Duct Tape Killer, former renown attorney, and current resident at Darkwood Correctional Facility. Cotton has been accused, and convicted, of murdering twenty-three women. His niece, Patricia, along with himself, maintain claims of innocence. Patricia has reached out to Bree for help – she wants Bree to investigate and prove his innocence.

At the same time. Bree is living her own horror story. She's dealing with stalking, obsession, threats, and secrets that she prefers stay buried. Packages show up with tapes leaving vague clues as to who could possibly be behind them.

It's up to Bree to uncover the truth behind William Cotton's case, and the person attempting to disrupt her life. The question is, will this be her FINAL podcast?

Daniels continues to showcase her skill with character craftsmanship in Killer Secret. Bree's toughness and vulnerability land perfectly. Killer Secret finally gives readers the resolution we've wanted – the full backstory of why she left California, and how deep her scars truly run. Supporting cast add layers of texture and tension, each bringing a sharp and unpredictable side to the story. With Daniels, we don't get background characters. She builds full-blooded people who breathe, fight, and haunt you long after you finish reading. Bree might be the voice behind the podcast, but everyone in the story demands to be heard.

The pacing is steady and suspense building that leaves you waiting for the next shoe to drop – and it does drop, several times. Every transition feels smooth, yet loaded with tension. The atmosphere crackles. You can “hear" the static of Bree's mic. Feel the paranoia drip through conversations. Sense the weight of secrets pressing against fragile truths. And then when the twists hit, they are clean and unforgiving. Every reveal lands with intent. By the end, you are left with that eerie silence only a good finale can leave behind.

Killer Secret is the mic drop Bree Turner, and readers, deserve. It isn't a door-busting, bomb-dropping chaotic mess. It closes softly, firmly, leaving you satisfied.

I would like to thank Elisa D. Daniels for allowing me to Alpha/Beta/ARC for Killer Secret. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the author or publisher for a fair and honest review.

Wow what a conclusion to this series! I absolutely love Bree! She’s a fierce to be reckoned with. I love how Elisa wrote such a great series that made us fall in love with her characters, esp Bree and Buster.

It was fun to follow Bree through her podcasting journey and all the danger and twists and turns she went through. Even with flaws of her own, she uses the knowledge she learned and used that to help solve cold cases and free innocent people. This book was no different and I am so happy that she is FINALLY getting her Happily Ever After!

This book kept me on my toes and I literally cld not stop reading it. Bree gets a phone call that sets her on a mission to help free an innocent man, who was in prison for being a serial killer, only it’s not as cut and dry as one might think. She meets Jernigan who was the defending lawyer for her client and also her clients best friend, but lines blur and boundaries get crossed, and Bree is on a time crunch to figure out who is actually the serial killer, is it truly Cotton-the man who is in prison for the murders, or cld is be Jernigan, and perhaps someone else? You have to read to find out! Although you cld read this as a stand alone, I wld suggest you start with book 1 in the series so you get the full effect of Bree and the struggles she’s faced through the series.

Book 3 in the Bree Turner Series.

Bree's newest Podcast takes her deep into a maximum security Prison to interview a man who has been named 'The Duct Tape Killer' by the Media. The evidence against this man however, isn't stacking up for Bree, and she starts to wonder if he's been set up. Key witnesses are dying, and someone is sending her creepy af tapes.....

Is the real killer behind bars and an exceptional actor, or is he roaming free???

Loved, loved, LOVED this 3rd installment. I think it's my favourite! Bree Turner is such a bad a$$. She's consumed by this case and leaves no stone unturned to search for evidence - despite being threatened and stalked. Someone also knows something from her past - something she'd prefer to stay buried...👀

Thanks Elisa, the way you built up the character's had me questioning them all!!! The twists were epic, and the pacing was spot-on as usual. Woke up this morning at 3.40am, and yes, I just had to finish it 😂. Bree and Buster are just my absolute favs 🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have loved this entire series, but Killer Secret might be my favorite.

From the first prison interview, I was hooked. There’s something so unsettling about a man sitting calmly behind bars while you start to realize… he might not belong there. The way the inconsistencies unfold had me completely locked in.

And once Bree starts digging? It’s game over. The pacing ramps up, the danger closes in, and suddenly I’m reading way past my bedtime because there was no way I was stopping.

This is how you end a thriller series—high stakes, emotional payoff, and twists that keep you guessing. Elisa Daniels absolutely delivered.

I continue to enjoy the character Bree Turner. A good, intelligent female protagonist is rare in the thriller genre. This is the third book in the series and just as entertaining and thrilling as the others. In this story, she is investigating a possibly wrongfully convicted serial killer. I stayed up until three am to finish this novel because who needs sleep when we must know where Bree’s podcast and interviews lead. There were some well-placed and shocking twists. This is an author to look out for, as she continues to deliver. Five stars.

Ahh this was so good, just as the rest of Elisa’s books! What am I going to do with my life without Bree turner?

I thought I had it all figured out. I did not, in fact, have it figured out. I should know better by now. I’m lacking sleep because I had to finish this. I had to find out what happened with Bree and though I’m sad to see the series end, I’m happy with the way it left off.

Not only is Elisa an amazing author, but she also always has the best covers!!

A fast-paced thriller with a deceptive cast of characters. A handsome but handsy lawyer, a shifty PI, an imprisoned serial killer proclaiming his innocence, secret notes, mysterious hand delivered cassette tapes and questionable evidence gives Bree a case that has her questioning everything and everyone. This could make her career, but... she also has a stalker. Someone knows knows her secret and they want Bree to pay. You won't know who is who and what is what by the end. Twisty & Dark!

Killer Secret hooks you right away and slowly builds tension through secrets, suspicion, and layered characters you’re never quite sure you can trust. Except for Buster. He's the most trustworthy character, and one of my faves.

The ending had me going back and forth on who the killer was so many times it gave me whiplash. I rarely have that experience with a book. Loved it.

This is a solid psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the end. Great third book to the series.

I highly recommend this series, and all of the author's other books.

I loved this conclusion to this trilogy. This was definitely one I almost read in ONE SITTING. However, life happened and stopped me from doing so.

Elisa is a mastermind at making you second guess every dang character, keeping your eyes peeled (literally) to the pages having the obsession to find out what will happen next.

Absolutely loved this whole series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Enjoyed this book! I was looking forward to seeing what Bree Turner was up to this time. I was hooked from chapter 1 trying to figure this one out. Each time I guessed, I was wrong! Although I hated the way it ended, I definitely think it has potential for another book!! 😍😍

“Killer Secret” by Elisa D. Daniels absolutely lived up to the hype! As the third book in the Bree Turner series, it raises the stakes in all the best ways. From the very first chapter, the pace is relentless, fast, sharp, and packed with suspense.
The tension never lets up, and just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist sent me reeling. Bree Turner is going to give me a heart attack one of these days with the risks she takes and the situations she dives headfirst into! I was completely on edge, turning pages late into the night because there was no way I could put it down.
If you love thrillers that are high stakes, twisty, and keep you glued to the edge of your seat, Killer Secret delivers.
