Dress & Gender: Dress, Gender, Transgender, and Crossdressing (1)

Rate this book
The first in a five volume set, this book reestablishes dress as a foundational context for crossdressing. This major study demonstrates the interplay between sex, gender, and clothes, especially as these relate to transgender behaviors, of which crossdressing is the best-known.

The author is really trying to cover the phenomenon of crossdressing in a very comprehensive way, and succeeds admirably. The footnotes are excellent and quite helpful. The coverage of the subject includes many disciplines, and seems quite thorough. This book has helped me better understand the subject, and has expanded my ideas around, clothing, gender, and many other topics. I look forward to the next volume.
