When Desperation Meets A Knotty Holiday Omegaverse Romance
What can turn a strait-laced omega into a ho ho ho under the mistletoe? Pure desperation.
When I checked my bank account to prepare for Christmas frivolity, the last thing I expected to see was a negative balance. With nowhere else to turn, I have no choice but to throw myself at the mercy of the Willoughby Rut Clinic and hope they’ll take me in.
The clinic has only two Submit to the customer to satisfy all their carnal needs, and don’t catch feelings.
I want to be strong. I want to resist my customer’s animalistic allure. Most of all, I want to deny the deviant feelings he pulls out of me.
But ’tis the season to be knotty… and some rules were made to be broken.

Vivian is a sassy romance writer that likes to brat just as much as she writes. As a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants author, she's usually working furiously into the night when her creative juices hit her the hardest. Her books like to take you to the dark side and force you to dip your toes in, but don't drown you. She loves writing alphaholes, anti-heroes, and heroes you just love to hate. She likes to try out everything she's putting her heroines through, so the phrase “for science” is used in her house a lot! When she's not writing, you can probably find her playing Animal Crossing or tormenting her cats and Husdom.
This was a fun smutty little Christmas novella that hit the spot 😌.
Noelle is down on her luck, and providing for her teenage brother after her parents have passed. Things have not been easy either emotionally or financially for our for girl 🥺. Meeting Jason at the bank in the middle of a meltdown, and then later matched with him at the rut clinic after being driven to desperation for funds sets these two up for their eventual hea 💗.

Hahaha! I loved this! Christmas might be over, but this was the perfect novella to bring in the new year. I laughed probably more than I should. But I loved Noelle’s solution to a negative bank account. This woman proved you gotta do what you gotta do. Especially when you’re responsible for someone else. This novella was such a fun read. It was a total naughty delight.
Holiday Rut is a charmer of a story. It’s a bit of a Cinderella tale, as the aptly named heroine Noelle is fresh out of money and fresh out of means to give her little brother a wonderful Christmas. I loved that her “handsome prince” Jason is a bank manager who couldn’t help her out of her overdraft fees (!) but who manages to be her perfect alpha partner at a rut clinic that Noelle turns to in desperation.
I loved how Noelle worked so much to please others at her own expense and how Jason couldn’t stand that. Jason ended up being the ideal protector for a woman who needed someone to look out for her for once—particularly when Noelle makes a potentially dangerous choice at the rut clinic.
This is a short yet marvelously sweet novella. Sweet isn’t a word I often associate with Murdoch, who skews darker in most of her books. But this one was an utter delight I devoured in one sitting. I’d love to see Murdoch write more books like this!
I’ve read quite a few Omegaverse novels, but this is the first one I’ve read that is set in a world so much like our own, complete with cell phones, ATMs, and bank overdraft charges. I found the combination of the two different world types, one realistic, and the other fantastical, to be entrancing. I loved Jason and Noelle - they were so right for each other. Even though this is a novella, and therefore short and fast moving, I found myself so caught up in their romance that I was impatient to get to the HEA, and wanted to hurry them up to get past their misunderstandings and find true love. Luckily, they did get there. And with plenty of spice on the way, as one would expect from Vivian Murdoch.

This book was rutter perfection…I loved this book from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. The storyline was original and page-turning and was filled with drama, angst and spice. Vivian Murdoch is the queen when it comes to writing this trope and pulls me in with each book she puts out in this genre. The characters were well written, had an instant and undeniable chemistry that burned the pages during the special times!!! I can’t wait to see what comes next in the rutverse!!!.

An omega who just wants to afford Christmas for her little brother and finds herself signing up to work at the Willoughby Rut Clinic to put money into her woefully overdraft bank account. Meeting the bank manager did not help, but Noelle was someone he just couldn’t get out of his mind. Right time, right place for them to be - to draw them close together for a “greater purpose,” something Jason could not deny was meant to be, despite his caution. This was a fast-paced and entertaining dive into this author’s omegaverse world!
I knew this was short so I wasnt sure how fun it would be. Our gal is living rough, the guardian of her young brother after her parents die, she is struggling to take care of them. When she realizes shes overdrafted her account before Christmas all she can do is sell her body to the alphas. She comes across the banker dom who caught her eye at the bank. It goes up and down from here. Its a good story with very low drama or complications. Its pretty much straight forward with basic characters and storyline with smut. Its exactly what i expected but it was a fun story!.
What happens when your parents die and leave Noelle and her younger brother with debt? You do something you never thought you would. Noelle is broke, not just borke but will never get out of debt broke. She has to find some way of making money. So she goes to a rut clinic to offer her services. Boy-O-Boy does she get it right.

Pretty cute and smutty holiday read. Noelle is an omega down bad and struggling hard to protect and provide for her younger brother. Jason is an alpha dom she meets at the bank when she finds out she's in the red with the holidays around the corner.
this is a really quick simple smutfest with low angst and a decent amount of heat. there's not much romance and Noelle doesn't have much personality aside from being poor, but it gets the job done when you want something spicy and simple.
For me foremost a love story of an omega looking for someone who cares for her and loves her and an alpha who puts work first and is lonely. Noelle and Jason are a perfect match, they fall instantly in love and we read about their explicit smutty road to their happy ending.

This was a very quick spicy read! If you are a fan of instant attraction/obsession, this is for you. Definitely recommend if you are looking for something that is very Spice heavy.
3.5 Stars This was a fun read, with my favorite type of omegaverse (with detailed nesting and knotting.) It was short, but had enough detail to feel like a complete story. But because of its length, I did feel like things went a bit too fast, and minor things were left out. But an okay read, with great omegaversing.
