He’s her arrogant neighbour, her sworn enemy… and the one man she can’t get away from.
Archie Wilcott is my egotistical, insufferable neighbor—and I hate him. He has zero concept of hygiene, thinks he’s royalty just because he can kick a football, and has far too many abs for one human being. What? It’s not like I can avoid them—he practically lives half-naked in our residence’s gym and pool. See why I’ll never give up my building? Luckily, I’m escaping for a while. The hospital finally granted me enough days off for a humanitarian mission in Africa. Helping people is my jam, and it’s exactly what I need after yet another breakup I should have seen coming. Bonus: it’s 6,400 kilometers from London—and from my infuriating neighbor. Or so I thought. Because the moment I set foot in the camp I’ll be calling home for the next few weeks, I’m greeted by a football—straight from the feet of my enemy. What is Mr. Selfish doing in a rusty Ugandan camp? And more importantly, why can’t I seem to escape him… no matter how far I run?
Glove to Hate You is a feel-good sports romance with spark—perfect for readers who love banter, sparks, and a hero who falls hard. It’s the first book in the London Regents FC series, where tension is high on and off the pitch—and love is always part of the game. All the books are interconnected standalones and can be read in any order.
Perfect for fans of: -Enemies to Lovers -Slow burn tension -Sports romance (Football/Soccer) -He Falls First -Neighbors
Marion De Ré is a closed-door romantic comedy author. She lives in the French countryside with her husband and adorable cat. You can expect all your beloved tropes in her writing as well as a good dose of humor and all the feels. When she's not reading or writing, you can find her on a plane to a far-away destination.
I needed a fun rom-com to read and this one definitely fit the bill!!! I devoured it! My phone was reading my digital book to me while I was on a long drive yesterday. I had one of my older daughters with me and we were both laughing out loud soooo much while enjoying the book! She hadn't read a book by this author before. I kept saying things about the different characters that are in the book who already have their own stories. And she started making a list of the books so she could read them. She loved it so much! And it made me happy to share an author's book with someone I love and that they enjoyed it just as much or more than I did!
I've been looking forward to Kat and Archie's story after finishing a previous book by this author!!! *Cue Squealing* Seriously I had a lot of excited anticipation for it! And it didn't disappoint! Especially the first several scenes where they are seeing each other for the reader to see. Oh! My! Word!!! Hahaha! Their rivalry runs deep! And it gets even better when Kat (poor thing) gets a soccer ball, or I guess I should say a foot ball, straight to the face from none other than her arch nemesis, Archie (the guy felt genuinely sorry)! But it sure had my daughter and I giggling over the whole scenario...it was an accident!
All of the situations leading up to them calling a silent truce and them realizing that they might have been a bit wrong about the other and that a friendship between them was inevitable, just added such a great depth to the story! And not only were there plenty of humorous moments, but these two have some great heart to heart moments as well that really endeared me to them even more so. The chemistry between them is wonderful! You'll be cheering for them the whole way through!
Content: Clean. Some talk of health issues. Some kisses but nothing further.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
This is part of the London Regents FC series but can be read as a standalone. This story also has characters crossover from Tackle My Heart (part of the Love Playbook Series) and Icebound Reunion (a holiday novella related to the New York Raptors series). You won't feel like you've missed anything if you read this as a standalone, however, you'll probably find yourself wanting to read these other books because Marion De Ré does an amazing job weaving a story!
This is a fun neighbors, enemies to lovers romcom. I was sucked in from the start and found myself unable to put it down and finished it in a day. I loved how Kat and Archie had a "love to hate you" relationship that was really just them not taking the time to actually get to know each other. However, they soon find themselves in close proximity while on a humanitarian mission and soon start to see each other for who they really are. A friendship starts to form and of course feelings start to be had.
I love how Marion is able to create characters that you instantly fall in love with. I loved the banter between Archie and Kat and how really they truly are opposites, but they work together.
This book does discuss some serious topics such as infidelity, cancer, and childhood trauma, but it is all handled with care.
I'm so excited for the rest of the series as we will soon get Finn and Cameron's story.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Quotes: "Life has a funny way of bringing the right people to you at the right time."
"...it's about showing up. Again and again. Choosing to try. To connect. To be open, even when it's terrifying."
"And that's what real love is, isn't it? Not just butterflies and romance, but this quiet, steady choice to be there for one another. Every day."
"If I caught a fish like him, I'd throw out every other line and guard that pond with a taser."
Glove to hate you is a closed door, enemies to lovers, neighbours, sports romance about Kat, a trauma surgeon, and Archie, a famous football player (or soccer player if you’re American). Kat thinks Archie is egotistical and insufferable just like Archie sees Kat as stuck up and irritating. In the beginning I really did agree with the characters view of each other but after the universe throws them together all the way over in Uganda on a humanitarian mission, they start to see other sides of each other. As the book progressed the characters really evolve and change which I really enjoyed. Throuout the story, the characters are thrust together time and time again and it starts to look like fate is really a thing!
This was a very cliché but also a very funny book that would be perfect for someone who loves a book full of all our favourite tropes! I, for example, loved it! It was a short, easy read that was really fast paced and, just like all of Marion De Ré´s books that I’ve read, very enjoyable. The characters were funny and relatable and I have nothing bad to say about the side characters. I especially enjoyed Gilly even if she has her bad sides. Hahahah! You will see if you read it!😏The book also had text threads which is something I really enjoy in books.
The book do discuss some serious topics such as infidelity and childhood trauma and if this is not something you are comfortable with, this might not be the book for you. I would, however, recommend it to anyone who loves a caring MMC who also falls first for the FMC who gives of black cat energy! I rate this book 4/5⭐️ and while I haven’t read the others in the series so far, I think I will after reading this one!
Glove to Hate You by Marion De Ré is a sports romance that will appeal to fans of enemies-to-lovers and slow-burn tension. I went into this expecting a lighter read, and that’s exactly what it delivered.
The story is told in dual POV from Archie and Kat, which I always enjoy as it gives insight into both characters’ thoughts and emotions. Their dynamic had a nice build, and I could definitely feel the tension between them. I also appreciated Kat’s hesitation when it comes to relationships, which added a layer to her character.
The writing style is easy to follow, making it a smooth and accessible read. It’s the kind of book you can pick up when you want something lighter or in between heavier reads.
That said, for me personally, the story could have gone deeper. I sometimes missed background information and more development, both for the main characters and the side characters. Because of that, the enemies-to-lovers aspect didn’t fully land for me. I didn’t always understand why the tension between them was as strong as it was meant to be.
There are some humorous moments throughout the book, which I enjoyed : '''if i caught a fish like him, i'd throw out every other line and guard that pond with a taser.''. Though I felt there could have been more of that. The sports element is present but stays more in the background rather than driving the story.
Overall, this is a light and enjoyable sports romance that kept me interested. Perfect as an in-between read if you’re looking for something easy and not too intense.
Glove to Hate You was such a fun surprise and exactly the kind of romcom that reminds me why I love enemies to lovers so much.
From the first chapter, Archie and his ridiculous half dressed neighbor behavior had me laughing. He is arrogant, annoying, way too aware of his own charm, and somehow still impossible not to like. The kind of male lead who gets under your skin and then slowly wins you over.
And our heroine? I loved her. She is smart, independent, over his nonsense, and fully committed to disliking him. Which of course made every interaction between them even better.
The banter in this book was top tier. It had that sharp, playful back and forth where you know two people are driving each other crazy because the chemistry is already there. Every little argument felt like foreplay.
What really made this stand out for me was the setting shift. I did not expect the humanitarian mission in Uganda to become such a meaningful part of the story, but it gave both characters room to grow outside their usual environment. Seeing them stripped of the comfort of home and forced to actually know each other added depth I wasn’t expecting.
Even though this is closed door, the tension absolutely delivers. You do not need explicit scenes when the emotional buildup and chemistry are this strong.
And Archie falling first? Elite behavior.
This was charming, funny, swoony, and full of heart. If you love enemies to lovers with banter, sports romance energy, and a hero who never stood a chance, pick this one up.
Oh, this was so much fun! Glove to Hate You is the first book in Marion De Re’s London Regents. I was so excited for this book especially when I saw how it connected to some of De Re’s other books! Archie is finally getting his book and boy was it fun! Archie and Kat did not get along and were constantly getting on each other’s nerves. It was definitely funny to read about their different perspectives. But as the book went on, they began to see that there was more to the other person. It was sweet to read about them falling in love and growing. They had found a partner who understood them. It was also a good reminder that there is often more to people than meets the eye. They were forced together when they went on a humanitarian trip but life kept on putting them together. Their interactions were a lot of fun especially when they started falling for each other. Archie fell hard and fast while Kat was more hesitant. I loved their easy connection and how they really cared for each other. But they had to overcome Kat’s fears and fight for their relationship. This book was so good and I ended up finishing it so quickly! I loved Archie’s team and I am so excited for the other guys to get their own book. It was also fun to see cameos from other books. I would totally recommend this book! Glove to Hate You is a closed door romantic comedy
Book Highlights: Footballer Humanitarian trip Found family Team as family Forced proximity Doctor FMC Enemies to lovers Easy banter
This one felt like a perfect, light, easy read. Definitely a solid palate cleanser if you’re coming off something heavier and just want to coast for a bit! I loved the banter between Archie and his friends, especially through their texts. It added such a fun, modern dynamic. With that said, this one was so, so close for me. Like, painfully close. There were a few plotlines that felt like they could’ve been trimmed back to let the core story really shine. The Uganda storyline in particular had so much freaking potential! I would’ve happily lived there for the entire book. Instead, there were quite a few bigger plot elements layered in, and it made things feel a little harder to fully buy into. The enemies-to-lovers trope also didn’t quite hit the way I wanted it to. I needed a little more depth on the “why” behind the tension. Give me the backstory, the receipts, the timeline…. like, I need to truly invest in this 😂 I just didn’t fully understand the weight of their dislike. And because of that, the shift from enemies to lovers felt very quick…like we blinked and suddenly we’re in love, and I was still trying to catch up. Overall, this was an enjoyable, easy read with some really fun moments, even if it didn’t completely land for me. I can definitely see it working for readers who love a lighter romance with witty banter and a fast-moving plot!
Once again, Marion De Ré has delivered a super cute romcom that had me both laughing out loud and swooning all throughout. From the moment we met Archie and Kat, I loved their dynamic. They may have been neighbors, but their feelings towards one another were anything but neighborly. They had all that banter and tension you expect from enemies to love... and honestly, you truly felt the annoyance between them. But when they find themselves on the same humanitarian mission in Uganda, they start to see a different side of each other... and oh, the chemistry! Archie is such a fun character, I loved his goofiness... and Kat was a great balance to him. It was a sweet romance that I couldn't help but enjoy. I also loved seeing more from the Regents (who we've met in some of Marion's previous books). Their text threads had me smiling and I find myself looking forward to getting to know them all better in this series. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.
Glove to Hate You is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Set in London, Kat and Archie are neighbors who can’t stand each other. When they both end up volunteering on a trip to Uganda, they start to learn more about each other and finding more than friendship. As fate keeps throwing them together, will they give in to their feelings? Or will the past overshadow their future?
This was a fun read! There are deeper topics here, so please check the content warnings. I always enjoy her romances and loved seeing some familiar faces. The sports elements were great as well. I can’t wait to read more in this series!
This romance features: 💜 hate to love 💜 trauma surgeon FMC x football (soccer) goalie MMC 💜 black cat x golden retriever 💜 complicated family 💜 interconnected stand alone 💜 forced proximity

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this eARC!
This is such a sweet story!! A bit of a sports romance, a bit of an enemies to lovers, some forced proximity.... and of course a happily ever after ending! 🤩
The book is a closed door romance, very clean.
Archie is so great with kids.... and an all around nice guy... he's great with her Mom (which is a big deal) & even in a pinch helping with a surgery in Uganda!!
Kat... feels like she has to push him away (for multiple reasons that I can't share to avoid spoilers)....
The book is full of LOL moments, slow burn, tension, witty banter & more...
*sports romance *she's a doctor, he's a football (soccer) player *they both volunteer in Uganda *forced proximity *enemies to lovers *he falls first
This is Book 1 in the London Regents FC series. I look forward to reading the rest!
TW: there is mention of infertility & cancer in a parent
Thank you to the author (Marion De Re), publisher (Victory Editing) & Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
“”You make each other better. And that’s what real love is, isn’t it? Not just butterflies and romance, but this quiet, steady choice to be there for one another. Every day.”” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A sweet, sports romance ⚽️! Ever have an annoying neighbor? Then this is the story for you about Archie & Kat! Both characters go on a mission trip to Uganda (loved this part and wanted more)…both end up at the same wedding…coincidence? Fate? Bad luck? How they perceive each other begins to change and the chemistry between them becomes more apparent. Can they get along or do they go their separate ways? Closed door…enemies to lovers…neighbors…infertility…soccer…doctor…skin cancer…“Better than dying of skin cancer,” (my father actually did die from skin cancer so please don’t take sunblock lightly!) Thank you Marion De Re for the complimentary ARC. Review is based on my thoughts and opinions. Release Date: May 15, 2026
Thank you to Marion for my complimentary copy of Glove to Hate You. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Glove to Hate You was an absolute delight to read. It was the perfect palate cleanser after an intense mystery. I must confess, I think Marion has given us her best couple to date!
Archie and Kate have the perfect enemies-to-lovers chemistry. The slow burn and tension between them is just perfect. I do wish there had been of their time in Uganda, but as it is a sports romance I understand why it's a short (but very important) part of their story.
Glove to Hate You has all of the charm, swoon and banter between characters we've come to expect from Marion's books. It was a delight to see Archie and Kate progress from enemies to lovers.
Catching up with old characters is always fun, and I see the potential for upcoming characters to have their own books.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Archie!! I've been patiently waiting for him book ever since we met him Icebound Reunion (his brothers book) and he's the teammate of Callum (Tackle my Heart). Could not put this one down and read in one sitting because I just NEEDED to find out when they were going to find out how they should have know each other ages ago... with Katherine being Grace's best friend, and Grace marrying Archies brother! but instead of officially meeting, the universe kept throwing them together, a hilarious set of coincidences and it didn't take them long to go from being annoyed with each other to falling fast. Fabulous start to a brand new series from Marion, can't wait to read more from this group of teammates.
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
This was such a fun read! We have Archie who is a goalie for a professional football team and Kat who is a trauma surgeon. Both neighbours who despise each other, until by random chance (or perhaps fate) they end up on the same mission in Uganda and learn maybe there is more to the other than they realised.
A quick and easy to read enemies to lovers sports romance that I had a great time reading (although it’s hard to believe the couple getting married never put two and two together about who the MCs were to each other!)
I really enjoyed the side characters, especially Archie’s teammates and the partners and I’m looking forward to reading more about them as the series grows!
Thank you so much Netgalley and Victory Editing for the opportunity to read this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Really cute book with a twist at the end that made it a little more interesting.
I love sports tropes, as well as enemy to lovers, but sometimes they are too predictable. This one threw some things in there that kept my interest piqued.
I also felt like we generally got to know the characters well enough. The book is written from both POVs, and I appreciated that for this one.
There are other books within this group of characters, and I plan to read them.
I think there was room for a little more comedy/humor to be injected.
Thank you to Marion De Re, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for review. I was excited that my request for this book was grated because Marion de Ré is a new author for me. I loved this cute, clean sports romance between a professional soccer player and a surgeon, who live in the same London apartment building. I liked how they were able to learn about each other over time to discover that they were both wrong in their initial assumptions about the other. Their connection seemed genuine and I loved how they both fit in to each other's family and friends Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
⚽️ You will find all the fun, sass and good feels in this book! Archie & Kat are a perfect pairing - a relationship that begins with some attitude but manages to fall into place as they find each other in the same places over again & again. Some might call it fate - the Universe at work. Some need more scientific evidence. Either way, their developing relationship will have you smiling and experiencing all the emotions. You are going to love book 2 of the London of Regents FC series!
. . . . . . . . . . . . ✨While part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone✨
Kat and Archie are so good together in this enemies to lovers book. Kat, a trauma surgeon, puts up with her neighbor, Archie, a professional footballer. He's loud, obnoxious, rude, and she avoids him at all costs. Then they end up at the same service trip to Uganda and are the best man and maid of honor at the same wedding after returning. What an awesome premise. This book was so well written, I couldn't put it down. The clearly developed characters are like best friends. All in all a great read.
"Glove to Hate You" by Marion De Ré is part of the "London Regents FC" series. The books in the series are interconnected standalones and can be read in any order.
I received an eARC from the author. Opinions from this review are completely my own.
What you can expect:
⦁ football player/doctor ⦁ slow burn tension ⦁ neighbours ⦁ closed door / kisses only ⦁ he falls first ⦁ dual POV
Archie and Kat are neighbours and cannot stand each other. But the univers keeps getting them in the same place at the same time. They end up in the same humanitarian mission in Africa and while working together, they manage to actually get to know each other better.
The relationship between them develops so nice and they have a lot of chemistry. The initial banter was so good and there are also a lot of funny moment.
Even if it is overall a funny, sweet book, it is important to specify that there are also mentions of infertility and cancer.
I like that characters from other books appear in this one and that there is a great group of friends.
This was such a fun enemies to lovers, closed door, romance! Archie and Kat’s story was so good and I loved the humanitarian mission trip to Uganda that they went on and all the things that happened while they were there. Some of which made for laugh out loud moments. Their banter and chemistry was perfect. This was such an easy, fast paced read with some swoony moments. Overall, I really enjoyed it!
This book will publish on May 15, 2026. Thank you to the author for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
Another fantastic book by Marion De Ré. I love when characters are intertwined between books/series. Archie is Noah’s brother (from Icebound Reunion in the New York Raptors series) and Katherine is Grace’s best friend (Noah’s love interest). Their banter was fantastic and I enjoyed watching Katherine slowly warm up to Archie’s sunshine. Though the 3rd act breakup was annoying, at least I knew they would get back together in the end. I’m looking forward to Finn’s story next.
I really have not found a Marion De Re book I'm not a fan of. This one is pretty high up for me on the top ranking ones too. An enemies-to-lovers story with a hidden complication that arises. It was a quick and engaging read that was just what I needed to relax and feel good. Thank you to the author for the ARC.
Two people with opposite perspectives are brought together on a humanitarian trip and unexpectedly grow close. As they spend more time together, Archie falls quickly while Kat is more cautious, but their strong connection helps them overcome fears and build a meaningful relationship.
I loved this story! I loved the build up, the middle and the ending. I haven't read many soccer stories so this one was fun to read. Archie and Kat were just perfect for each other. And I loved how Kat finally realized it. The perfect happy ending!
A delightful romance, fun and heartfelt, with seriously adorable characters. I loved Kat and Archie, their dynamic made me smile many times. The ending is absolute romance perfection.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
I have read everything that Marion has written. She is such a wonderful author, her words seem to flow magically, so well written. I love a group chat, the one in this story does not disappoint 😍
This was the perfect soccer romance where he fell first! I loved the banter between the main characters, and I thought everything about this book was amazing!
