Howl you Been?: A Steamy Shifter Rom Com

Rate this book
She rescued a stray. He’s anything but tame. Paige Daniels prefers dogs to people. Dogs don’t ghost you, judge your life choices, or care about unshaved legs. So when she finds a massive, injured husky mix in the woods during a storm, she does the logical thing. She loads him into her van, patches him up, and puts him in her ex’s hideous yellow bumblebee sweater.

Big mistake.

Because her stray isn’t a dog at all. He’s Travis Reese, an Alpha wolf shifter with enemies closing in, and a growl that rattles her bones. And he remember everything she said when she assumed he was just a big, fuzzy dog.

Now he’s holed up in her tiny apartment, eating all her food, insisting he’s her protector, and looking at her like she’s already his mate. Paige doesn’t need a broody Alpha claiming her…

But her heart (and her traitorous knees) might disagree.

This novella length story is perfect for fans funny fated mates, sunshine/grump chaos, and heroes who would absolutely wear a ridiculous sweater for their girl.

I just really don't think a romance can be done very well as a novella. Call me a skeptic but, regardless of a fated mates element to a paranormal romance, there needs to be something more than fate to make the relationship. I wanted to like these characters. I wanted to like the story. I wanted to think it was comedic. But everything felt just a little unfinished or not polished enough.

I loved the reveal of Travis being a shifter. I thought that it was funny enough. But there was so much focus on the silly that the jokes just felt like they weren't really landing. We kept going back to the fact that Paige hadn't shaved her legs in months, or she had dressed a wolf in a highlighter yellow bumblebee sweater, or she gave the giant wolf that is also a man a bath. It just didn't work for me. Maybe the problem lies with the fact that rom-coms are so hit or miss when it comes to my tastes, but this felt too rushed, unfinished, and unformed.

Such a fun, cute, short read! Just a snippet of a shifter story. Cute banter, some suspense, and a little spice between fated mates!
