Cole Stone has spent ten years holding his family's Montana ranch together with barbed wire and stubbornness. He doesn't need a partner. He doesn't need help. And he definitely doesn't need the sharp-tongued city woman who just inherited half of everything he's bled to protect.
Maya Al-Jamil didn't come to Stone Creek to fall for a grumpy cowboy with more pride than common sense. She came to sell her share and get back to Chicago. But a clause in the will changes everything: six months of co-habitation, or they both lose the land.
Forced under the same roof, they clash over everything—spreadsheets versus sweat, tradition versus innovation, silence versus the truth neither wants to speak. She thinks he's drowning. He thinks she's a distraction he can't afford.
Then the bank calls the note. The impossible math demands a sacrifice. And Maya makes a choice that will either save the ranch or destroy whatever is building between them.
"I love you more than I hate tourists."
When the dust settles, Cole will have to decide what he's really fighting for: a legacy of stone and silence, or the woman who taught him that some walls are meant to fall.
Book 1 of the Stone Creek Legacy. Each book follows a different Stone brother and can be read as a standalone.
An easy to read, know what you are getting, kind of book that was just a bit cliché and rushed. I actually think the author has a beautiful way of expression and the descriptions of feelings and environment are lovely it's just that the story has zero development or yearning etc it is like the whole middle section of it is missing. In fact the whole meeting of the characters to the eventual falling in love happens in less than a week, which even for this genre is short. It reads like a short story competition entry- I won't be reading the others in the series.
This was a fairly good short read. I don’t know if you could call it much of a romance. There was one kiss prior to them, declaring their undying love for each other. It really didn’t have a whole lot of substance. A book doesn’t have to have sex on every other page but come on hop out a bit of interaction if they are going to fall in love.
I really enjoy reading books that belong in a series. You get to know the characters from different points of view as you read each successive book. This series is especially refreshing for me because there are not a bunch of detailed sexy scenes, but you get to use your imagination instead. I just finished book 7 and cannot wait to continue on to book 8! Thank you June Wilder for creating such a pleasant reading experience!
I thought that Stone was too driven. It was to the point of being mean and cruel. The entire book was consumed with him and his feelings. There was not even a single sex scene. The author could have used this to give him some human feeling. Then at the end we have a happy ever after? Not believable.
What an awesome read. It jumped right into the heart of the story. Excellent characters that played delightfully off each other. Loved the story line and the subtle love story.
This story is wonderful. I absolutely loved the progression of the "Mr. Grumpy" millimeter by millimeter. Miss Sparkle & Sunshine slowly digging her way into his heart. Uncle knew what he was doing!
I just finished book 7. Each book has touched me in some way. I’ve cried. I’ve laughed. I’ve rejoiced. I love the characters and I’ve cheered for them as they faced their challenges. I’m downloading book 8 now.
This fast reading novella was really well written. The characters were strong. I liked that the story stayed true to the personalities of the hero and heroine all the way through. Would be interested in reading the other books in the series.
The descriptive writing is fantastic. High quality. But I was missing some sex, any sex. This was a chaste read otherwise I would have given 5/5. Regardless I’ll try the second book. Maybe the spice improves.
I really enjoyed reading about Cole and Maya and all they went through together. Love the happy ending. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
A good book about a stubborn man.A woman cows into his life trying to help him.He don’t want help asks her to leave. You have to read to see what happens Thanks to author
The kind if a cowboy story that heals the heart, warms the body with feelings of absolute certainty about people. Even if the past is dark and we don't see the horizon, eventually it will pop up from somewhere unexpected.
This story spells out the struggles of a rancher and a woman who inherits half his ranch. Long drawn out struggles got a little boring for me but the story as a whole was a good concept.
