I savored these vignettes that Brother Darryl shares as part memoir, part imaginary characters, sometimes those we know and those we don’t. I have known Darryl for almost 40 years and have sat with him and “Binky” many a day, enjoying his gift of story. This volume contains some I am familiar with and others that must have been lurking deep in his psyche… He is a compassionate, thoughtful, and intelligent friend who knows how to read a room and understands people just from keen observation, a great criteria for a writer. He is also a gifted photographer who shares his viewpoints through the lens in a very creative way (I am lucky to have many of his pictures)! I really enjoyed his pieces on his family, especially his mama; southern culture is apparent in his raising and I believe his affection for his mother shines through well in his reflections. I, like his English teacher who saved his early stories, am glad to see them finally published! 🥰
