He goes by the book. I make it up as I go. Together, we’re a disaster waiting to happen.
Since my divorce, I’ve been rebuilding my life one two-by-four at a time—only to have it torn apart one code violation at a time by a handsome but infuriating building inspector.
When Finn schedules a plumbing inspection on the morning of the winter storm of the century, I’m convinced he’s lost his mind. He’s usually punctual to the second, but this time he’s late, a sure sign the California boy is out of his element.
Sure enough, he slides into a ditch, and I become his unlikely rescuer. Suddenly we’re snowed in together in my ramshackle, soon-to-be-demolished farmhouse that violates every building code known to man.
If either of us hopes to survive the next few days, Inspector Finn will have to learn to live with my sagging foundation, broody teenager, and potbelly pig. Otherwise, this snowy little Christmas could be a complete disaster.
Well… it might be either way.
Nothing says holiday cheer like a blizzard, a romantic rescue, an unstable farmhouse, and a slow-burn attraction that refuses to follow the rules.

Book review: Erin Lucy’s A Snowy Little Christmas is the kind of holiday romance that sneaks up on you wearing fuzzy socks, holding hot cocoa, and absolutely judging your life choices with affection and sarcasm. This book is independently published, and huge thanks to Erin Lucy for the gifted ARC that turned my sensible December reading plans into a full-on snowed-in binge.
I went into this story expecting something cute and festive, maybe a little Hallmarky, and I got that… but I also got emotional depth, laugh-out-loud moments, and characters that felt annoyingly real. Juliet is a divorced mom rebuilding her life one questionable decision at a time, and Finn is a painfully punctual building inspector who believes rules exist for a reason. Naturally, they clash. Repeatedly. Often. With sarcasm. And when a blizzard of the century traps them together in Juliet’s wildly non-code-compliant farmhouse, things go from awkward to chaotic to unexpectedly tender.
Let’s talk about that house for a moment. The farmhouse is practically a character itself. It’s drafty, falling apart, and full of personality, much like Juliet. Add in farm animals that clearly missed the memo about behaving, a potbelly pig with opinions, and a teenage son who sees everything, and you have the kind of cozy disaster setup I eat up with a spoon. The humor here genuinely works. I laughed out loud more than once, not polite chuckles, actual laughter that startled my cat.
What really sold this book for me was the emotional balance. This is a Christmas romance, yes, but it doesn’t ignore the weight its characters are carrying. Both Juliet and Finn are dealing with loss and change, and the story allows them space to heal without dragging the reader through unnecessary angst. The romance is a slow burn, but in the best way. It simmers. It teases. It makes you wait, and that patience pays off.
The dual POV deserves special praise. Juliet and Finn don’t sound like the same person with different names. Their inner monologues are distinct, sometimes hilariously so, and it adds so much depth to the story. Finn’s rule-following mindset crashing into Juliet’s make-it-work chaos was endlessly entertaining and surprisingly heartfelt.
“I guess love, like old houses, doesn’t need to be perfect to be worth saving.”
By the time I finished, I was genuinely sad to leave these characters behind. That’s always my personal benchmark for a successful romance. This book felt warm, comforting, and honest, with just enough sarcasm to keep it from tipping into sugary territory. No unnecessary drama, no cheap twists, just people figuring things out while snow piles up outside and feelings pile up inside.
If you’re looking for a cozy Christmas romance with forced proximity, found family vibes, gentle healing, and humor that actually lands, A Snowy Little Christmas deserves a spot on your holiday TBR. It’s sweet, slightly messy, and full of heart, much like the farmhouse at the center of it all.
I absolutely loved this book. I was in exactly the right mood when I read it. A bit Hallmarky, but in the best way, and I mean, what else do we expect from a Christmas romance novel? This is dual POV and by that I mean it's ACTUALLY two separate povs/personalities/perspectives on the world. Too many dual-POV books are just the same narrative voice, but the reader is told it's two people and we accept it bc, why not. This one really felt almost like it was written by two different people, which at times was hilarious (in the best way). I was so sad when it ended! Not bc the ending wasn't lovely (it was), but bc I wanted to keep reading about the couple and watching their relationship grow. The Christmas setting was lovely in a kind of grungey way. I thought the farm/old house vibes were on point. No suffering child or dying pets on this one. Characters were healing from loss. No spice.
I will also add that this was my second book by this author. I did not love the first one I read, but I really loved this one. So do try to give an author more than one chance!
I'm going to say this once read the trigger warnings on this book! erin lays this out perfectly. this holiday read is about so many things. life after death of a spouse moving on from the death and moving on with a teenager. trope definitely is grumpy guy meets farmer girl. he's her home inspector that makes her life crazy. she's trying to build a house via YouTube vids. one snowy day the storm apocalypse hits standing him she races in her tractor to save him. this book is filled with quirky farm animals, pet skunk and three loners. mom son and home inspector. I'm gonna say it here but my personal thoughts are the home inspector is on the spectrum. it's never implied but sure as sheetrock his quirks define a person on the spectrum. mom and son love the farm animals and that made this a better read. this is a clean romance with only kissing. so understand that one. but it's a magical read for the holidays.
I love all things Erin Lucy, and this does not disappoint; this is part of The Snowhere to go Romance series. Juliet believes in her grandparents 150 year old farmhouse . While trying to renovate the house Juliet has failed one inspection after another. Finn Shepard is the Inspector, he follows the rules to a tee, rules exist for a reason; and he does not fraternize with the homeowners . He is coming for her plumbing inspection, with a winter storm (Storm Dillon) coming. He drives off in the snow, and into a ditch, Juliet rescues him! He needs to adjust to a pet potbelly pig, a pet skunk, and other animals living in the house. How do they survive the blizzard of the century together? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Erin Lucy!!!
Erin Lucy's Snowhere to Go series has been great so far, and A Snowy Little Christmas is a FABULOUS addition...
Juliet and Finn don't really like each other, but it's funny how being snowed in by one of the worst storms in YEARS can change perspectives, and open minds and hearts, and lead to new adventures and emotions. And that's exactly what happens for Juliet and Finn during Storm Dillon...
This is a really sweet story. It does have some potential triggers, so please check content warnings, but it is beautifully written. Both Juliet and Finn's emotions are so well portrayed for the reader, and it really sucks you into their world.
I received a free copy of this book from Erin Lucy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This romance novel truly tugs at your heartstrings. I absolutely adored it. Juliet and Finn initially don’t see eye to eye, but it’s amusing how being trapped together during one of the worst storms in years can shift their viewpoints, open their minds and hearts, and lead to unexpected adventures and emotions. That’s precisely what unfolds for them during Storm Dillon. The romance unfolds at a slow burn, but in the most rewarding way. It simmers, it teases, and it keeps you waiting, with that patience ultimately rewarding you. I felt a wave of sadness when I finished the book, as I became thoroughly invested in the lives of Juliet, Garret, and Finn. I highly recommend this book!
Cute holiday read with both MCs finding solace in each other as they heal from their own trauma. I like that the MCs were older and kept Garret’s feelings (Juliette’s teenage son) in mind. I did feel that it was slow in parts and I couldn’t get past the very opposite people Juliette and Finn seemed to be. I’d be grossed out by someone preparing me food without washing their hands first regardless of working with animals or pulling things out of a dirty dusty attic.
✅ My thoughts: A Snowy Little Christmas was a cute, corny, and quirky Christmas read. I was laughing out loud so many times! Goats+pig+skunk=chaos Juliet+Finn=chaos Throw in Juliet’s teenage son Garret and you get even more chaos!
❄️Divorced mom ❄️Widow ❄️teenager ❄️Snowed in ❄️Forced proximity
I was so sad when I finished the book. I was totally invested in Juliet, Garret and Finn. You need to add A Snowy Little Christmas to your tbr list….a very sweet Christmas romance.
Since her divorce, Juliet has been attempting to rebuild her life both literally and figuratively, but the handsome building inspector, Finn, keeps getting in her way...
When Finn schedules a plumbing inspection the morning of a huge snow storm, Juliet winds up rescuing him.
Juliet and Finn are now stuck together with her surly teenage son and pet pig in a farmhouse that's one violation away from being condemned...
Will this holiday season be a disaster?
I thought this sweet and festive story was very entertaining and fun. It's perfeft for the holiday season!
this was such a sweet Christmas romance! Finn and Juliet both had things to heal from but making sure they put Garrett, Juliets son, came first! so much healing had to happen all around!!
