Rhea’s magic is eating her alive.

In a split second, she’s forced to abandon her corporate accounting life when she’s suddenly dropped into an unfamiliar world. This new world is one full of wild magic, mysterious cults… and a tyrant king hell-bent on making Rhea’s magic his own.

Between the elves, fairies, and demons, Rhea feels out of place most everywhere she turns. Though she manages to make new friends, her magic even puts them in danger, and she quickly learns that studying magic isn’t as simple as she thought. Rhea must travel the western continent to find a mentor, someone who is willing to take on the risk of a volatile novice mage. And someone who isn’t afraid of King Stefan.

But when the pressure of her magic becomes too much as King Stefan hunts her down, Rhea has to Will she let her magic consume her, or learn to wield it like the great mages of the past to protect her chosen family?

People from our world get dumped, literally, in mid air above the water and fall into a world with magic, elves, fairies, and demons. The ones you expect to be the bad guys are good guys at times. It's my favorite, a book with a female lead, Rhea. Without giving to much away, she has an inherent ability for magic but needs to get schooled quick or, "OH NO!" There's a tight knit group of friends that takes her in, a search for someone to teach her, and an evil King who wants to use her. I'll quit there, you could find all that out from the blurb on the back of the book.
This is a new favorite writer of mine. I hope there's more books from her, I'm waiting. Her characterization is good, each character seems like a fully fledged self and keeps being themselves and reacting like themselves throughout the book. The text flows easily. You come up for air and are surprised to see a chunk of the book just got consumed. The magic system is fully thought out, original, consistent, and fun. Just read it. You can't go wrong.
