LOVE ME, DESTROY ME: THE BREAKING POINT

Rate this book
Some love hits different… and that’s what makes it dangerous.

Kyrie doesn’t see himself as toxic… but he is. Possessive. Manipulative. Reckless.
He breaks Liana down just to pull her back in again… and call it love.
And she always comes back.

But she’s no victim.
She plays tough… slick mouth, flipping his games right back.
Acts like her love got limits… but her heart?
He always finds the cracks.

Since they were young, they’ve been trapped in a cycle–
Pushin’. Pullin’. Explosions and apologies.
Walking away just to fall right back in.
They know it ain’t healthy… but what if they don’t want healthy?

Because this runs deeper than heartbreak.

It’s grief.
It’s buried secrets.
It’s guilt that don’t let go.
It’s generational wounds that never got a voice.

What starts as passion turns into survival…
and love built on trauma never stays steady.

Set across the streets of Los Angeles,
LOVE ME, DESTROY THE BREAKING POINT follows two souls bound by pain…
fighting to hold on even as everything around them starts to crack.

Because sometimes the person you’d die for…
is the one destroying you.

And sometimes love doesn’t save you…
it just shows you what still needs to heal. Some love hits different… and that’s what makes it dangerous.

Where do I even begin?! Kyrie had me LIVID the entire book. LIVID! Crazy part is I could understand his thinking 1000%, his being stuck in a cycle. He knew better but just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do better. And Liana? Oooh I felt for my girl. But I also wanted to slap some damn sense into her.

Let me tell you. This book might piss you clean the hell off but it is worth the damn ride. It is messy. It’s real. Your face gon heat, your toes gon clench, you gon feel that pressure behind your eyes. Damn, it’s like watching a train wreck happen in slow motion. Will they get it together or will they not?

5/5 from me. Pulled me right into the story and wouldn’t let my ass go. 👏🏾

Got this book as an ARC read….

This isn’t a love story built on soft beginnings and gentle choices.
This is the kind of love that forms in the wreckage—when two broken souls cling to each other because letting go feels more dangerous than staying.

Love Me, Destroy Me dives deep into the psychology of attachment born from pain. The connection between them isn’t healthy… but it’s real, intoxicating, and terrifying in the way only trauma bonds can be. His love feels like manipulation, protection and possession all at once. Her heart knows the red flags—but her soul is already chained to the way he makes her feel.

Every page hums with tension:
• love that hurts
• comfort that cages
• passion that feels like survival

This book doesn’t ask should they be together—it asks what happens when love becomes the coping mechanism? When his touch feels like safety and destruction in the same breath. When walking away means facing the pain alone.

Raw. Consuming. Emotionally suffocating.
This story will sit heavy on your chest because it understands that sometimes love isn’t about healing—it’s about enduring each other through the damage.

The connection between them is intense, addictive, and deeply unhealthy—rooted in control, obsession, and wounds that never healed. He doesn’t just love her… he claims her. She doesn’t just stay… she’s entangled. Every touch feels like comfort and punishment all at once. Every promise sounds like salvation but lands like a threat.

This book explores the dark side of desire—the way trauma can disguise itself as loyalty, the way love can become a cage when fear replaces trust. It’s raw. It’s messy. It’s emotionally exhausting in the best (and worst) way.

First, thank you to K. Ni’Kolé for the ARC.

LOVE ME, DESTROY ME: THE BREAKING POINT by K. Ni’Kolé is heavy in a way that demands you brace yourself before turning the first page.

Truly, before diving in, read the trigger and content warnings. This is not a light read, not escapism, and definitely not a romance meant to make you swoon. This is an urban psychological romance. What it is … is a look at two deeply wounded, unhealed people trying to love each other while actively destroying themselves in the process.

Liana and Kyrie are the definition of toxic and codependent. Just two people trapped in a cycle presented as love but rooted in addiction. Kyrie is a poison in human form, manipulative and consuming. Written in third-person POV, the story feels like watching a slow-motion car crash… you see every red flag, and you desperately want to intervene… but you can’t. Love is blinding, and fairytales don’t live in these pages.

And let me say … Saige? I couldn’t be her. Ain’t no way you’re using my brother, dragging him into your chaos, and we’re still cool. Absolutely not. Boundaries!? where??

I’m locked in… and definitely waiting to see how this unravels in part two.

I honestly had no idea what to expect going into this book. If I’m being real, I first saw the author talking about it on TikTok and the MMC’s face and those eyes had me intrigued. So like any responsible book girlie would do, I slid into her DMs like, “Harpo… who dat man?” 😂 And the rest is history.

But baby… these two were going THROUGH it.

Do you know how many times I yelled at this book? How many times I almost threw my e-reader across the room? The only thing that saved it was the fact that I read on my iPad and that thing is expensive, so absolutely not.

Their relationship was so toxic it could melt metal. And yet, I couldn’t look away.

You could tell she was really trying. She was loyal almost to her own detriment. And him? He was aware of his behavior, but like a lot of young people, he just didn’t know how to express his emotions in a healthy way. That lack of emotional maturity showed up in the way he loved her, the way he reacted, and the choices he made. Watching that dynamic play out was frustrating, intense, and interesting all at the same time.

And then that ending…

Baby that ending took me THROUGH it. I literally just sat there staring at the screen for a minute because I did not know what to do with myself.

All I know now is that I’m fully locked in. I will absolutely be waiting on Book 2 because there’s no way I’m walking away from this story now. 🔥📚

Looking for a messy & heavy read that will wreck you in the best way ? Then this is the book for you !

The pain, the manipulation, the heartbreak it’s RAW. I wanted to throw my kindle & quit reading this book ( in a good way) so many times. Each chapter gets heavy, the characters are unraveling right before your eyes. This toxic love is triggering while some parts are soft.

Can’t wait to see what comes next

This book took me through it. It was a lot. I didn't think I was going to make it.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book. It hit a lot of emotions in my life
It had me worrying about me not healed. I need to step back and examine my own life. I need to go back to therapy because some areas of my life need to be addressed.
I needed this book. I look forward to seeing what happens next

Love Me, Destroy Me pulled me in fast and didn’t let go. The emotions felt real, the chemistry was intense, and the story didn’t sugarcoat how complicated love can be. I loved how flawed and human the characters were. If you enjoy emotional romance snatches you by the neck and makes you fall in love with their story, this one is worth the read.

This book refuses to soften the edges, and that is exactly why it works. I loved to hate Kyrie. The way he moves through relationships feels painfully familiar, making choices that cross lines and leave damage behind. Some of what he does is honestly unforgivable, but the younger version of me who made the same kinds of mistakes completely understood why Liana stayed tangled in his mess.

What I appreciated most is that Liana is not written as a victim. She’s convinced she can hold her own, even when her emotions tell a different story. But, ooh, I wanted her to get away from him so bad! I also loved that she wasn’t isolated. Her brother and her best friend Sae were everything. Those voices of reason mattered, even when she wasn’t ready to fully hear them yet.

Fast paced, emotionally raw, and gripping from start to finish, this story grabs you by the throat and does not let go. And that ending? A jaw dropping cliffhanger that had me immediately clamoring for Book 2. Five stars, no question.

Love Me, Destroy Me is raw and unapologetically messy! The kind of story that doesn’t soothe, it scars. This isn’t a romance meant to have a fairytale ending; it’s meant for you to feel the weight of loving someone who makes you bleed.

Kyrie and Liana are fire and gasoline: toxic, obsessive, and painfully codependent. Kyrie loves in ways that bruise - controlling, manipulative, disrespectful; while Liana is sharp-tongued, naive, and fully aware of the damage… yet still tethered to the way he makes her feel.

What makes this story hit so hard is its honesty. The push-and-pull, the disrespect followed by apologies, the cycle they can’t break - it all feels uncomfortably real. Beneath the chaos are generational scars and trauma bonding that explain, without excusing, why this love keeps surviving when it shouldn’t.

If you’re drawn to dark, emotionally charged stories that explore the ugliest sides of love, Love Me, Destroy Me is for you.

Not gonna lie, this book depressed me. Beware of the triggers fr! The dynamic of the Kyrie & Liana reminded me a lot of my past so this was a hard read.

Emotional

This one wrecked me in the best and hardest way. Raw, heavy, and emotionally intense, it dives headfirst into a toxic, codependent dynamic that’s uncomfortable but intentional. Definitely check trigger warnings.

The writing pulled me straight into the characters’ heads, every emotion felt sharp and real. Not a light read, but incredibly powerful and thought provoking. A must for readers who love dark, emotionally challenging stories.
