This was pretty good for a 60 page book. Nice illustrations, and photographs. I did learn some great information on the Waffen SS as a fighting force. I understand that a 60 page book cannot give the reader an entire, detailed, and concise history of the SS in terms of warfare on the battlefield. It did give some good detail on the uniforms, the weapons, the tactics, the camaraderie and devotion the men of the Waffen SS had, so I will give it a plus in that regard. I would recommend this for someone who wants to learn more about the SS as a fighting force, but has very limited knowledge.

Waffen SS awalnya hanya kesatuan kelas dua dalam Angkatan Bersenjata Jerman pada 1940-1945. Persyaratan untuk masuk Waffen SS lebih menimalis ketimbang kesatuan yang lainnya. Sehingga, di awal peperangan Waffen SS hanya memiliki persenjataan yang terbilang seadanya. Namun dalam perkembangannya, Waffen SS lambat laun mendapat kepercayaan dari Adolf Hitler.

A rather paltry introduction to the subject, limited by its mere 60 pages. The author manages to cover adequatly the origins and early history of the organization, but then simply runs out of space. Later history, expansion and war performance are therefore covered in very spotty manner, with the goal of providing the broad picture rather than detailed description of the SS. The volume achieves this goal, but when judged critically, it manages only to scratch the surface of this very complex and multi-faceted aspect of Nazi Germany.
