“Don’t be sad, my beauty. I’ll not be so terrible to you.” The heroes of Lavintia need the mysterious demigod Xenoskar’s help, but his price is the submission of one of their most beautiful members. Will it be the sweet and compliant Rin-Timber, his defiant and unnaturally possessive older twin brother Taylen—or both of them?

*sees that it's free* *looks at the cover* ok i mean why not really *actually reads the book* i honestly don't know what i expected
there were i think 3 sex scenes and they were decent but the rest of it i was just like ??? i mean it's your standard weird m/m dom/sub fantasy demon world thing so like i said, i knew what i was getting into, i was just hoping it would be juuuust good enough to bump up to a 3 star, but honestly i'd rather just read fanfiction. also warning for mentions of parent/child incest and twincest [i mean, duh on the twincest, just from the description], although none of the explicit sex is incest [from what i remember].
Weird short Novella that I listened to on Audible. I got it super cheap from a sale so only spent like $2 on it and honestly, given that price, this was a fair buy.
This starts off with some weirdly amazing world building and the set up for what I feel like would have actually possibly been a cool novel. It isn't though. It's an erotica. So it quickly shifts all that coolness into a standard naughty erotica.
The Erotic stuff is super naughty, does exactly what you'd expect from a Erotic focused book, nothing too crazy although some stuff might be questionable but I'm not exactly judging too severely since it's basically just porn being porn haha.
Anyways, good for a quick fix of naughty. Nothing mind blowing or new and exciting. But it did the assignment as a weird, fun, fantasy erotica.
I was expecting something...different. I don't know. I just didn't really like it. I think part of it was having listened to the audible version. There were pronunciations that didn't sound right to me, the voice was...breathy, I'm not sure what to call it I just didn't enjoy it, there were a few times I wondered who was talking.
Still I think the story itself is very yaoi in style. It feels more feminine when it comes to the characters. This isn't an intense read. Still it can be a nice lighter read.
I'm not sure why I didn't like this one better than the rating reflects...except maybe the shifting PsOV were hard to keep track? I dunno. I mean, I think it was 'cesty - which should have had me dancing in glee - but I'm not...really...sure? Putting this on the re-read shelf to see if reading it will fare better.
Not really sure the BDSM in this was safe and consensual. In order for the people of Lavitina to win they need the hlp of a demigod, Xenoskar. His payment will be Rin-Timber. When he tells his master he no longer wants to be with him but with Rin, his master then takes Rin's brother. Short with a lot of sex.
I got this expecting porn with plot. what I got was mostly plot and it's much better for that. The author manages a subject that would normally send me running for the hills in a way that had me feeling sympathy for all the characters involved.
Avatars paired together defend in the name of Helder, which also includes a curse for them.
Xenoskar's domain held for his master Horreth, is interrupted by a battle with 3 pairs of Avatars. They take refuge in the courtyard. Xenoskar brings them in and takes one of the Avatars as payment. His God is not happy but in approaching the other member of the pair, he changes his views.
Both Horreth and the Avatars find happiness and Xenoskar's actions are forgiven.
It is a sweet story with Horreth and Xenoskar finding happiness which was missing from their former relationship.
The story has movement as it flows well with characters that surprise you. Of course there are some adult rated sex scenes but the heart of the story is very much there. The author always expresses her characters well and allows them to enhance the story rather then dominate it.
I like Yamila's books so far. This story was very good. I like how Xenoskar treated Rin-Timber with respect. I also liked how Horreth treated Taylen with respect. Horreth and Xenoskar had a similar relationship that Taylen and Rin-Timber had with each other. I hope there is more stories with these four characters in them. Erin
This was such an extraordinary and creative fantasy. Rin -Timber and Taylen are twins who fight together as avatars to protect their city or home from super huge ogres or whoever their enemies are at the time. Once I got into the story I found that the characterization was excellent, especially the animals that Xenoskar turned into partial humans so they could serve him. He even had a harpy or two who would fly him around, which was extremely awesome to me. I was happy that both twins had found love even when Taylen was consistently being defiant and feisty (he's been hurt in the past). The story was evenly paced and totally held my interest. I loved how the plot focused on two couples instead of one, making the story considerably more compelling. :)
