G.T. Karber grew up in a small town in Arkansas, the son of a judge and a civil rights attorney. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a degree in mathematics and English literature. Then, he moved to Los Angeles, where he received a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.
As the General Secretary of the Hollywood Mystery Society, a theater ensemble and cinematic social club, he has overseen the staging of more than 30 immersive whodunits in the LA area. His first feature film, Killer Party, a horror-comedy-musical-whodunit he co-wrote and directed, is currently in post-production with plans to premiere in festivals in 2023.
This is a really festive fun book, with a good level of challenge. the overall story arc holds the collection together in a silly but entertaining way. Also a good mix of variation to this style of puzzle to keep people engaged.
This was good fun. Started off pretty easy by my goodness the brain cells were fairly buzzing on one or two of the later puzzles. Thank goodness for pencil and rubber!
A nice brain cracker for the holliday season. I enjoyed the puzzles. The story in itself isn't great, but good enough to give the feeling of being a detective solving a crime and to get you going. It's a good present to pass on to the next detective.
Once again, I have been able to fully complete another awesome collection of murder mystery logic puzzles from G.T. Karber. This time, Karber's usual amalgamation of 'murder sudoku' features a festive twist of the Christmas season, with twenty five murders and mysteries culminating in resolving the strange disappearance of Santa Claus. Like the previous entries, this is brimming with clever puzzles, illustrations, secret codes and maps is perfect for any aspiring sleuth along the likes of Agatha's Christie's well-loved characters Poirot and Marple.
Very fun and addictive. It’s been my first Murdle book and it won’t be the last!
I think it’s a great introduction to the series, since the puzzles aren’t very hard but are still satisfying enough to keep you coming back for more.
One thing I didn’t like as much is the physical quality of the book itself: the paper is very thin, and the binding makes it difficult to keep it open.
If you’re curious, you can try the daily Murdle (or the mini Murdle as a tutorial) on the official website, murdle.com, before committing to the book.
At this point, I think that it's just a given that the MURDLE BOOKS are getting very short as the Christmas edition - MERRY MURDLE - has only 25 puzzles in it. However, there are five suspects each time, making the grids larger, which I appreciated. This took more consideration than the 3x3 or 4x4 in the other books.
As for the story, the idea of Santa being kidnapped and so trying to work out whodunnit before Christmas by eliminating murderers (why would a murderer kidnap Santa?) was a fun reversal on the usual format. The final section was a little annoying (so much flipping backward and forward and one told you it required googling!) but overall, it was fun (and could be done one a day if you wanted).
This was my first murdle and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Corny storyline, but decent logic puzzles. I LOVE logic puzzles. My husband got me another murdle for Christmas and I'm excited to get into that one. This made my math nerd brain happy.
not sure if this counts as a “read” book, but I’m counting it. such a fun an festive puzzle book that I think is supposed to be done as an advent calendar. I started it a little late and then fell behind around christmas, but really enjoyed all the puzzles.
Super cute, festive, and challenging! A quick holiday-themed puzzle book with surprisingly a lot of fun, extra goodies inside including Christmas cocktail recipes.
Excellent addition to the Murdle family. I tried to do one puzzle each day, like an advent calendar BUT I got too excited and solved it all a few days early. Great :) haven’t had this much Christmas fun since Diehard came out in cinemas.
This is my new favorite type of advent calendar! I loved doing a puzzle/day and kudos to the author for doing some narrative flow & fun elements throughout the book.
