Shadows Beneath the Snow by Ruby Valentina is the second book in the Snowfall Harbor Mystery series and a book I was waiting for eagerly after finishing the first book in this cozy mystery series. Maggie Dawson has lived her entire life in Snowfall Harbor listening to the whispers and gossip about her father, who may of may not have been involved in the disappearance of a young girl many years ago. It is a tough life, but things change when care free carpenter Jack comes rolling into town. And when Maggie finds a lost old letter, he helps her to find the truth of it all.
This book was again a joy to read. I had a really hard time putting the book down. The writing and mystery are mesmerizing. Maggie is a lovely character; I really felt for her. She tries to be silent and not noticed, but the town’s people’s whispers are getting to her. Jack is a wonderful person, he loves life, makes a joke out of everything, but steps in to protect Maggie. Their interactions are wonderful; they have a great chemistry and the banter between was just great.
The mystery concerning the disappearance of Lillian all those years ago makes that this book does not let you go. You want to read and read to find out the clues Maggie and Jack, together with former journalist Claire and sheriff Daniel from the first book, uncover, they are so well thought out.
The writing style is flowing, fast paced and the scenery/worldbuilding you could see before your eyes. You could even feel the cold, with all the snow. Snowfall Harbor is a cute little town, festive as it is Christmas time, but underneath it all there are all kinds of secrets. And someone is determined to let it all lie hidden.
Ruby Valentina has written a wonderful new series; with a great mystery readers will be dying to uncover. I enjoyed reading the book a lot and I cannot wait to read the final book in this series. I am so curious to find out how it all will end!
If you want to read a great cozy mystery series, you have to read this series. It has been a while since I was so engrossed in a mystery book.
This book was amazing! Once again we pick up the mystery of Lillian Hart, who disappeared in 1962. This time we follow Maggie and Jack as they trudge through the gossip and clues. Maggie impressed me. She lived her whole life with people gossiping about her and her family. She was the town pariah. She was so strong though. I can't imagine not having anyone in your corner your whole life and yet being so soft and kind with the town children. Jack was amazing! He tried to keep things light. He loved to banter with Maggie but he saw her for who she truly was. I LOVED how he saw her and wouldn't let her go through this mystery alone.Together with Claire and Daniel from book 1, these 4 uncover more to the mystery that could change their town forever. I absolutely can't wait for the next book to see how this mystery keeps unfolding!
With a cliffhanger in book 1 that leaves readers with more questions than answers, we now see Maggie’s side of the story. Growing up in a town where the Rowan name earned her more whispers and stares as gossip about her father and his involvement in Lillian Hart’s death spreads. Scared of what she will find, was he helping her or hurting her, she finds support from Jack who vows to stand by her no matter the outcome.
The discovery of Lillian’s journal reveals the answers may be closer than expected and possibly within their community. Can’t wait to see the final reveal.

Shadows Beneath the Snow book 2 is an Excellent story about Claire Whitmore who finds something at her Inn and Sheriff Daniel Pierce helps her to investigate the past. Maggie Rowan who owns an Antique Shop has a families past which is difficult. Jack Dawson comes back to the town and begins to gets to know Maggie and support her. But will what they find uncover the truth? Superb story and series that I enjoyed reading and I highly recommend that you read.
Ok first off, the blurb doesn’t match the story. There is no skeleton and this story follows Maggie and Jack. We are still waiting to discover what happened to Lillian. More secrets are discovered. Love the vibes between Maggie and Jack. Can’t wait for the next one. I received this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.
This book was out good. It had mystery and suspense. It really kept me engaged. I was really intrigued with the chest and the letter it contained. From there I wanted to know what that letter was about. But main characters were funny. Although the FMC kind of annoyed Mr with her negativity. Overall it wasn’t a bad book
The plot thickens in this Christmas mystery the secrets get deeper old love is reclining and new love in blooming and the suspense takes over this small town. Will they ever find out what happens to the missing girl? Who was following her? Who is following them? Where is her baby?
The mystery continues of the girl that disappeared 60 years ago. Maggie Rowan discovers a letter, then a key. Could these things help to clear her father’s name or implicate him further? Anxiously awaiting the next segment, hoping secrets will be revealed.
I am glad that these books give us answers as the first book leaves us on a cliffhanger. I feel that this story is more about Maggie and Jack, can't wait for the third book.
