She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

When I saw this cover, I knew it was going to be good! This book has all the spice and I loved it. A great story line with a little mystery. Caleb, our masked tattooed billionaire-ish contract killer and Scarletta, our soon-to-be evicted unpublished erotica writer. This book was a spicy, quick read with no cliffhanger. I’ll never look at a blue Bic pen the same again! I’m looking forward to Valentine’s Day now! Check the trigger warnings.

When an author who writes erotica 'gets' to experience it all in real life. She's a bit desperate for money, since she's been writing for fun and not for profit, and gets an eviction notice. When an offer she should, but can't, refuse falls into her lap. It's dark. It's crazy. It's scary. But it may be just the thing to get her living again. He is the exact kind of man she should be afraid of. He's done some bad things. Underneath it all though, he knows he's the man she needs, and he knows how to get her. While this is filled with sexual content, and intended for mature readers, a good chunk of the book is leading up to, and not the actual acts of. There is kind of a message in the story... don't be ashamed of what turns you on. There were some things that confused me in regards to the auction itself, but that doesn't take away from this couple's story. Just behind the scene's sort of things. It alternates POVs. Everything that happens is consensual but there is a past incident that may be considered a trigger for some readers.

3.5 stars, a good read with a few inconsistencies
Triple Xmas is a really interesting story, and while the writing is solid, it’s not flawless. Chapter 12, in particular, pulled me out of the story a bit: Scarletta is blindfolded, yet Caleb can still see her eyes fluttering, opening, and closing, which felt inconsistent.
That said, this book is truly unhinged, in the best way. The MMC is a full-on psychopath, and the FMC is clearly terrified of what she actually wants, which makes their dynamic compelling and tense. The ending wasn’t exactly what I expected, but I’m relieved the next book is coming out soon because I’m definitely invested enough to continue Scarletta and Caleb’s story.

Now how can I go about making all MY kinky fantasies come true because so far, I've been striking out in that area. The "dirty daddies" I meet spank my butt and think they invented kink. I want to be splayed open on the gyno chair too damnit!

What I thought would be a kinky little Christmas story is the beginning of three novellas. Oh goodie goodie gumdrops! I am thrilled to read more about my submissive soul sister Scarletta and her Watcher Master Caleb. Perhaps I'll buy a few copies and leave them scattered around so my male companions might read a few highlighted paragraphs and learn a thing or two.
I am super excited about the next book. Per the author, these will be standalones and you won't have to read each one. But why would you skip any? This book was super hot and I want more of these two!

I finished the last 45 mins of a 5 book Super Spicy Christmas series this morning. Was about to go to Goodreads and see what to read next with a holiday theme. And kindle pops up Authors new releases today. Well J.A. Huss new book Triple Xmas was 🔥 from pg 1 till the end. I feel like my list of holiday reads might not get past the bar set here. Well, since I'm a huge fan of Author J.A. Huss, I actually should have known, since her books never disappoint me. To say she can keep you on the edge of your seat with a keystroke doesn't quite do her justice. The adventure between Scarlett and Caleb is just beginning and I can't wait for all of the delicious depravity of VD Day in their world.

Now this is the J.A. Huss I have come to know and love! She doesn't hesitate as we dive right into the secluded and secret life of Scarletta and the erotic nightmare she is about to partake in. A mysterious man who is watching her every move through hidden cameras and an intricate hacking of her laptop, wants Scarletta, since her face is exactly what he has craved with every wild tattoo he has inked on his body. It's wicked sexy intensity and I couldn't get enough.
Our mystery man, with his scary mask and exquisite physique, is the kind of man Scarletta writes about all through the night. The fact that her sexy scenarios may come back to bite her (in all the best ways, of course) was a fabulous premise for this book! I mean, who doesn't fantasize about what we all read about at one time or another? And now that Scarletta may have her fantasies brought to life as she accepts an invitation to a nonexistent auction, I have to admit I was quite a bit jealous, albeit even a bit scared that things would go too far for her.
But Huss creates the perfect scenario and goes deep into Scarletta's mind as she succumbs, both willingly and a bit not, and experiences a bliss she could only dream about. Or write about, in her case. She can't believe what is happening to her and when her 24 hours are seemingly over, it's almost as if none of it ever occurred. A great twist that Huss offers up, with a subtle surprise element that had me gasping a bit out loud. I thought it was brilliant!
With an ending that is clearly a hint at what Scarletta may be up to next with her mystery man taking the reins once more, I was completely satisfied, as was our heroine many times over (!) and can't wait for the next installment in this wickedly wonderful new world.
Not the usual kind of holiday story I enjoy, Triple Xmas is worth every salacious moment. A true treat for this time of year as a one-of-a-kind present for us all.

Nothing is ever what it seems in a JA Huss book, and I live for that chaos. Every page and every chapter had me completely hooked in this fun, twisted, dark little (not-so-Christmas) read.
And that ending… I won’t lie, I was nervous right up until the very end — but that epilogue? It delivered and pulled everything together, leaving me excited and wanting more.
If you love a dark, holiday-vibe read that’s more shadow than sparkle, this one’s for you.

Author JA Huss usually writes intricate stories twice as long as this one, but she surprised me with this one. At only 200+ pages, she manages to stack up all the tropes I love into a dark and twisted story that leaves our FMC, Scarletta, wondering what happened. I didn't know what to expect, but I trusted this author to take me on a short wild ride, and she delivered 100%! It's full of spice and everything (not) nice!

This was just weird. There was no story and I managed to read until 73% and then I thought, if I don’t know what is going on until now, I won’t later.
The issue wasn’t with the triggers. I was fine with that. First, I thought there was flat out no story. There were inconsistencies that meant no one paid attention. If she is blindfolded, how does he see her pupils are dilated? I mean, did no one edit it? I like smut, but with a story. Sigh.

I used to love this author. I read a lot of their work and even previously promoted it. But I will I longer support them with their blatant use of AI in graphics and advertising. How would I even know if the author wrote these words themselves?
