Secrets Beneath the Snow by Ruby Valentina was my most anticipated read. I loved the first two books and I was very anxious to know how it all would end. This book is the last book in the Snowfall Harbor Mysteries, but it really wasn’t. And it was also really weird that the blurb did not show up anywhere in this book, so I am now very confused.
It all started with a mystery and disappearance many years ago of a young girl in a magical sleepy wonderful small town, but where things are hushed up and people are secretive. Through the first two books we got more information and I was so hoping to read who was behind it all. In Secrets Beneath the Snow librarian Oliva loves her job. When an old friend shows up to help her with an exhibit of the town, they find clues about the disappearance.
The writing style is great, flowing and the world-building is amazing. It is winter and snowing and this all made for a great setting. You could see the snow and feel the cold. It also made for a wonderful mysterious setting. As the end of the book came into view, I thought that finally we learned what happened all those years ago. There are some solutions and new people show up, and this made it all the more fascinating. But the book and story end almost abruptly! No way this is the end. I still don’t know what is going. There has to be a following book.
I really loved reading this series. It is an engaging cozy mystery series, with a great setting, a good plot with a mystery you want to be solved, but Ruby Valentina let us down if this is the end of it all. I want to give this book 5 stars for the great reading experience, but if this is really the end of the Snowfall Harbor Mysteries, then I have to give it 3 stars. I am very disappointed. The series is great, that’s not it, but I need answers!
