A Christmas Chance: A Holiday Romantic Comedy

Rate this book
Friends to Lovers. Forbidden Love. One Christmas Party.

Elizabeth and John have spent their whole lives insisting there’s nothing between them.
Life kept throwing them together from childhood, but even one awkward high school kiss wasn’t enough to make them admit the obvious.

Years later, John is no longer the boy she once knew but a charismatic, annoyingly handsome photographer who can catch any moment on camera…
and look at Elizabeth in a way no one else ever has.

There’s just one problem.
Actually,
She’s dating Michael.
He’s dating Emily—Michael’s twin sister.

Two couples, one tight-knit friend group, endless evenings spent together.
The closer they all become, the harder it is for Lizzie and John to hide the jealousy, the lingering looks, the “accidental” touches… and the huge secret they’re both afraid to say out loud.

On Christmas Eve, with snowy New York glowing under a million lights, fate throws them together yet again—face to face, under the mistletoe, at a holiday party that changes everything.

Now they have to
Keep living the “right” life for everyone else…
or risk friendships, relationships, and Christmas itself for the one person who’s always been more than just a friend.

This cozy Christmas romance is full of first-love nostalgia, sharp banter within a chaotic friend group, and a slow-burn heat that finally ignites under the tree. Perfect for fans of holiday rom-coms with a guaranteed HEA.

A light, festive romantic comedy. The plot is interesting and not a cliché. The characters feel real, and the scenes are written very cinematically. At times I would have liked a bit more pace; some moments could have been cut—not because they’re bad, but because they slow the story down. Maybe it’s missing a bit of spice and sharpness. Overall, though, it’s a pretty good story, especially considering, as I understand it, that this is the author’s debut book, so instead of three stars I’ll give it four to show my support)

This was such a sweet story; I loved the idea of this meant to be pair who ends up on opposite sides of the dating table when they end up dating twins.

However, the story could have been a little tighter, I felt it start to drag around 60-70%. Especially when the twins clue in and it's a whole lot longer till anyone takes action. It's a very SLOW burn with almost no spice, if that's what you're looking for.

Overall, it was promising but didn't quite meet the mark for me.

A Christmas Chance is my debut novel. My first characters who finally went out into the world beyond my drafts. I had so much fun writing this book and coming up with all sorts of situations for these two people in love.

But I can’t be objective about it, which is why I value readers’ opinions so much. If you leave a rating, I have one big request: please write just a few lines about what you liked and what you didn’t.

This was an extremely sweet story.

However I felt like it had drawn on a lot longer than was necessary.

I liked the style of getting both sides of the characters and their thoughts and feelings.

However I felt like it wasn't necessary to add both points of view for every single scene.

Loved that we got some flashbacks but it got tiring for me when we keep getting the same memories more than once.
