She built walls around her heart. He’d break them down to feel it beat again.
Rishi had only ever loved two his mother, who abandoned him, and Anika, the girl he grew up with. Neither of them loved him back.
Anika was his green in a world drained of color. Six years ago, she stopped talking to him, leaving his heart in pieces, without ever telling him why. Yet that shattered heart never stopped beating for her.
When an anonymous email lands in his inbox, Rishi recognizes it’s Anika. He takes it as fate’s second chance. He plays along, letting her believe he doesn’t know it’s her.
The secret chat begins.
Secrets she buried for six years begin to crack open.
But what if the truth she’s hiding is the one thing that can ruin them both? …….
Ever since Anika knew love, it had one Rishi.
The day she wanted to confess her feelings, the devastating truth crushed her he had never seen her romantically. Heartbroken, and humiliated, she pushed him away to the point of becoming strangers.
Six years later when fate pulled her right to his door, she told herself her heart would stay guarded this time, yet how could it, when it never stopped beating for him?
But what if the truth she believed isn't true at all?
It wasn’t going to break their past, but break Rishi too. **** Between late night secret chats, her brother’s wedding, and a winter road trip down South India, they started falling for each other all over again. The desire to have a happy life was within their reach. But when was the road to happiness smooth?
Even the strongest roots shake in a storm.
Challenges would arise, forces would threaten to pull them apart, and their love would be tested. They say a love without conflicts is an infatuation. Rishi and Anika’s story was anything but that.
***** Brother's best friend, childhood crush, second chance, family drama.
This is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone.
This book hits me way harder than I expected. I picked it up thinking it would be a soft, cute romance, but it slowly turned into something that sat heavy on my heart. It’s full of quiet feelings, old memories, and the ache of loving someone for years without ever saying it out loud. I honestly can’t even explain how many times I cried while reading this book.
Rishi and Anika’s love completely broke me. It’s not loud or dramatic...it’s slow, patient, and full of things left unsaid. From Rishi bringing her strawberries, their secret chats, the nicknames they give each other, to those small stolen moments that mean everything, each scene just added to the ache. The banter, the soft teasing, the way they care without openly admitting it… it hurt in the best way. Every pause, every glance, every moment where they almost say what they feel and don’t, made me want to scream just tell each other already. The longing and hesitation felt painfully real.
What I loved most is how real everything feels...the family bonds, the emotions, the side characters, and that warm desi touch throughout the story. Nothing feels forced. I wanted more🥺
This book is absolutely fantabulous. From holding on to those little teasers and desperately waiting for its release to finally reading it—it felt incredibly soul-soothing. Finishing the book felt so satisfying, and it was absolutely worth the wait. I completed it in one sitting and loved every second of it.
This book has all the perfect elements one could ask for—humor, romance, intensity, chemistry, tension, drama, and emotions. Everything is perfectly balanced. I genuinely want to ask: do you publish a humor guide? Because I am absolutely in love with the author’s sense of humor. Even during dramatic or serious scenes, there’s always a touch of comic relief. It never feels overwhelmingly heavy; instead, you’re left smiling afterward. There’s something incredibly charming about the author’s writing.
This is my first time reading this author’s work, and I can confidently say it won’t be my last. I am definitely going to read her earlier books and the upcoming ones as well.
Now, the chemistry—oh my god, don’t even get me started. I was literally screaming, blushing, giggling, and cheering while reading. My face was practically on fire during that date scene. The chemistry was insane. I was like, either kiss each other already or kill each other, because the tension was that intense.
I also loved that the plot wasn’t overloaded with unnecessary misunderstandings. The misunderstanding that was present felt realistic and relatable. We’ve all experienced that unrequited crush where we convince ourselves the other person doesn’t feel the same and step back to protect our hearts. Sometimes, though, that “unrequited” crush is just an idiot who needs a reality check—and this book captures that perfectly.
The relationships and bonds in the story were such a delight, especially Rishi and Anika’s father. Their banter was hilarious, and Rishi’s father playing Cupid was just chef’s kiss. It really felt like everyone around them knew they were in love—except the two idiots who were already equally doomed.
I absolutely adored Mrinal and Anika’s bond. They are the perfect partners-in-crime; their dynamic was so fun to read.
One thing this book made me realize is that physical intimacy doesn’t always need explicit scenes. Chemistry, connection, and desire can be conveyed through words, tension, and unspoken moments—and this book does exactly that. There were no explicit scenes, yet the chemistry and physical tension were so intense you could cut it with a butter knife.
I loved this book so much, and I’m definitely picking up Aryan’s book next.
I had been waiting for this book for ages. After falling in love with the author’s writing in the first book, I was desperate to get my hands on the second. And when it finally arrived? A little delay, a little illness, a lot of dramatic sighing but let’s skip my tragic backstory and get to the good stuff.
Because this book? A complete package.
The angst in this story was delicious, perfectly balanced with warmth and softness. Anika and Rishi’s love was tender, deep, and tangled in all the right ways. Yes, there’s miscommunication frustrating, absolutely but it fits the narrative and adds weight to their journey.
Their reconnection, the secret chats, the shared vulnerability… everything felt so heartfelt. I loved the layers in the story: • Anika’s relationship with her brother and father • Rishi’s dynamic with his own father • And the entire mother-related twist that added such emotional depth
Catching glimpses of the couple from the first book felt like a sweet reunion too.
This book is comforting, warm, and beautifully Desi in all the right ways the emotions, the chemistry, the family ties. Tara nails the vibe effortlessly.
I’m absolutely in love with this story and already planning my reread. If a paperback ever drops, I’ll be the first in line to grab it.
If you love slow-burn romance, emotional character arcs, and a story that feels like home, Twisted Secrets needs to be on your TBR.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin with twisted secrets..cause from the very first page..this book had all of my attention & refused to let go.!! If I’m being real , it’s wasn’t the writing that hooked me first..it was the tropes😩❤️ ✨childhood besties to lovers…she fell first..he fell harder…brother’s bestfrnd…slow burn ..second chance romance✨ Like how could i not dive right in😩🫶🏻 ❤️🔥 Rishi & Anika own my whole heart.imagine being strangers for six long years.. yet still caring so deeply about each other. All because of a misunderstanding. One day never even committed. Six precious years were lost. The pain? you feel it🫠 ❤️🔥 Anika is such a breath of fresh air..bubbly strong & fiercely loved by her family. The way her brother protects he???on another level. But what i loved the most is how she knows how to handle situations herself. . And Rishi…AHHH❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 A complete gentleman (others mistake him for being the playboy🤧)protective to the core.! If Anika’s brother is intense..then Rishi is a whole different league. No one messes with his girl. The way he understands her..cares for her..calms her & flirts with her…gosh, i swear i needed a mint for some of those scenes🤭💗✨ ❤️🔥 When fate forces with to reconnect..watching them slowly find their way back to the old Rishi & Anika was everything.! The journey is emotional…beautifully written that you can’t put it down.!! ❤️🔥 The supporting characters deserve a special mention…Rishi’s parents..Anika’s brother…her sister in law and her dearest bestie chitra (Chitrasen🤭) all played their parts perfectly..gently pushing them where they needed to be.! The bond btw Rishi & Aryan deserves its own applause 🥹💕 brotherhood built on trust..loyalty nd silent understanding. ❤️🔥 & the family secrets.? Absolutely heartbreaking.my heart ached for Rishi in ways I didn’t expect..it was overwhelming. . No spoilers for the ending.!! Cause that’s something you need to experience yourself.! . & yes it won’t disappointed you❤️🔥
OH. MY. GOD.😭💗 This book owned me from page one and did NOT let me go. I went in expecting a soft second-chance romance and came out emotionally wrecked, healed, obsessed, and already wanting to reread it. Rishi and Anika didn’t feel like fictional characters at all — they felt like people I KNOW. The kind you root for, cry for, scream at, and want to personally protect with your life.
The bond between every single character was written so beautifully. Nothing felt forced, nothing felt extra — it all felt real, raw, messy, and human. And let’s talk about RISHI for a second??? My heart broke for that man again and again. His pain with his mother absolutely crushed me. I was genuinely sitting there like “PLEASE let this boy catch a break.” And THANK GOD the ending saved me from complete emotional destruction because I don’t think I would’ve recovered otherwise. 😭
The secret chats, the misunderstandings, the longing, the slow falling back in love — EVERYTHING HIT. I was so engrossed I genuinely forgot I was reading a book. I was living inside their world. And don’t even get me started on the winter road trip and wedding moments — pure serotonin, pure chaos, pure FEELINGS. 🥹
Also, the characters were so real that at some point I forgot this was fiction and fully felt like kicking a few characters’ asses myself (iykyk 😏😈). That’s how emotionally invested I was. This book made me laugh, ache, scream into my pillow, and then smile like an idiot two seconds later.
This story is addictive in the truest sense. The kind you keep thinking about even after you close the book. The kind you want to yap about endlessly to anyone who will listen. I loved the love, the pain, the healing, the conflicts — all of it. This wasn’t just a romance, it was an emotional experience.
If you love second chances, childhood bonds, childhood crush, secret pining, emotional damage with a satisfying payoff, and characters who feel painfully real — PICK. THIS. UP. Immediately. No questions asked. 💔➡️💖✨

I fell head over heels for Anika and Rishi!!!!🤍Their reconnection, the secret chats, the snarky comments, the shared vulnerability… everything felt so heartfelt and real!!! Anika and Rishi’s love was tender, deep, and tangled in all the right ways the tension between them!!! The way they care for each other...💓The angst in this story was delicious, perfectly balanced with warmth and softness!!! And felt every moment 🤍 The misunderstanding that was present felt realistic and relatable!!! Not so dramatic nor so complex!!! The dialogues? Amazing!! 🤍
The side characters were awesome... Chitra, Purple and Aryan and Mrinal... Ahh I loved her soo much 🤌 best Sister in law🥹
Vimala and Sanjeev. PLEASE... I want them together😫PLEASE
The families of Rishi and Anika and theirl relationship with each other is great!!! I enjoyed every words of this Book 🤌This book's Just Perfect thr humor, romance, intensity, chemistry, tension, drama, and emotions. Everything is perfectly balanced🫶 Loved this book soo much💗
At this point, I’ve fully accepted that I’m an absolute sucker for Desi romance, especially when it comes with a brother’s best friend trope, slow burn, secrets, and emotional tension—and Twisted Secrets delivered everything I didn’t even know I needed.
This book isn’t just about tropes; it’s about feelings that simmer quietly, misunderstandings that feel painfully real, and love that grows through stolen moments, secret chats, and unspoken care.
From the first page, it pulls you in and doesn’t let go. The pacing is spot-on, with short chapters that make it dangerously easy to keep reading long past bedtime.
Rishi and Anika completely stole my heart. Their bond is built on years of familiarity and unresolved emotions, making the slow burn incredibly satisfying.
The chemistry lives in the banter, teasing, hesitations, and quiet longing, and their secret conversations were easily one of my favourite parts—cute, funny, and emotionally loaded.
Anika is a beautifully written FMC—soft yet strong, kind, and deeply relatable. You feel every doubt and sacrifice she makes. And Rishi? Pure green-flag energy. Despite being labelled a playboy, he’s loyal, patient, and quietly devoted. Grumpy on the outside, soft at heart, and swoon-worthy in the way he shows love through care rather than grand gestures.
What truly stands out is how real the story feels. The misunderstandings come from fear and bad timing, not unnecessary drama, and the emotional moments hit hard—especially as family secrets unfold. The desi backdrop, warm family dynamics, and scene-stealing side characters add so much heart and authenticity without overshadowing the main story.
With sharp, sarcastic writing, laugh-out-loud banter, and heartfelt emotion, Twisted Secrets is the ultimate comfort read. If you love desi rom-coms, slow burns, emotional depth, and cozy, feel-good romance, this book is absolutely worth picking up!!!!
When the cover of Twisted Secrets came out, I was gone. That rich, mesmerising red? It didn’t just catch my eye, it pulled me in. I was obsessed with the aesthetic long before I even opened the book, and honestly, the story did not disappoint.
This was my first book by Tara, so I kept my expectations balanced… but the moment I realised it had one of my absolute favourite tropes, childhood best friends/lovers → enemies → lovers , I already knew I was in trouble. I’ve read very few books in this trope, but it is one I adore deeply.
I started this book two nights ago and finished it in two sittings, both times reading until 1 - 2 a.m. because I simply couldn’t stop. The story of Anika and Rishi, childhood best friends who always loved each other but never voiced it, hooked me immediately. A misunderstanding tears them apart, and six years later, fate brings them back into each other’s orbit, with Rishi still being best friends with Anika’s brother, Aryan.
Let me tell you: this book is adorable, heart-melting, and surprisingly emotional. The dialogues? Loved them. The character aesthetics? Spot on. The secret chats, the snarky comments, the tension? Chef’s kiss.
But the real standout for me was Rishi’s parents’ story. It absolutely broke me. Even though I had guessed the mystery (danger of being a seasoned romance reader!), it still hit with full force. Their story was written with so much sensitivity and depth, I genuinely had to pause and sit with my thoughts. Beautifully done.
Overall, Twisted Secrets is a warm, emotional, beautifully written romance that won me over completely. And yes, I’m absolutely picking up Twisted Desires next!
Highly recommended for anyone who loves second chances, nostalgia, slow-burn ache, and childhood-love tension done right.
This was one of those books that didn’t made me use my brain too much but still kept me entertained and tempted me to read just one more chapter.Rishi and Anika won my heart with their cuteness and banter, they made such a cute couple.Him being her brother’s best friend made it even more fun as I’m a sucker for that trope.Rishi is everything a mmc should be he’s sweet, caring, supportive and had a great sense of humour which matched with Anika perfectly, even their thinking processes were similar.I could deeply feel for Anika as she was heartbroken when she finds out he only saw her as a sister, the way she managed her emotions and completely stopped talking to Rishi to protect her feelings was really relatable. But destiny had other plans for them bcoz Rishi was unaware of his own feelings towards Anika and by the time he realises it,she started avoiding him yet he was keen on winning her over and understand what was going on with her. And one thing I found really funny was the nickname he had for her—Strawberry (in short berry) no hate to the author I just wasn’t the biggest fan of this nickname. The whole drama with Rishi’s mom and Anika joining his rival company kept me invested in the story. The way Rishi and Anika’s relationship progressed throughout the book was admirable they always had each other’s back even when they acted like they couldn’t stand one another. The side characters added more meaning to the plot and their presence definitely added some funny and lighthearted moments which I genuinely enjoyed. Overall I adored the rom-com vibes of this book and if you enjoy reading about unresolved feelings, childhood crushes and swoon worthy moments then this book is definitely for you.
Tropes: • Second chance romance • Brother’s best friend • Childhood friends-to-lovers • Secret Identity • Desi Romance • Family Drama
My Review:
Twisted Secrets had me completely hooked. It is filled with heartwarming, laugh-out-loud romance with undeniable chemistry and charming characters. I finished it at record speed because it was impossible to slow down.
Set in a vibrant desi backdrop, the true highlight of the story is the author’s sarcastic, humorous writing style, it’s sharp, effortless, and endlessly entertaining. The banter between the characters is what I lived for. Every conversation crackles with wit and warmth, making the reading experience incredibly immersive.
The characters feel natural, relatable, and beautifully written. The FMC is strong, emotionally grounded, and kind at her core, while the MMC is pure sunshine, he's soft, supportive, and genuinely swoon-worthy. Their connection is organic, their chemistry top-notch, and you can feel it in every shared moment. This is the kind of book that makes you giggle like a fool at 3 a.m., smiling at your screen.
The side characters are equally entertaining and well-integrated into the story, adding depth and humour without overshadowing the main plot. While the subplot does lean slightly towards implausible, it doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. The book remains thoroughly entertaining, a complete comfort read that delivers on romance, laughter, and heart.
Honestly, did I notice the tension between Rishi and Anika in book one? Yes. Did I ship them by the end? Yes. Is it only forbidden romance I was expecting? Yes. Did this blew away my little sane mind? Hell Yes.
When I started reading “Twisted Secrets”, I don't even know what I should expect except for the forbidden romance, and likely unlikely-ness between Rishi and Anika's father, Ajay. However, after reading the book, I'm all teary. It's more than a forbidden romance, love-hate-love tension, and funny banters for me.
The author just won my heart with the way she woven her words to portray the relationships. Each and every word was a chef's kiss, that I would sell myself to read this series again!!! Rishi and Anika, and my jigar, Aryan and Mrinal (the way I got emotional when I got to read Aryan's POV in this book!), they would just live with me forever.
Coming to the plot, setting, and narration, as I said, the plot is more than a forbidden romance, it's filled with suspense, secrets, betrayals, alongside the slow-burn tension. The setting is amazing!!! The words feel like they are made for this situation. And the narration? I can count it as unreliable narration at a few phases and I'm in love with that. The way the secrets unfolded letting the reader-world to know what's at stake, and the ultimate endgame, it's transcendent, and radiant.
Still in need of a clickbait? Aryan's endgame will make you laugh even on the edge of the seat, but why are you on the edge of the seat in the first place? Go grab your copy to know that 🦋❤️🔥
When I read Twisted Secrets it didn’t feel like just another romanc it actually felt like reopening a chapter of life which was thought to be already closed.
I wasn't drawn in just because of the tropes but how real everything felt. The misunderstandings here weren’t dramatic for the sake of drama they were painfully believable. The kind of that happens when people don’t speak up, when timing is wrong and when fear gets louder than love.
Anika is the kind of female lead you quietly root for. Anika is soft, strong, emotional and human like real. Her love isn’t loud but is deep and I felt every bit of it. Rishi the MMC he surprised me🔥. Mistakenly labelled as Playboy is a man full of loyalty and unspoken devotion. His love was seen in his care, patience and protection which hits harder than any grand gesture.
What I truly loved was the pacing. The story breathes. The secret chats, banter, silence they all carry weight. I felt the longing, hesitation and what ifs. So when family secrets unfolded especially for Rishi the story took me emotional on a deep ride I wasn’t fully prepared for.✅️
The side characters and family truly add warmth and real feel making it feel lived in and authentic. This book just felt to be layered, messy and honest.
Twisted Secrets is for the reader who enjoy slow burns, emotional tension, desi warmth and love stories that feel imperfect but sincere.
I’m completely overwhelmed and happy for so many reasons after finishing Twisted Secrets.
First of all, I am incredibly proud of Tara. Watching her growth as a writer has been such a joy, and this book truly reflects how much effort, passion, and hard work she puts into her craft.
Now, the story. I have always said that miscommunication tropes are not really my thing, but Tara’s writing is the one exception I will never skip. I’m so glad I picked this up because the story has its own kind of magic. It is swoony, dramatic, and unapologetically romantic in the best way possible.
That little snippet teasing the next part in the series deserves a special mention. It did exactly what it was meant to do, and now I’m waiting very impatiently to see what comes next.
The characters were another highlight for me. Every single one of them served a purpose. No one felt unnecessary, and each character managed to stand out in their own way. I am still holding on to the hope that we might someday get a novella about Vimala and Sanjeev, because that would honestly be amazing. And finally, on a more personal note, the special thanks at the end genuinely made me emotional.
If you are a romance lover, Twisted Secrets is definitely a must-read. It delivers all the Bollywood charm and desi romance energy you could possibly ask for.
This book took my whole heart and squeezed it in the BEST possible way. Tara really outdid herself with this one.
Rishi and Anika… OH. MY. GOD. Childhood friends to something so much deeper 😭🔥 Brother’s best friend … the tension, the history, the unspoken feelings 🥺💞 AND she works in his enemy’s company!? Like… hello?? The drama, the forbidden vibes, the slow burn… I was on the FLOOR 😭🔥
And the NICKNAMES??? Chocolate Boy 🍫 (I’m still kicking my feet.) Ice Queen ❄️👑 (the POWER this holds.) Berry 🍓 (who gets called Berry??? I would actually melt.)
Their connection felt so intimate, so soft, and so painfully beautiful. Every silent moment between them had weight.
But wait—because Aryan and Mrinal? I LOVE THEM 😩❤️ They added so much warmth, support, and chaos in the best way. I didn’t expect to adore them this much but here we are.
And don’t even get me started on Rishi’s parents 😭 We barely got much of them but the little we saw??? The quiet pain… the hidden love… the stories they carried… Rishi’s bond with his mom, the heartbreak of her being unable to show the care he deserves, and his dad’s entire emotional journey—just WOW. Their story touched me more than I expected, honestly.
Overall, Twisted Secrets was EVERYTHING— softness, angst, nostalgia, longing, emotional tension, unforgettable characters—all wrapped into one beautiful mess of feelings 💔
Twisted Secrets by Tara pulled me right into its warm, heartbreaking world from the first page. It's the kind of book that feels like coming home, with real emotions that stick with you long after you finish.
Anika and Rishi grew up as childhood best friends, but a huge misunderstanding six years ago turned them into strangers—Anika thought Rishi never saw her as more than a friend, so she built walls around her heart. Rishi, still secretly in love, spots her anonymous email and plays along in secret late-night chats, sparking their slow reconnection amid her brother's wedding and a cozy South Indian Road trip.
Tara weaves in family layers beautifully, like Rishi's painful backstory with his absent mother and the heartfelt father-son bond, making every tear and laugh feel earned and Desi to the core. The angst from miscommunication builds real tension without dragging, and their vulnerability turns frustration into pure heart-melt. Tara's writing shines with snappy dialogues, nostalgic vibes, and emotional depth that hits hard—her sensitivity to family twists left me pausing to wipe tears, yet smiling at the hope. It's immersive, honest about love's messiness, and shows growth that feels human, not forced.
"Anika was his green in a world drained of color."
This book felt like home🤌🏻🫠 From the very first page, Twisted Secrets pulls you into a world of love, family, secrets, and slow-burn romance that quietly settles into your heart. 💗
Rishi and Anika have my whole heart😭. The way anika loved him, went through all the kehta lenghts to support him omggg Their secret chats, the soft longing, the teasing banter, and the way their bond unfolds layer by layer had me smiling at my phone like a fool. The chemistry is gentle yet intense, and the payoff? Absolutely worth the wait. ✨
The family dynamics👀 Anika with her father and brother, Rishi with his parents, it made everything so tender, so real, deeply felt, rooted and authentic. And the side characters—Chitra, Purple (still waiting for that real name 😭), Vimala, Sanjeev…everyone they totally lit up the book.
The desi warmth, the humor, the emotions, the unexpected twist everything flowed so beautifully that I flew through the pages. This is the kind of story that makes you believe in love, patience, and understanding all over again.
Loved all the cute lil moments such as Rishi bringing her strawberries 😭🤌🏻 and especially the nicknames omg i am a total sucker for nicknames. Need a rishi in my life asap.
Twisted Secrets isn’t just a love story it feels like revisiting emotions you once buried and thought you had moved on from. The romance unfolds with honesty, where conflicts aren’t created for drama but are born from unspoken feelings, emotional distance, and missed chances. Everything feels painfully real, making the journey deeply relatable.
Anika is a refreshingly authentic female lead gentle yet resilient, emotional yet grounded. Her love speaks in silence, patience, and depth. Rishi, who may appear charming and carefree at first, surprises you with his unwavering loyalty and quiet devotion. His affection isn’t loud or dramatic; it’s steady, protective, and consistent and that’s what makes it powerful.
The slow-burn romance is deliciously intense, layered with teasing banter, stolen glances, and unspoken yearning. The story takes its time, letting emotions settle naturally, and when long-hidden family truths come to light, they strike straight at the heart. With endearing side characters, relatable desi family moments, and subtle humor woven throughout, this book feels raw, warm, and beautifully imperfect.
A story about love that waits, wounds that heal slowly, and connections that never truly fade. 💙📖
I fell in love with this book so freaking much that I can't describe it. This book is the second book in the series which follows the story of Anika and Rishi and their love for each other.
Rishi's character I love him so so so much, that I can't even describe in words. While reading his character I was like how do I find someone like him in reality 😩.
Anika's character I adored her so much, her love for Rishi was so much but in spite of all this she always chose herself first was something which I loved about her.
The book was so pure and so loving. I remember when I started reading this book I didn't give a thought that I would cry while reading this book. I love all the characters in the book.
Some of the scenes in the book were so beautifully written like the one where he brings strawberries for her, their chats, the nicknames which they gave to each other, the banter among the parents and the kids. Their love for each other was one of the most beautiful things that had happened in the book. I love them so freaking much 😩
When I finished reading this book I was like why did it finish so soon I wanted to read more about them.
Overall I would recommend you all to read this book. I am sure you are gonna love this book so much.
Twisted Secrets is a wonderfully penned book with the love story of Rishi and Anika filled with emotions like deep longing, secret chats, hilarious banters and lovey dovey moments an unputdownable read. The most noteworthy aspect of the book is that it creatively and starkly provide us with a detailed glimpse into the world of food technology industry.
Rishi who stands out as a protective lover and a devoted son seems a fun personality with his hilarious ways of teasing Anika and also never failing to impress you with his fun ways of dealing with his friends and rivals. Anika impresses you with her sheer bravery of finding out the truth, her zeal for helping people and bringing out her child like nature in front of her dear ones.
Vimala Soman is one of the most vibrant characters whose intriguing personality seems dramatic at first but as the story unfolds, you feel deeply for her unwavering strength and untold pain. Her relationship with Rishi and Anika is heartwarming.
The families of Rishi and Anika and their cordial relationship with each other is great to read. With mystery and romance crafted in perfect blend, the book is a must read for all.
Twisted Secrets' filled me with temptation to read, curiosity, a total page-turner and lots and lots of love!!
This is a brother's best-friend themed book. Anika in her teens, develops a crush on her brother's bestie and also her best-friend; Rishi.. who gets himself a girlfriend, totally shattering her heart. And, she stops talking to him, entirely. Then, 6 years later.. she decides to work in a company, which has rivalries with Rishi's. That was when a 'secret' conversation started.. which leads to sparks flying everywhere..
There is also a bit (probably a bit more) family drama.. Rishi's mother abandoned him at a young age after showering him with a lot of love. As the plot develops, we get to know the actual reason behind the situation and how much the mother actually cares for her son.
All in all, I was totally in love with this book. The plot, although familiar, was sooo well written! But after reading the book, I'm sooo curious about the side characters and their love stories.. especially the brother, Aryan and Mrinal's.. I'm really hoping to pick it up in 2026

Tara's writing is elegant and refined, crafting a narrative that's both mesmerizing and immersive. It was a great read👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻Really loveddd it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Anika and Rishi share a deep bond that began in childhood. Still, a misunderstanding six years ago turns them into strangers after she realises her feelings and learns he never saw her romantically. Secret chats reopen buried secrets, building tension through snarky banter, slow-burning ache, and family drama, including emotional twists about Rishi's parents that add surprising depth.
The book shows the Desi cultural vibes, nostalgia, and balanced angst with warmth. Dialogues shine with wit and authenticity, enhancing character chemistry. Strong family dynamics, like Anika's protective brother and Rishi's father issues, create layered emotional arcs.
Emotional side stories, especially Rishi's parents, deliver sensitivity that resonates deeply.
The chatting between Rishi and theif were my favourite. I had a hysterical laugh 😂 😂.
This read is ideal for slow-burn romance lovers seeking emotional, culturally rich stories with childhood sweetheart tension.
The story follows Anika and Rishi, childhood friends, but a misunderstanding forces them to be apart many years. Anika likes him but doesn't express as she feels he doesn't like her that way. Years later, they meet, and there's unspoken tension and ache. There are so many elements that kept me hooked. The secrets about Rishi's family were very intriguing for me.
Anika is such a cutie pie, and Rishi is a sweetheart. The secret chats between Rishi and an anonymous thief 🤭 were so funny and cute. I couldn't stop reading once I started it. I was hooked so much, the elements, the drama, the love, the fun, the emotions everything has my heart 💟 I have to talk about Rishi, that man had me giggling, blushing 🤭🔥 The writing was so smooth, I really loved it. The banter and romantic moments between the main characters were the highlight. The other characters added so much depth and fun to the story.
love is like a plant, nuture it with care and understand is important but misunderstanding is the poison of Love....
This story has good character development from misunderstanding to understanding oneself is well explained... especially Rishi shows emotion and yearning of love is soo special. Showing oneself takes a lot of courage here Rishi has provin the love is always beautiful no matter what 💕..
Anika is a one such a beauty no one can denied where she shows beauty with brains. she is one such character where people misunderstand for loved and over protected by her family, deep down she is a gold no matter...
It's really a bittersweet one for Rishi's parents but they will overcome it too. Overall it worth reading if you want a beautiful love stories,a yearning mother and son duo, bestfriends for life. Eager to read other books of this series 💓💓.
Twisted Secrets didn’t just feel like a love story it felt like reopening an old chat window you swore you’d never click again. People connected deeply with the ache of unfinished emotions, with Rishi’s quiet, loyal love that never really moved on, and Anika’s guilt-heavy silence that explained more than it excused.
What hit hardest was the anonymity trope I loved how the emails stripped them raw, letting honesty exist before courage did. I felt frustrated, even angry at times but in that very frustration lay the realism of the story, because love isn’t neat when secrets are involved.
The emotional push and pull, the longing, the “almost,” made me slow down, reread lines, and sit with the heaviness of what unsaid words can do. By the end, the consensus wasn’t that the story was perfect—it was that it felt real, messy, and painfully close to how second chances actually unfold.
This book was such an easy and enjoyable read — the kind that feels light but still keeps you hooked. I loved how naturally the story flowed, especially the emotional tension between the main characters. Their journey was full of quiet moments, unspoken feelings, and situations that felt very real.
The male lead stood out for his patience and emotional depth, while the female lead’s struggles and inner conflict made her feel relatable and strong. What I enjoyed most was how the story focused on growth, misunderstandings, and timing rather than unnecessary drama.
The side characters and family dynamics added warmth and a few fun moments that balanced the emotional parts well. Overall, it gave me soft rom-com vibes with a hint of angst. If you enjoy slow-burn romance, emotional connection, and comfort reads, this book is definitely worth checking out.
"Twisted Secrets" by Tara is a stunning conclusion to an amazing year! 😍 This book is a masterful blend of romance, drama, and emotions, and I'm so glad I ended my reading year with it.
The Brother's Bestfriend trope is my absolute favorite trope and it gets a perfect execution here, and Anika and Rishi's story is everything and more 😘. Their chemistry is 🔥, and the way they navigate their feelings for each other, despite the misunderstandings and distance, is both heartwarming and perfect and swoony.
What I loved about this book is how Tara crafts complex characters that feel real and relatable. Vimala's character arc is particularly striking – her sacrifices, her struggles, and her transformation had me invested in her story 😢. Aryan and Mrinal, the side characters, are adorable and add to the book's charm 😊.
Twisted Secrets is a soft, emotional romance that slowly pulls you in and stays with you. It’s warm, heartfelt, and filled with quiet moments that mean a lot.
Rishi and Anika’s story is all about hidden feelings, gentle love, and emotional connection. Their bond feels real and comforting, and the slow way their relationship grows makes it even more beautiful. The banter, the secret chats, and the unspoken emotions make their love story very special 🤍
I also loved the family and side characters as they bring depth, warmth, and a sense of realism to the story. The book felt very relatable to me.
Overall, this is perfect if you enjoy slow-burn romance with meaningful connections and heartwarming moments.
This book wraps romance, drama, and emotions so tightly that you can’t put it down. Anika is written so beautifully, she feels real, raw, and deeply relatable. Every little girl who’s ever loved too hard and felt bad about it later 💔, will see a part of herself in her. ❤️
The tension? Chef’s kiss. The emotions? Hits you right in the chest. The secrets? Ohhh, they keep unfolding layer by layer, making you flip pages like your life depends on it.
If you’re someone who loves slow-burn romance, intense feelings, and a LOT of drama, just pick this one up already. Trust me, you’ll lose sleep, but your heart will be full. 🥹✨
This book turned out to be such a fun mix of romance and comedy and I genuinely enjoyed how the author weaved in so much about food technology. It added a unique touch to the story. The secret conversations between Thief and Buffoon were hands down my favourite part and an absolute highlight of the story. The side characters too played promising roles in the narrative. But the twist in Rishi’s life that almost broke me was quite well written that I couldn’t help but tear up for him. My poor boy truly deserved better!
That said, I would have loved to see a little more of Rishi and Anika’s happy ending together.
