I didn't connect with this one quite as much as I did with Driver but my review is very similar - dark, brutal and non-stop.
This one felt a bit more scattered, and more like a fever dream, which reflects Calix's state of mind for most of the book. Definitely on the very dark side and a few hard scenes to digest but still very good.
It's hard to stop once you pick up a Vice book.

A story of a broken man just trying to make sense of a dystopian world and fighting his will to live. The main character Calix was a character that lived in the grey area and traveled many paths while meeting many people.. or maybe just the same path in continuous back/forth.
Recommended if you want an emotional, gritty survival story. Calix carries grief and a bad*** survival instinct through his journey.

I loved this! Part one was jumpy grotesque philosophical dread really deep diving into the MC's mental state but after it levels out to a real journey with a bit of Nightmareland Chronicles by Daniel Barnett and A Boy and His Dog by Harlan Ellison. Lots of existential wondering and human curiosity. It really scratches that post-apocalyptic, dark philosophical itch.
