I love a great romantic suspense book that brings in military or similar aspects. Sometimes it’s tough to find a great balance between the romance and the action in the suspense portion.
Some authors don’t do it well, but then others find a great balance. This author has shown that balance in this new release.
I think this is the first book I’ve read by James, and she delivers a story loaded with action, suspense, romantic interludes, and a great plot that keeps you interested and flipping the pages quickly.
The character development was deep, although I wanted to know a bit more about the main character’s history. I enjoyed all of the secondary characters, too. They are cross-overs from past books in the series and added to the depth of the story.
A few areas in the story had some quirks, and I think a thorough review by an editor would catch some of the inconsistencies that are annoying and break the flow of the story.
Overall, Echo: Hold has a great blend of building well-paced suspense. The romance between characters is believable, and Stryker is an awesome MMC- steamy and uber protective, just the way we like ’em.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Men of Echo Ridge series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book. I loved this book for the first page to the last page. I loved everything about this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Echo: Hold is already the 4th story of the series,and i have to say it’s getting better by the book.
Yes,Rachel and Colton take their time reconnecting,and accepting their feelings are still as strong as 8 years ago.
And yes,they both keep talking about what happens after….will Colton stay,or leave again?
But there’s a child involved,Rachel has a 6 year old son,called Lucas.
That,in my opinion,is reason enough to make sure their relationship is solid.
What Rachel went through after Colton left the first time,is enough to cause trauma.
Lucky enough,she got rescued,and the man she was with,the father of her son,Matteo,was killed.
But after Rachel finally settled down in Tuscon with Lucas,and tried to get on with life after,he saw a man getting killed at the back of the store.
By a man that would do anything to make sure that Lucas wouldn’t talk about it….Kessler.
Because he just killed a man that used to be involved in Protocol Seven,making it Committee business.
Colton was determined not to fail the woman he’d left behind all those years ago this time.
The woman he never stopped loving,but who he thought deserved a better life,without him.
Seeing her again,seeing the change in her,he knew he couldn’t walk away a second time.
But he also knew he had a fight ahead of him,and not just to keep her,and Lucas,safe.
He knew he had to earn her trust,and her heart,back…..and he knew he’d die trying.
When danger comes very close,and relocating to a safe house isn’t enough,they move to Echo Base.
Meeting the team,Colton’s family,drives the seriousness of the situation home even more for Rachel.
But she knows they’ll do everything they can to keep her and Lucas safe.
And she knows she can’t live without Colton again…..even if that means letting him walk into danger,time and time again…..
The fact that Lucas idolises Colton,and wants him to stay with them,makes the decision a little easier.
But will they get that well deserved happy after this time?

While this is the 4th story in the Men of Echo Ridge series, all of the romantic suspense and dangerous action holds strong. And who doesn't love a second chance to make things right trope? Colton and Rachel both have survived broken hearts, but coming to grips with the past and working together to move forward may take more than they can believe.

Fabulous from front to back. We met Stryker at the beginning of this series to me he was always the tortured one. Now I know he was tortured but by himself needlessly.
Rachel to escape her heartbreak moves to South America with an Aid group and meets and falls in love with a man who provides them with medical supplies and all manner of aid they have not been able to get from the system that supplies them closing her eyes to the little red signals. After moving in with her so very charming man and of course getting pregnant all of her closed eyes come home to roost. She and her son are finally rescued then Colton shows up once again.

This book was especially emotional, simply because the newest target of The Committee is a small child who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It will now be up to the the men and women of Echo Ridge to keep him and his mother alive. This is a very fast paced story that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat right until the end. It is a story of forgiveness and second chances. And who would ever think that that there is time for second chances when one of The Committee's strongest hunters is hunting this little boy and the people of Echo Ridge? This was a very enjoyable story - very emotional as well. And as a bonus, a new character is introduced to the fortress known as Echo Ridge. Well done.

Totally enraptured with this edition though it's brutal at times. Years ago Stryker left Rachel, thinking he can't be the man for her, but that led to her meeting Mateo and pregnant with his son after she ignored all the red flags. Mica Hawthorne extracted her and her son from the cartel compound, killing Mateo, but 6 years later Lucas witnessed an assassination by Kessler of the Committee. The Committee wants him dead, yes they'll stoop that low. Now Stryker is back in her life, protecting them along with the the Echo Ridge team. Can they rekindle what they had and build up the broken trust? A suspense filled, second chance storyline that will keep you riveted.

Stryker and Rachel had a past that she never expected to revisit until Stryker showed up to.protect her 6 year old son Lucas.
The Committee is after Lucas and Stryker is there for the long haul. This book is a non stop rollercoaster of action, danger, and suspense. I enjoyed the moments with Lucas, Khalid, and Odin. Khalid was so protective of Lucas. There were a couple of heated moments between Rachel and Stryker.
What overshadowed everything was the way the team was coordinated and supported one another. There goal to protect Lucas from Kessler. Once again, the battle was won, but the war was definitely ongoing. Makes one wonder if it will ever come to an end? Can the Committee be defeated?

A captivating book in the Echo Ridge series. Rachel & Stryker have a traumatic history. He walked away leaving Rachel with a broken heart. Rachel volunteers for a humanitarian organization in Mexico in an attempt to move on with her life. Fast forward several years - she is now back in the states, trying to provide for her young son. Suddenly he is now a target of the committee because he saw something he shouldn't have. Stryker is assigned to protect Rachel & her son Lucas. A fast paced & suspenseful well written book.

This series just gets better with each story, this is the fourth book. Rachel and her son are the new targets of the Committee. Having brought up her son and recovering from a broken heart, she's determined to do everything she can to protect her son. When the Men from Echo Ridge come to the rescue along with Stryker we see them all work too protect and the truth behind their friendship is at the forefront. This is another suspenseful, emotional and a second chance story that brings the whole story together.

Stryker has always loved Rachael and thought walking away was best but of course it wasn't. Rachael went on with life but something was missing , more like someone was missing.

Echo: Hold Book 4 of the Men of Echo Ridge by Delta James is an action-packed, drama-filled, full of danger with strong characters and excellent worldbuilding. A must read!

Stryker and Rachel have been through so much in their lives eight years ago, they shared an intense romance, but Stryker made the decision to leave her, believing it would keep her safe. It shattered him inside, but he was convinced it was for the best however, his absence left Rachel vulnerable, and someone took advantage of her pain. From that betrayal came the most precious thing in her life her son, Lucas, who became her reason to keep going and fight to stay safe.
The present changes everything when Lucas sees something he shouldn't, something that puts him in the Committee's crosshairs this danger forces Stryker back into Rachel's life. The reunion isn't easy; the feelings from the past are still raw, and the pain never fully healed and my heart broke for both of them because neither deserved to have spent so many years apart, especially when it was clear they never stopped loving each other.
Rachel is no longer the same she has become harder, more distrustful, she has built walls to protect herself, although deep down she knows that the love she feels for Stryker will live within her forever and Stryker, that man, never stopped loving her, this time he is willing to do what he didn't do in the past and decides to stay , he promises Rachel that he will protect their son until his last breath, and he keeps every word.
As Stryker and the entire Echo Base confront the Committee, his feelings for Rachel grow even stronger, and she slowly decides to open her heart to him again, knowing that she can no longer live apart from him. Amidst dangers, open wounds, and unfinished conversations, they both manage to find a balance, and Rachel finally understands why Stryker left her and lets him back into her heart, because she understands that she never stopped loving him and that now he is willing to fight to stay forever.
Together they face the threats and manage to bring Lucas to safety, their bond strengthens as they fight against insecurities, fears, and the constant danger surrounding their lives and they find their way back to each other, and their love grows stronger with every step they take together.
Lucas demonstrates admirable courage and finds a true father figure in Stryker, because a father isn't just the one who fathers a child, but the one who protects and cares for you, even in the darkest moments. Rachel, for her part, finds a family in the team, people who support and defend her against any adversity.
Although they managed to neutralize this threat, nothing is truly over, the Committee will not give up and will continue trying to win this game and destroy Echo Base. The short preview of the next book left me wanting more and with great anticipation for what's to come.

Their wounds broke my heart, the tension between them was palpable from the very beginning, and the development of both the story and the characters was simply excellent. ECHO: HOLD is the fourth instalment in Delta James’s contemporary, adult MEN OF ECHO RIDGE romantic, military suspense series focusing on a group of former Delta Force soldiers. This is Colton Stryker, and single mother Rachel Donovan’s story line. This is the fourth book in this series, it can be read as a standalone but I would urge reading the series in sequence to obtain the most enjoyment.
Rachel Donovan is left broken hearted when Stryker, the man that she loved, waked out leaving just a note on her pillow. Stryker's world was a dangerous one, he knew that he couldn't put a target on Rachels back, but it was a decision that he would come to regret.
Rachel tried to forget Stryker, she tried to move on, she met and married the charming Mateo Ruiz but Mateo turned out to be not so charming, he was part of a cartel and Rachel faced life as a prisoner in a gilded cage, When Lucas is born, Rachel knows that she must protect him from his father who wants to raise him in the cartel.
There is a raid on the villa, Mateo is killed and Rachel is rescued from the mansion by Micah Hawthorn from the CIA.
Six years later, life has settled down for Rachel and Lucas, until the fateful day when six year old Lucas witnesses a murder, a murder carried out by Kessler, a leading figure in the dreaded, powerful Committee ............Lucas had to die.
Stryker is sent by Kane to protect Rachel and Lucas, he left her once to keep her safe, it didn't work, he would never leave her again but regaining Rachel's trust would be a hard battle.
This story follows Rachel, Lucas and Stryker as they try to stay one step ahead of the Committee, Stryker fights hard battles to keep them safe but the only place that is really safe is the base a Echo Ridge. Echo Base is full of high tech equipment and is so cleverly built into the mountains that it has never been found despite all the Committees best efforts but could it's secrecy last ?
The highly trained staff at Echo Ridge welcome Rachel and Lucas, Lucas had seen what no six year old should see, they all knew the background of Rachel and Stryker, they knew that he had never stopped loving her but could Rachel ever trust him again ? could Stryker keep his promise to keep the child that he had come to love, and to whom he had become a hero, safe ?
This story is action packed, there is suspense, there is passion, there are a few things that didn't quite add up for me but it didn't deter from my enjoyment.

Stryker is sent by Kane to protect Rachel and Lucas, he left her once to keep her safe, it didn't work, he would never leave her again but regaining Rachel's trust would be a hard battle.
This story follows Rachel, Lucas and Stryker as they try to stay one step ahead of the Committee, Stryker fights hard battles to keep them safe but the only place that is really safe is the base a Echo Ridge. Echo Base is full of high tech equipment and is so cleverly built into the mountains that it has never been found despite all the Committees best efforts but could it's secrecy last ?
The highly trained staff at Echo Ridge welcome Rachel and Lucas, Lucas had seen what no six year old should see, they all knew the background of Rachel and Stryker, they knew that he had never stopped loving her but could Rachel ever trust him again ? could Stryker keep his promise to keep the child that he had come to love, and to whom he had become a hero, safe ?
This story is action packed, there is suspense, there is passion, there are a few things that didn't quite add up for me but it didn't deter from my enjoyment.

I am quite enjoying this Echo Ridge series.
Fast paced throughout, the book keeps you invested in it's characters.
Echo Hold is Rachel Donovan and Colton Stryker's story.
And what is there not to love but a second chance romance with that hard core broody Military man.
Rachel has nothing to prove. All she wants is for her son, Lucas to live a normal life and be safe.
But when he sees a murder, by accident behind the local grocery store, all bets are off!
Having escaped one nightmare, through sheer will and determination, Rachel gives Lucas what he needs. A stable home life.
Not realising what he witnessed, when Stryker knocks on her door, she is surprised, but wants him gone and the sooner the better!
He is there to protect a 6 y.o. boy, her son. Lucas is the target of The Committee. He can identify the killer, Keller, who is relentlessly tracking him, to eliminate the threat of exposure of The Committee.
A challenging story as both Rachel and Colton still have feelings....buried deep for when they were together eight years previously. Colton walked away, thinking Rachel was safer out of his life, being the operator he was, meant she would be at risk.
Rachel doesn't make it easy for Colton to try to seek forgiveness. He broke her heart.
But when the threat comes too close and he takes her to Echo Ridge, he knows he doesn't want her to leave.
Loved the chemistry between these two and the heat is off the charts hot, as they finally come together and profess their love. A grand ending for their story as Sarah and Micah Hawthorne's story begins.
Do they eliminate the threat of The Committee. Not entirely, but they find their enemy retreating, for now.
The lone operative Reeve, is still out there, so the new addition to their team Micah Hawthorne volunteers to go and eliminate him.
This leads to a soft cliff hanger and the introduction to their story, Echo-Run.

A captivating read filled with action and subterfuge, I guarantee readers will be captivated
Stryker and Rachel are the main characters in this book they are long term elements that she has thought she had long left behind her, since she was contacted by Stryker who informed her with no dressing up of his information and the fact that her six-year-old son was under threat.
The committee is searching for Lucas in the necessary it is essential that they once again do anything to ensure that Lucas, Khalid and Odin show how protective they are for six-year-old Lucas, and is true to say that between Stryker and Khalid and Odin and Khalid who is so protective of Lucas.
The war and the battle is definitely ongoing and it is obvious right from the off that the adults in this book will do anything to ensure that both his son and Rachel are set free, and that they are both happy and healthy to be set free.
Stryker and his ex is an eye witness that he will not be compromised over, time may be running out and still he continues to ensure Lucas and Rachel are both free.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Echo Ridge series and as time is quickly running out he feels the absolute dedication he has to ensure both are set free and that they determined they will return to Echo Ridge, Rachel and Lucas will do anything to ensure their happiness and health and more importantly their freedom.

A continuation of the Echo Ridge series with Colton Stryker's story. He's tasked with protecting Rachel and her son Lucas (8) after he witnessed Kessler commit a murder. This particular mission is made complicated because he has history with Rachel. Years ago he left her with only a note. He couldn't separate the man from the mission at that point and he didn't want to put her in danger. Turns out she found plenty of danger all by herself. Her son's father is a cartel head and she was held captive for a year until a US team raided it and killed all the cartels members (the father included). She rebuilt her life, only to have him arrive and drop this bomb.
Things go from bad to worse for the trio as they make their way to a safe-house. The Committee is determined to silence Lucas by any means necessary, and Rachel will do anything to prevent that, including let Colton back into her life. Stryker is all-in on protecting Rachel and her son, and you can feel how much is on the line. Rachel is written so well — strong, emotional, and real — and the chemistry between her and Stryker? Still sizzling after all these years. Second-chance romance done RIGHT.
What really pulled me in was the constant tension. One intense moment rolls straight into the next, with a cast of characters coming together to fight corruption and keep each other alive. It never slows down, and I was fully locked in the entire time.

I love the series and Delta gives us another action packed suspense story that grabs your attention from the start and keeps you wanting more! This one is focused on Colton Stryker and Rachel Donovan who have a past relationship and are reconnected because of the danger targeting Rachel's son, Lucas.
Colton and his team are focused on protecting Lucas and Rachel from the Committee which sets up lots of action with detailed fighting scenes, plot twists and suspense as they try to remove the coordinated threats that escalate as the danger finds them at every turn.
For Colton this is a second chance for him and Rachel. Will he decide if his past decisions with Rachel are still relevant or can he have the relationship and family that he has always wanted but denied himself?

Colton Stryker once was in love with Rachel Donovan, but decided that because of his Special Ops status, was too dangerous for her… so he left a note and walked away… that was eight years before Echo Ridge. When they get notification that The Committee was after a young boy because he saw Kessler kill another man in an alley in Tucson, he went to protect them, knowing Rachel moved on and had a son Lucas… Rachel isn't same woman that Colton knew, as once he had left her, she went to work for humanitarian group in Mexico and was wooed by wealthy man who helped procure supplies for the clinic… not realizing he was part of a cartel. Mateo was killed when she was rescued, escaping back to U.S. with Lucas… so her attitude may have been skewed when Colton showed up to protect them from Committee and get them to safe house while new identities built… but Kessler worked faster than anticipated and had to find a safer position… but will Colton's strong and steady protection be enough to secure Rachel and Lucas until the boy can identify Kessler to a jury??? You will need to read this edge-of-seat thriller to see what happens. I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

I volunteered to read and review a copy of Echo Hold . This story is off the charts with suspense and intrigue . Rachel Donovan had her heart broken by Colton Stryker . Trying to move on she goes and does Aid work in rural Mexico . She finds herself taken in by Mateo who she finds out too late He is Lieutenant in the Sinloa Cartel and she's pregnant .Shes Held hostage in the hacienda . After the baby is born ( Lucas) Rachel feels there's no escape . The CIA sends Micah Hawthorne and a team in to extract Rachel and Lucas after taking the cartel down . Rachel works to build a new life for Lucas and herself unfortunately that doesn't last . When Lucas is six he witnessed a man sent by the committee killing another man . Lucas can identify the killer . Stryker is part of Echo team . He's sent to protect the very woman and her son he left behind . Stryker and Echo will definitely have their work cut out for them . This is an intense and on the edge full of action suspense romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

I struggled to get into this story because the setup for it didn’t make sense to me. Rachel’s 6-year-old son Lucas witnesses a Committee assassination. He doesn’t tell anyone, not even his mom. Somehow the Echo team finds out about it, identifies and locates Lucas to come and rescue him and Rachel before the Committee (with all their infinite resources) is able to identify and locate Lucas to eliminate him. We aren’t given any background on how the Echo team finds out about Lucas and the whole setup seemed totally implausible to me. If you can overlook that, the story is pretty good. There is a nice second chance romance since Stryker walked away from his relationship with Rachel in the past. There is lots of action and suspense, although there is a lot of repetition of the same lines throughout the story which was a bit annoying for me.

This is another book in the Echo Ridge series. The series is centered on the fortified defense system buried in Echo Mountain in Montana, a bit like the Cheyenne Mountain complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado. With each book in the series I gain a better mental picture of the complex. In this particular book a young boy slips away from his mother and sees a murder. Lucas becomes a target for extermination because his witness could reveal a bunch of bad guys working with the government.
Eventually, Lucas and his mother are moved into the Echo Ridge complex for his safety. There's some romance, a lot of the "family" that forms in the underground bunker, and a goodly bit of warfare to protect both Lucas and the hidden existence of Echo Ridge.
Fast paced. The charming boy, a teenager rescued from the Middle East conflicts, and a dog add to the humaness of the book.
