The Mountain Man's Rescuing Instinct: Ex-Firefighters. Curve Worship. High Heat.

Rate this book
She slid into a mountain ditch during a storm. I let the town think she was mine, and decided not to give her back.

Ewen

I left the firehouse because saving everyone cost too much. Now I watch the mountain instead. The roads. The storms.
When an overworked corporate manager crashes into a ditch outside my garage, I do what comes naturally. I take over.

Cleo Fleming is sharp, capable, and carrying more than she lets on. The second I wrap her in my jacket, I see The burnout. The strain. The way she’s been holding everything together alone.

The town assumes she’s mine. Fake dating becomes the easiest way to protect her reputation. Then the storm traps her in my cabin. The power goes out. The walls come down.

She came here to finish a project and leave. I’m going to give her space to breathe. And while my hands ground her and my body worships her curves, I decide she’s not walking back into a life that’s breaking her.

Cleo

I had a Finish the project. Keep my head down. Don’t need anything from anyone.
Crashing my car wasn’t part of it. Neither was Ewen Freed.

He pulls me out of the ditch like it’s nothing. He fixes my car. Handles the logistics. Takes over before I have to ask. He’s steady, silent, and competent in a way that makes my shoulders finally drop.

Pretending we’re together feels easier than correcting the town gossips. Until the storm traps us. Until there’s only one bed.

He sees the exhaustion I’ve been hiding. The pressure I never put down. When he says I’m not leaving his mountain, his cabin, or his life, I realize I don’t want to.

I Came for a Rescue… Stayed for the Possession 😮‍💨

I have thoughts. None of them is stable. And somehow Tiffany Bloom made it feel like home. 🫠

There’s something suspiciously addictive about "The Mountain Man’s Rescuing Instinct" by Tiffany Bloom... like blink, and suddenly I’m emotionally attached to a man who fixes problems without asking—yeah, apparently that’s my type now. Cool. Love that for me!

This is Book 3 in the Granitehart Ridge Guardians series, and it fully understands the assignment. It doesn’t scream for your attention—it claims it. Quietly, confidently. Like Ewen himself. And that’s why it hits so hard. Contemporary romance, mountain isolation, rescue-core fantasy—stripped of chaos, soaked in something far more intimate. The tone? Warm, steady, quietly intense. It’s not about the storm outside—it’s about the storm inside her… and the man refusing to let her face it alone.

And Ewen? Oh, he’s the dangerously calm type. The guy who sees you spiraling, hands you coffee, fixes the problem, then casually stands there like “obviously I was going to take care of you.” Sir??? That level of competence should come with a warning label. Somehow, it should set off red flags—but instead it feels like exhaling for the first time in years. 🚩➡️💚 And that right there? That’s the hook—the razor-thin, intoxicating line between care and control.

Cleo? She’s not just stressed—she’s one email away from a full system shutdown. Running on caffeine, anxiety, and stubborn willpower. Corporate burnout wrapped in designer determination. She’s holding it together with pure spite—and then she crashes—literally—into a man who looks at her like he already knows she’s breaking, and has already decided he won’t let that happen. Ewen quietly dismantles her armor, piece by piece.

The chemistry? It’s not explosive—it’s worse. It simmers, then lingers, builds with every shared glance, every quiet touch, every little gesture he makes before she even realizes she needs it. Forced proximity hits hard—storm-trapped, one bed, nowhere to escape—and the tension doesn’t just rise; it tightens. Each chapter peels back another layer, slipping boundaries away.

And emotionally? It hurts—slow, aching, and real. Not in a heart-wrenching way, but in that slow, tearing realization that Cleo doesn’t know how to stop performing… and Ewen sees right through it. He doesn’t want the polished version; he wants the real, exhausted, complicated, too-much version she’s been hiding. Watching her crumble into that acceptance? Phew!

Their dynamic is soft dominance meets exhausted surrender. And WOW, that sneaked up on me 😵‍💫. He doesn’t push—he just is. Steady. Certain. Unshakably there. And she resists out of habit, not because she wants to. The tension isn’t “will they fall”—it’s how long she can pretend she doesn’t want to stay where he’s placed her. The tension from that alone nearly took me out. 😮‍💨

The pacing keeps you hooked—short chapters, no wasted time. Each scene escalates something—emotion, intimacy, vulnerability. Not just physical but emotional exposure. The kind that makes you shift in your seat because wow, that hit too close. You’re either melting or spiraling. Sometimes both. Also, the banter? Chef’s kiss.

The setting? Granitehart Ridge delivers. Isolated, stormy, wrapped in small-town energy where everyone already assumes they belong—before they even admit it. The cabin becomes a pressure chamber of vulnerability—no distractions, no escape—just truth, tension, and too much proximity.

Let’s talk about the line this book walks. Because Ewen is taking charge? Making decisions for her? Acting like he knows best? It could go wrong. But here? It doesn’t. It works. And that’s the unsettling part—because it makes you ask: when does protection turn into possession… and what happens if you don’t want to fight it? 👀

What surprised me most? The audacity of this book to emotionally kidnap me by a quiet, competent mountain man fixing problems like it's foreplay. 😌🔥 Sir??? Handling life, taking charge, fixing everything like it’s nothing?? Disrespectful—in the best way. I devoured it!

It’s steamy but not reckless. The heat is tied to trust, emotional exposure, that quiet power dynamic that never crosses lines but walks right to the edge—confident, possessive, grounded—devotion with teeth.

By the end, you’re not wrecked—you’re full. Warm, a little dazed—like watching someone finally stop fighting themselves, finally surrendering.

And here’s the truth: the real danger isn’t the storm or the isolation or even the man who refuses to let her fall—it’s how quickly she realizes she doesn’t want to be rescued— she wants to be kept. 😮‍💨

You’re not ready for how quietly addictive this is. If you love mountain men who fall fast, fall hard, and see your problems as their own… this book will ruin you in the coziest way possible. 💖 Consider my life officially stolen by Granitehart Ridge, and I’m not fighting it.

The Mountain Man’s Rescuing Instinct by Tiffany Bloom is a warm, swoony mountain romance that perfectly blends emotional healing, quiet devotion, and a hero whose love language is simply taking care of the woman he can’t stop thinking about. With cozy cabin vibes, forced proximity, and a protective hero who falls fast and hard, this story is the kind of romance that feels like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket during a winter storm.

Cleo Fleming never planned to crash her car on a wet mountain road.

Overworked, overwhelmed, and running on nothing but determination and caffeine, she’s trying to push through one last project before returning to her high-pressure corporate life. But when her car slides into a ditch during a storm, her carefully controlled world suddenly stops.

Luckily—or maybe fatefully—the nearest place she can walk to is Ewen Freed’s garage.

Ewen used to be a firefighter, the kind of man who made a career out of saving people. But after years of giving too much of himself, and one call that lead to two of his crew dying, he stepped away from the firehouse and now keeps watch over the mountain instead—its roads, its storms, and the people who sometimes need help finding their way through both.

When Cleo walks into his garage, shaken and exhausted, Ewen’s rescuing instinct immediately kicks in.

What begins as simple help—fixing her car, offering dry clothes, and giving her a place to stay during the storm—quickly turns into something deeper. Ewen is the kind of hero who doesn’t need grand gestures to show how he feels. His devotion appears in quiet actions—fixing problems before Cleo even realizes they exist, creating space for her to breathe, and seeing through the strong front she’s spent years maintaining. He recognizes the burnout and loneliness she’s been carrying, and instead of trying to change her, he simply supports her.

Cleo’s journey is just as powerful. She’s spent so long holding everything together on her own that letting someone help feels unfamiliar—and a little terrifying. But with Ewen’s steady presence beside her, she slowly begins to realize that strength doesn’t always mean doing everything alone.

Their chemistry builds naturally through shared space, quiet conversations, and small acts of care that gradually break down the walls they’ve both built.

If you love protective mountain men, fake dating, storm-trapped cabins, curvy heroines, quiet devotion, and heroes who show love through actions instead of words, The Mountain Man’s Rescuing Instinct is a deeply satisfying romance that delivers both heart and heat.

Because sometimes the person who rescues you from the storm…
is the one who shows you where home truly is.

If you love your romance heroes rugged, protective, and just a little bit damaged, "The Mountain Man’s Rescuing Instinct" by Tiffany Bloom is absolutely your next binge read. This book delivers all the feels, kicking off with a dramatic storm and a heroine in real need of saving. Cleo, burnt out and exhausted, crashes her car outside Ewen’s garage, and right away you know you’re in for a swoony, heartfelt ride. Ewen, a former firefighter turned mountain guardian and mechanic, steps in and doesn’t hesitate to take care of her—body, soul, and car.

The chemistry between Cleo and Ewen sparkles on the page. Cleo is sharp, capable, and carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, but Ewen sees right through the mask. He’s steady and competent, the kind of guy who handles everything before she even has to ask. There’s something so comforting about his presence—he’s the hero you wish you had during tough times. The story really shines in the way it explores burnout and the need for someone to step in and say, “I’ve got you.”

What sets this book apart is its blend of steamy romance and genuine emotion. The storm traps Cleo and Ewen together, leading to some seriously swoon-worthy moments (yes, there’s only one bed!). The town assumes they’re a couple, and neither of them feels the need to correct that. Watching Cleo let go, lean on Ewen, and realize she doesn’t want to leave is both heartwarming and addictive. The instalove and instant obsession feel authentic, and the writing makes it easy to get swept up in their story.

This book is safe, steamy, and perfect for when you need a satisfying escape. The happily-ever-after is seriously fulfilling, and the “open door” scenes are equal parts sweet and spicy. If you’re craving real emotions, authentic characters, and a love story that sticks with you, "The Mountain Man’s Rescuing Instinct" is a must-read. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a little mountain magic and a lot of heart.

This is an insta-romance for those needing a quick read without a lot of angst. It revolves around a high-strung businesswoman, Cleo, and Ewen, an ex-firefighter turned mountain rescuer. Cleo ends up in a ditch on the side of a mountain during a winter storm and walks to the closest location that she can find. Luckily, it just happens to be Ewen’s garage, and he is more than happy to help her out. He offers her warm, dry clothes and a place to stay until he can tow her vehicle and see what needs to be repaired. She is a little freaked out and panicking over the fact that communications are down and that she might fail at her job, but she takes Ewen up on his offer and settles in for the duration of the storm. The two get to know each other and realise that they both have some emotional baggage, but that’s what makes them human and gives them something to help each other out with.
It was enjoyable to see these two work through their demons and figure out how to move forward. I could do without the gratuitous sex scenes, but I know that’s what a lot of others enjoy, so it’s not a deal breaker for me.

The Mountain Man's Rescuing Instinct by Tiffany Bloom is the third title in the Granitehart Ridge Guardians series and it was a great read.
As a mountain man, small town, forced proximity, instalove romance it had me hooked from the start with it's engaging main characters, Ewen and Cleo.
Cleo, a tightly wound business woman lands her car in a ditch during a storm - luckily near a garage owned by Ewen, ex firefighter, now mountain rescuer.
The storm washes out roads and communications and Cleo is stuck staying with Ewen. They both feel a connection and sparks fly but both doubt the lasting potential of a relationship as they each carry insecurities from their past and previous experiences.
This sweet, low-angst, steamy, story packs in tropes such as protective hero, found family, forced proximity, acts of service devotion, cinnamon-roll alpha, overworked heroine and public claiming which all contributed to an addictive read. Their chemistry sizzled and with the well paced storyline, heartfelt moments, and steam and spice, their HEA was satisfying.

Cleo Fleming is an overworked corporate manager that crashes one stormy night into a ditch right outside Ewen Freed's garage. She is sharp, very capable, strong but carrying more than she lets on. Ewen sees that and more when he sees her. The snow storm and her car needing to be repaired traps them at his cabin where things between them slowly turn into something more. Will Cleo be able to see that Ewen is trying to give her a place to land a place to exist that is safe and a place where she is wanted?
I absolutely loved this one just as much as I loved the other ones in this series. A protective ex firefighter turned guardian a heroine who is overworked burned out and needs to be seen. A praise heavy worship side that is easily written in that you hardly notice it at all. Tiffany writes all of these storylines amazingly. I enjoyed each and every one. I have to say this one is probably my favorite.

This was a heartfelt story about an overachiever curvy girl who has been told she is too much and a mountain man who sees her for who she really is.

Cleo is on her way to a resort at a mountain, when she has an accident and lands in a ditch. Ewen comes to her rescue, and takes her to his cabin, while he finds pieces to repair her car. Her apprehension, low self steam, and need to prove her worth made her fear and doubt her word. Here is where Ewen comes in, he is insta attracted to her, and realizes that her fears are ill founded. She in turn makes him realize that his guilt and pain are causing his isolation. Close proximity make their attraction palpable, but he wants to keep her, while she is not ready to give up. As he opens her shell even further, the feelings start to bloom, and the passion takes over. However, when her work calls her away, he will have to fight for her, and she will have to give into the chance of being cherished.

A great and steamy love story.

Ewen and Cleo met when her car crashed into a ditch outside his garage and he came to help. Cleo has problems feeling like she is disposable and is only valuable when she is successful. Ewen felt guilty when he couldn’t save some of his men during a fire and lives with the guilt. When he offers his garage as a place to stay, the attraction begins. As they spend time together, she realizes she doesn’t have to do everything on her own and he just wants to support her. Ewen wants her to stay and she comes to realize that this is home. Can they make a go of it and have a HEA?

A fast paced story that doesn't feel rushed. Ewen and Chleo focus on different priorities in life. However, they have both isolated themselves emotionally just to exist. His past keeps a hold of him, though he finds reviving her spirit also fills his emotional void. She associates productivity with worth. She's about to learn what happens when everything powers down.
While I enjoyed the story, Chloe's inconsistency grated on me, as did the assumption he was useless (if she wasn't sponging up his coddling that is). Sorry... I did say she grated on me.🤷🏼‍♀️.

The Mountain Man's Rescuing Instinct is Book 4 of Granitehart Ridge Guardians. I haven't read all of them, but I can say that books in these series are emotional and touching. The same I can say about this one.
I loved both main characters and their vulnerability. Cleo just needed one who assure her that she is not too much, that she doesn't need apologize for existing.
And they both were there for seeing, saving and protecting each other. Reassuring that they are sufficient and good.
Beautiful, emotional and steamy short read to enjoy in one go. There will be no time or wish to put it down.

Book 4 of the Granitehart Ridge Guardians series. Can be read as a standalone.

'He sees the exhaustion I’ve been hiding. The pressure I never put down. When he says I’m not leaving his mountain, his cabin, or his life, I realize I don’t want to.'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building continues to impress and be solidly drawn. Another great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

When Chloe ended up with her car in the ditch, she didn't expect him to be the one to save her. She has been told she is too much and feels like she is only as good as her next success. He shows her otherwise.

Ewen knows almost instantly that she was sent for him. Chloe fits with him like nobody ever has. He didn't know that he would ever be able to get past his past and love again. Ewen thinks he is too intense for anyone to want to stay with him. He wants to keep her forever, but what will she choose?.

Cleo's car hits the ditch during a rain storm preventing her from getting to a meeting at a nearby resort. She walks through the downpour heading towards a light up ahead and realizes that ironically ,it's a garage and towing business. Ewen discovers a soaked Cleo outside his garage and invites her to stay since the roads are hazardous and her car isn't moving before morning. Cell service is almost non-existent so she's truly stuck there. Conversations feel easy and a closeness grows, but can it survive reality when the world comes calling?

She crached her truck in the ditch in a rain storm. She was able to stay with him.safe and warm. Forced proximity forces her to relax and gather her nerves and self together before her shoulders jump back up to her ears. Three days and they are close and working in sync. That crazy knowing question of are they enough makes doubt inevitable. Love the bantering, closeness and realistic interactions. Good read.

Rescuers sometimes need rescued.
Fantastic. Cleo and her car land in a ditch outside his garage. She doesn’t expect him to help her JUST BECAUSE he can. But, that’s exactly what happens. Ewen sees that she’s constantly PREFORMING to make herself useful. He intends to prove to her that she is enough just by existing and break her of the habit of apologizing for just breathing. He wants her to stay, he’s choosing Cleo. Will she choose him back?

Sometimes you just need to be seen

The Mountain Man's Rescuing Instinct is the third book in the Granitehart Ridge Guardians series by Tiffany Bloom. This story about Cleo Fleming and Ewen Freed is sweet, spicy, swoony, and a bit naughty. The short version of the story is she crashes her car, he tows it for her, he takes her to his place during the storm where he starts to notice all the little and big things about the lovely Cleo. By the time the storm is over these two are tied up together. This was an entertaining and lovely read.
