The Amatherean Tales #3

Tailor on the Roof: An Isekai LitRPG

Rate this book
An accountant-turned-assassin must determine if the books still balance when a bounty is placed on her own head in the third book of this fantasy series.

Asterfal is a city of staggering high glamour and abject destitution, corrupt politicians and an exploited working class, ostentatious greed and quiet suffering. SJ arrives set to be inaugurated into the city’s council as the ambassador of Killic. But she quickly earns a reputation as a benevolent figure and enemy to debauchery and abuse, drawing attention from unsavoury characters and bad actors willing to do anything to maintain control of Asterfal’s streets.

This attention comes in the form of multiple assassination attempts on SJ’s life by the city’s criminal elite. And while she endeavours to avoid being the primary target on their hit list, her travelling companion Cristy discovers her uncle Lurtew has been abducted. Along with SJ’s driver, Jay, they infiltrate the world of criminals and unscrupulous officials, tracking Lurtew to a brutal underground fighting ring where they must negotiate with treacherous foes for his freedom.

As if all that weren’t enough, chaos ensues when a secret plot is born from an alliance between fae and dark elves, and a host of manipulated financial records is uncovered. Now, SJ will need to harness tools from both of her lives—the accountant’s eye for a false ledger and the assassin’s skill with a blade—to survive. It seems the fate of the city depends on her balancing the deadliest books of all . . .

The third volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with more than 500,000 views on Royal Road—now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook!

What an experience!

I have to say that this was my favorite of the three books (mind you, that I loved all of them! ) I think this book series has quickly became my favorite of the genre. I love Killic, it has become one of my favorite settings, but Astarfal was really a fun location. I loved this book from start to finish.

Sj and Dave are the best duo you can ask for! I love their friendship, humor, and bickering. I loved all the side characters in all three books.

I want to say that this book really established Sj as a force for positive chaos, a warrior of justice. This book expanded the lore, now I want a book where Sj explores more of Amathera.

Thank you for this fun series

What a great read!

Excellent book! SJ is such a great character, not overpowered, slowly learning about the world about her. And Dave, the almost-all-knowing, great development of the supporting AI. Just sad that I have to wait for the next book, but looking forward to it..

Sands kudos to the editing team - my pet peeve with many of these books is how some of them are poorly edited to.make reading them cringe worthy. Nothing like this here, and fun to see some of the English idioms.

A brilliant addition to the series

This series has quickly risen to be one of my favourite among the genre. I love SJ's character and her witty banter with Dave. A lot of side characters also stand out, such as Jay or Carlito. Even the chancellor who we barely knew anything about previously comes in to a light of his own.

Really enjoyed this one. SJ continues to be such a great character, I love the mix of her accountant brain and assassin skills, it makes for a really fun and clever read.

The world of Asterfal feels rich and full of tension, and I was fully pulled into all the twists, especially the political intrigue and underground elements.

A great continuation of the series, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.
