Forced to marry the Russian crime lord, her world is changed forever. HayleyWhen my dad took his own life in an attempt to clear his debt with the Russian mafia to protect myself and my mom, it broke my heart. Now the crime lord is calling in what he's owed with a marriage proposal that's sure to change my world forever. It's my turn to make a sacrifice for my family and getting justice for my dad is my number one priority.
You know what they say about keeping your enemies close, but my husband's intoxicating proximity is throwing me through a loop. Is he really the villain I thought he was?
The truth doesn't always set you free. NikolaiI made a promise to her father before he died, and I'll do everything in my power to protect my new wife. Even from herself, if I have to.
Her smart mouth and bratty behavior doesn't deter me. I own this world, but I'd gladly burn it to the ground for her. My beautiful little thunderstorm.
I don't care if she hates me for the rest of her life, she needs to know the truth, and now that I've got her, I'm not letting her go.
“This book had me hooked! The forced marriage trope is done so right. Angsty, messy, and full of power struggles, but with real emotion underneath it all.” - Amazon Reviewer
“This did not fit your typical Mafia romance book. I will be highly recommending this book to those who want to give the Mafia world a shot. It’s amazing.” - Amazon Reviewer

“If you love a dark romance where the hero is possessive, the heroine is a "bratty" fighter who loves her Converse no matter what she is wearing, and the secrets are as dangerous as the men who keep them, The Pakhan’s Claim is a must-add to your 2025 TBR list” - Goodreads Reviewer
I really enjoyed this one. It's a mafia romance that focuses more on the romance than the mafia part which I wished it went a little more into detail on. I did love the romance aspect to this story though. Nikolai wasn't meant to be the big bad brooding mafia boss the whole story and constantly showed Haley so much love and affection early in their relationship and she eventually grew to feel the same way. This is one I definitely recommend giving a try!
I really enjoyed the slow-burn tension in this book, especially how it kept me invested in the subtle, intimate moments between the main characters. Mafia romance isn’t typically a genre I gravitate towards, but this novel may have completely changed my perspective. The plot was thoughtfully constructed, with several twists that genuinely caught me off guard. I would highly recommend this book, and I’m excited to see how Sammy Fyfe continues to grow and develop in her writing career.
This is a reasonably quick mafia read. It has an engaging story, and some character development. A little shallow in parts, being a romance I was hoping for more of a declaration , the build up was there but it just sort of didn't go off the way my brain expected. There is vague mention of their age gap, but it is not heavily played on. All and all a solid little read.
Overall it was a good book. The only plothole that annoyed me a little, was all this drama over only 50K. It had made so much more sense if Nikolai had paid the money owed to Grigoryan, and that way transfer the debt to himself.
I liked our FMC Harley, she was well described and easy to understand her reasoning behind.
I loved this book. This did not fit your typical Mafia romance book. I will be highly recommending this book to those who want to give the Mafia world a shot. It's amazing. I can't say to much or I risk spoiling.
An addictive, fast-paced read that hooks you from the very start and delivers exactly where it promises. The storyline is engaging and well-driven, pulling you deeper as it unfolds, while the intensity and spice add a bold edge that sets it apart from typical reads. Easy to get lost in and hard to put down, this is a highly enjoyable dark romance that I’d definitely recommend.
The Pakhan’s Claim is an intense, emotionally charged dive into the world of the Russian Bratva. Sammy Fyfe delivers a powerhouse performance in this forced-marriage romance that is as much about uncovering the truth as it is about losing one's heart.
The story follows Hayley, a woman whose world is shattered by her father’s tragic death. To protect her mother and settle a crushing debt, she enters a marriage of convenience with the formidable Nikolai, a Russian crime lord. Hayley is driven by a singular mission: justice for her father. But as she gets closer to Nikolai, the line between "enemy" and "protector" begins to blur.
I love novels that have a dual perspective. Getting inside both Hayley’s and Nikolai’s heads is essential here. You feel Hayley’s righteous fury and Nikolai’s fierce, protective obsession.
Nikolai isn't just a villain; he’s a man bound by a promise. His internal vow to protect Hayley—even from herself—adds a layer of depth that elevates him above the standard "dark hero."
This isn't just about physical attraction. It’s about the "beautiful little thunderstorm" (Hayley) finding her footing in a world of shadows, and the Pakhan who would "burn the world to the ground" for her.
If you love a dark romance where the hero is possessive, the heroine is a "bratty" fighter who loves her Converse no matter what she is wearing, and the secrets are as dangerous as the men who keep them, The Pakhan’s Claim is a must-add to your 2025 TBR list. It’s a story of sacrifice, justice, and a love that burns hot enough to light up the dark.
My favorite quotes:
““I own this world, and I’ll do everything in my power to protect you. Even from yourself, if necessary. You’re safe with me.” He takes my hand and presses it gently to his lips.” - Nikolai
“I lift my hand and brush the back of my fingers along her cheek. She looks so delicate and pure, her skin soft and flawless where it meets the ink covering my hands.” - Nikolai
“I want to know everything about this beautiful contradiction of a woman, this storm wrapped in silk. Not knowing what she truly thinks of me is an itch beneath my skin that I can’t scratch. It gnaws at me in the quiet moments, driving me slowly insane. She’s a craving I can’t silence. And I can't get enough of punishing myself by being around her.” - Nikolai
“I want her to be comfortable, always, and if that means she wears sneakers to a black- tie event, then so be it.” - Nikolai
“I know I made a deal with the devil when I married him, but there’s a part of me that thrills at the chance to dance in the shadows with Satan himself.” - Hayley
“Is this what love is? Relentless obsession over another person? Someone you can’t help but find your thoughts drawn to during the day, and your body craving in the middle of the night.” - Hayley
The Pakhan’s Claim by Sammy Fyfe Pages-255 kindle edition 4/5⭐️
This was such a good short and spicy read! Love how descriptive it is written, it really makes you feel like you’re apart of the story. You have to like the characters. Hayley is stubborn, brave and has good taste in music lol. Nikolai is morally gray, a powerful leader and very protective. Also love the nickname “little thunderstorm” 🖤 The side characters are even lovable, Viktor the chef is a drama queen 😂 love him. If you like arranged marriage, age gap, mafia, enemies to lovers tropes. And are looking for a good short read maybe even between books I recommend giving this one a try!
Quotes: “I own this world, and I’ll do everything in my power to protect you. Even from yourself, if necessary. You’re safe with me.”
“You know I would never lie to you, lyubimaya moya. And I will always choose you.”
“I know I made a deal with the devil when I married him, but there’s a part of me that thrills at the chance to dance in the shadows with Satan himself.”
“Sometimes people have to do bad things in order to better their lives, but that doesn’t always make them bad people. Love is rarely uncomplicated.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book had me HOOKED. The writing is so vivid and immersive that it genuinely feels like you’re there. Every room, every look, every tense moment plays out in your head like a movie.
Hayley is everything. Fierce, emotional, stubborn, and brave in a way that makes you instantly root for her. I didn’t just like her, I wanted to be her. Thrown into a dangerous mafia world and still holding her ground? Iconic.
The tension is unreal. The MMC is cold, powerful, and morally gray in the best way, and every interaction between them is loaded with heat, attitude, and slow-burn intensity. The forced marriage trope is done so right. Angsty, messy, and full of power struggles, but with real emotion underneath it all.
What really stands out is Sammys descriptions. The atmosphere is dark and moody, the settings feel real, and the emotions hit hard. This book completely pulls you out of the real world and drops you straight into theirs.
For a debut, this is seriously impressive. If you love mafia dark romance, strong heroines, enemies-to-lovers energy, and books that make you forget where you are, this is a must-read.
I was excited to read this, and I really wanted to love it! What I enjoyed was the basis of the plot, and her strength and take no crap. I also loved his patience with her, how he loves her spicy "veliciraptor personality" and sees her so completely; not to mention his ruthless protectiveness, honesty, and warm joking humour.
What I didn't love, is that there are multiple duplicated paragraphs, typos, and seemingly a few missing words. There are also a number of glaring plot and factual errors (nobody can bend like that, for example, and in one of the spicy scenes he would need to have three hands to pull off what he did. There were no real declarations of their big feelings in the end, there were other points in the story where there was little to no transition from scene to scene, character mood, or plot to plot. All in all, it was difficult to read.
The author had a great concept for this book, so I hope that there will be consideration to pursue development of abilities in creative writing to improve and build a great world for readers to engage and get lost in. Until such a time, this author will be on my dnr list.
