LOLA

The only thing worse than embarrassing yourself in front of a hot guy in an elevator?
Finding out he’s your new boss.
And just when I think it can’t get worse… it does.

Enzo isn’t just my new boss—he’s someone from my past.
The son of the man who destroyed my father’s life.
I should hate him. I want to hate him.
But my stupid heart won’t cooperate, and my brain keeps replaying one disastrous elevator encounter on a loop.

At least I have Mr. Wrong Number.
It started with an accidental text months ago,
then turned into late-night conversations, inside jokes, comfort I didn’t expect.
He’s the distraction I need.
The escape I cling to.
Anything to forget Enzo Romano for a while.

ENZO
Lola thinks it’s a coincidence I’m back in her life,
but I’ve never left.

I’ve been watching her, protecting her, obsessing over her for years.
Every step she’s taken, every choice she’s made…
I’ve been there in the shadows.

Even the mystery guy she’s been texting?
Yeah. That’s me.
She’d kill me if she knew.

Just like she’d kill me if she understood how deeply I’ve carved myself into her world,
how far I’ve gone to keep her safe.
Because danger is circling her again—
and I’m the only one ruthless enough to stop it.

I’ll burn the world before I let anything touch her.
I’ll do whatever it takes.
Even if it destroys me.

Sweetly Obsessed is Book 1 of Enzo and Lola’s story in the Devoted in the Darkness Duet Two—delivering a stalker-obsessed MMC, a forbidden romance born from shared betrayal, and the dangerously addictive pull of a man who’s been in her shadow for years. Their story continues in Beautifully Twisted.
While this duet is part of the Devoted in the Darkness world, you don’t need to read the first duet—Enzo and Lola’s arc is complete and self-contained.

Arc copy received— I will not be finishing this book or series, and I will not be reading this author. As part of the indie author community myself, this book along with how often this “author” has published titles (one a month for the last nearly three years) I’m confident enough to say there is AI involved . To what extent I don’t know, but I will not support this.

I have talked to / worked with many MANY indie authors, editors, and publishers and there is no possible way to produce this amount in this little time and the manuscript still be riddled with improper grammar, spelling errors, plot jumps, random words that don’t fit, and repetitive phrasing.

I got this as an ARC. Which thank you! However, it just was not my cup of tea. I personally wasnt gripped by anything and it just didn't grab my attention the way I wanted it to. I might try it again at some point but in this particular moment this one isn't for me. 🖤

I read this as an ARC and unfortunately I did prefer the authors last 2 books. I did enjoy some parts of the book but otherwise felt a bit repetitive to the previous books and there wasn’t really anything that got me hooked.

✨ARC READ- STREET TEAM ✨

This wasn’t just dark romance… this was obsession wrapped in tension, secrets, and that constant feeling that something isn’t quite right 👀

The MMC? Completely unhinged in the best way. He is ALL the red flags 🚩 and I am here for it!

Morally grey, obsessive, and very much giving touch her and ☠️.
There’s something about him that keeps you hooked—even when you know you probably shouldn’t be 😮‍🔥

The connection starts so simply… a wrong number. (Or was it? 👀)
But it doesn’t stay simple for long…

There’s this underlying tension throughout the whole book—like you’re waiting for the moment everything shifts…

Its bathed in secrets and betrayal- Who can the FMC trust or believe??

It’s toxic. It’s addictive. It’s one of those reads where you know it’s messy, but you physically can’t stop turning the pages.🫠

Sweetly Obsessed leaves you on a cliffhanger- just dangling you right off the edge…

✨Three page TW 🩶

Tropes:

* Obsessive MMC 🖤
* Morally grey / unhinged hero 😈
* Stalker vibes / watching from the shadows 👀

* Dark romance / toxic love 🖤

🎙Narrated By: Zoe Black & James Cassidy 🎙

This is the first I have listened to Zoe Black and I absolutely loved her voice in this storyline! James truly gave this book sooo much grit with his voice! And made some lady parts quiver all the way through! I am so excited to see what they voice next!

✨️📖 On To The Book Review 📖✨️

This book was something so much more than I was expecting! In the most delicious way, Cade and Violet truly ran the gambit to be my favorite couple!

I loved their banter, the secrecy between them and how attentive he was to her. He may have had an obsession with her but for good reason! This girl somehow outside of her control always found herself in the scenarios that no one would want to be in with their boss. The perverted guy was more than disgusting and he refused to back away from her until Cade came in for the rescue!

Cade truly had an obsession with Violet but this is when a girl is thrilled she has a stalker! Violet and Cade couldn't deny the attraction to each other after seeing each other whenever it aligned. Fortunately, Cade was there to save the day on several occasions!

I truly felt for Violet because she was put in impossible situations that were unfortunate. I could just feel her pain through the pages and the voices that told her story. Cade may have been obsessive but I was sooo glad that he was!

I was an ARC reader for this book and WOW… this was JUICY. Like genuinely the definition of a slow burn done right.

This book had so many moving pieces happening at once and it kept me completely locked in the entire time. The tension, the drama, the obsession, the comedy mixed in with all the chaos… it was honestly such an entertaining read.

Enzo being both the MMC and the mystery wrong number text guy had me STRESSED in the best way because the entire time you are just waiting for everything to completely blow up in his face. Every interaction had me sitting there like “there is NO way he keeps getting away with this.” And somehow that made the book even more addictive because you just keep waiting for the moment the truth comes out.

And honestly?? The way the author handled that whole dynamic was so interesting. It gave such a different perspective on the stalker trope because he is literally trying to balance being two different people in her life at the same time while also obsessively protecting her behind the scenes. It created this constant tension throughout the entire story that kept me hooked.

The chemistry between Lola and Enzo was SO good too. The banter, the tension, the emotional pull between them… chef’s kiss. The slow burn actually burned and when things finally started unfolding between them it was spicy in the best possible way.

I also loved that this book was not just romance. There was drama, secrets, emotional moments, humor, suspense… it really kept the story feeling layered and interesting the whole way through.

And THAT ENDING?? Absolutely criminal. Total cliffhanger energy that immediately makes you need the next book because there is no way you can stop there.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I was invested in the characters, the plot, the tension, all of it. If you love obsessive MMCs, secret identities, slow burn tension, and books that keep you stressed and entertained at the same time… definitely pick this one up.

I received an early ARC copy of this from the author but my opinion is my own.

Sweetly Obsessed is book three in the Devoted in Darkness Duet and the first part of Lola and Enzo’s story. You can read it as a standalone, but having books one and two under your belt definitely helps you understand Cade — Enzo’s workmate — on a deeper level.

Lola and Enzo grew up together as the children of Mafia men, bonded by childhood and then separated by a fallout that pushed them apart. Fate, luck, and a little bit of Enzo’s trademark stalking bring them crashing back into each other’s lives.

A wrong‑number text from “Alex” sparks Lola’s adventurous side, leading to flirty messages and eventually a spicy meet‑up. What she doesn’t know — but we do — is that Alex is actually Enzo. He hides his identity, which opens the door to plenty of kinks, tension, and a handful of triggers, so definitely check the warnings.

Lola’s self‑worth has taken a hit since her father’s death, and she’s been fighting to survive without realising someone dangerous has their eyes on her. Enter Enzo — her childhood crush — who has been protecting her from the shadows long before she knew she needed it.

There’s drama, heat, emotional pull, and of course, a cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the next instalment. The spice is present and adds to the story, but it never overtakes the plot.

I adored Cade and Violet’s journey in books one and two, and seeing Enzo — the notorious “player” — finally take centre stage was such a treat.

If you love childhood crushes, workplace dynamics, mafia romance, protective men, or even a touch of obsessive stalking, this book delivers it all.

Another addictive, exciting read from Kira Cole. I didn’t want to put it down. Five stars

I just may be OBSESSED.

The way this is written, I have not quite found this effect by any other author or book.. as if the reader is immersed so much so or vicariously living through the character as I swear I felt the excitement and as if I could be the one to be subjected to the content that is divulged in this book/story! Maybe better said as reader is immersed experiencing the story as if the reader was the character? I am not sure if it was just me who connected in this way..

This story quickly held it's grip upon me. It was sweet, had hilarious moments where I laughed out loud and was 'tickled' --edge of my seat but kicking my feet--like YES! I found the premise to be very intriguing and it was just so deliciously naughty!

I feel the author captured the innocence of the FMC in a realistic way paired with the openness/readiness attitude that she was developed to be. Believable.

This author was great at setting it up with impeccable comedic timing within the book.. that which I haven't seen thus far in literature, and the first one was like experiencing comedic whiplash!

I loved everything about this story.. though that ending--- I need to read the 2nd half of the duology!! I am so very grateful in receiving this book in advance to read, and am looking forward to reading the continuation of this story. I very much intend to have this on my bookshelf as one of my greatest reads. I love when great works of art and creativity are found that simply just blow my mind and drive me a little bit crazy.. or should I say, have me Sweetly Obsessed!

⭐️⭐️
I struggled to get into this book. The author said the first duology wasn’t required, but I constantly felt like I was missing context. I still don’t really understand what the Syndicate does, and the repeated Cancun references clearly felt like inside jokes from earlier books.

The story follows Lourdes, who goes by the name Lola, who tries to stay invisible after her mafia-connected father dies by suicide. She finally lands a job using her nickname and has a flirty, anonymous texting relationship with “Wrong Number.” They don’t exchange names until halfway through. Enzo, the MMC, buys the company she works for and promotes her to be his assistant. The book alternates between their POVs.

Lola was the only character I genuinely liked. She’s the only one not doing something shady, while Enzo comes off as self-absorbed.

I didn’t feel invested until the last two chapters. The pacing is steady, but the beginning is repetitive, especially with Lola constantly wondering if Enzo is there to “finish her off.” Some references also felt oddly dated for characters in their mid 20s. Lola uses the word ‘heel’ to describe herself as selfish. I had to look it up, it is a slang word from the 1920s–50s. A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference with no setup? I’m in my mid-thirties, and even I felt out of the loop at times.

Maybe it was bad advice that it wasn’t necessary to read the first two books. Perhaps I would have had a different experience. Overall, it was just okay. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This duet was incredible! I'd even venture to say it was better than book one and two. The stakes are higher and closer, consequences are unavoidable.

There are also some VERY avoidable consequences - and yes, Enzo, I am looking at you.
The sheer amount of times I wanted to reach through my e-reader, clip Enzo round the ear and tell him to wind his neck in was- well it may be a world record. Despite that - kira made me adore him. Like that d***head friend you can't live without.

Lola's character was perfect too- at no point did I think this very unrealistic couple actually WAS unrealistic, which is a true testament to kira's ability to create such fleshed out, brilliant characters.

Can we also talk for a second about Lyndall?? That girl is the most epic human to ever human, I'd hate her as a little sister, but as a bezzie mate? I would go full ride or die in an instant.

The character arcs?!?! Oh my God I can't even talk about them because *spoilers* but believe me when I say, you're in for a RIDE. The twists and turns in this duet will have you reading until the sun comes up, and consistently swearing at whatever format you're reading on.

This duet was dark, sweet, funny, thrilling and devastating- I will also go on record to say that Kira wrote her side characters too well because I absolutely need stories about Lyndall, Luke, Silas, Zayden, Ruby and Gretchen.
Just. Pure. Excellence.

Sweetly Obsessed took me a bit to get into, but once the story started unfolding, it kept my attention and the ending plot twist was definitely my favorite part.

I liked Enzo as a character, but he also frustrated me at times—especially with the whole “he paid for everything she ever achieved in life” dynamic. I get the intention behind it, but it still rubbed me the wrong way a bit. It added to his controlling/obsessive personality, which fits the genre, but still made me pause.

The relationship between Lola and “Alex” was interesting, but I didn’t love that he kept pretending to be Alex when she was upset with him. That dynamic felt a little repetitive at times.

I do wish there had been more spice overall. It felt pretty mild compared to what I was expecting for a dark romance. The sexting scene in the car, where he tells her to touch herself, was probably the most shocking/intense moment for me.

Pacing-wise, I think the book could’ve been tighter in some areas, but the writing style kept it readable and engaging. If you enjoy H.D. Carlton’s writing style, I’d loosely compare it in terms of tone and vibe.

Overall, I’d describe this book as a “why choose?” type of chaotic obsession story with secrets, tension, and a solid twist at the end.

Devoted into Darkness: Enzo & Lola

Not sure if I like Enzo or not….
He’s obsessed, arrogant, DTF (but not date), and stalking his employee while trying to protect her.
Said employee (Lola) is a mess. She’s chaotic, impulsive, and very, very easily led astray.

“She is not innocent in a way that is untouched, but it is something else. Inherent in her.”

I constantly moved between entertained and horrified (in a funny way) at their antics. It’s a little dark, but not in the way where you expect violence and gore. It’s more in the situations they find themselves in and the potential repercussions - trafficking, revenge plots.

The same identity plot… oh boy… I was waiting to see how long it held, and it was so twisted… and when it’s added to the other twists about her father… it’s one big messy situation all round.

But that cliffhanger?
I’m so pissed, because I need to go to bed, and I know if I start reading the next book, I won’t sleep…
I’m invested. I need to know what happens, and now I have to wait….

Thanks, Kira, for the advance copy… definitely an entertaining read.

Sweetly Obsessed starts off kind of cute and then slowly turns into something sexy and addictive. Enzo and Lola’s chemistry is immediate, but it’s the tension between them that really sells this story. Every dare, every challenge, every little push-and-pull between them made their relationship feel playful, reckless, and ridiculously hot all at once.

Enzo and Lola are both sharp, witty, and know exactly how to get under each other’s skin, so we had some funny and flirty banter. Add in the secrets, forbidden romance, mafia chaos, and yummy spice, and I was fully invested. This was a very quick read for me, and had me flipping through pages quick in anticipation of what will happen next!

Lola and Lyndell’s relationship was one of my favorite parts. Their quick friendship added innocence to the story that balanced out all the tension perfectly.

If you love mafia romance with banter, tension-filled dares, strong chemistry, and spice that keeps escalating, this one absolutely belongs on your TBR.

ARC non spoiler honest review.

I’ve read a few books with this kind of premise before and been on the fence about them but I have to say this one kept me hooked. I loved the dynamic of the Alex/Enzo x Lola romance. It was a different perspective on a story that needed a little bit of a refresh. I love their banter and how the story is written out, especially the text messages. As with any good story my favourite character so far has to be a side character and for this book for me it was Silas. I adore him. I need more of him haha. This is not a finished story so I’m excited to read how the story continues in the next book especially after the ending!! The spice in this book is good, very detailed and aggressive, but in a playful safe way. As always check trigger warnings before delving in. Character development I think still has room to grow in the next book so holding back on that for now.
Overall I enjoyed reading this and will definitely be reading the next book.

I really enjoyed this book, it was very similar to the other two, I'm not going to lie, but it didn't make it less enjoyable. The good thing about this author is her books are extremely easy to read.

I love a dark romance, so the unhinged, stalking, obsessive romance was amazing. I must be colour blind because those red flags looked green to me.

The thing I really loved about this book was the way the MMC went above and beyond to protect the girl he'd known from childhood, even when she didn't know it herself, and yes the dark elements to was the cherry on top. I also absolutely loved the relationship between Enzo and his sister, she is extremely stubborn and knows what she wants and how to get it, and I love how Enzo is very much like a dad to her. I would actually love to read a series based on her (when she's much older, obviously!), but I feel like if she's like this now, she'd be a fire cracker when she grows up.

Im extremely excited to read the next book in the series!

ARC Review 🩷🩷🩷

***No Spoiler Review***

Lourdes’s, or Lola now, life has been turned upside down since her father took his life. He always kept business seperate from family life, but still she knew he dealt in the mafia. Enzo used to be her best friend growing up, until his father made her dad kill himself. Not only did Lola lose her father, she also lost her best friend Enzo.

Lola is struggling and finally finds a job at a start-up and just wants to get by. She accidentally has a fashion mishap flashing her new boss and CEO which turns out to be Enzo, who swoops in to buy said start-up company from his friend Louie who gets in bed with the wrong people.

This is a true enemies-to-lovers, obsessive MMC, slow burn, stalker (he has been stalking, or what he calls protecting, Lola for years), double identify, mafia family, kidnapping… all the above. It ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to dive into the next book!!!

ARC Review from Author
We are back into the Syndicate World with Enzo's story and his stalking and obsession with Lola. The first book in this duet which ties in with the earlier two books featuring Violet and Cade. In this book we get to meet Lola, someone from Enzo's past who he was forced to abandon due to drama happening between their parents but secretly he's been keeping an eye out for her. He stays in her life as a 'wrong number' and she has feelings for this anonymous guy who gets her to do their kinkiest dares. She never would have expected to see him again until he buys out her workplace and things develop from there. The tension, the angst, it was all beautiful but slow at first. It takes you a while go get into the book but the cliff hanger ending makes you want to eat up the second book.

All in all, I loved this book in classic Kira Cole fashion and I honestly will always end up buying her books because they're just so good.

Sweet slow burn
Falls in love twice (Same Guy)

Morally light gray
Great gate-way mafia romance
Light Stalking

Sweetly Obsessed by Kira Cole is a wonderful gateway into mafia-ajacent dark romance. The MFC is a sweet woman, with a unintentionally dark past. Though no fault of her own she went from sheltered rich girl to working class. She still has a good head on her shoulders as she finds a job. With her head down she works hard to exist while trying to figure out what was the catalyst of the fall from grace. All the while texting a once wrong number and unlocking desires she didn’t know she had and anything but innocent.

From the shadows the MMC, an old childhood friend, watches and does his best to protect the MFC. Secretly talking to her as someone else and delving into dark desires of control.

Received Book as a gift from author, my review and opinion are my own.
Sweetly Obsessed by Kira Cole.
I was Hooked on this book! I couldn't put it down! Kira writes her characters so well, it is a very believable story! Lola is the last of her mafia family and Enzo is the son of mafia who killed Lola's father. There is shard history. Enzo was once Lola's protector and her everything until her dad dies then her whole world changes. Enzo has his own secrets and is morally grey, stalker, obsessive, possessive, protective, touch her and die vibes! This book was absolutely intense, toxic and so addictive! The push and pull of these characters is insane! This is the first book I've read by Kira Cole but I have added Book 1 Sweetly Unhinged and book 2 Beautifully Ruined to my TBR list! This is an absolute must read!!!

ARC review: I was so excited to read the next 2 books in this series after loving the first two.

I liked the story line the author created and I love that Enzo got a book after him having a fairly large role in the first two books. A warning that this is super slow burn.

I did like Enzo and Lola together, but I did find their inner dialogue about one another a little repetitive and felt like I could have skipped chunks of certain chapters and not really missed out on anything important in the story line.

The spicy scenes were HOT! Which was definitely expected after reading about Enzo's previous rendezvous in the previous 2 books.

Although these are a standalone duology, I would definitely read the first 2 books in the series to lean about the syndicate and Enzo.

Lola finally has a job after being blackballed by employers because of her father's actions. She gets the job by using her mother's maiden name and also using her nickname. She has developed an anonymous contact who texts her. In the meantime, Enzo her childhood crush has bought the company where she works. She fears he will fire her, but instead she is promoted as his assistant.
There is a twist in their relationship which I won't reveal. Enzo finds out a mobster is out to get her.
I loved the interactions between Enzo and Lola, and his sister Lyndall. There is a complicated plot with a cliffhanger ending.
Beautifully Twisted is part two of the story.

Thank you Kira Cole for the arc!

First off I am so glad I got the second one in this duet because I would’ve been upset with the way it ended. This took stalker to a whole new level. I have so many questions and hopefully the second one gives me answers.

I honestly adore Lyndall. She’s just fun

Enzo is wild, but he has good intentions and when he was Alex, wow. The way he looks out for Lola is next level

Lola is kinda dumb though. Falling for a guy who randomly texted her from a wrong number, let him have sex with her at a construction site. The dude could’ve killed her honestly. And why did her dad kill himself?

This book was a page turner! She’s the only surviving family member of a mafia family, and he’s the son of the man that was the cause of her father’s death. They grew up together but haven’t seen each other in years, but he’s always kept tabs on her. And now that her life may be in danger, he’s come back into her life. But she already has someone in her life that she’d been texting for some time, not knowing that the person that she trusts so much is actually Enzo. And the things they talk about are mouthwatering! Definitely a great read. It ends on a cliffhanger so I’m ready to dive into the next book!

I received this book as an advanced reader copy.

A cliffhanger after a slow burn was a sassy way to keep the tension going!

The story is well written, and I was easily drawn into the characters. I like Enzo and Lola together. I enjoyed Enzo and Cade's banter in books 1 and 2, so I was happy to see that it carried on in book 3. I was expecting a little more violence after Cade and Vi's storyline, but I'm not sad about it. The focus on Enzo's obsession and self-denial, for various reasons, is a great source of tension. I can't wait to see how Lola deals with everything in the next book!

Sweetly Obsessed hooked me from the first chapter. Witty text banter between strangers?! Heck yes, give me all the banter.

Aaaaah this was sooo good! Never a dull moment, there's delicious tension and banter between *ahem* three characters. I couldn't decide which love interest I enjoyed most.. Enzo or Alex *spoiler alert* they're the same guy! She falls for both, but trusts one more than the other and I'm over here internally screaming! The spice is *chef's kiss*, plot is tense, the mafia is involved after all.

Thank you Kira Cole for ARCs for the duet

love love love lola and enzo. their books are amazing.

lola the smart yet naïve fmc falling for two guys who make her feel loved. falling for one she’s never met and falling for the “enemies son”

enzo the mafi4 billionaire who bought her company and gave her a promotion.

a shared past and even more shared things than they know. a love meant to be but also forced. confusion and protection.

i loved it. this is book 3 in the series but book 1 in the second duet.
