For generations, humanity has allowed an all-powerful AI called the Construct to rule over them. Now it claims that Jayde Ashr holds the key to mankind’s survival.

But Jayde wants freedom, not prophecy. When she escapes her moon colony and journeys to Eurus IV, a storm-ravaged, Earth-like planet, she hopes only to find her missing mother. Instead, she uncovers a hidden rebellion and the truth about her mother’s secret mission.

With violent storms, alien creatures, and the Construct’s forces closing in, Jayde must decide whether to run from the future the AI has planned or to fight for one she chooses herself.

Rebel Planet is a gripping science fiction adventure about survival, resistance, and the power of choice.

4.5 ⭐️ This was such a good scifi read! I loved the adventure we went on traveling from their moon colony to this earth like planet that really showed how no matter what humans will always feel connected in nature.

The plot of this story revolves around AI ‘construct’ taking over their colony. Our fmc is hoping for freedom and in search of her mother when she escapes with a friend.

I love seeing a rebellion fighting against oppressors who are trying to control the human population and this book really reflects a lot of what’s going on in todays society.

Overall I think this is an entertaining, adventurous, short scifi read with a bigger thought provoking topic to keep you thinking.

I’ll start with a simple truth: Rebel Planet is an amazing book. Parker Lyons has crafted a powerful science fiction story that blends philosophy, religion, hope, love, and rebellion into a thought-provoking narrative.

The novel takes place in a distant future where Earth has long been abandoned as uninhabitable. Our story begins on Hypnos, a colony world ruled by an all-controlling artificial intelligence known as The Construct. To the people of Hypnos, the Construct has become nothing less than a god. It decides their jobs, their partners, and even how they are meant to live. Its entire purpose is control.

This system even has its own clergy—priests who enforce the Construct’s will. One of the most compelling aspects of Lyons’s writing is the way he weaves religious ideas into the story, forcing characters and readers alike to wrestle with questions of destiny and free will. At one point, a character says: “You sound like the Construct! Destiny is a word it uses as a leash. It keeps people in line, makes people obey on faith that their misery has some kind of purpose.” Lines like this capture the heart of the novel, exposing the dangers of blind faith and the power of questioning authority.

At its core, Rebel Planet is the story of Jayde, a young woman who begins to understand what it means to live freely and to resist a system that wants to dictate every aspect of her existence. Her journey—alongside Merrick—feels both deeply personal and universally relevant.

Parker Lyons has created a vivid world and unforgettable characters that stay with you long after you close the book. If you enjoy science fiction that challenges ideas while telling a gripping story, I can’t recommend Rebel Planet highly enough.

A gripping sci-fi adventure set in a future where humanity fights for survival against alien overlords. The story blends fast-paced action with clever strategy, making every choice feel high-stakes. If you love immersive worlds and tense decision-making, this book is a must-read. Jayde is the heroine we all need!

What a fun read! This YA sci-fi book was fun read! Good action in world building, and really appreciated the heroine. But I gotta say, really loved the villainous AI, totally my favorite character. 😁 Great world building, unique story, and excited to see what happens next in the series!

Unforgettable Writing and an Ending That Delivers

Rebel Planet hooked me immediately, which is rare for me as a reader. Lyons writes with such clear, cinematic detail that every scene feels as if you’re watching a movie. This sci-fi thriller has its own identity, its own energy, and moments throughout the story that pull you deeper into Jayde’s world.

The story is well-paced, beautifully written, and ends on exactly the right note. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys future-focused sci-fi, off-world exploration, or simply a well-crafted story.

And the ending? Absolutely perfect. I’m all about last lines, and this one landed exactly the way I hoped it would.

While this would have benefited from a better proofreader, or another run through, overall I quite enjoyed this. The issues (changing tenses occasionally, the same verb appearing in consecutive sentences, some silly dialogue, a truly goofy final code) were not distracting enough to cause my interest to decrease.

I'm not sure how I feel about the bits of religiosity coming from Merrick, but I do appreciate that they are attempting to find meaning in a world created to be meaningless. This is not a new story by any means, but it is well done. The final chapter really sets the stage for the rest of the story. Would gladly read the rest of the series to see what comes of Jayde and her mother's rebellion. Congrats to the Midnight Carnival team and Parker Lyons.

I can’t get this book out of my head. The AI baddie was frighteningly believable and unfortunately grounded in possibility. Each character stood out, and the author effectively raised the stakes throughout the story. Without giving too much away, I loved the various locations, especially toward the end of the book. The writing flowed well and the dialogue felt natural. If you love stories of survival and mystery, you’ll love Rebel Planet! Super pumped to read the next one when it comes out!

If you enjoy action and vivid descriptions that allow you to imagine being in another world, this book is for you. Rebel Planet kept me wanting more, while also, raising thought provoking questions about humanity as we know it. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Jayde Ashr in next book!
