She is the shy, quiet, nerdy girl. He is the hero.
From childhood, she’s only had eyes for him. His only goal in life was to become a firefighter. One of the elite. A hotshot. He is one of the top smokejumpers from Krassel Yard.
Smoke has clouded his vision. Never noticing the relationship they were already forming, he is surprised when the girl next door growing up is suddenly all woman and all he can think about.
When the smoke clears, can he handle the flames of desire she draws out of him? Or will he leave her heart a smoldering pile of ashes?
USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Chelsea Camaron is a small town Carolina girl with a big imagination. She is a wife and mom chasing her dreams.
She writes contemporary romance, erotic suspense, and psychological thrillers. She loves to write blue-collar men who have real problems with a fictional twist. From mechanics to bikers to oil riggers to smokejumpers, bar owners, and beyond, she loves a strong hero who works hard and plays harder.
What a pleasant surprise to read this book. Sometimes I feel that firefighters are the least celebrated of all heroes. Unfairly so. But leave it to Miss Camaron and Miss Hewitt to rectify that and put some well-deserved light on our firefighters. The day I finished reading this book, I was watching the news, and heard a statistic that every three days a firefighter dies in the line of duty. So sad but true, these men face death for our sake and its so wonderful to read fiction celebrating them. Anyway, back to the book. Kale, what a hot guy, pun intended. He is a hero from a true line of heroes. My heart ached for him since the very beginning of the book. (Lots of Kleenex were involved). Paige, sweet and pretty, loves Kale, but her insecurities get the best of her. Oh, how badly I wanted her to come out of her shell. When she finally did, it was wonderful to see her doing so. I love stories where we can see the character develop and turn into a better version of themselves. This book brought me to tears many times. The chemistry between these two writers was perfection. I cant wait for Piper’s story.
Paige has been in love with her best friends brother, Kale (isn't that some type of lettuce?!), for years. Unfortunately, she's shy, plain, and so not his type - who by the way seems to be every other un-married or married woman in town - so he's never noticed her. As in never ever, ever.
But one night he accidentally sees her in her tight sleep top and undercracks, realises how hot she actually is, and is overcome with so much lust for her, they end up doing the nasty. No build up, no second thoughts, no nothing... HUH!?! This kind of threw me. But as soon as the deed is done, he practically jumps out of bed and tells her it was a mistake and leaves.
Paige who already is insecure and feel like she's out of his league tries to move on.
Eventually, Kale realises his mistake and quickly decides she's "his girls" and "made for him". Whiplash anyone? Although it's a dream come true for Paige, she finds it hard to believe in. When she finally takes the chance and start believing, tragedy strikes. Kale acts like a jerk and pushes Paige away.
But eventually everything works out. Happy days.

I am by now used with Chelsea's Camaron bad boy type but this one didn't make me swoon. Kale a forever womanizer and player spent a moment of passion with his sister's friend Paige, and immediately acts as an ass and leaves. Paige had her own issues and easily accepted the fact that she is "everybody's" mistake, including Kale's.
My issues with this book were the sex scenes. After 50 shades I am so weary of reading a book where the guy from beginning asks for control and ties the woman even though there is no major kink going on. This is a thing that puts me off in a book. For me at least they could have been eased in a relationship before jumping to ropes. 50 had a reason not to be touched, Kale on the other hand, I didn't get the memo on his problems and not letting Paige touch him... Then after people have to tell him he needs a relationship with Paige he goes full force ignoring his relationship phobia to have it come back as soon as a small issue comes up. All was well in the end but I felt Paige more of a door mat that an equal partner. Somehow this story didn't click for me and it put me off for a wile from the few pages stories. I need some depth to justify the whole drama.
I can't believe I've never discovered this book til now. But now, I want more because I'm invested in these beautifully broken characters. Kale has a dominant side that won't disappoint .. and he may just have you tied up in knots➰👐➰😉❤ Falling in love with these characters was so easy. Through Paige's struggles of worth and Kale dealing with his losses I find myself cheering them on and praying that they dare to hope and dream! I can not wait for Piper and Mason's story
As a close, best friend it was not Piper’s story to divulge Paige’s(h) intimate details including insecurities and past relationships to the one person Kale (H) albeit her brother especially since he referred to their one night together as a ‘mistake’.
Someone should revoke her friendship card for disloyalty. Paige shares everything, does she not understand certain details are personal and private?
Kale is a dominant, hot, protective man who loves his job as a fire jumper and firefighter. Paige is his little sisters best friend and she has had a crush on Kale forever. She is more in the dark corner observer.
I have read many series by both authors. They are 2 of the best on this planet. The struggles are real, just in a fictional setting. Find every book they have done and read them all. You will break and heal finding inner peace. ❤️
Kale (Fire Inside #1) By: Chelsea Camaron & Theresa Marguerite Hewitt 4/5 stars
Kale is a smoke jumper who battles wildfires in Idaho. It is a thankless, difficult, dangerous and sometimes deadly job. But he wouldn’t have it any other way. His father was a fire fighter and was not only a hero in the community but was a hero to his son, his daughter and his wife. Their father has been forever immortalized since dying in the line of duty.
Paige is the best friend of Piper, Kale’s younger sister. Paige has also been in love with Kale for a very long time, but he has never seen her as anyone other than his little sister’s best friend and a little girl in pig tails. She’s always been the shy wallflower with no confidence. Growing up her mother verbally abused her and beat her down. Paige is beautiful and has no clue.
Kale, not wanting to make any connections for fear of losing that person, only has one-night stands but he knows that he is missing out on something. The only people that he is even close to are his fellow brothers on the force, his mother, his sister and Paige who has been in his life since before his father died.
Paige wishes that Kale would notice her, but after an encounter, he lets her know that it was a mistake and several of his fellow smoke jumpers would be more than happy for Paige to be their girlfriend. Kale doesn’t understand his feelings and hates that he has them. It takes almost losing Paige to a horrific accident for him to come to terms with his feelings.
But Paige just doesn’t know that she can actually believe Kale and that he won’t think that she is a mistake. She doesn’t trust him to change his mind and leave her blowing in the wind. Kale has his work cut out for him, but knows that Paige is a strong woman who understands his job and who would be the perfect woman for him.
I really liked this book, but my only complaint is how much history Kale and Paige had and he never saw it or was unwilling to acknowledge. He says that he didn’t know how he had always cared for her, but that she was always there. But he went out of his way to protect Paige and to be with her during significant times in her life and admits that he didn’t remember anything about his sister during those times. It just seemed too fabricated and way to obvious for him to never get it until someone else pointed it out to him and then he remembered so much about what he did to take care of her.
I absolutely LOVED Paige’s superhero undies…they really cracked me up! I can’t wait for the next book in the series, which I’m hoping will be Piper’s book!
OH MY…Kale…excuse me while I have a moment to myself. This steamy little book was full of fire, hot scorching men and dangerous excitement. Of course it helps that Kale and his cohorts are “smoke jumpers” …yes those dare-devil firefighters who go straight into the center of a blaze to protect and save human life as well as animals and the land around them. This book was a joint effort from two really awesome writers, Chelsea Camaron and Theresa M. Hewitt…and together they have created a sexy and passionate story of men who have such dangerous professions that they have a hard time settling down to one woman. Not because they can’t be faithful or commit (although women literally throw themselves at them as their panties disintegrate), but more because of the fear that they could die at any time in the line of work, and who wants to risk leaving their woman alone behind them. Kale and his little sister Piper were neighbors but more like family to Paige…a quiet, nerdy girl who grew up to be a smart but insecure woman who wears “superhero” undies and has no clue that she is in fact gorgeous. Paige was no stranger to the hard work Kale does, as her dad was a firefighter who lived on the edge of danger every time he got a call to action. She has had a crush and has been secretly in love with her friend Piper’s big brother forever, but has watched from afar as he beds one sexy woman after another. A chance and surprising encounter with Kale leaves Paige reeling when a “mistake” happens and she is thrown into a whirlpool of emotions that cause her to take extreme action. When life and work collide and she crosses paths with Kale in an unexpected and life-threatening way yet again…things will never be the same as he fights for her to see who he really is and what she means to him and the family. It takes a certain kind of woman to be with a man who works this kind of job…it is a lifestyle, a commitment to protect and serve and not everyone is cut out for it. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but let me just say if you love a good firefighter romance, with some funny moments, suspenseful and dangerous action and plenty of steamy sexy time…this is the book for you!! So good I didn’t put it down until I read the entire thing…thanks for the smoking hot good time ladies =) I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kale is the first book of the Fire Inside series by Chelsea Camaron and Theresa Marguerite Hewitt. If you like sexy firemen that need to be saved by the right girl as much as they need to be the hero and protect this book is for you. First books often suffer from parts that are too drawn out where the author is trying to set up for future books. I didn't get this feeling at all with this and I'm looking forward to what else this series has to offer.
Kale Benson has being a hero in his blood. At a young age Kale stepped up to take care of his mom and sister when his own dad lost his life fighting fires. Because of the dangers of his job Kale has never even considered a relationship. He refuses to leave a family behind like his father did. For as long as he can remember Paige has been a part of their family as his sister's best friend. He's never seen her as anything more than one half of the "two p's in a pod" moniker that he nicknamed Piper and Paige early on. One night changed it all. One night that was far sexier and felt more right than any other night he's had. A night that could never happen again.
Paige has been in love with Kale for as long as she can remember. She's always been the shy quiet friend of his baby sister. Definitely not worthy of someone as sexy and hot as Kale. Or at least that's what she has convinced herself for years. Then one night he made all of her dreams come true only to crush her the very next morning. "You were a mistake" is not what anyone would ever want to hear, but hearing it from the man of your dreams is devestating. Her whole life she has heard the very same thing from her own mother, so it's nothing she hasn't heard before. But, it was a whole new level of hurt coming from his mouth.
Wow! All I can say is have tissues handy while you're reading this book. There are so many parts that are sure to make you cry, make you smile, make you mad and just make you feel. The secondary characters have left me begging for more. I really hope the next story is Piper and Mason's.
I won this book from the author during a charaity auction but then bought the ecopy becasue you cant really read a signed paperback right??
I am a huge fan of Chelsea and even though she is a meanie and enjoys making me cry in her books, I still like her :) I love her MC books and even read her Love and Repair mechanics books. SO when I saw she wrote a book about hottie Fireman/smoke Jumpers...YES PLEASE!! So I bid on this signed book based on the fact it was a Chelsea book. When i won i,t I bought the Ecopy and sat and devoured this book in one day.
Kale is Mr. Hottie Fireman who is KINDA...ok not kinda but really,....a huge player. He see's Paige has his sisters best friend and that is it. ORRRR It is? Paige is crazy in love with Kale and her heart breaks a little more inside when she sees him hooking up with bimbos and fireman groupies. Well she admits her love to her bestie/Kale's little sister and Piper is all "Operation get my brother to SEE you".
WELL PLAYED Pipe! She starts to plant little thoughts into Kale's head. When is SEES Paige in her awesome superhero underwear, well lets just say they have a gooood time annnnd then Kale got all kinds of Douche on Paige. I was so mad...like hurt his man parts mad. Well guess who was mad too? Piper...did I mention i loved this girl??? Well Paige accepts a date with one of the team Kale works with and this makes him lose it. So he goes to see his mom who helps him realize that Paige has always been his heart.
So when Kale realizes she is IT, Paige is put in the way of a fire. Kale goes Alpha over his girl. OMG soooo good. Kale then is forcing Paige to realize she is the one....they come to a good place but then something happens and Kale pushes his girl away. When he realizes he did it AGAIN, can he save it or has she moved on????
I loved the side plot with Piper and Mason...CAN. NOT. WAIT!! They are an explosive chemistry that I cant wait to read. I also loved the epilogue. It was so sweet and i loved the new POV presented......
Firefighters, need I say more? Kale Benson has gone through life never committing to anyone. His job doesn't make it easy wanting to be with someone forever. He doesn't want them to worry about whether he will be coming home or not. He doesn't want to have a scanner on the bedside table while they sleep. But there is one girl that he would love to commit to.
Paige Lockley grew up in a not so great household. With her father gone all the time for his job it left her with a mother who cared more about a bottle than her daughter. Paige goes through life believing she will never be loved by a man because she isn't beautiful enough. However, she is beautiful, one of the most beautiful girls Kale has ever seen. One night makes their relationship toxic when he tells her she's a mistake, making her shrink back into her shell.
With Paige's superhero underwear and the understanding of the firefighter life, can Kale finally have found the one to make him commit to forever instead of a one night stand?
Beware of tears with this story. Jump into this blazing relationship and feel the ignited heat between two friends turned lovers.
I loved this book! It was totally amazing. Don't let the length fool you.. this book packs a serious punch. This book had me laughing, smiling, and I even cried. This book is about two broken people trying to find love despite the obstacles they face. This book was so sweet, sexy, naughty, spicy, and had one sexy, dirty mouth firefighter (smoke jumper)!
This is Paige and Kale's story! Living through an abusive childhood and one failed relationship, she has become introverted and would rather be invisible than the center of attention. But she has one secret she has never told anyone.... she is in love with her best friend's brother, Kale. Kale is a special firefighter who risks his life daily doing extreme things. When he starts to see his little sister's best friend as more than just a friend, he is confused about his feelings. As these two struggle to understand their feelings for each other, they will face tragedy. Will they be able to push through and make it? Will Paige be able to move past her insecurities and take a chance on Kale? Will Kale and Paige get their happy ending? Between meddling co-workers and friends, these two don't stand a chance!
I loved Kale! He was the epitome of the perfect man. I loved how he pushed Paige and made her realize how great she is. I also loved how he was so sinfully sexy and dominant between the sheets. I did want to smack him and hug him at the same time.... quite a few times during the story. I also liked Paige. I did want to shake her and tell her to see Kale was right in front of her but I also empathized with her. I loved their happy ending and can't wait for more from this series because the secondary characters rock their ass off! Oh and that epilogue.... beautiful!
I am totally keep my fingers crossed for a Piper and Mason story next in this series! :)
Kale's mama is one strong woman, "Kale Matthew Benson! If Paige needs you to be there for her, then you do it! That girl is our family. She didn't have the easiest of time growing up." My mother scolds and I nod my head." Kale can be a little flirty, "she brushes up against me, a gasp escapes as she feels my erection against her hip. I laugh as I lean down to whisper in her ear. "What did you expect? You're half naked, gorgeous, and your Spiderman panties are screaming for you to crawl all over my d*** and weave your web." He can be so caring and such a gentleman at times, "he drops my bottoms just below my a**, leaving my front covered since my legs are still crossed. He lightly smacks my left a** cheek as he gestures to sit down on the toilet. "There, now you can slide down by yourself and keep your modesty. I'll step out. When you finish, slide them up and call for me. You have to keep weight off your ankle, doctor's orders." He's so romantic as well, "whoever the hell I want is you, but you're injured, baby, so we can't go that right now. No worries, as soon as you're back on you're feet, I'll have you off them and tied to my bed." I can't wait for Piper and Mason's story. I'm going to love this series.
Kale is a firefighter. He's one of those guys who they drop in by helicopter for really bad fires. His dad was also a fireman, and Kale was there and watched the day his dad died during an explosion. But it's what he's always wanted to do and he's damn good at his job.
Paige is best friends with Piper and is in love with Piper's big brother Kale. She always has been for as long as she can remember. Problem is, Kale only sees her as a brother would. Or does he? After an unexpected encounter between them, Kale gets scared and runs. He's always stayed clear of relationships. His job is too dangerous and he doesn't want to leave a girl behind and grieving over him. But when he realizes just how much he really cares about Paige and how messed up his leaving her was, it may be too late.
I loved Kale. He's a sexy firefighter who loves his family, and that includes Paige. Once he decides what he wants, he goes all in. I got a little annoyed with Paige. I really liked her a lot, but at one point, she was trying to deny what she'd wanted for a number of years. But she's not the only one. Kale makes a bad move too.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and hope we'll get a book about Mason and Piper.

Beware of tears with this story. Jump into this blazing relationship and feel the ignited heat between two friends turned lovers. ~ Keisha, 4 stars
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed so well I could not tell when the authors switching in the story. The story has laughs and heartbreak.
This is Paige and Kale’s story. Paige had a horrible childhood with her mother and still feels insecurities even in adulthood. She has loved Kale her best friend’s brother forever but sadly he does not see her that way. Kale has always treated Paige like a sister. But one night will change the dynamic of the relationship. Not everything is falling apart from the use of one word “Mistake”. Can Kale convince Paige to give him a chance? Or will a tragic incident make him push her away forever?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from these two authors.
Good storyline. Unfortunately I wasn't to thrilled with the characters. I didn't understand why Paige couldn't get over the whole 'mistake' thing. She took it to a whole new level. Held on to it with such conviction it became quite annoying, she became quite annoying. Kale was just being a guy, stupid. He tried to make up for it, he was sincere in his attempts to make up for his blunder but she just would not let it go. Piper was another annoying character, it was grating how she kept trying to pimp her brother out, for lack of a better word..lol. I hate nosy friends like her, who are so pushy and demanding. Pay attention to your own damn life and stop trying to control others...
Overall it wasn't too bad a read, there was a very sad loss, one I didn't see coming but should have expected with the type of job these men do. It could have been any one of them, so when it was, it was so very sad. It would have been better if Paige had some sort of backbone, Piper would have minded her own business and Kale wouldn't have had his head up his ass, but alas not every book is perfect...
I loved this. It's a totally different style for this author, so I'm thrilled she's branching out. There is a new group of hero`s, they are smoke jumpers! I just adore the camaraderie Tango men had. Kale is pretty complex as you can imagine, he's tough and has the firefighter role in his blood as he takes after his Dad. He lost his father in a fire, so that's only part of it.
Now I also liked Rolando and Mason. I'm hoping to get more of the Tango men and fast!
Kale`s sister Piper is the bff of Paige, who is in love with Kale. A seriously good plot with a lot of naughty romance. Another new aspect of Chelsea`s writing is present in a few role play scenes verging on bdsm, oh my!! A must read
HOT HOT HOT!! I really enjoyed this book. There are sexy firefighters jumping out of planes, what's not to like!
One dirty mouthed smoke jumper who doesn't think he can handle love in his life due to his dangerous profession. A quick no strings attached roll in the sheets he can do, but love...
One sweet tempered animal lover and best friend to the sister of a smoke jumper she's been in love with from afar for years. Even though she knows he'll never see her as anything more than the sweet girl that practically grew up inside his family, it does nothing to stop the fire he ignites inside of her.
Will one sort of accidental, but HOT and completely inevitable night shared between the two leave them rethinking what they once thought would never be?
I'm late to the game but I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to see where the next one takes me. I felt like the main characters in here were very well done. There was a teaser into one of the other characters that I hope we get her story. Paige - I was not expecting so many secrets about her and I liked that. There were things that surprised me and made my heart break for her all at once. Kale - yeah I wanted to give him a kick several times! He was a great character though and I liked the struggles he had to overcome. They seemed real. This was a good story that I really enjoyed reading. It was a quick read for me but I liked how it ended it left me wanting more.
I loved this book. I was lucky enough to see it being worked behind the scenes and let me just tell you that Chelsea and Theresa did an outstanding job working together. I didn't think it would be easy to do but they pulled it off. Kale is so sexy and swoon worthy and he even is a tad bit broken keeping his heart shielded. Paige is a homey, sexy, low self esteem gal who pulls off wearing super hero panties and making them sexy.
Chelsea and Theresa make you feel the heart ache that Paige, Kale, and Team Tango endure; you will definitely end up with a tear or two; I know I did. Don't pass up the sexiness that is Kale Benson and read this one; you will not be disappointed.
Not bad, a pretty light read but I never really warmed up to the hero and even more irritating, I didn't always see the reasoning behind some of the characters reactions... In particular, at the end of the book, something happens and both mc's seemed more concerned about the status of their relationship then the something that happens... I mean if more than a couple days had passed it would've been fine, but it's like this event happens, and 72 (mostly glossed over) hours later the story ends... IMO it's just too sudden.
So 2.5 stars: better than okay, but I don't know that I'd say I liked it.
I gave this book 1.5 stars b/c the career choice of the hero is different and the story was good.
However, it happens to quickly.
Paige is in love with her bestie brother. He never notices her. She only had sex 3 painful times and One night she just has sex with him. You think it would be ok but it wasn't. It just wasn't believable things happened so fast. It's just needs more story to it. Did I confuse you or bore you? That's how the book made me feel. Maybe it got better but I found myself skipping parts.

Paige has been in love weigh Kale since she was s kid. Kale always thought of Paige as his little sister's best friend. But when he stumbles into her one night he sees more. Only Kale can't give her more than the one night. Wow! I was on the edge of my seat from the start. Needing to know what was going to happen next! Kale ius super hot and sexy. Paige is innocent and sweet. But the two together are like an explosion! Super hot, heartbreaking, sweet, suspenseful and healing. Must read!!!
This was a cute story... Easy reading and moved at a good pace. He was a little unsettling.. One second he was there and NEVER leaving.. the next he wants nothing to do with her then OMG, I am SO SORRY I should not have left, please forgive me... But I still enjoyed it. I got to look into his background and understand why he was this way. She was a little too quick to forgive and take him back, but again, for some reason I enjoyed the book. Sweet and cute.. That is where I would put it.
This book was just so damn good! The feels, oh the feels. I laughed, cried and got mad. Kale was so damn stubborn. Paige made me angry too. They both had these crazy notions and I wanted to smack them at times. I loved seeing the brotherhood of the station.
I'm in love with the Captain, even if he isn't a main character.
I'm looking forward to more from the men of Krassel Yard.
I enjoyed this book although I was extremely frustrated with the pig headedness of the two main characters. Both Paige and Kale had issues that they needed to resolve and with the help of each other, they were able to move forward. The last call will remain with me for a long time. Thank you Chelsea.
Kale will light a fire inside you never want to put out...
I love Chelsea Cameron books! But this is by far my favorite one she has written to date. I loved the characters and all their different dynamics, they were complex and very intriguing. The amount of hot firefighters in the book did not disappoint either!
I wanted to read something intriguing and angsty and with Kale, I definitely got that. And more, the writing style was flawless and engaging, the story was beautiful. Most of all, I was enjoying how authors managed to capture characters. At first sight, they seemed harmless but they all had drilled their way to my heart almost effortlessly—and even without my knowing.
