Hi! I'm Gina and I write realistic, relatable, sweet New Adult and Contemporary Romance books. A NJ native, I have lived and worked abroad before settling in Canada with my husband and Littles. Although I can't iron (at all), I am a passionate reader, frequent globetrotter, and aspiring baker (recipes appreciated!). I love hearing from fellow readers so please connect!
Surprised and Sacked is a second chance sports romance between the characters West and Nova. They’re very much in love but distance has made them fall apart. Nova resides in Paris where her family lives while West is stuck in Knoxville where his football team is. Their split was amiable, but there’s no denying that they’d rather have it any other way. So when Nova visits the states for one of West’s games, they fall into old habits and into bed for “one last time.”
But of course… a few weeks later, two pink lines make their lives more complicated than ever.
This book is ANGSTY. Nova and West trying to navigate this surprise was truly a hot mess. They’re living an ocean apart and trying to figure out how to be the best coparents they can be. I wanted to smack my forehead the entire book. But I will say, there’s something refreshing about characters that get it wrong. Although it drove me crazy at the time, I appreciated how all the characters handled this wrong. Starting with the way Nova’s friends promptly spill the beans, sending West rushing in like a mad man to talk to Nova before she’s ready. OOF. Then add in a bunch of angst, drama, and trust issues on top… aaaaaand you get this book!
The way this book played out felt so realistic because it is easy to jump to conclusions and say all the wrong things. Especially when tension is high. There were moments when I truly didn’t know if these characters were going to find their happy ending. Nova and West are your textbook, “I’m standing in my own way” type of people. It’s a rough ride for sure, but it makes it all the more satisfying when they FINALLY figure it out.
It’ll be so interesting to see what happens next in this series! Thank you to Gina Azzi for the book.
I received a copy of this Arc and exchange for my honest review. Gina is an absolute rockstar when it comes to writing sports romance, no matter which sport! This was an instant binge read, start to finish in a sitting. After West wins the Super Bowl, he’s reunited with his ex Nova. They celebrate, enjoy one night together before she has to return to France to help her dad and work on her business. Neither have found anyone that compares to the other and feelings still run very deep. This is their story, as they navigate seeing one another again and a surprise pregnancy. I don’t know that I have met a MMC as dreamy, devoted and persistent as West. West has a difficult past with his childhood, him opening up to Nova was emotional and had my heart strings in a knot. This is a beautiful second chance at love story, delicious spice with an addicting storyline that will have you captivated by the star football player. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you are like me, then you will remember the crumbs that were left during Derek & Allegra's books. To say I was excited for this one would be an understatement.
West and Nova's story was everything I could have wanted and MORE.
Their connection? Undeniable. Their chemistry? Spot on.
While the challenges they had to overcome sometimes seemed impossible, together they managed to find a way.
I adored the way West cared for Nova, and how he faced some of his demons to find his place. Likewise, I also appreciated Nova's drive to be her own woman, while supporting her family and trying to navigate her new reality. It wasn't always pretty but it came across as genuine and real.
I really enjoyed meeting some new characters, as well as catching up with those whose stories I have already devoured.
I loved the teasing banter between friends, family and team-mates. The way they always showed up for each other was what made this story...for lack of a better word, extra.
Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review
This was a cute book. I truly enjoyed it. Nova and Wes has this beautiful and unique love that may have been through some tests but truly proved that these two people were meant to be. Wes was incredible. Supportive, protective, possessive, and so head over heels in love with Nova. You could see that this man lived and breathed for her. Nova, on the other hand, was such an independent and hardworking woman. So caring and loving, always trying to be there for the people she loved. That woman adored Wes' ass. She truly belonged with him. You could see throughout the book how much these two adored each other. Watching Wes drop his life in the USA the moment he found out Nova was pregnant and he flew to Paris to show her how much he wanted their little family and how much she meant to him. That gesture had me on my knees, and I truly loved how she was there by her side through all without second-guessing this. The epilogue was so cute and each moment these two had was everything!
Book by: Gina Azzi Tropes: • Sports romance • Surprise pregnancy • Second chance • Found family • Forced proximity • One night stand • Slowburn
Surprised & Sacked was one of those books that really surprised me. There for a while I thought I was not going to like it. I was expecting a lot of ow drama & angst. BUT I was pleasantly surprised it was NOTHING like I was expecting. I ended this book loving it & can’t wait for the next one. I enjoyed both characters, especially West! That man was near perfect. As soon as he found out about Nova being pregnant he jumped on a plane & was by her side. Nova though, I had mixed feelings about. I didn’t like she never told West she was pregnant & he had to find out through friends. And there was just something about her I couldn’t figure out what, but it left me feeling torn about her. Her father & brothers were amazing, & so incredibly supportive. I loved that. But what shocked me most was Marissa! When West & her contracted to be in a fake relationship, I thought she’d be nothing but trouble. But I was so wrong! She was really great & I can’t wait to see happens w/her in the future.
“No one has ever made me see stars like West Crawford. I’ve never wanted a man the way I want him. I’ve never loved anyone else. With him, it’s always been different. More.”

I absolutely loved Nova and West's story! This is exactly why I fell in love with Gina's books! The angst, the emotions, the gut-wrenching decisions, the pure love that ran through the pages. This couple tore my heart into a million little pieces before putting it back together again, making me feel so many things and I can't imagine a more perfect match.
“Because we’ll never have more than this,” she admits, gesturing between us. “And it will never be enough.”
When Nova had to leave Knoxville to care for her father in Paris while West stayed behind to focus on football, their relationship faltered with the long distance and they inevitably drifted apart. But they never stopped thinking about each other, never stopped missing each other, wishing things could have been different. When the Coyotes won the Super Bowl with Nova at the game to show her support, she and West reunited for one last night looking for closure for a relationship that seemed like it was never meant to be. That is, until Nova discovered she was pregnant with West's baby.
“You didn’t get a fair shot but that doesn’t mean you don’t know how to give one.”
West was the rookie who was living his dream. But he only cared about Nova. Once he found out she was pregnant, he was all in, resetting his priorities, unwavering in his devotion to her. Touching on some heavy topics, West was scarred by his childhood and just wanted to be a good dad, to break the cycle of his past. He was so broken but he had so much love for Nova and it took my breath away. When he started thinking about the nursery, I felt so emotional and I knew I was falling for West Crawford too. He was so sweet and thoughtful and was what Nova needed even if he sometimes felt undeserving of her.
Nova first made an appearance in the Burnt Clovers trilogy and has become a strong, determined FMC. She had so much to deal with from her father's health to her pregnancy to her career path, yet she handled it all beautifully. She had already started building a life for herself in Paris and she didn't want to compromise and give up on that, losing herself to follow West to Knoxville. But she knew long distance didn't work for them so she had to make a decision.
“Just like you said, we’d have found our way back to each other. I think that will always be true.”
Nova and West have become one of my favorite couples, fitting together seamlessly, effortlessly. The heartbreaking anger and hurt that wove through their relationship, the angst as they learned to rebuild trust in each other and in themselves, the love these two had, all of it was such an emotional whirlwind. The third act breakup nearly broke me and I found myself completely immersed in their story.
With a plot that was layered with complexity, there was so much to love. I adored Nova's family and the way they embraced West, accepting him as one of their own. Nova's brothers were so loyal and supportive and her relationship with her dad nearly brought me to tears. I loved Nova's friends and their group chats and the way West's teammates had his back. And, of course, it was great to revisit characters from the Burnt Clovers.
Ultimately, this was a story about found family and coming home, making a bright future from life's unexpected surprises without losing yourself along the way. And with two people who couldn't have been more right for each other, who had so much depth to the love they shared, true soulmates, it was simply *chef's kiss* perfect!
“It’s better than anything I ever imagined. Because deep down, I know it’s for always.”

Nova and West were college sweethearts, but when life took them in different directions, everything fell apart. Nova Jean Martin has been called back to France to take care of her father who just had a heart attack. West Crawford is the star running back for the Knoxville Coyotes who just won the Super Bowl as a rookie. They try to make it work long distance but it doesn't work out. They go radio silent and don't speak for months, but Nova is back to watch West in the Super Bowl and it gives them one more time to connect. It was lovely to see them back together, but there was a sadness hanging over them in their thoughts and words. "This is the end." "Tomorrow she'll be gone." It all sounded so final and it annoyed me. After their night together, Nova leaves before West wakes up and that makes everything feel hopeless for a reunion. Right after they break up, West goes on a self-destructive binge of alcohol, partying and women. I was really worried that West was going to cheat, and I'm not sure if he did or not because it was just alluded to vaguely. Cheating is a hard no, so it made me dislike him, but I held out hope that he would redeem himself. I have to say there was another strike against him when he sold his truck,Tillie, after promising Nova that he would keep her safe. I mean this is the truck they fell in love with in high school. And, to make things worse, what did he do with the money? He paid for a woman's plastic surgery! Yes, West had a lot to make up for if he were to get back into my good graces. The story takes a turn when Nova finds out that she's pregnant and she tells her girl friends back home, but doesn't tell West. Fortunately, his friends decide that he has to know, so they let it slip that Nova's pregnant. After he gets over his shock, his teammates help him to find a flight to get him immediately to Paris. From here things move quickly. West says he's there for her and their baby, but she has doubts that maybe he's only there for the baby. I shook my head and wondered if she would sabotage any happiness that she and West could find. Her negative self-talk was pretty pervasive while West was all in from the very beginning. West was the best kind of boyfriend who supported her every step of the way. There is angst when her father has a medical emergency, but it was also the time when Nova was able to realize that she had been pushing away her greatest love. There is some tame, fake OW drama that is handled perfectly. The story benefits from the cameos from the Burnt Clovers, especially Nova's best friend, Allegra Rousell and Derek Reiner, and it appears that they could be making appearances in future stories.
First let me start with a toast, “To beautiful past and bright futures!”
Personally, I finished it up yesterday and I loved every minute of it. It really was a Lip Smacking (5🍋) which a pleasant amount of Jalapeño (2🌶️) to spice up the story.

Here is the backstory for West and Nova: they meet when they were in college. It was a sweet world win of love that seemed to invade every aspect of their lives. Unfortunately, live came crashing down when Nova. had to head back to Paris to take care of family. Their relationship fizzled out when their lives were forced so far apart that it seemed like they would never be able to find their way back to each other.
Now, it seems that they have the chance of a life time to finally have some closure. West is riding high from a Super Bowl win during his rookie year, but when he finds that she was there everything seemed to collide. They thought one night would be enough, but it seems like their love had other plans😉.
While they are trying to get over each other, if they really mean so much to each other maybe they needed to open the doors of communication to really see if this was the end. Instead, they think push each other from their thoughts help them create a better life.
Unfortunately, it seems someone has some bad influence which leads to the reader making some conclusions as to what West actually gets up to, until he realizes that this life won’t get him what he wants.
While Nova was not going to let West back in so easily, a bit of forced proximity and determination will definitely break down her walls. I found it cute to see that they are both possessive over each other, even if that leads them down roads that might be hard to come back from. I love that they know each other’s tells but I also love how this pregnancy helps them open up about the parts of their past they were afraid to bring up before.
I highly recommend this lighthearted realistic rom-com, especially with Valentine’s Day right around the corner.
This was the first book of Gina Azzi, I liked that there are background characters from her series The Burnt Clovers Trilogy. I will definitely have to check them out sometime.
Surprised and Sacked by Gina Azzi is book two in the Knoxville Coyotes series. An angst ridden emotional tale of the romance between West Crawford and Nova Martin. There has never been anyone else for either of them but can they ever fully be together or will they always have miles between them. It is a surprise baby, second chance, found family, football romance.
“I know you don’t need me. But did you ever think that I need you?”
West is the rookie running back who has had an exceptional first season, culminating in winning the Super Bowl with the Coyotes. He is shocked to see his ex girlfriend there and all the old feelings come racing back because they’d never really gone away.
Nova and West met at college and fell in love but their journey hasn’t been an easy one. He moved to Knoxville and she had to return to France when her father had a heart attack. The long distance proved harder than they thought and they slowly drifted apart, even though they desperately missed each other. Neither have healed from the breakup.
They celebrate the team winning and spend night together. She still loves him but knows it’s over and flies back to Paris leaving him heartbroken again. He spirals out of control and parties heavily until one evening his friends let slip that Nova is pregnant. His teammates rally round him to get him to Paris.
His attempt at reuniting with her starts well but ends in a jealous altercation. Why doesn’t she want him to know about the baby and is keeping it a secret? Nova wonders if he is there for her or only because she is pregnant? There is lots of hurt and pain to work through.
“I want us to give this a chance, Nova. A real shot.”
I loved the support West had from Avery, Cohen, Talon and how Nova’s best friends Allegra, Ivy and Mckenna had her back along with her brothers. If you have read The Burnt Clovers Trilogy then you will enjoy seeing more of Derek and his band mates Mav, Levi and Jameson.
My heart went out to West when he told her about his childhood and how he tries everything but feels he’s never enough. He’s never experienced a proper family so this is his chance to belong to one. I laughed at the relationship he built with her brothers and loved the things he did to surprise Nova.
He can’t lose her again but how are they going to raise their baby living in two different countries. Could she give up all she’s done in Paris? Can they find a way to be together and both have their careers? An enjoyable read about a love that was always meant to be but events got in the way before they found their HEA.
Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.
This was such a heartwarming love story and I loved every minute of it!
Before reading this book, I had not read anything from this author before. I will definitely be checking out more of her books because I feel a kinship with her writing style. I loved the dramatic plot of the story and how everything in the story was executed.
Nova and West are such relatable and genuine characters. I fell into their story quickly and became so invested in their story. I enjoyed the character development. West has some past demons to overcome and Nova has some self discoveries to make. The secondary characters were interesting and kept the story moving.
The longing that these two had for each other was off the charts. Nova and West are so in love and are so meant to be but distance has been keeping them apart. A surprise pregnancy gives them both a jolt and they have to navigate the waters of their lives to find their happily ever after.
Overall, Gina Azzi delivers a satisfying and beautiful second-chance sports romance chock full of feels. This story was so addicting and the characters really stood out and made me take notice. The plot was compelling and the writing was awesome. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and also picking up some of this author's backlist titles!
“Me and you? We were always going to be unfinished business.”
Surprised and Sacked was unexpectedly emotional and heart-wrenching story that gave me all the feels. West and Nova undeniably loved each other, but making their relationship work with all of the obstacles in their way was difficult. When a surprise pregnancy happens after their last goodbye, it’s a game changer for this passionate couple.
“I’ve never loved anyone else. With him, it’s always been different.”
I liked Nova, but she frustrated me at times. She’s fiercely devoted to her family and to her career even at the cost of the only man she’s ever loved. West hurts her with his actions after their breakup, but once he re-appears in her life, he will not stop until he proves that he is the man that both she and their baby need.
“You’re it for me. Always were.”
West had such a big heart and while he didn’t trust or love many people, when he did, he loved hard and forever. He had had a difficult childhood so he struggled with feelings of self-worth, but that didn’t stop his determination to find a way to make a life with the woman he loved. I loved how all in West was once he found out about the pregnancy.
“I’m here, Nova. I’m in. whatever you need. Whatever you want. I got you.”
Both West and Nova had a difficult time trusting their relationship after they had destroyed it the first time, but they both never doubted the love they had for one another. The emotions between them ran the gamut and every encounter was full of passion, love, and friendship even if there was anger underneath. I loved watching them navigate the complexities of their relationship while delving into the unknown with an unexpected pregnancy.
“Just like you said, we’d have found our way back to each other. I think that will always be true.”
Surprised and Sacked was a wonderful, emotional and angsty read that I absolutely loved. These two complex characters were perfect for each other, and I loved watching them and their relationship grow and mature.
Book two in this series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. Nova and West were everything to each other in college until events placed an ocean between them. I adored the love they had for each other. Their feelings were strong and deep. This is a couple that would always find their way back to each other. In this book that happens through a final goodbye that ends up being not final at all when Nova gets pregnant. West is all in and has always loved Nova. In the in between, he goes a little off the rails. I appreciated that the author left it a little vague as to whether West actually sleeps with other women while he and Nova are apart. When he discovers that he is going to become a dad, he abandons all thoughts of trying to move on from Nova and turns his focus to winning her and making a family. West is a puppy dog and has a sweet heart while carrying a little baggage of abandonment and trauma. Nova has a supportive family in France and is making her way there. I will admit that I had a little trouble connecting with Nova. I loved West. I could not understand how she wouldn’t put more effort into him while he was giving her his all. Ultimately, she comes to her senses and they find their happy ending. They have good chemistry and some hot times in this book. West is very swoony as he woos Nova. I appreciated his maturity and determination to communicate and make their relationship work. I loved his commitment to her and the baby. My heart ached for him as he fought hard through all of Nova’s walls and was happy for him when they finally came together. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more books in this series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
West is the perfect book boyfriend! This opens with the Knoxville Coyotes having won the Superbowl, the team are on the field celebrating when Derek & Allegra (love the Burnt Clovers ties in this book) & Nova, West’s ex-girlfriend, find him to congratulate him on the win. They were all there to support him and join the team at the celebration that evening. There’s still a lot of love between West and Nova, distance broke them up when Nova had to head to Paris when her father’s heart attack required her to go home and help, and they sneak away from the celebration for a final night together. Ms. Azzi writes great sports romances, and she puts this football player through quite a bit with a spat of wild nights out after the big win and the final parting with Nova, causing his agent to step in for a course correction with a fake relationship to steady his reputation for future endorsement deals. Meanwhile Nova’s back in Paris watching on social media and determined to move on. The pregnancy is a surprise for all and while Nova discusses it with her bestie’s she doesn’t tell West. Of course, Derek lets the cat out of the bag when out with West. I loved the way the Coyotes rally around him, get him home, packed, and on the next flight to Paris, off to bond with Nova’s father before finding her out on a date, this does not go down well. West is the perfect book boyfriend, once he finds out about the pregnancy, he is there for her, staying in Paris and supporting Nova every step of the way. Their love story is addictive, this one is hard to put down, West will make you swoon as often as he’ll bring a tear to your eye and despite all the hurdles, I love his persistence to get them their happy ending. This was a great read. It started brilliantly and went on from there with me hooked every step of the way.
Azzi delivers a steamy sports romance in Surprised and Sacked. As second book in the Knoxville Coyotes Series, the story is about second chances and new beginnings, that will leave you rooting for the characters until the very end!
At the beginning of the book, we are introduced to West Crawford, a football player who has just scored the winning touchdown at the Super Bowl. As the rookie playing for the Knoxville Coyotes, West’s life is about change, he only wishes his ex was there to celebrate a milestone in his football career. It’s been five months since he last saw Nova Martin, it was the day she left him to go back to Paris for a family emergency and long distance ended what they had. But to his surprise, Nova shows up at the game ready to celebrate him one last time before heading back to Paris for good. Yet, what started off as their last night together, truly ended up turning West’s life upside down. He has been given a second chance to make things right with Nova and he won’t stop until he convinces her to give their relationship another shot.
For Nova Jeanne Martin her life has been full of ups and downs ever since a family emergency took her back to her family in Paris. It broke her heart to leave West behind, but with his career taking off being in long distance relationship wasn’t going to work. They both deserved a chance to make great things, but Nova hasn’t stopped thinking about West since the last time she saw him five months ago. Attending the Super Bowl was a last minute decision that would ultimately chance the course of her life forever. With West rapid fame, he has women thrown at him all the time and it’s hard for Nova to see that. Yet, another reason a long distance relationship can’t work between them, but she is pregnant with his baby. It could either bring them closer or push them further apart.
I truly enjoyed reading Surprised and Sacked, the chemistry between the characters was undeniable and the story had me hooked from beginning to end. We have two career-oriented people who are about to face parenthood and they go through ups and downs in order to get their happily-ever-after. I really loved reading the relationship between Nova and her family, they all had her back no matter what and accepted West in the process as well. Though he quickly proved himself to be the man that Nova can rely on and her family sees that. West has a solid friend group that kept me entertained. All in all, the ending was sweet and prefect for their story. I would highly recommend checking out this book, I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! :)
***I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.***
Surprised and Sacked is book 2 in the Knoxville Coyotes football series. In this book, the Coyotes just won the Superbowl and team member West Crawford, rookie star of the team, is surprised to see his former girlfriend, and love of his life, in the stands to witness the game. Nova and West grew apart due to distance since Nova moved home to Paris to take care of her sick father. With both their lives so busy, they eventually gave up on their relationship. But tonight, on the biggest night of his life, Nova is there to help West celebrate and for them to get the closure they never really had. Nova leaves and returns back to the life she is building in her family business and even begins to think about dating until a surprise test changes the course of her life. When West finds out what is going on, he is on the next plane to reclaim his lady and make the family he always dreamed of having. As with life, everything does not fall right back into place with West's and Nova's relationship. They must navigate commitments that were made before they were back together, the whole he lives in Knoxville, she lives in Paris thing, trust issues, health issues, and countless other things that make life interesting. This story was raw, emotional, and messy. This book sucked me right in and I was pulling for Nova and West to figure out their problems and get their HEA. West was sweet, charming, and you know that he really loved Nova and wanted to make their lives the best he could for her and their "little'. Surprised and Sacked was heartwarming, sweet, but still full of heat which made it a fun story to read.
West is a Football Hottie who fell for his forever but they seperated due to distance. He never got over her and ruined his reputation because of it. He needs to pull a PR stunt to fix it.
Nova works on her dad's winery while he's sick and after one night she finds out she's pregnant. Her life changes just like it did back in college.

This book is great. In the beginning I was kinda blah about it because it was their last night to get over it and i thought i know how this is gonna go. She ended up pregnant and in some turn of events he went to Paris to see her, that's right Paris from America. they dated in junior year and they were each others everything but they grow apart when she moves to Paris to help her dad after he had a heart attack and they grew apart. They grow closer and he makes her feel all the feels again, her trust of him builds and they grow closer, a medical emergency combined with a "scandal" puts their relationship to the test near the end but they are everything.
West is proof: If he wanted to, he would. “Surprised and Sacked” is a flirty, emotional, and swoony surprise pregnancy football romance that pulled me in with the connection of West and Nova.
West is on the Knoxville Coyotes and they have just won the Super Bowl. And there in the stands when he wins the big game is Nova, the girl who got away. West and Nova had dated when they were younger but life had separated them. And after celebrating his win together, they go their separate ways. Nova is back in Paris with her family working at their vineyard and when she starts to feel sick, she discovers she’s pregnant. And the moment West finds out, he flys out to Paris to win his girl back.
I loved West and Nova so much. They had a deep connection and it was apparent from the very first time they laid eyes on each other again. West is kind, genuine and has a big heart that was meant for Nova. He had a hard childhood with his father and then losing his mom but he built himself back up and became a football star. Nova is incredibly kind and cares deeply for her friends and her family. I love how close she is with her brothers and Dad. West and Nova had an amazing connection that ran deep and I loved how they were with each other. West always checked in with Nova to make sure she was okay and anticipated her needs as her pregnancy went on. I loved how they worked through any issues they had, it showed how much respect they had for each other. I loved their story and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
There is so much to love about Surprised and Sacked- the second book in the Knoxville Coyotes series by Gina Azzi.
It's got: ✨ Second Chances 🏈 Professional Football Player 👶 Surprise Baby and so much more goodness
West might have been the rookie on the team but he had already been tied down by love- only when a family emergency arises, instead of following West to Knoxville Nova heads to France and decides that it is too much to continue their relationship. One last night together after the big game Nova takes off again leaving West completely shattered and on a warpath to not feel- until he gets the biggest news of his life.
There was so much love between these two that it was hard to understand why they decided they couldn't work things out despite the circumstances. West loved Nova so hard that I was kind of annoyed with her for the way she acted toward him when he came to find her in France. Granted yes he had made some poor choices on his tour of heartbreak but considering that she was the one that ended things and he never once downplayed his mistakes it took me a minute to forgive her for breaking his heart- especially with how heartbreaking his past was leaving him to keep his circle very small and very close.
My heart melted with the way that West stepped up and showed with his actions that he wasn't about to bow out this time. Not only winning over Nova but the rest of her family in the process. And while there was some other bits of drama sprinkled throughout it wasn't anything that completely through their journey off track.
I was so happy that West finally found some connection with some of the guys on his team and I can't wait for more of them to fall head over heels!
West and Nova are the best kind of second chance. They we're college sweethearts until Nova is called home. To France. West had gotten his dream of playing in the NFL. Long distance just wasn't in their cards. Nova comes back to the states for a friend get together and they reconnect. Sort of. They are still.so much in love but words have been spoken and they habe lied to themselves so much that the bridge seems insurmountable. Nova is happy-ish in her new life. She has accomplished so much in a short amount of time and her brothers are finally admitting she is a valuable part of the family business. She doesn't have much time to follow West on his exploits anymore. Especially since the last time she looked, it broke her heart. But she is strong and she is determined to move on with her life. Until that little stick changes her life forever. West is denying how hurt he is. He goes off the rails. His exploits get him into more trouble than what its worth. Until he finds out. Then his devotion comes out in full force. His reaction to the fact he will become a father is what every woman dreams of. He goes to her in another country, not knowing the language to be supportive and just to be with Nova. I enjoyed this second chance surprise baby story. West stepped up but so so many mistakes along the way. Nova was skeptical about West's intentions but kept an open-ish mind to everything. They go through so much to have their HEA.
𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 is the second book in the Knoxville Coyotes series by Gina Azzi, featuring a must-read surprise baby/second chance romance for West and Nova. They were meant to be together, but life is always pulling them apart. She left him to care for her sick father, but returned for one night of celebration when he won the Super Bowl. The way she left that time sent him into a spiral. Now they are worlds apart with a secret hanging between them. Will the love that still burns there be enough to overcome all the obstacles they face?
Oh, West!! He won my heart so fast!! The depth of the emotion rolling off that character will rock you! That man needed family to call his own, and he felt any kind of rejection so deeply, that I felt it.😢 I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put the book down for every bit of drama or surprise. I loved the connection between West and Nova that was beyond the chemistry, though they had the spice going for them as well. An awesome found family vibe flows with teammates and other friends, bringing support, fun, witty banter, and glimpses of fan favorites like Derek and Allegra.😍 This fictional world is proving to be a blast! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶
Surprised & Sacked is the second book in the Knoxville Coyotes series, and is a second-chance, surprise pregnancy romance for West and Nova. They reconnect for one night after the Coyotes win the Super Bowl, and while it's clear they still love one another, their lives are in different places now. But fate has other plans for them when Nova discovers she is pregnant...
I enjoyed West and Nova's reunion. It was clear that she wanted more than just to be West's WAG, and he went above and beyond to prove to Nova how much she meant to him. West didn't have the best childhood, so he has some concerns about whether or not he has what it takes to be a good dad; I really enjoyed that added dimension to his character.
I had an issue with this story, however. Their breakup happened several months before the Super Bowl; they just kind of grew apart when Nova went back home to Paris to help with her family's vineyard after her father got ill. I wish that that had been a "show" rather than a "tell" because I felt like I was missing backstory.
But overall, I enjoyed this story. It's pretty low angst, and I read it easily on a rainy afternoon. West is one of Cohen's teammates from book 1, so there is that connection, and although I haven't read Gina Azzi's rockstar series, Nova is friends with the band from those books.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Once again, Gina Azzi has captivated me with her latest book in the Knoxville Coyotes Football series. The second book, is a heartwarming and passionate second-chance romance between West and Nova, exceeded my expectations. Ms Azzi raised her storytelling (if that was possible), delivering a storyline that goes beyond the synopsis's promises.
West and Nova's journey is not a smooth one, filled with challenging obstacles that seem insurmountable. The synopsis provides a glimpse into their background, but it doesn't truly capture the depth and emotional richness of their unfolding story. True love, as the saying goes, is not without its hurdles, and this couple faces their fair share. Yet, the opportunity for a second chance with a soul mate is a powerful force, no matter the distance and overcoming every bump in the road.
In this story, West shines as a standout MC, becoming one of my favourite book boyfriends this year. Nova, with her unwavering commitment to doing the right thing, adds a sweet and endearing touch to the tale. The chemistry between them lights up the pages, creating a captivating and swoon-worthy sports romance.
Gina Azzi's storytelling prowess is evident, making this a must-read for fans of flawless sports romances. The storyline not only delivers on the romantic front but also introduces compelling side characters that enhance the overall reading experience. For anyone seeking a perfect blend of sports, romance, and a touch of swoon, this book is a definite recommendation.

This was a brilliantly written second chance, surprise baby romance. One that you can't ever logistically see working but know deep down there is no other option. This is a fast-paced read, and everything happens pretty quickly. There is minimal drama, and that was very refreshing.
West and Nova are meant to be and will both fight for what they want. And at points, I felt that could have been both separately as well as together. They are both great characters and had a spark that was undeniable. Football took a back seat in this book with much of it taking part in Paris. But the team spirit was very much present, especially from their friends and family.
This book is a great read, and I really recommend it.
“with Nova, with our baby, I don’t want to misstep. I want to be the kind of man they both can rely on.”

West and Nova had the type of love you only find once. But unfortunately life put them through tough times and they broke apart. Him with football and her with family in another country. After West wins the Super Bowl he’s getting his one more moment with Nova as she traveled to see him play. Their night together only heightens their passion and love. They thought they had their bit of closure until Nova finds out she’s pregnant. Now, West makes the decision to win her back and keep her no matter what it takes.
West loved nothing and no one more than Nova. It was evident in the way he treated her. I enjoyed his character but was less than thrilled when he went on his bender after what he thought was over with Nova. Although not in page, it is implied the antics he’s up to. Once he was back with Nova and got his act together, it was hard not to like him. I enjoyed Nova but she was a little cold at times. She pulled and pushed West, which you can understand but I wanted her to make up her mind. Overall the book was enjoyable and I loved the ending and would recommend it.
"Another great book by Gina, she is one author I know I can count on to make me have all the feels, and that she seems to love writing sports romance novels, well, there was no way I was missing out on reading this book. I just adored both Nova & West in this story. I do tend to like one main character over the other when I am reading, but both of these characters brought so much to the book, I definitely couldn't favour one over the other. But honestly, there were several times throughout the story I struggled to see how these two could make it. There was more than one obstacle in their way, but I obviously should have put more faith in Gina, because by the end of the book I knew that what they went through could not have been written any other way. My heart was overflowing with all the emotions I was left feeling by the end, but it was most certainly worth the rollercoaster it went through." ~Sharon
I loved West & Nova! I love sports romances and have been on a hockey kick so reading a football romance was perfect timing. This was a sweet and very lightly angsty romance. The chemistry and connection between the MCs was very real and very sweet. Really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book. Definitely recommend! ~Andrea
I can always count on Ms Azzi to put a smile on my face and make me feel all the feels. Surprised and Sacked is book two of her Knoxville Coyotes Football series and it is a second-chance romance that is beautifully written, full of emotions and will have you loving West and Nova. West and Nova have had so much history and now that West has won the Superbowl, the one person he has loved for years but left to go to Paris is back and standing right in front of him, Nova. She has occupied his heart and mind since the day they met but life threw them a curve and hearts were broken. Now they have one night to spend together as Nova returns to Paris to help run her family's vineyard. Assumptions are made, conclusions are incorrect and hearts are broken yet again but now there is a surprise that throws everyone in a whirlwind of emotions. West is determined to prove to Nova that no matter what he is there and not leaving. However, Nova jumps to conclusions yet again and all hell breaks loose. Can the two of them communicate and get past the problems that arise? Will they see that what they have is forever and no matter who or what gets in the way their love is too strong to break? Nova and West's story is one that is addictive and a must-read.
I really loved Nova and West’s story. West and Nova were in love had been dating since college until Nova’s father had a heart attack and she had to return to Paris to help him and with the family business. Unfortunately, this caused them to eventually break out due to the distance, but neither one of them stopped loving the other – they just knew that they had to move on. When the Coyotes won the Super Bowl, Nova was there, and she and West spent one final night together. But she left the next morning before he woke up with a note saying it was time to move on. West went a little nuts and partied like a rock star trying to get over the pain.
Nova had returned to Paris and weeks later realized she was pregnant, and West found out. He dropped everything to go to Paris to be with her. This whole part of the book was soooo sweet…. On how he convinced her to take another chance on him and let him be with her AND their little.
Of course, nothing ever is easy as some of the commitments that West had agreed to come back to bite him in the butt….
Great story! Loved it from beginning to end!
I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In Surprised and Sacked, Gina Azzi introduces readers to West and Nova once a couple, but now have thousands of miles between them.
Nova and West were college sweethearts, until her family and his career sent them in different directions. They parted amicably, however after he won the Super Bowl with his team the Knoxville Coyotes and Nova was there to congratulate him, she went back to Paris with more than memories of the night they spent together.
I wasn’t too sure about this couple, as they were written kind of boring in a way. I’m not sure how to explain it and it sounds kind of mean, but I wanted some more drama or angst for them. The “surprise” was a surprise for about five pages and then it was full steam ahead for these two to try and make it work.
The book was well written and easy if that makes any sense. There are a few dust ups, but nothing major really. Along with our main characters, we have team members and family to round out the storyline. The book reads as a standalone with a little peek into the future.
West Crawford is a running back for the Knoxville Coyotes. He's in his rookie season and they just won the Super Bowl which has been his biggest dream. He's happy he won but also disappointed that Nova isn't there to see it.
Nova Martin and West grew apart at the beginning of his season when she decided to move back to Paris to take care of her dad and their vineyard. The distance was just too much for their relationship. West is shocked to see Nova with their friends at his game. They end up spending the night together to bring closure but it brings so much more. She leaves before he gets up leaving him a letter. "It's too hard to say goodbye again."
Once Nova is back in Paris and working at the vineyard she has a night out with a friend and she feels ill. When she gets home and is talking with her girlfriends they suggest she could be pregnant and she is. "I still love him"
West finds out Nova is pregnant from his friends and decides it's time to go to Paris. He will do anything to bring them back together but there's a lot standing in the way. Will they find a way?
