when you should be reading actual books but you keep reading fanfiction..... lmao whoops

ok so this was written by the author of the best fic I have ever read: The Fallout. So I had to read this one, especially since it was hogwarts era, which is my shit. They are my favorite kind of fanfictions and they're usually the same thing over and over but like I never get bored with them so...

This, similar to The Fallout, was heavy on plot. And that is the main focus in the beginning. Hermione, Draco, Justin, and Padma have to solve this problem in Hogwarts together, thus promoting house unity or whatever. But yeah this is the main focus of the story, and the Draco and Hermione love story is kind of the background story.

Spoiler, be warned: they don't actually kiss until 4/5 of the way through the book. So it's a long time t wait, and they didn't actually have a lot of sections with just the two of them alone in the beginning and middle. so ehhh. Also, the ending is really really really rushed and it kind of leaves you going like 'what just happened'

Obviously this is super well written, but this is one of Sage's earlier fics so there's more typos than in her other ones, but it's still really good. Love, love , love her characterization of Draco in all of her fics, it's exactly what I picture Redeemed!Draco as.

"Everyone in the world was looking for something. It was just a matter of realizing that they were all finders, and sometimes, it found you."

There's a reason everythursday/sage is my favorite Dramione fic author. She really knows how to write stories that will keep you on edge and make you not want to stop reading.

I’ve been meaning to read everythursday again because I enjoyed The Fallout so much, but it wasn’t until I saw someone mention Finders on Twitter that I decided to make that happen. They commented on an aspect that sounded really interesting to me, so I didn’t waste too much time hunting it down and starting it. If I had to say which one I liked better, I would probably go with The Fallout, but I loved these fics each for different reasons and there were things that worked more for me in each fic.

Anyway, moving on to just Finders now, I really enjoyed it! It was full of a lot of mystery, action, adventure, and suspense — there was never a dull moment! There were tense moments, scary ones, and times when I was on the edge of my seat, clutching something to myself, biting my lip and wondering what was going to happen and how everyone was going to make it all in one piece. While I’ll always take more Dramione, I didn’t mind that this wasn’t super Dramione heavy because while we don’t get a ton of them as a couple, we get a ton of their fighting/banter which was fun. Finders was just excellent and I’m looking forward to reading even more from everythursday!

***Slight spoilers***

This story was very interesting and the first half it of really sucked me! The middle took a slow turn and it actually began to get a bit boring but that’s probably because Hermonie and Draco’s relationship began to get more heated. Those parts were okay but not mind blowing like how Sage wrote in Fallout. I still enjoyed their banters of course. Classic. Justin was a beautiful little bonus because he was too adorable. I enjoyed him in Fallout so to have him in this story was a real treat. Him and Draco’s interactions were hilarious. I always felt that Hufflepuff’s and Slytherins made a great combo. :)
The ending was unfortunately a huge let down because it was so rushed. It took me a couple of weeks to get through that whole stoned dungeon part and minutes to finish the end hahaha. It was like wait...hold up...what? Sage takes her time with her storytelling so I’m surprised the ending was so quick! Still a great story and I loved how it was set in Hogwarts with their 8th year too.

could have taken 250-300 pages instead of 400+ it took, seemed unnecessarily dragged

The only reason why I'm only giving it 3.5 stars is because the ending felt rushed and Dramione's arc felt underdeveloped.

It dragged a bit so as a book it can use editing because the serialized aspect of fanfiction writing is very conspicuous. Also, not too much of the emotional prose that I like everythursday for.
The dialogue is alright. I think it's mostly plot-driven. idk I am just kinda irritated that how the device got disturbed isn't found out because i wanted to direct my anger to a villain. Also, i think for how smart they all are, it took way too long to figure out that it might have been a war disturbance to the protective magic of Hogwarts (although the fact that it didn't affect everyone at Hogwarts might have deterred them from coming to that conclusion).
I think this is most similar to The Fallout out of all their books, or maybe it's just Justin's presence and horribly brutal and never-ending battles in both.
Also, I think I always talk about how much I like everythursday's Draco but I was just thinking about Hermione this entire book. Obviously, I already love Hermione in canon (it's obvious in comparison to canon Draco which is more of love for the potential of his character). everythursday's Hermione is likeable-y quirky and dorkily funny. I think in this book, she is braver, stronger and less pathetic (can't think of a weaker adjective) than The Fallout Hermione (altho tbf TF Hermione is in the middle of a war). ehh i like Hermione, okay?

Although the rating seems low, I still enjoyed reading it obviously. everythursday you sorceress (gender-neutral).
Only Parade of the Sun and Kingdom besides the Sea are left to read and I'm kinda bummed that there's not more stuff from them. I should have probably paced myself but I guess I can always reread. (Not sure if it's the best idea to read KbtS last since it's already emotional (i think) and Draco's pov. Would I ever recover from that being the last everythursday book I read?

This author is an artist. They develop the characters slowly, develop the tension between them and MOST importantly, have a huge, strong plot backing the story. Unlike many Dramione fics, the plot in this one isn't based around trying to get the characters together.
I started reading this fic and got stuck after the first few paragraphs. I haven't been this intrigued by a fic since God of the Lost ( :( which was left incomplete argh). What I am surprised about most though is how EveryThursday managed to make Hermione's personality to different in Finders compared to The Fallout. In the Finders she's truly very brave (an embodiment of Gryffindor?) and like-ably quirky.

Summary:
Might contain spoilers...idk, I feel like the first chapter explains most of this:
Hermione begins experiencing hallucinations which most students do not. There is the question of what the magic is/who or what produced it, why...etc. And there is the ever present threat something much happen which could put them in danger.

Beautifully written, this author is a true artist!
