If your looking form your next dark cowboy you need. To start this book as soon as possible! Saffron A Kent has written one of my favorite ever dark cowboy books ever. This can be read as standalone but i promise you want to start from book 1.
Book 2 follows our main characters Peyton turner and her cowboy stalker. I loved how saffron did a full circle moment so everything connected from the first book branded which was so amazing to witness and read!!
You get to see every event and moment that lead to branded and then the present for these two!!
If you are looking for a deep love story thats emotional spicy AF banter between the both and a obsessive cowboy that doesn’t talk but for her ay will burn the whole entire world down then you need to pick this one up. A COWBOY THATS HELLA TALL AND INTOO ROPE PLAY AND KNOWS HIS ROPES ;)

One of my favorite reads of the year infinity stars i need every single special edition. I loved them so much i have reread this book twice maybe three times. The world building the character development the found family everything tied in to make such an amazing dark cowboy series!!

Honestly this was a hair darker than I anticipated!

I'm so sorry I could not get through this. The first thing that set me off was the "33B cup size" which is not a standard size and threw me off. Then was how CHILDISH the FMC was. Finally, was just how poorly written this was. I could not put myself in the story, it's like everything else but the actual scene itself was overly descriptive. I want to hear about the atmosphere of the bar or the sense that her stalker is in the room watching her, but instead all I got was how big his hands were, how hard his abs were, and how his green eyes reminded her of every green things she had ever seen in her life. Yeah.... no not for me

I was so excited for Peyton and Rad’s story after Branded, but this fell a little flat for me. There was a lot (A LOT) of internal monologuing that seemed very repetitive and made me start to skim around the 40% mark. I finally locked back in and got interested again around 80% when the plot developed.
Peyton seemed bada** in Branded, but seemed to act more like a child in this book. I understand that’s part of being a brat, but it seemed to be more than that. I loved Rad’s character and seeing Peyton help him get past his trauma, but I just didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between these two.
The spice was spicing, and I did love me the possessive cowboy that Rad was. Thank you to Forever/Grand Central Publishing for the ARC!!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

4 ⭐️ ARC • Guys, I loved this one so much more than the first one!!! Long review coming with spoilers, so beware.
Before we get into it/my standard disclaimer: this is a dark romance, so consume your media responsibly and check the content warnings! It was not the darkest one I have ever read, but this is my opinion & incredibly subjective, so please make your own informed decisions.
I remember that I was FERAL for a book about Rad & Peyton after seeing the hints of them in the first book, BRANDED. I am still really, really intrigued about Mars & Haven, and I hope that if we get another book, it will be about them (I was dropping little highlights about my ~suspicions~ for other couples). But this book about Rad & Peyton was everything that I wanted.
Tropes (including but not limited to): dark cowboy romance, stalker romance, kidnapping/captive, masked & scarred MMC (with a disability), age gap (12 years), sassy FMC, primal/chasing scenes, rope play, protective and possessive (both of them!)
First, I effing loved Peyton. You see only one side of her from Riri’s POV in the first book, but this one adds so much depth to this poor girl. She is strong, determined, & much more resilient than she will get credit for. She is fiercely protective and loyal, ready to fight anyone or do whatever it takes for her friend. She is traumatized from everything she endured growing up, but she made it into her strengths without letting it make her (too) afraid. She also feels more mature without it being unrealistic – with everything she survived and was juggling, it made sense. Riri might be the “responsible” one in their friendship duo, but Peyton is, to me, the most mature.
Second, I also loved Rad. You know some of what happened to him from the first book, but this one expands on the wreckage that it really left behind in his life and how he dealt with it. Also, Rad is exactly how I like my MMCs in dark romances like this – he is very morally gray, and he does bad things (and you understand it), but at the core, he is beyond loving and protective of Peyton. He silently & instinctively takes care of her at every turn (even during the kidnapping, but walk with me here when you find out why he did it) & he sees beyond the front she puts up. They understand each other on a very deep level, and that undercuts a lot of places where I thought there was going to be miscommunication.
These two sold to me the depth of their connection. You read everything they go through together, the way they open up to each other, and the longing of it all made me root for them. They both are harder and angrier – they have both survived things that have made them more vengeful, and that adds to their deep understanding of each other. (SPOILERS) An important element for me was that while he was stalking her at the beginning, Peyton *knew* he was watching her, knew who he was (kinda, because she saw him when he saved her that first time), could sense when he was there, and she was into it. She has more agency than you would think going into this, even from the beginning and despite the circumstances. Truthfully, I wanted *more* sex scenes (I cannot believe I am saying that lol) but what we got was hot, and Saffron, thank you very much for changing the language you used for these scenes (iykyk).
Peyton, understandably, has never felt safe – especially not around men – until Rad. I will admit, I got a little emo when she admitted to herself that she longed for that protection from Rad – when you spend your whole life knowing no one is coming to save you, building yourself up to save yourself at every turn, of course it is so relieving to have someone come in and offer up that protection freely, instinctively, genuinely. And she is equally protective and possessive about him, albeit in a different (but no less touching) way.
We also finally get some more answers about what is going on at the Rawhide Ranch (re: the prisoner program) and more background about the feud between families. I agree with Haven and Peyton and the others that it really is a stupid thing (the greed, property wars, the endless fighting, etc.) but (unfortunately) I do believe that people (re: the men in this book) are like this about money and property and power. (*BIG* SPOILER) Another point that I was happy about is that two of these villains are GONE by the end of the book. I can see the little hints to what might be the crux of the conflict in the next books. I do like that the story will grow organically with the next couple, and it is not the same Big Bad Threat following them throughout the books. Also realistic, because I cannot see Rad (or Petyon, lol) letting a threat like that linger over their heads.
So, TL;DR: I liked this one MUCH more than the first book. I think the characters are more compelling, their relationship builds in a great way, the dark romance had the elements I look for in a dark romance, & the pacing was good and the spicy scenes were hot.

I don't know what Saffron A. Kent puts in these dark cowboy books, but they are addictive. Branded was the first book in this world followed by Roped. Both total standalones, but you do meet the MCs in this book in the first one. Don't worry. You can jump right into Roped with no issues. These cowboys are dark with broken pasts and a rivalry with a certain family that motivates them in the most troubling ways.
Peyton is a Turner princess (or so they call her) and the Graysons want nothing more than to take down the Turners since they've been burned by them over and over through the years. What better way than to have eyes on Peyton until they are ready to take her hostage. And Rad, the masked and scarred man is just the guy for the job. But he becomes literally obsessed with his target. When she puts herself in danger, he's always there. The masked man that will save her from not only herself, but also her father.
After meeting these characters in the previous book, I was curious about Peyton's story. She's young and feisty and pushes buttons. But I didn't expect certain things about her since she's very outspoken. Rad pulls these things out of her in the most unexpected ways. They are total opposites and he doesn't want to bring his hurt to her life, but these two are obsessed with one another. In every sense of the word. Physically, mentally and fiercely. They are protective of one another when they should be anything but with their families histories.
Even though I did enjoy this story, I found it was repetitive and predictable. I found the chemistry between the MCs to be mostly physical and didn't really believe they had a true emotional connection. But that didn't stop me from highlighting many passages and enjoying the heck out of Rad. Peyton was obviously young and you can tell. I think my favorite thing about these two was how they got each other riled up and how Peyton loved Rad's "flaws". I also found the story unnecessarily long, but like I said, I still enjoyed the journey these two took us on that focused on a rivalry that they ended up breaking with their attraction.

A good stalker romance is always needed, and Saffron definitely delivered! Radisson and Peyton were the perfect contrast, and I really loved their dynamic together. There were quite a few repeated moments and thoughts that pulled me out of the story at times, but overall, I liked this one!

After stalking our FMC and she finding out her best friend is missing, our MMC kidnaps her and she just happens to be the daughter of a long time rival family of his. Now she thinks he’s behind her kidnapping too.
There is so much crazy, unhinged-ness in this and I ate it up 👏
I love a dark romance, and I love a cowboy romance - there really is no better combo. Kent’s writing is unique, and I always enjoy it.

This was my first Saffron A. Kent book. Yes, I should have started with Branded, but I couldn’t help myself. Will I go back to read it? Of course I will.
Now… Is this unhinged? Yes. Do we like stalkers in real life? Of course we don’t. But as a girl who can separate fact from fiction… I have to admit I wouldn’t mind being stalked by Radisson.
Yep. I said it.
"So there’s a man, see. A man who watches me. Who watches my every move, follows me to places. Stalks me from afar."
Peyton is very aware there’s someone watching her every move. She can feel him watching her, lingering outside her house, just… there. But she’s not scared. And why, do you ask? Because there was one night when he jumped at the chance to save her and, without him, things could have taken a much darker turn.
"For someone who’d never been saved before, I found it. . .lovely. I thought it was the most breathtaking thing he could’ve done for me. It made me feel cherished."
She feels drawn to him. She hadn’t even seen his face since he wore a mask that one time, but he was unforgettable anyway.
Now that her best friend’s gone missing, she can’t help but wonder if this mysterious man had something to do with it. And she’s willing to bait him to make sure.
"I know I shouldn’t let thrill race down my spine or get flutters in my belly at this, not after everything I know now, but I can’t help it. I can’t help how my body reacts to him."
I’m not here to spoil anything for you, so let’s just say she (unsurprisingly) gets kidnapped by this stranger. He’s really not the chatty type, and he’s older but also protective, wanting to take care of her.
Especially since no one has before.
"So you wanna play with me, Princess, you better be ready to pay the price. Or learn to run really fuckin’ fast so I don’t catch you."
There’s a lot of tension and chemistry between them from the start. Radisson is absolutely obsessed with her, but Peyton wants him right back. However, things are not that simple. There are past issues to deal with, scars that are both physical and psychological, and a bit of (understandable) mistrust too.
"Did you think I’d be scared of you? Of what you look like? Because I’m not. I’m not like other people. Your scar doesn’t scare me. Your scar doesn’t define who you are. Not in my eyes."
My favorite thing was watching them come closer. I love how they shared their secrets. I loved how open they became about everything. And yes, I did love her being a brat, and you can bet Rad loved it even more!
"You’re mine to save. You’re mine to protect. Mine to avenge. Mine to kill for; mine to wreak havoc for. Mine to burn the world for; mine to declare war for. You’re. Fuckin’. Mine."
The steamy scenes were everything I was hoping they would be, and they're so good together. It’s the way he wants to make sure she feels wanted and the way she wants him to understand she sees who he really is.

This was my first Saffron A. Kent book. Yes, I should have started with Branded, but I couldn’t help myself. Will I go back to read it? Of course I will.
Now… Is this unhinged? Yes. Do we like stalkers in real life? Of course we don’t. But as a girl who can separate fact from fiction… I have to admit I wouldn’t mind being stalked by Radisson.
Yep. I said it.

Peyton is very aware there’s someone watching her every move. She can feel him watching her, lingering outside her house, just… there. But she’s not scared. And why, do you ask? Because there was one night when he jumped at the chance to save her and, without him, things could have taken a much darker turn.
"For someone who’d never been saved before, I found it. . .lovely. I thought it was the most breathtaking thing he could’ve done for me. It made me feel cherished."
She feels drawn to him. She hadn’t even seen his face since he wore a mask that one time, but he was unforgettable anyway.
Now that her best friend’s gone missing, she can’t help but wonder if this mysterious man had something to do with it. And she’s willing to bait him to make sure.
"I know I shouldn’t let thrill race down my spine or get flutters in my belly at this, not after everything I know now, but I can’t help it. I can’t help how my body reacts to him."
I’m not here to spoil anything for you, so let’s just say she (unsurprisingly) gets kidnapped by this stranger. He’s really not the chatty type, and he’s older but also protective, wanting to take care of her.
Especially since no one has before.
"So you wanna play with me, Princess, you better be ready to pay the price. Or learn to run really fuckin’ fast so I don’t catch you."
There’s a lot of tension and chemistry between them from the start. Radisson is absolutely obsessed with her, but Peyton wants him right back. However, things are not that simple. There are past issues to deal with, scars that are both physical and psychological, and a bit of (understandable) mistrust too.
"Did you think I’d be scared of you? Of what you look like? Because I’m not. I’m not like other people. Your scar doesn’t scare me. Your scar doesn’t define who you are. Not in my eyes."
My favorite thing was watching them come closer. I love how they shared their secrets. I loved how open they became about everything. And yes, I did love her being a brat, and you can bet Rad loved it even more!
"You’re mine to save. You’re mine to protect. Mine to avenge. Mine to kill for; mine to wreak havoc for. Mine to burn the world for; mine to declare war for. You’re. Fuckin’. Mine."
The steamy scenes were everything I was hoping they would be, and they're so good together. It’s the way he wants to make sure she feels wanted and the way she wants him to understand she sees who he really is.

If your looking for a morally grey MMC who is based and stalks his woman and can recount down to the minute since he laid eyes on her this then is your book! I enjoyed seeing Radisson’s character in Branded and was glad to see him get his own book despite not being an actual Grayson brother. This book does follow Branded and I do feel you get more out of the story having read the first book but I absolutely think you can read this as a stand alone. The first 30-40% of the book basically is told from the same timeline as branded so you don’t feel lost and you get Peyton Turner and Rads POV from those events. Peyton is the “Turner Princess” who they were actually after in book 1.
For those who didn’t read Branded I’ll make it simple. You get a Hatfield and McCoy-like family feud between The Graysons and The Turners. A tragic event occurred to Rads family and he’s out for revenge against Hank Turner- Peyton’s horrid excuse of a father. This man is vile. (Check TW before starting as this has dark content mention)
My thoughts: I enjoyed the captor x captive trope. It was almost a cat and mouse game as she knew she was being watched and did things just for him. Rad is so obsessed and protective of her despite her being the daughter of his mortal enemy. I did feel the plot was slow in certain parts and some of the dialogue repetitive. A few times their dialogue made me cringe and pulled me out of the plot. The over use of the words “big” and “large” used to describe Rad… I felt like I read it in every other page. This is a slowburn as they don’t get horizontal till around 73% but the filthy mouth that Rad has on him stokes the fire until their chemistry explodes. The spicy scenes were hot and I enjoyed those. I love primal and rope play and there were plenty of other spicy Microtropes to enjoy.
I love romantic suspense and I feel like the story line could have really leaned more into this but to me it fell a little flat. I had guessed correctly who was behind the trouble being caused. I was surprised by the truth a certain sister and hat added a lot to the overall story of leaving the past behind and starting fresh. I would have like to seen the villains get their due on page. This was the part that felt anticlimactic. This is just my hot take of how I felt in the moment reading. I did enjoy the reconciliation between Rad and Peyton after what had happened and how he had left things with her after she professed her love. He needs to grovel a little and I enjoyed that part. I enjoyed the found family aspect and the healing journey for not only Rad and Lennie but also Peyton and her brother. The epilogue circled back to what Rad had promised would happened and I enjoyed that. If you like morally grey men who will burn the world down for their woman while also keeping her tied to his bed then you’ll want to add Roped to your TBR.

3-3.25-3.5 ⭐️ (indecision!)
Roped is the book about Peyton and Radisson, the best friend and cousin, respectively, of the couple in the first book set in this world, Branded. I believe overall I enjoyed this book better than that one, though my memory for details is not great. I re-read my review of that book and could almost write the same exact thoughts about this one.
I liked this couple and their obsession with each other and his stalking of her. I liked that he was mostly quiet and his backstory (when it is finally fully revealed). As usual, I liked the steam and the dirty talk (though it kind of felt toned down for an SAK book, possibly?) and the nicknames (though those and the heroine repeating things back to the hero was lesser than in SAK books past - both good things in this case). This one also read less choppily than book one ended up feeling by the end.
However, similar to book one, the development and explanation for the family feud, the side characters and life on the ranch itself is not enough. Seeing/hearing about side characters just enough to glean what the tropes were or will be for their respective books is not enough to create emotional connections to those characters (between the main couple and them or the reader and them)- people who are supposed to be heavily impacting and motivating the main couple's lives. It does not realize them as characters over just cardboard cutouts told to us from the main couple's inner monologue, which is... prevalent.
Nearly everything that happens is told to us by their dual POV inner monologue, not shown as actual scenes. Because this author's voice/style is interesting and always something I've enjoyed, it doesn't read as badly as most telling vs. showing books, but the balance is still off. There are several ideas told in one or two sentences where I thought, "I would have liked to have seen this scene, heard what conversation they would have had and what the environment looked like".
In some cases overall feud/mystery plot elements are glossed over because they happened in the first book, or I suspect will be gone over in future books, and those parts read with a weird "something is missing here" feeling I suspect will be worse for someone who never read book one. Together with the overall underdevelopment, predictability and "sudden solving" of the mystery elements that are unique to this couple, the series-arching feud/ranch story elements are the weak side of the book.
The key part of the book, the romance, is entertaining enough if you like this author's insta-love/obsession and complete focus on the main couple style. On my scale it's not really a dark romance but if you are more used to traditional contemporary romances there are some dark-ish elements that might make it one for you.
Despite their minimal mention, I am intrigued by the married couple in these books, so despite a review of what seems like mostly negatives (easier to call attention to!) I am looking forward to seeing what in the world is going on with them.

There was never any question whether I was going to read Roped. Branded was one of my favorite books of 2025, and I couldn’t wait to get back into Saffron Kent’s twisted cowboy world, especially for Rad and Peyton’s story.
If you haven’t read Branded, I’d recommend starting there. While Roped overlaps with some of the same timeline rather than simply taking place after it, I think you’ll have a much richer reading experience knowing the larger world of rival families, revenge, land claims, and the Grayson family dynamics first.
That said, this book is much less about expanding that world and much more about Rad’s obsession with Peyton.
And honestly? I was completely okay with that.
Rad quickly became one of my favorite Saffron Kent heroes. He’s quiet, scarred, emotionally tortured, and absolutely consumed by Peyton. His “touch her and die” energy practically radiates off every page, and I loved watching this man wrestle with his need to protect her even when every piece of their family history tells him he should stay away.
Because that's really the heart of their relationship.
Rad is carrying wounds from his past that have convinced him Peyton is the one woman he can never have, no matter how impossible it is to stay away from her. Peyton, meanwhile, can't understand why she's so drawn to the very man she's convinced she should fear. That constant push and pull between forbidden attraction, danger, and undeniable longing made this romance impossible for me to put down.
Their chemistry was incredible.
There’s an almost fated-mates quality to the way these two keep circling each other, even when both know how complicated and wrong it should be. Peyton’s fascination with Rad works because Saffron leans fully into the darker psychology of their relationship. She gets off on the fear, but somehow he’s also the person who makes her feel safest, and that contradiction made their dynamic so addictive.
Peyton was also exactly the kind of heroine I enjoy. She isn’t intimidated by Rad for long, stands up to him when it matters, and never loses her voice even when he’s trying to take control. When these two finally put their hearts on the line, I was highlighting entire pages.
Where I struggled a bit was with how this book fit into the larger series. Because parts of Roped overlap with the timeline of Branded, I expected a little more clarity around how the events connected and perhaps more page time with the other characters. Instead, this is very much Rad and Peyton’s book, with the broader family feud and revenge plot serving more as the backdrop for their forbidden romance.
Even so, I never found myself wanting less of them.

Every scene screamed, “Look at her wrong and I’ll bury you where nobody will ever find you,” and I ate up every single second of it.
His obsession with Peyton is equal parts heartbreaking and unhinged. He believes she’s the one person he’ll never be allowed to have, yet he physically cannot stay away from her. Meanwhile, Peyton can’t decide if she wants to run from him…or straight into his arms. The tension between them is downright criminal.
Saffron A. Kent has such a talent for writing relationships that feel dangerous without ever losing the emotional core. Peyton is fascinated by the very man who terrifies her, yet somehow he’s also the place she feels safest. It’s twisted, addictive, and impossible to stop reading.
And Peyton? I loved her. She doesn’t shrink herself to make Rad comfortable, pushes back when he needs it, and refuses to let him steamroll her. Give me a stalker romance with an utterly obsessed cowboy and a gorgeous college student with a spicy age gap, suspense and an absolute relentless yearning and angst and heat for days and I am there for it! Roped by Saffron Kent is book two in her dark cowboy romance and omg was it so good!
Radisson and Peyton. Couldn't be two more opposite people. Their families, The Turners and The Graysons have been rival ranches and enemies for decades. These two were brought up to hate each other’s families. Peyton Turner, the princess. Grew up wealthy yet totally alone. And went through so much hidden trauma. Yet she always put up a front. She genuinely always showed a kindness and happy personality, so selfless to those she loves. No one truly knew deep down the struggles she faced. Radisson King, this man. So many words to describe him. Broken, lonely, broody. A TRAGIC past, his parents died at age 15 and he suffered a TBI that forever changed him. So much trauma from that. His beautiful face scarred and has allowed it to define him, thought to be a “monster” by the world and he accepted that title. But he’s so much more! Sent to follow her, this man becomes absolutely obsessed with her. So protective, her silent guardian angel but she equally has become completely obsessed with him. And through circumstances, these two are thrown together. And omg. Their banter is perfect. The way she shows him such a pure and unconditional love even though he fights it so hard is beautiful. Add in my favorite hot age gap. Their angst and chemistry is pure fire. The push and pull until they finally give all in will have you dying for them to finally get together!! And when they do, my favorite, all the firsts and all for him. And this man’s mouth, so dirty and so delicious! Soooo worth the wait!
This book is deliciously DARK and a roller coaster of emotions. These two were inevitable. Between the danger, twisted secrets, and relentless tension, it becomes a story of healing, redemption, forgiveness and a love so consuming it becomes the only way to survive. I hope we get more of this series! I want the other brothers’ stories please!!

And through circumstances, these two are thrown together. And omg. Their banter is perfect. The way she shows him such a pure and unconditional love even though he fights it so hard is beautiful. Add in my favorite hot age gap. Their angst and chemistry is pure fire. The push and pull until they finally give all in will have you dying for them to finally get together!! And when they do, my favorite, all the firsts and all for him. And this man’s mouth, so dirty and so delicious! Soooo worth the wait!
This book is deliciously DARK and a roller coaster of emotions. These two were inevitable. Between the danger, twisted secrets, and relentless tension, it becomes a story of healing, redemption, forgiveness and a love so consuming it becomes the only way to survive. I hope we get more of this series! I want the other brothers’ stories please!!

I had to think about this one. Roped is definitely a lot heavier and more emotionally loaded than Branded. ( Saffron wrote this in a way where you’d be okay not having read Branded first, but if you haven’t yet… it completely worth reading it).
It deals with many issues, mental, emotional as well as physical. But also in a way that pulls you in, you feel what these characters are going through.
That being said… this is SAK we’re talking about. She knows how to keep you coming back . She’ll break your heart and you’ll beg her for more. Peyton and Rad will steal your heart. Mush it up just a bit, but hand it back better than before.
It’s a story about two slightly dented (not quite broken although they think they are) people, whose dark bits call to each other. The scary monster and damsel, the hunter and the prey, the stalker and his obsession, the phantom…and his Princess …
It’s a bit of a slow burn but in the sense, you still feel the heat from the embers although the fire doesn’t get going until you’ve put some time into it and stoked those flames. I honestly don’t know how to explain without giving spoilers 🤣. And I don’t want to do that. I’ll tell you this though. Rad is my new favourite bedroom potty mouth 🫦.
It’s a beautiful, crazy, smutty, wholesome mishmash of good people, broken bits, protective cowboys, plot twists, what family really is, healing, love… and ropes 😈.

Roped had me white-knuckling my headphones through the spice and checking my phone battery through everything else.
Peyton Turner keeps catching a masked, scarred stranger watching her from the shadows in a black Stetson, which is a completely normal Tuesday for her apparently. Then her best friend goes missing, and instead of doing anything sensible about it, Peyton sets a trap to lure her stalker out for answers. The trap backfires spectacularly, she gets herself kidnapped instead, by Radisson, a man tangled up in a family history so dark it was supposedly always going to keep them apart. Forbidden, obsessive, deeply unwell cowboy energy ensues.
The spice needs its own care package, genuinely. When Kent commits to Rad and Peyton's chemistry, she COMMITS, the rope play and the possessive, borderline-feral devotion do exactly what they're supposed to do, and I was fully checked out of reality for those stretches. Peyton also gets to be sassy and mouthy rather than a passive hostage, which kept her from disappearing under Rad's intensity.
Where this loses me is that the missing best friend plot, the entire reason Peyton starts this mess in the first place, just quietly clocks out somewhere around the midpoint and clocks back in for a rushed wrap-up. Rad's family secrets get built up for what feels like forever and then get resolved in about four pages flat. This book could have shed a solid hundred pages of Peyton almost escaping and then not escaping and lost nothing except my patience.

June 27, 2026This was certainly a rollercoaster ride! I truly didn't know from one minute to the next what was going to happen in this book, and it certainly kept me on my toes. I don't know in the end if that was a good thing or a bad thing 🫣, but it certainly made me feel things 😅... let's get into it!

This book as a whole was just a weird mixed bag. I have never hated a book and wanted to dnf it so much, but also liked parts of a book so much at the same time. It was so odd! I would say the middle of the book, when Peyton and Rad were alone doing their own thing was where the book shined. The beginning and the ending however, were really not good. The first 10% I thought about dnf'ing because everything was just really giving me the ick. The way Rad would describe things churned my stomach at times, and it was really hard to connect to either of the characters. Once we got some backstory on them I actually (for a moment at least 😅), really liked both of them.
Rad's backstory is so heartbreaking, and it was truly what I needed to see to actually make me not hate him completely. Peyton had a similarly sad back story, but she still overall felt quite childish.... because she still sort of was one. I had to remind myself on a number of occasions she's only 19, and then I would give her some grace. I usually love age gaps, but this one was really noticable because of how childish Peyton acted. When I was reminded of it, that's again where I would start to disconnect.
The plot, should have worked. The suspense of trying to figure out who was behind the bounty on Peyton's head was intriguing. But in the end, the big "reveal" was fairly lackluster and it really didn't feel all thought out. I also absolutely hate when conflict happens and we don't actually get to see it. After all this build up I wanted to see some fighting but nope, off page 🤷🏼♀️
Overall, I just don't think this was for me. I've seen other people rave about the book so maybe it's just not my taste. This is dark, morals are being thrown out the window, and spicy scenes that toe the line of slightly interesting and just (in my opinion) sort of gross. If I see the words "hole", "juicy", or anything blood related any time soon I very well might 🤢. Again that might be a me thing, but just giving everyone a warning! Add in a plot that needed a little more development, and the book just didn't work for me. But that's just my opinon! I'm not completely opposed to reading from this author in the future, but I'm going to take a beat before giving them another chance 🫣

I just finished Roped by Saffron Kent and I loved every single minute of this book.
If you're obsessed with possessive, morally gray men who are completely gone for their woman, this book needs to be on your TBR immediately.

I didn’t know how much I needed a cowboy until Saffron wrote Radisson.
This story is the epic tale of Radisson and Peyton and even though we get some hints in the first book (Branded) of this series, I wasn’t prepared for the wreckage this was. And I state this as the best possible outcome I look forward to when reading a story.
Radisson is a hardened cowboy with a dire past, loneliness and bitterness are his only companions, until someone unexpected comes into his life. Once his learns that his obsession bears a name that is most painful to him it’s already too late. I love his possessive nature, I could spin poetry about his obsession and how impossible it was to resist him! Even when he drove me mad with his stubborn nature I kept falling for his addictive aura.
Peyton has her own ghosts and secrets haunting her, despite her harsh surroundings she keeps a positive attitude, her smiles hides her true desires and pain, yet, she stops at nothing to protect those she loves. The sexy cowboy stalker won’t stand a chance… I love her nurturing and selfless persona, her energy and resilience make her such an amazing heroine.
The story is told in dual POV, the prose carries the typical lyrical traits Saffron accomplishes so well, strong emotions, angst and spice make this journey a memorable one, cowboy life and enticing landscape paints a beautiful setting. A plot twist I expected and one I didn’t see coming were both appreciated and well balanced into the narrative.
The narrative has a wonderful bite and the author executes it wonderfully, Saffron’s evolution into this genre is spectacular, her growth truly amazing and it reflects into the stories she’s bringing us.
𝐑𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 is an interconnected standalone, the story takes palace after 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 (book 1) and although it can be read alone, I strongly recommend to read book one, you won’t be disappointed!

A plot twist I expected and one I didn’t see coming were both appreciated and well balanced into the narrative.
The narrative has a wonderful bite and the author executes it wonderfully, Saffron’s evolution into this genre is spectacular, her growth truly amazing and it reflects into the stories she’s bringing us.
𝐑𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 is an interconnected standalone, the story takes palace after 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 (book 1) and although it can be read alone, I strongly recommend to read book one, you won’t be disappointed!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! It's my first book by Saffron A. Kent and I haven't read much dark romance, so I didn't really know what to expect. And while I did think this book was a wild ride that left me sitting in silence with my mouth agape, I mean all of those sentiments in the best way possible. I had SO much fun reading this story! The writing was engaging, and the characters were complex and captivated me from the start. Radisson is initially so consumed and blinded by his anger, and without giving anything away, he grows into someone who can manage it and someone who doesn't have to live with such a heavy burden. Speaking of that man, he is probably THE most unhinged MMC I have read about. With that being said, I wouldn't consider him a red flag or a bad person. His possessiveness and obsession over Peyton was honestly really hot to read about, and his level of care for her was really sweet. This book had a good balance of sweet, unhinged, wild, angsty, and sad moments that all blended really well together. Having not read a ton of dark romance, I wasn't sure the depth to which this book would go, but I was ecstatic to find such a thorough level of emotional depth. The characters did not feel flat at all, and I could really feel and sympathize with their motivations and wants throughout the story! Peyton and Radisson had lots of chemistry, and their relationship had a depth to it that some other dark romances lack. Yes, their physical chemistry was off the charts and the spice scenes definitely showed that, but they had an equally great emotional connection as well. Overall, I had a great time reading Roped, and I'm very thankful to the author, Forever, and Netgalley that I was able to experience this wild rollercoaster of a book early!!

This has been one of my anticipated read of 2026. Branded, book 1, of the series is so good, I couldn’t wait for Peyton’s story.
I did not anticipate how this storyline would go. I love it so much. Rad is so possessive, damaged, worthy of so much but a lot has been taken from him. Peyton has two sides to her. One that she keeps hidden and the other she shows the world. This unlikely pairing works so well together.
When we learned more about Rad’s past, it made me look at him in a different light. In the beginning, I just saw him as psychotic and out for revenge with no care for anyone in the world. As we progressed, I had so much sympathy for him. That man went through so much.
Honestly, I figured Rad is a psychopath and has no redeeming qualities. Then you get halfway into the book and the real Rad comes out and you learn more. People aren’t born villains, they are made to be it. I love the progression from Rad being this tough hard person to a man who says the sweetest things and puts his heart out to Peyton. As much as he is crazy he goes and says the most romantic things. Well in my opinion. I might be just as crazy as Peyton for falling into it haha.
When Rad and Peyton are together there’s electricity, passion, fire, and the ultimate sweetness.
Saffron’s writing! The way that she writes Rad is poetic. The words he says. The love the pours out of him towards Peyton. You feel the immense love and passion that he has for her. He’s a broken man and with Peyton he’s alive for the first time ever. I love reading about a broken man who meets the woman who makes his life worth living again.
I didn’t see the story progressing the way that I did and I’m so for it. I love how Branded and Roped were similar and how the characters in both books found an ending where they made peace in everything that’s happened.

I want to preface this by saying, I have been a saffron Kent fan since the beginning. Like we go way back and I love her books. And I completely adored Branded. Unfortunately, Roped just missed the mark a little for me, which sucks, but I still had great time and a wild ride back at Rawhide Ranch with my favourite Phantom and his princess.
Like every great saffron Kent book, Roped had no shortage of an older, hot, morally grey man obsessed, a wild and fun girl who loves to push his buttons and tension and chemistry so hot that you’ll be fanning yourself the entire read.
Radisson and Peyton were really great together. I really think they balanced each other out. Peyton found her safety in Rad and she breathe life back into him, allowing him to fully live and love again. I love how he was a little mean to her at the beginning, but once he was all in, you could tell how fully immersed in his obsession of her he was. And how he treated her like a princess always, from knowing her favourite breakfast to learning how to tie her hair (unwell). I loved how she loved every part of Radisson, even the dark and scary parts and in turn taught him how to love those parts too.
I think my main issue with this book was the plot. Most of the first half of the book was spent rehashing details from Branded, which ok granted, was needed to see Rad’s and Peyton’s story developed. But after that, we barely see Reverie, who is supposed to be her best friend and SISTER, and all of a sudden Radisson has his own sister??? And they need to save her?? It kind of threw me off. Then, I found the ending a little rushed and like the enemies were just….dealt with? I don’t know I just wish we got more details.
I will definitely keep reading the series because I really want to read Mars and Haven’s story so I hope their book is up next!!!

Roped follows the story of Peyton Turner and Radisson King—characters that were previously featured in Branded. This is a direct sequel to that book. I had a lot of hopes for this book, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. I couldn't relate to the characters and found them to be lacking chemistry. There was plenty of sexual chemistry between them, but it was missing the most important factor for me which was the romance. Peyton's character came across as very childish, bratty, and naive. She actually reminded me of Isadora Holmes from
Oh, You're So Cold
but not as annoying. But the character I was most disappointed in was Rad. I thought I was going to get a sweet and silent yearner who was obsessed with his heroine, but what we got instead was an emotionally tortured stalker and kidnapper. Not quite what I wanted, but I did think he was a much better character than Arsen from
Branded
though.
In the end, while I ended up enjoying Peyton and Rad's story, I had a really difficult time finishing this book and will not be continuing this series. As someone who prefers scenes with active dialogue between the characters that actively move the story, this book was too descriptive of the character's physical attributes and repetitive for me. This actually pulled me out of the story and had me skimming instead. I really wanted to like Peyton and Rad's story, but found the revenge aspect a bit too ridiculous and unbelievable for me. I wanted there to be more development and actual romance between the characters instead of them having sex. The push/pull factor was missing for me, which is typically Saffron Kent's best plot device in her books. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of the stalker romance genre, I would consider readers give this book a try—especially if you liked the first book. I would not recommend starting Roped without first reading Branded since they are interconnected.
