Woven in Time

Rate this book
Across centuries, three women are bound by an invisible thread, one that dares them to question everything and follow what whispers in their souls. Because it turns out, we are far more magical than we ever imagined.

1307 England: Miryam, a weaver’s daughter, longs for more than her impending arranged marriage. When she meets a handsome monk and begins practicing magic in a secret mystery school, she believes she has found her true path—until the earl begins hunting heretics, and her new powers may cost her life.

2017 California: Leah, an atheist fortune teller and boxed-wine connoisseur, just wants peace during a brutal custody battle and debilitating migraines. But when a strange journal from the 1300s arrives addressed to her, she is drawn into a mystery that challenges everything she believes.

2307 New Soteria: Karaia, a rising marketing analyst, witnesses an impossible murder in a world where crime was supposedly eradicated. Thrust into the dark underbelly of society, she learns of disturbing government cover-ups, repressed childhood memories, and her own connection to a thousand-year-old prophecy.

As fate and free will collide, Miryam, Leah, and Karaia must unravel their pasts, face their deepest fears, and embrace their power. Ultimately, they must decide—will they accept the lives written for them, or risk it all and step into the unknown?

For readers who love interwoven timelines, secret societies, ancient prophecies, and character-driven fantasy, Woven in Time is the first book in a sweeping, genre-bending work of adult speculative fiction that fuses alternate history, dystopian intrigue, and a powerful message of personal transformation into one unforgettable journey across the ages.

I've been having a lot of luck with new authors I've come across. Woven in time is a beautiful tale following 3 women from 3 different time periods. How could these 3 women have anything in commom? Well they do and it works. Each character has their own struggles based in their lives that all combines later on in the story. Im not sure which woman is my favorite. I love Mirayem for her discovery of magic and her dream to be someone outside of her circumstances. Leah I connect with as a mom whose child means everything. Her depression and struggles as a single mom is something I can sympathize with. Then theres Kaira. I dont really connect with her at all but she is fascinating. I love how the author combined these 3 storylines across time and space! The writing perfection! I look forward to what else this author comes up with in this world and new worlds.

This story had me hooked from the first few chapters on! I loved the changes in writing style that the author gave each timeline. She made each time period stand out and gave you the feeling you were right there with the characters. I also loved how the 3 main characters came alive on page and from early on you understand what makes each character unique and special. Like any true fantasy/dystopian book the last 150 pages are action packed and the epilogue will have you begging for answers! I am looking forward to book 2 in the series!

4.5 stars rounded up.

This is a stunning debut! I love when a story blends elements of different genres and this story is a bit speculative fiction, dystopian and romantasy, among others. There are multiple time periods and points of view. And while that may sound overwhelming, it never felt that way. I love the way the story delves into the ideas of reality and time. The way the stories of these three women across time and space are interconnected is brilliant. My understanding is this is planned to be a trilogy, and I cannot wait to continue reading once the next installment is available!

💜 Thank you so much to Jessica Ann and Love Books Tours for including me on this book tour and for the gifted copy of Woven in Time! 💜

An unforgettable, soul-stirring masterpiece! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just finished this book, and I am completely speechless. This wasn't just a story; it was an experience. The way the author weaves together three different timelines and three distinct characters is pure genius, building a narrative that feels both vast and incredibly intimate.
The character development is exceptional—I felt so deeply connected to them that I could easily see myself in their shoes, facing their struggles and joys. The emotional weight of this story is heavy in the best way possible; I felt every heartbreak and every moment of joy 100%. The writing is so sensory and immersive that I could practically feel the grass beneath my feet in the scenes described. This is a story that lingers with you long after the final page. I cannot recommend this enough. Please, take the time to read this—you won't regret it.

Woven in Time is a perfect “just one more chapter!” novel. I had just finished reading Game of Thrones when I started this book which was a jarring change of pace (in a good way!) because there is ALWAYS time for another chapter of Woven in Time. Jessica Ann’s debut novel is shamelessly about girl power and finding and growing love in our relationships. I really loved her world building to explain how everyday magic and the whole Time thing work in her story. My favorite of the three stories is Karaia’s, set in 2307 where the U.S. once stood. Her nerdy and surprisingly (probably even to himself) brave best friend, Arjun, is my favorite character, so I hope we see him again in the series.

There is a spiritual, literary revolution happening right now and Jessica Ann has her finger on its pulse!

First off, this book does not read like a debut. This author was born to write. Second, I absolutely loved this book!

It zeros in on three women from three different timelines that overlap—1307, 2017, and 2307. These women kick ass. But not at first because none of them realize the powerful magic they carry. Myriam (1307) is destined to marry someone she does not want to because, well, women did what they were told then. Leah (2017) is going through life’s quotidian battles while fighting a custody war she has no chance at winning. Again, a woman forced to kowtow. Kariai (2307) thinks she is pretty strong, and she is, but her mettle is tested when she rebels against a tyrannical corporate regime that runs life as she knows it in the dystopian future of New Soteria—a landscape that worships tech, money, AI, VR, and keeping its constituents numb. Seem familiar?

This book is an absolute must read for everyone! Though the protagonists are women, men would absolutely benefit from reading this. It’s political, magical, psychological, philosophical—it crosses all genres.

Seriously, get a copy. Our collective consciousness depends on it.

Unbelievably hard to put down

Wow, this piece of fiction was hard to put down! Just under 500 pages of fantasy interwoven in time. Three characters with their own stories somehow are connected throughout centuries never having met. I could say more but I fear I will say too much. If you are intrigued by mysticism and religion Jessica Ann lays it all out as she surely done her research. One of the best books I have read in the last year—I have read many.

I loved this book, with its multiple timeliness and inter-woven elements! We follow the stories of three very different women in 3 different times and places. The structure of the book, with its constantly rotating chapters dedicated to each character kept me wanting to read "just one more part" repeatedly! Each character is very much her own person and we learn more about them, their challenges, strengths and weaknesses. The stories pull us along, drawing close to a revelation about how and why they're intertwined, but left me with a new thread at the end, that I can't wait to follow in the next book!

Holy mackerel, this was a beautiful and fantastic journey! I need book two!

I was fully invested right from the start. Each of the women were fully fleshed characters, who despite their connection to each other, felt different and distinct enough from each other, too. Miryam, a fiery and curious woman, in her late teens, in 1300’s England, who wants to believe she could live a life full of magic and freedom, and not have to go through with an arranged marriage. Leah, a smart and skeptical woman in her late 30’s, in 2010’s California, who’s just trying to be a good mum to her daughter, whilst she struggles with depression. And Karaia, a quietly courageous sleeping rebel, in her late 20’s, in 2300’s New Soteria (what was once USA), who just wants the truth about what happened to her parents. Each woman’s thread stands well on its own, almost as if you’re reading three stories in one. Yet the magic of Woven in Time, is how well each woman’s thread interacts with each other, creating a fourth dimension to the story that reveals how special and connected the story of these three women actually is.

I loved all three women, but Karaia’s story in particular I found interesting, as her time period is of a dystopian future, where companies rule the country and everyone’s too busy being distracted and disconnected to notice the truth. It read like a smart critique on us in the present day, and where we might be headed, if we’re not careful.

The author’s ability to weave in and out between each thread, never getting lost between each of the women and all of the details, and even creating patterns for the reader to follow that show the woman’s connection with each other, was masterful. I loved how she had imposed certain questions via one of the women, and then revealed the answers to the reader via one of the other women. It felt like a well-choreographed and synchronized dance and the slow reveal of how these three women are in fact connected, was beautiful and satisfying to read.

This book does not shy away from difficult topics, emotions and questions, but it’s also generous in its optimism and hope. And I was pleasantly surprised by it's little sprinkles of humor.

There’s one chapter in particular that I decided to reread because I found it so funny and well done. What happens when women from 1307, 2017 and 2307 unexpectedly meet? A lot of confusion and moments of being lost in translation, that’s for sure! Very well crafted.

I believe this is the first book of a trilogy, so the story isn’t over. Really, it’s just begun for all of them. They’ve gone through many significant trials and there’s the sense that there’s more where that comes from. That these women don’t even know the half of it, yet. But, still, the author managed to create a satisfying pause for each woman’s journey so far. A truly magical story - I highly recommend!

💬 "The past is gone; the future is yet to come. The present is all we can truly know. "
How stunning is this book! I'll definitely be treating myself to a physical copy.

When I read on my kindle, I highlight phrases as go so that I can put one on my review, my favourite of the book. Usually I highlight one thing, often it's none. But I've got 11 from this book! Choosing my favourite wasn't easy, and actually the one I've used isn't the best one there was. But I think it's the one that sums up the story the most.

When I read the blurb I was intrigued and also thought there was no way someone would be able to write 3 timelines without dropping the ball somewhere. Let me tell you that Jessica absolutely smashed it out of the park. The three timelines are discrete, and yet linked, with each bringing it's own unique and intriguing story.
In 1307 we meet Miryam. Betrothed to a man she despises, she feels a magnetic draw to a local monk. I loved this timeline, the were some really interesting semi-religious threads. Christianity with a twist almost. But can Miryam protect the secrets she knows for future generations.

2012 we have Leah who is caught in a custody battle, whilst also facing a potentially life changing medical diagnosis. When she is given a mysterious diary by an old woman, Leah realises there is so much more to life than we know. As a single parent this timeline tugged at my heartstrings. I loved Leah's journey from non-woo-believer (despite working as a fortune teller) to someone who would stop at nothing to discover the truth.

The final timeline is 2307, starring Karaia. This future had me so invested. People in this time can utilise "credits" whenever they feel less than happy, a small serotonin hit delivered straight to the brain. As a result crime is non existent, and no one ever feels depressed, or even sad. Of course the downside is that no one knows how to feel normal emotions and I think that would definitely have a long term effect. Can Karaia discover the truth about the government and the future? And what is this mysterious necklace that her parents left her?

The lives of the 3 women are wonderfully linked despite the hundreds of years separating them. I can't wait to find out what happens next for them. I also liked that, although there was romance, it wasn't straightforward or necessarily happy ever after. It felt so realistic which was a refreshing change.

This is a book that needs to be read slowly and savoured. It's a stunning work and I don't think I can fully reflect that in my review.

You are wicked, Jessica Ann. I picked up your novel ‘Woven in Time’ and took a glance at the beginning, and that was it; I couldn’t put it down. I was in the middle of reading another book, but no, I had to put that to one side. You had me hooked.
A fabulous story of three very different women, Miryam, Leah, and Karaia, each in different periods of time. The 14th century, the present 21st century, and the future 24th century.
Three distinct stories, each unravelling their pasts, facing their deepest fears, and discovering and embracing their individual power and unique abilities. Yet as you follow each one, time intricately weaves them together, drawing their narratives closer and closer.
Each story hurtles along, action never stops, tension and jeopardy at every twist and turn.
Beautifully written, Jessica Ann crafts a story that is immense and deeply personal; the development of characters is magical, leaving you deeply connected to each.
The prose is beautiful; I could hear the rustle of leaves, taste a sweet kiss on my lips, feel the pain in my heart, their struggles a heavy weight in my chest, and their joys a light fluttering in my heart. Yes, I found the story’s emotional impact profound and moving; it has left a deep, positive impression. It has been a week since I put the book down, yet I stop and reflect as scenes come back to me. The writing is intense with sensual detail. This is a story that will stay with you, its echoes resonating long after you’ve finished reading.
Miryam with her innovative discovery of magic and her aspiration to rise above her current situation. Leah, a mom whose child is her entire world. Struggling with depression and the challenges she faces as a single mother. And finally Kaira. Struggling with the lies she’s been told and the emerging memories of her parents. She’s determined to break free.
Jessica Ann skilfully weaves together these three distinct plotlines, transcending both time and geographical location.
‘Woven in Time’ is the first in a series, and each of the protagonists’ stories comes to a partial resolution… yet each needs to adventure on to fully realise their destiny… I can’t wait for book two. Fully recommended, you won’t regret getting and being ‘Woven in Time.’

This book was an ambitious project for its author, to create and interweave three different but related plots unfolding in different times, one of which is in an imagined future. It was accomplished quite successfully, in that the three characters experienced crises and romantic attractions, had enemies trying to foil them, and faced up to their worst fears.

I found the scenes in which the characters experienced magical events to be vivid and memorable. They were the best parts of the book for me. Clearly, the idea of magic in the world is important to the author. I found it difficult to relate to the three main characters, however. Miryam is annoying for much of the story. Leah is a mess throughout. Karaia is the most promising of the three, but not really relatable, possibly because the world she lives in is so far removed from present reality.

I had problems with the medieval setting of Miryam's chapters. I don't know if it was meant to be realistic, but to me it felt like "Hollywood medieval." I don't think there were straw bales in 1307, or that knights wore their armour outside of combat situations. Words like 'twas and 'tis are tossed around, along with awkward sentences such as "What doest we do?" And it seemed extremely unlikely that a manuscript from the early 14th century would turn up in a used bookstore in LA (although Gertrude, the proprietor of said store, is a colourful character), or that Leah would easily read and comprehend a manuscript journal written in what would surely have been Middle English.

Poor Leah experiences migraine headaches that come and go multiple times in a few hours. That's not how migraines work in reality. I also noticed misused words throughout, such as "besot with disbelief," and a character "donning his police uniform" while in the middle of an incident. Errors like these interrupted the flow of the story and made reading the book a less than immersive experience.

Finally, the endings of all three storylines are inconclusive, probably because a sequel or series is intended. The characters all move on to new phases of their lives, having experienced loss, met difficult challenges, and learned hard lessons, but none of the questions raised about the things that unite the three are answered, leaving this reader feeling as though the larger story fizzled out rather than concluded.

‘Woven In Time’ is a unique story showing three different women from multiple timelines and this was the part that intrigued me the most.
I really adored the combination of historical, fantasy, dystopian and elements of romance.
It’s a magnificent way of writing a book and the layout clearly displayed the differences of each time line and how much simple things can change over time such as; fashion, scenery and deferring society.

There are three main characters; Miryam (1307) Leah (2017) and Karaia (2307). They are each fighting their own battles and they each have a different goal to fulfil in their point of view, I found their stories to be captivating and engaging. I admired their passion and how they tackled each goal with their head held high.
In particular, I found myself getting emotional regarding how Leah was treated and how her ex was portraying her because unfortunately this is something that happens so commonly in the real world. I really admired the relationship Leah had with her daughter and how she was determined to do what’s right for her, despite what others thought about her and how they portrayed her, Leah was determined to better herself. I would say this was my favourite part of the story, I found this to be inspiring and it’s a relatable story to a lot of readers. In the next book I would love to see Leah’s walls come down for her potential love interest.
Each character seemed to have a strong relationship or friendship in their part of the story and I found it to be lovely how they had somebody supporting them through and through and I’m excited to see how each character develops further in the second book.

As a whole, ‘Woven In Time’ is a heartwarming read with emotional scenes, it’s a fast paced book and it keeps you hooked. If you fancy something a bit different and a read with a combination of genres then this is the read for you, it is truly a stunning book and beautifully written.

✨️⏳️Three women, a time-bending tale of magic! 🐍

Woven in Time (Book 1)
Jessica Ann

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

As a little girl I always knew magic existed in the world. And as I have gotten older, it's finally worked its way into my life again. This book is yet another reminder of this! Thank you Jessica and the LBT crew for bringing this gorgeous mystical story my way!

Three intriguing women across time tell the story of their own journey to the magic that is threaded throughout all of Life. I love how it brings them together. We are introduced to Miryam from 1307, practicing magic at a monastery, Leah from 2017, an atheistic psychic fighting a custody case for her daughter and Karaia from 2307, in the new world of New Soteria, who witnesses a murder that makes her question the dystopian reality around her. Each character has some complexity and depth that makes me love their separate and collective journeys. The pacing of the book is helped by the separation of chapters belonging to each woman, giving a balance to their voices and the narrative. And it made me long to read more - I just couldn't wait to see how the interconnectedness of the characters' lives played out across time.

Jessica, you have created such a thought provoking stunning story! It had the right balance of magic, harsh truths and realities, humour, spicyness 🔥 (queue hot moments)! The way you weave the events within the plot across time is skillfully done. Woven in Time, a very apt title!
It fuses dystopian lit, hist fic and fantasy in such a unique way.

I'm thrilled it's a trilogy because I need and want to know more! I foresee many more late nights spent indulging in "just one more chapter" of this universe...

Woven in Time is the rare novel that feels both expansive and intimate, high-concept and deeply human.

It follows three women across three centuries: Miryam in 1307 England, Leah in 2017 California, and Karaia in 2307 New Soteria. Each timeline is rigorously grounded in its era, and each woman is shaped by the constraints of her world. And yet the book keeps circling the same question: what do you do when the life handed to you isn’t the life you want?

Leah, an atheist fortune teller in the middle of a brutal custody battle, anchors the metaphysical elements of the story with sharp skepticism. Her cynicism keeps the supernatural grounded and prevents the novel from drifting into mystical fluff. The irony is that when something truly impossible happens, it’s her more “spiritual” friends who dismiss her. The book suggests reality is wider than our five senses without trying to sell you a belief system.

None of the characters are clean or simple. Leah is self-sabotaging but deeply loves her daughter. Miryam is charismatic but reckless, wielding magic she doesn’t fully understand. Even the antagonists refuse to stay one-dimensional.

The novel begins like literary fiction and then mutates into something more: part mystery, part speculative thriller, part emotional gut-punch. It doesn’t respect genre conventions, which means it doesn’t respect your expectations either. The twists keep coming, and the stakes keep rising.

At its core, Woven in Time is about loyalty, sacrifice, and the cost of choosing yourself. It asks hard questions without offering easy answers. And it’s also highly entertaining.

Once it gets its hooks into you, it doesn’t let go.

Thank you Jessica Ann and Love Book Tours for the opportunity to review this book.

I am challenging myself to read across genres since I tend to read mostly mysteries and historical fiction. This fantasy/dystopian/multiple timeline novel promised intrigue and tropes that I figured would be a perfect gateway book, and it delivered!

First applause, fantasy delivers beautiful covers!

I liked how the author alternated the chapters across the three characters, always in the same order of 1307, 2017 and 2307 so it was easy to keep their storylines straight. Chapters were short, around 6 pages or so, which made it feel fast paced which was nice since this is just shy of 500p. It didn’t feel that long.

The romance of Miryam and Ved in 1307 is beautiful, I love how they are the beginning. You can also see how the traumas suffered in 1307 ripple forward and change over time. The reincarnation of themes through each timeframe.

Of all the characters the current time, Leah, has the most unfinished business in my mind. She is just finding her courage and confidence at the end to head into Book 2. It will be interesting to see her arc continue. I did want to shout Tate just get on the plane, when you read the book you’ll get it!

The future setting was well done, and equally frightening because I could see this being real. Amazing imagination rolled into all the ways AI could alter our lives, but good news is most of the time people are dropping so much serotonin they are just blissfully happy and frankly unaware.

If you love fantasy/romantasy/multiple timeline/dystopian reads, this is for you! If you are like me and want to try fantasy, this is a good place to start!

Thank you to Jessica Ann, Love Books Tours, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I genuinely applaud an author who can make not just dual timelines, but multiple timelines work without confusing the reader, because I generally stay away from them for that reason, but I am so glad that it did not deter me from this book. You might wonder why I chose to read this book if I don’t love multiple timelines, and my answer to you is that it just sounded so good that I was willing to take the risk! Lol. That being said, Jessica does an absolutely wonderful job telling the stories of these three women in three different time periods. It was amazing to see how their timelines were actually interwoven. All three characters were so expertly written that they became super relatable, even without experiencing their exact situations. I love characters written and developed so well that you feel like you legitimately know them as a person. When the book is finished, it feels like saying goodbye to a friend. You find yourself later wondering about them as if they were really there. For me, it takes an incredible amount of talent to connect to readers that way and leave them with those feelings.

Jessica’s writing itself was excellent. The pacing was just right, and the story was easy to read. No missing information, no plot holes, just an ending that leaves you scrambling to know what happens next. The journey these women faced, the challenges they endured, and the growth they’ve shown in just the first book are testaments to how awesome this series is set up to be. I truly cannot wait to see more from this author.

14th Century England. 21st Century California. 24th Century New Soteria. Three women: Miryam, Leah, and Karaia. All connected across centuries. They each seek to write their own destiny. We see how they navigate challenging times, societal expectations, love, loss, healing - all in the search of a better tomorrow for themselves. Along the way, they discover how their fates are intertwined across time.

I enjoyed reading each of their stories, and thought the world building across time was excellent. The balance of creating three distinct characters living in different centuries, circumstances, and places while simultaneously illustrating how they are interconnected was well done. The chapters and shifts in perspective from one protagonist to the next were well paced.

This novel is a toast to dreamers. Dreamers are visionaries. Dreamers are groundbreaking. They are bold and brave. They defy expectations. Each of the protagonists seeks to use their own power as they step into the unknown.

While their stories are individual, the novel illustrates how these themes are universal across time: driven by our dreams and hopes, we have the power to write our own story.

It’s also seen in the dedication and acknowledgements, profoundly reminding us as readers to keep dreaming, being bold, being magical.

Woven in Time is the first book in the trilogy and I’m looking forward to the next book!

Thank you to Jessica Ann and Love Books Tours for the opportunity to be part of the tour! I was provided a copy of this book for free and am leaving an honest review.

I finished reading Woven in Time, by Jessica Ann and the only negative thing I have to say about it is that now I have to wait until the next book comes out.

This book tells the story of three different women in three different times and it will keep you glued to your ebook until the end.

I love fantasy books but this one hits differently, because while it has magic, it’s the kind of magic that you can even believe exists. It’s not about crazy magic worlds, but rather about a subtle kind of magic we all have inside of us.

I also really enjoy the fact that it combines three different stories, so each chapter is about one of the leading female characters.

So are you intrigued by what is happening to Miryam? You’ll have to read through Leah and Karaia’s stories first. Maybe one of the stories is in a bit of a lull? Don’t worry, you also have two more stories to follow.

It makes it so easy to read because one way or another, you’re always wanting to know what happens next. The chapters are also short, which I personally appreciate. Although it also makes it really easy to fall into the trap of “one more chapter”, which every reader knows can take you away for hours.

Additionally, I love the world that Jessica paints on Karaia’s story, a future that while still a fantasy, it makes you think about our society. In my opinion, it cleverly showcases some real issues and makes you think about who we are and where we are going.

All in all, a great read! I can’t wait for the second book and I just hope Jessica will delight us with it soon enough!!

Wow, I just finished this last night and I ATE IT UP! The entire book was well paced, well thought out and planned, and felt cozy while also keeping major interest. I stayed up too late multiple nights reading! I love a time travel piece and though this isn't 'travel' I enjoy the aspects of different time periods all in one novel and seeing how the 3 women are interconnected. I can't wait for book 2!!!! This is such an impressive start to a writing career and a series as a whole, I was very impressed by the planning and execution of the book. I felt really connected to all 3 characters from the first chapters. This is a fairly sizeable book but equally not difficult to get through. I think I read it in less than a week, but it was sizeable enough to really take the time to develop the characters and stories.
I find I often struggle to connect with a story and characters when written in third person (which this book is) but I really felt connected and Jess has written it in a way where I actually forgot that it was in third person and I really connected to the thoughts and actions of the characters.
Can I just say how much I loved the island scene!!!!!
When reading, Karaia is pronounced kah-RYE-ah (via confirmation from the author!) as I found this helped smoothen my own reading.

Woven in Time follows three women across three different time periods. It sounds simple, but it isn’t. It’s a really beautiful debut novel, and I can’t believe that I’m typing the word debut because this doesn’t read like a debut. The story had me hooked from the beginning. Each character was her own, as well as each time and circumstance. The story feels vast yet intimate in that way. The time periods are 1307, 2017, and 2307. The author has an excellent knack for making you feel comfortable in a story, letting you really get to know the characters and feel what makes each one unique and special. The writing is immersive in that way, so kudos to the author. I wanted to read a book on each woman alone because there is still so much to know! I understand there is to be a sequel, so that at least calmed my nerves a little. I don’t want to give anything away, but just know that there is excitement, danger, love, magic, and anything else you could want in a story here!

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and rated it 4 stars. If you enjoy books with multiple timelines, multiple points of view, love across lifetimes, fate vs. free will, feminine energy, genre-defying, ancient magic, and soul connections, then you will love this book! Thank you to @lovebookstours and @jessanncreates for the lovely book copy. (Seriously, this book cover is gorgeous.) All opinions are my own.

📚 I received a copy of this ebook from the author 📚

Wow. This is like a fusion of romantasy, contemporary, and dystopian sci-fi all wrapped into one story. Woven in Time follows three female protagonists, each in a different era, facing similar struggles: finding a sense of purpose, freedom, and truly embracing themselves.

Myriam is our romantasy heroine, in 1300s England. She's a weaver's daughter, betrothed against her will to an insipid man named Dempsey whom she has never met.

Leah is our contemporary heroine, a mother fighting for custody of her daughter against a controlling ex-husband.

Karaia is our dystopian heroine, a woman living a supposedly perfect life until she witnesses the unthinkable: a murder, in her so-called utopian state.

Their stories are woven together, and intertwined by fate.

It's deeply imaginative, and because we're moving through three stories, there's an urgency to the narrative that kept me reading. For a book just shy of 600 pages, I tore through it like my life depended upon it.

This is perfect for readers who already love fantasy/romantasy, contemporary, and dystopian/sci-fi, because we get some of each.

I can't wait to see where this series goes next. 👀

Review: Woven in Time by Jessica Ann

This is a first novel? I had to stop and remind myself of that fact more than once while reading Woven in Time — and even then, I didn't quite believe it.

Jessica Ann is working at the level of the giants. The conceptual density of Gibson, the intricate world-systems of Sanderson, the big-idea reach of Asimov, the sharp edge of Heinlein, the world-weight of Tolkien — she's not imitating any of them, but she's clearly in that conversation. The genre fusion alone — sci-fi, fantasy, and romance woven together without a seam showing — is an achievement most seasoned authors never manage.

And then there's the pacing. Ann has what I'd call the Gibson Turn: she rotates through multiple POV characters with precision and patience, building tension across separate story threads — and then, at the major plot beats, she brings all three perspectives into a single chapter simultaneously, and the effect is devastating in the best possible way. It's structural storytelling at a high level of craft.

I could not put this book down. I finished it at 1 AM and I don't regret a minute of lost sleep.
Watch this author. Closely.

This is a start of a series, genre bending book that follows 3 different women in 3 different timelines.

First we have Miryam in 1307 England. Miryam is betrothed and wants to marry for love. She uncovers a secret mystery school and starts to wonder if she found her true self. I enjoyed Miryams character she was smart and all she wants is love. She meets a monk and discovers nothing is simple.

Next we have Leah in 2017 California, she is co parenting with her ex, a practicing fortune teller who needs to get her life together. Leah discovers that she is strong and has to give up everything to fulfill her destiny. She meets Tate and there is some romance in her story as well. I found her chapters and story the easiest to follow since it’s closer to present day.

Lastly we meet Karaia. New Soteria 2307. This one is more of a dystopian themed world where the United States fell and the new government took over. Karaia’s character grew the most and she sacrificed a lot and took the harder path. Her decisions were not easy and I applaud that she chose not to keep her head in the sand.

Overall I enjoyed reading this. There was a rotation every chapter between the 3 women and kept the plots in all 3 stories moving. The cliffhanger wasn’t too crazy, but it was good. I’m happy that I won’t be tortured considering I don’t know when the next book will be out. I plan on picking it up.

Woven In Time by Jessica Ann was such a unique and beautiful read.

The story follows three women: Miryam (1307), Leah (2017), and Karaia (2307) whose lives are connected across centuries by an invisible thread. Multiple timelines and multiple characters can sometimes feel overwhelming but the stories flowed together in a way that was easy to follow and really kept me invested in each woman’s journey.

What I loved most was how each character felt fully developed and real. You really feel what they’re going through, especially Leah’s storyline, which hit on some very real struggles. Watching her navigate everything while trying to do what’s best for her daughter was incredibly moving.

I also loved the blend of genres here. There was historical, fantasy, a little dystopian, and even hints of romance. It made the story feel layered and different from anything I’ve read recently.

This is definitely a bigger book, but the pacing kept me turning the pages because I needed to know what would happen next. By the end, I found myself still thinking about these characters and their journeys. And the ending??? Total shocker! I need book 2 asap!!

Woven in Time is an absolutely wonderful read. From the very first chapter, I was swept into a expertly crafted story that flows effortlessly across multiple points of view and timelines. The way these perspectives are woven together is nothing short of masterful—each voice feels distinct, authentic, and essential to the unfolding narrative.

What truly sets this book apart is how seamless the transitions are between timelines. There’s no confusion, no jarring shifts—just a smooth, immersive experience that deepens the emotional impact with every turn of the page. The timelines intertwine so naturally that it feels natural as you read.

The pacing is perfect, the characters are richly developed, and the layered storytelling adds so much depth and meaning. Every perspective adds nuance, building tension and connection in a way that kept me completely invested.

Woven in Time is a stunning example of how complex storytelling can feel effortless in the right hands. An unforgettable, beautifully written novel that I’ll be recommending to everyone. I can’t wait for the next book!

This book was like any other I have read. I was not sure how an author can take 3 main characters from THREE different time periods and keep it flowing easily where I could keep up. Buuuuut Jessica Ann NAILED IT!

This story follows 3 FMCS: Miryam (1307), Leah (2017), and Karaia (2307). And someone their lives all connected throughout the huge time gaps between them. This story connects multiple genres, so it will appeal to so many different people.

I loved how each woman was crafted and developed to be their own person beautifully. Each one had their own struggles: being married off to someone she despises, a single mother in the middle of a custody battle, and seeing the world for what it really is after witnessing a brutal murder.

It’s a hefty and thick book for sure, won’t lie some places the pace of the book was a bit slower for me, but not so much where I couldn’t finish the book. It was still engaging and progressed, but a couple places I just wanted to hit fast forward a bit. But we also need the story building to get to know each character.

This epic fantasy novel not only looks amazing, but it has been carefully crafted, world building is fantastic and the drama just keeps building! And then we get to the end and argh – we need book 2!

Weaving timelines together can be something that is really difficult to maintain and pace. But Jessica Ann manages to maintain the pace throughout the whole book. I really loved the even balance chapters between all of the three main FMC’s, so I knew when I’d get back to a story line I’d been left hanging on.

The three different time periods were lovely constructed and I really liked it when the three characters merged. No spoilers but we have a great twisting.

There was a few teary moments for me and I felt so sorry for Leah. But I liked how all of them developed as strong female characters and their friendship and family connections were lovely too.

The plot has a good pace and there is a great cliff hanger at the end!

Really looking forward to the next installment!

I’ve truly never read anything like this before! I’ll try to explain this the best I can. This book is about three women from three different time periods… an interwoven timeline. Miryam in 1307 England, Leah in 2017 California, and Karaia in 2307 New Soteria. They are, and always have been, connected to each other.
Dystopian vibes, finding yourself, claiming your own path, loss, love, and most of all, hope. This book will take you on three unique adventures that mirror each other in their own ways.
This was so well written and everything came together beautifully at the end.. which by the way is an absolute cliffhanger! If you’re looking for something new and exciting, put this on your TBR for 2026! You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to see what Jessica has for us in book two!

Wow! I am not a fantasy reader, but I loved this! It follows the stories of 3 very different women. 1 from year 1307, 1 from year 2017, and 1 from year 2307. You would think given the time differences, they would lead very different lives, right? Wrong. It actually had me sitting back and thinking to myself how all things are connected. Each one reaches into themselves and unlocks the power hidden within each of them. Each woman is faced with pain, suffering, and deceit from others, but they find out their true magic and finally take a stand. It was a twisty ride I didn't know I needed to read. It truly was an exciting read and for a devoted fantasy reader, I am sure it would be a solid 5 star. The ending was jaw dropping and has me foaming at the mouth to know what happens next in book 2.
