Mistletoe and Wayward Spells

Rate this book
Becks is overjoyed at the thought of going to Candy Cane Lane, the biggest Christmas event in the state of Massachusetts. Until the sight of mistletoe and kissing couples makes her want to use her fire magic to burn all of the tiny plants to dust.

Instead, she decides to craft a spell eradicating all mistletoe from the town. Only, the spell takes a turn and multiplies them three fold. And what’s worse? The attractive tree farmer wizard informs Becks of an old town superstition. If one finds themselves under the mistletoe and refuses a kiss, they’ll be cursed for eternity. Great. More curses.

Interconnected standalone to ‘The Witch’s Curse’. Don’t miss how this story started!

I absolutely loved this witchy little holiday novella! Mistletoe and Wayward Spells was such a fun, lighthearted Christmas read full of small-town charm, mishaps that'll have you laughing out loud, and so many magical moments. Becks is relatable and entertaining, the banter and chemistry between her and Grey are delightful, and the festive setting makes you want to visit and be a part of this magical little town! The found family vibes had me also wishing I could join in and be a part of the festivities with them all, and had me smiling from ear to ear at each character introduced.

As a cat mom myself, any story that includes cats is automatically a must read..and the chaos these two caused was hilariously relatable. And Rachel? Absolute perfection. Best friend turned sister, ride-or-die energy, and now I need to read A Witch’s Curse to get her story because she is exactly the kind of character every girl deserves in her corner.

Cozy, funny, and brimming with magic.. Overall, this was a light, witchy, feel good holiday read that’s perfect for the season! ✨🐈‍⬛🎄

This little bite sized novella hits you right in the feels. Perfect for every fantasy loving holiday enthusiast, this witchy feel good story is so well done. It always amazes me how much emotion KP can pack into a novella.

I had so much fun learning Becks story and more about her and her personality. Her found family with Rachel is chefs kiss.

Grey is bold, straight forwarded, and absolutely obsessed right off the hop. He falls first done right!

More curses, cat mayhem, and Christmas cheer made this a fun read. It has kick your feet banter, laugh out loud moments, and just enough ooey gooey moments to make you swoon. Highly recommend!

Love when a book just makes you Giddy and smile, which I think I did every single chapter.

This is so stupidly cute and ridiculously adorable. Christmas magic wrapped up in a book. I loved the cozy vibe but also it's so much more. I loved meeting Becks (the main female character) and Grey. They had instant chemistry that was so delicious to read. It also had these great found family vibes, which just made me kick my feet smiling. So much fun. Incredibly sweet. The ending was such a perfect ending too.

This was absolutely adorable. And the perfect holiday novella. I had to laugh at Becks wanting to do away with all the mistletoe, only to make it worse lol. She couldn’t seem to make acting go her way.
But this was such a fun and cozy read. I truly enjoyed it. And it was the perfect amount pages. Nothing felt left out or lacking. Just perfect for the holiday season.

I absolutely loved this cozy holiday novella. We meet Becks and Grey. Beck is attempting to fix her loneliness with a spell only to accidentally create a town-wide mistletoe crisis. Grey is a wizard counterpart to her fire. I love the instant chemistry between them. The family ties and found family bonds are strong. You definitely don’t want to miss it.

This novella is pure holiday magic: cozy witchy vibes, adorable cats, all the feel-good moments, and don’t even get me started on the peppermint cinnamon rolls (I cannot wait to try them 😭).
And can we talk about the MMC for a second?! Because he had me giggling, kicking my feet, and smiling like a fool the entire time. I loved him so much. 🥰
But what truly stole my heart was the found family—the wonderful parents who feel like everyone’s parents and the absolutely adorable Grandpa Bob, who deserves the biggest hug ever. My heart was so full reading these moments.
Short, sweet, and bursting with warmth, this story wrapped me up like the coziest Christmas blanket, and I genuinely didn’t want it to end. Hands down my favorite Christmas read so far this year.
✨ If you love magical small-town vibes, festive charm, swoony holiday romance, and found family feels, this one is an absolute must-read. ✨🎄🐾

I just finished Mistletoe and Wayward Spells by KP Knupp and had to immediately jump on here to share my 2¢ with you!

This was such a cute, sweet fantasy read for Christmas! I was able to finish it in one cozy afternoon sitting by my Christmas trees, which made it even better. Have a candy cane on hand!

This book can be read as a standalone but it’s actually connected to the author’s The Witch’s Curse which was a similarly sweet romance for Halloween/Samhain (that would be good any time of year!). I loved that first book so of course I jumped at the chance to read this one, and it delivers! It was fun to watch the world of The Witch’s Curse expand to include new places, magics, and family.

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells has all the whimsy of the first story with magical chaos, a little curse, and sweets galore. What is different is the instant love between Becks and Grey! It was so fun to watch them fall for one another as they all enjoy a beautifully witchy Christmas. The family ties and found family bonds are strong in this book and I love how seamlessly the characters from the Witch’s Curse blended into the story without stealing the limelight from the new romance.

Knupp’s books are fun, quick, easy reads that are PACKED with a surprising amount of emotion and details that bring the settings to life. I laughed several times, and enjoyed the banter between all the characters. I hope to see more of this crew in future books! I especially want to learn more about the Selene’s experience at school! Maybe we will get another book in the future, I hope so!

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells
By K. P. Knupp
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A festive firecracker of a story!
Mistletoe and Wayward Spells is the ultimate "cozy-season" transition read. K.P. Knupp manages to capture that specific magic where the crispness of autumn meets the warmth of Christmas.
I loved Becks—she’s a relatable, slightly grumpy fire witch who is just done with the holiday season. Watching her attempt to "fix" her loneliness with a spell, only to accidentally create a town-wide mistletoe crisis, was both hilarious and heart-melting. Grey is the perfect "golden retriever" wizard counterpart to her fire; their chemistry is instant, sweet, and provides exactly the kind of escapism you want in a holiday novella.
If you’re looking for a quick, "Hallmark-movie-but-with-wands" vibe to read by the fireplace, this is it. It’s short, punchy, and leaves you feeling like you’ve just had a warm mug of cocoa.
The Tropes:
* 🪄 Magic Gone Wrong: A wayward spell triples the town’s mistletoe.
* 💋 Kiss or be Cursed: A high-stakes holiday superstition.
* ☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine: A fiery witch meets a charming tree-farmer wizard.
* 🏘️ Small Town Vibes: Set in the magically festive Candy Cane Lane.
* ⚡ Instant Love: Quick, high-intensity romantic chemistry.
* 👪 Found Family: Heartwarming connections with a magical community.

📖 ARC Review 📖

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells was such a fun, cozy chaos-filled holiday read. Becks is the kind of main character I instantly connected with. She is grumpy, magical, overwhelmed by forced cheer, and one mistletoe sighting away from committing arson with fire magic. Her frustration felt relatable, and watching that frustration spiral into a spell gone wildly wrong was equal parts hilarious and endearing.

The accidental curse setup is pure holiday romcom magic. The mistletoe multiplying instead of disappearing sets off a chain of forced proximity moments, awkward tension, and swoony banter. The tree farmer wizard absolutely steals the show with his calm energy, charm, and quiet competence. Their chemistry builds naturally, with plenty of humor and just enough magic-fueled tension to keep things moving at a perfect pace.

This story balances festive vibes with witchy chaos in the best way. It is lighthearted, clever, and full of heart, while still delivering a satisfying romantic arc. If you love holiday magic, reluctant romance, and spells that never go as planned, this one is a perfect seasonal escape.

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells is a quick, witchy, cosy Christmas read that wrapped me in all the warm and fuzzy festive feelings.

Becks heads away on a small Christmas trip with her sister and ends up immersed in old superstitions, cursed mistletoe, and the kind of seasonal magic that makes everything feel a little brighter. When she crosses paths with a local tree farmer, her trip takes an unexpected turn, one filled with humour, charm, and just the right touch of Christmas magic.

Although this is a short story, it is packed with romantic goodness and festive vibes. The witchy elements blend beautifully with the cosy Christmas setting, creating a story that feels comforting, playful, and easy to sink into. It gave me that soft, content feeling that comes from a story that knows exactly what it wants to be.

If you are looking for a light, magical read to curl up with and soak in the festive atmosphere, this story absolutely delivers. I loved it and would have happily kept reading if there had been more.

I received this book as an ARC, however this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings, shared voluntarily.

Ooey-gooey Christmas cheer wrapped in the gift of a book!
Rachel and Becks return in the cute little read as they navigate the holidays - juggling the future with the past while trying to stay present for Christmas.
Becks is not quite as high on the holly and jolly until a chance or maybe fated encounter with Grey - a Christmas tree salesman who manages to ignite a fire in her for once but cautious as ever, Becks is quick to dismantle her own attraction as the season takes a turn.
But for better or worse?
Despite her resistance, Grey is charming in all the very best ways and manages to melt the frosty layers that encompasses Becks heart and spend the day together as they navigate the chaming Christmas town and engage in all the festivities!
A quick romantic gesture has Becks heart heating up as she realizes that Christmas and mistletoe now have a new meaning - now leaving her warmed and not so alone this season.

A sweet, cheerful read that could warm anyone up on the coldest days - recommend a peppermint hot chocolate as you cozy up and experience the magic of Christmas that is Mistletoe and Wayward Spells!

Want a super fast read that both fills your mind with grand and detailed imagery and gets those holiday tastebuds dancing? Then this is your next Christmas novella. In this short, sweet, and to the point story you do get plenty of mischief, candy cane coffees and kisses to render you inside a magical Hallmark movie. Just like all the greats this book fills the reader with the sappy lovestruck best friends, a somewhat hesitant little miss attitude, and the charming stranger that keeps coming around.

I loved that the author included recipes at the end that were discussed in the book multiple times. I find that very appealing as a reader. The fact that this author knows how to envelope every one of your senses from taste to smell to sight, lots of don’t touch this and don’t touch that has you cheering our little witch on as she finds her Christmas groove and struts through a lovely winter wonder land.

I could see this becoming a nice fun and clean series of novellas that span each month giving new adventures to each character keeping the current characters in the storyline too.

I would recommend if you want something quick, cute, fun and sensory for the Christmas season.

This was THE cutest book I have ever read and I am not exaggerating even a little. If I hadn’t fallen asleep last night, I 100% would have read this in one sitting!!!

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells is the definition of a cozy, feel-good Christmas read. It’s festive, magical, joyful, and wrapped up in small-town charm with just the right amount of whimsy. Becks is such a fun FMC: she is a kind of grumpy sunshine who is very much over mistletoe until magic, fate, and a certain gorgeous, joyful MMC has other plans!

The spells, the holiday vibes, the humor, the sweetness ….. everything about this story made me smile. It’s lighthearted without being shallow, romantic without being heavy, and just pure fun from start to finish.

If you love:
Cozy Christmas magic
Witches & spells
Grumpy sunshine energy
Small-town romance
Feel-good, happy reads

Then this one is an absolute must-read. I adored every page and finished it feeling warm, happy, and very much in the holiday spirit. This book cheered me up in a way that made me feel magic!

TEN STARS! ☺️

Book Review: Mistletoe and Wayward Spells by K. P. Knupp🎄🎁✨️

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Christmas. Magic. Mistletoe. And a dream: The perfect combination for a unique, enjoyable Christmas story.

This book was a perfect short read to get into the holiday spirit. And the magic elements add a fun twist to the story. You don't see many Christmas books out there with witches as the main characters, but I love it!

The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was *sizzling* from the moment they first met. The banter was impeccable.

And oh was the story FULL of witchy magic. Everywhere you turned someone had a cool, unique and useful power that made me jealous I'm just a mere mortal.

As the story is only around 73 pages, the plot moves fairly quickly, so you dont have to worry about getting bored.

If you are looking for a fun, holiday romance to read before December ends, I would definitely recommend this book!

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells is the kind of holiday story that understands not everyone finds forced cheer or public mistletoe moments romantic. And honestly? I loved that I could completely relate!

Becks is prickly, powerful, and deeply relatable. Her reaction to Candy Cane Lane feels real, especially when holiday expectations clash with personal baggage. The magic is fun but flawed, the kind that spirals sideways in believable ways, and the mistletoe curse adds just the right amount of tension and humor.

What really worked for me was the balance. The story leans cozy without being sugary, magical without being overly complicated, and romantic without rushing the love. The chemistry builds naturally amid the chaos, making it feel as real as any other romance.

A delightful, quick & witchy holiday read that proves sometimes the best Christmas magic is messy, inconvenient, and a little bit cursed.

This novella is pure holiday joy wrapped in witchy sparkle. It feels like fate put on a Santa hat and decided to work overtime. Think cozy magic, adorable cats (one’s name is Klaus. I mean how perfect is that) plus add in all the feel-good moments, and peppermint cinnamon rolls that had me wishing I could reach through the pages. The recipe may or may not be at the back of the book. You’ll have to read to find out 😉🍬✨

What truly stole my heart was the found family. Every character stands out in their own way and really makes you wish you were there in the story with them. Can’t forget the precious Grandpa Bob. He’s the best!!

- “I’m Grandpa Richard. But my friends call me Bob.” I chuckle. “Why?” He scratches at his mostly gray beard. “You know. I’m not really sure.”

If you love:
🎄 magical small-town vibes
✨ festive witchy charm
💞 swoony holiday romance
🤍 found family feels

Then this book belongs on your holiday TBR. Consider this your Christmas sign—fate (and Santa) insist. 🎄💖✨

What a wonderful, fun Christmas love story! This was so cute.
Becks is a witch, who goes with her sister, Rachel and her boyfriend, Caleb, to the biggest Christmas event in Massachusetts. It is there that a holiday superstition about the mistletoe could curse you for eternity. If you are under the mistletoe and refuse a kiss it could prove not well for you. Becks is having no part of it so she conjures up a spell to get rid of all of the mistletoe but to her surprise it multiplies.
Then she soon meet’s Caleb’s best friend named Grey, who will help her navigate through the mistletoe and feelings she wasn’t expecting. He is the tree farmer wizard that that gets caught in Becks spell and their love story begins. This story has love, family and magic. It is a warm, cozy, grab a coffee and blanket sort of read. It was a sweet, quick read. Perfect for the holiday.

Insta love Christmas romance

It was an enjoyable Christmas short story. I loved the scene setting, the connection the fmc had with the family she visited and the relationship with her best friend.

I just wish the romance would have had a little depth to it. He had already fallen in love with her without meeting her, and she went off with it with no issue. I'm partial to an insta love, but this was next level. I don't think I could tell you one reason why these two should be together apart from the need for it in the plot.

Equally, I wish we had some more back story on the curse. This could have been developed quite nicely. We still don't know why the fmc heard giggling, why it was only her, and who it was.

As it stands, it's an okay Christmas read. But if those two elements were worked on, it could be fantastic.

5⭐️ ( or my son said it should get 5 golden rings)

Anyone searching for a little Christmas magic needs to read this book! From the prologue all the way to the epilogue you won’t be able to stop smiling!

I thought I loved Caleb and Rachel from A Witches Curse but Grey and his Little Christmas Witch have the new top spot. And of course no witchy book is complete without a cat sidekick. This quick and easy holiday read is so full of magic, family and love.

Perfect for readers who like:
A picturesque Christmas town
Snowball fights
A F*it moment ( from her)
Lots and lots of mistletoe

Leaving you with my favorite quote:

I received a copy from the author, all opinions are my own.

"Mistletoe and Wayward Spells" was a cute and fun little witchy Christmas novella. Here we get Becks story. In "The Witch's Curse", we met Becks as Rachel's best friend, the sister of her heart. That was Rachel's love story, and now it's Becks turn.

In a town that goes all out for Christmas, Becks is excited to join in all the fun and magic. Here she meets Grey, a handsome witch who runs a Christmas tree farm. He definitely falls first for Beck as he shows her around town. Rambunctious cats, a spell gone wrong, and a found family that opens their arms to Becks make this a charming and fun book to read while curled up with a cup of hot chocolate. Do yourself a favor and take an hour or two to read this little novella.

Becks & Grey.

Becks heads home with her sister to spend time with her sister's boyfriend and family for the holidays. Becks is not a holiday person. Even more so she doesn't like mistletoe and this town has lore behind mistletoe.

Becks is your typical grump that doesn't really WANT to do anything Christmas related but is pulled into activities and into spending time with Grey. Grey is the perfect upbeat, witty, smiling character that encourages Becks to just go along with it because it's going to happen whether she wants it to or not.

Fate and all that..

Mistletoe and Wayward Spells is the perfect novella to kick off the holiday season even if you're a little late to the party.

Thank you to the author for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

My god another author that’s just blown it out of the water! How K.P. Was able to put so much feeling and detail into a novella with less than 100 pages is beyond me. This was a book that was a little out of my zone, it was super cute and fluffy, with no spice but I do not regret reading this one bit! The instant connection and familiarity between Grey and Becks had me hooked and feeling all the warm fuzzies! Add in magic, chaotic familiars, and some incredible friends and this book has become one of my top holiday reads of 2025!

Arc Review I absolutely loved this book! It was such a cute and cozy holiday novella that instantly put me in the festive spirit. The story follows Becks, a witch who is determined to rid her town of mistletoe using her fire magic, but her spell goes terribly wrong, setting off a chain of unexpected events. Enter Grey, who brings warmth, charm, and a bit of much needed holiday magic back into Becks’ life.

I really enjoyed watching Becks’ journey as she slowly lets go of her frustration and rediscovers the joy of the season. I loved peppermint mocha vibes, the cat vibes, and just all around feel good holiday vibes😊🎄

This was such a cute little holiday novella! It was a quick read, but even so, I felt pulled in and still easily connected with the characters. I love that Becks has fire and telekinesis, she's totally the kind of witch I'd want to be if I could pick my magic. Grey was such a sweetheart and I loved to see him winning Becks (and Klaus) over with his charm. The Christmas town setting and the mistletoe curse just added those perfect cozy holiday vibes. About to go get a peppermint mocha after reading this one!

Thank you so much to the author for the advanced copy!

I received a copy of the book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

It was a nice read, this is for sure. The characters were easy to love, and the storyline...was okay. It could've been better with a few more chapters though, as to not make you feel like you were chased down by a wolf while reading the story, but otherwise everything was good.

I loved that we had a Grinchy, witch - which you don't usually find in another stories - who in the end found a reason to love the holiday.

A cute Christmas read, I think this is part of a series but can be read alone, you just don't know the backstory of the characters as much as you would if read as part of the set.

I like Becks and Grey, they seem cute together and with a Christmassy feel, it makes you warm inside. I like the witchy aspect to this, Becks is a fire witch, Grey can teleport, both useful traits!

Mistletoe is Becks' nemesis, the guys around town try and take advantage by trying to kiss her under the mistletoe but Grey is her knight in shining armour.

I will look out for more from this author!
