Sarah J. Maas is the #1 bestselling author of the Throne of Glass, Court of Thorns and Roses, and Crescent City series. Her books have sold millions of copies and are published in thirty-eight languages. She lives in New York City with her family.
I loved this book compared to book 2. It hard for me to have patience and just want everything to happen and want all of the answers but after this book I have appreciation for the set up of book 2. I am enjoying this series more and more.
I loved this one so much more than book no. 2. It kept me on my toes, the connections between characters were deeper and more heartfelt and I really didn’t even want the story to end.
(Listened as audiobook narrated by Amanda Leigh Cobb - probably the way she delivered it also added an extra dimension to my experience with the book)
A Court of Wings and Ruin felt huge and emotional in the best possible way. The story balances massive battles and high-stakes moments with quieter, deeply personal scenes that really stay with you. Nothing feels rushed or glossed over. Every choice has weight, and every win comes at a cost.
Sarah J. Maas does such a good job showing what leadership and sacrifice actually look like. You feel the pressure, the fear, and the exhaustion that come with it, and that makes everything hit harder. When things are won, it feels earned because the losses along the way are real and never minimized.
By the end, I was emotionally spent but in a good way. This book truly cements the series as epic fantasy with heart. It’s big, it’s painful, it’s beautiful and it lingers with you long after you finish.
1,5⭐ First quarter of the book was good but then I just gradually started to dislike most of the characters and their melodrama. 90% of the book I was listening to a group of characters plotting a move for 3 chapters or telling about a story of other characters we didn't even meet. I think its the first book I read in my life that has so freaking much telling and not showing. The fact that I didn't really like the world, the magic and the politics in here was also a reason for downgrade. Now when I thought about what character annoyed me the most I was surprised to realise that it wasn't Feyra nor Nesta but Rhysand... Sorry but he glazed Feyra too much and was too much of a "tragic self-sacrificing hero" wannabe :/
This is my 3rd favourite book in the series, but it's still 5 ⭐'s for me and the one that makes me cry the most, I love the continuation of Rhys and Feyre's story and the story in general, but it's when I fall in love so much more with other characters too, Az, Lucien & Eris (I will put a bet on there being so much more to Eris and can't wait to find out) and of course Nesta & Cassian 💗"I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time." *melt & cry* but it's so much more than that the last battle makes me sob, I just love the whole book! and the 10th anniversary edition narrated by Elizabeth Evans, I think made me cry more at times,
Bonne lecture
Utterly average, I enjoyed the second book a lot more. The coming out of a queer woman was incredibly stilted and the amount of plottwist at the end rivals any trashy anime. It's a decent read, but the depth is shallow at best

I love how this series doesn’t end on cliffhangers, it just leaves you with unanswered questions. It makes me feel like it’s ok if I don’t get to the next book for a while, but if you’re invested in the characters you will keep coming back to get those questions answered!
Read it in 4 days. Wish something’s happened differently but I was enthralled and addicted to finishing it. Since I’m coming in late to the game and only now reading them 2026 I’ve decided to read the whole series back to back. And even though I know it was dumb. I even cried at one part.
