Demon's Call: The Nevermore Casefiles

Rate this book
A demon’s plot.
A deadly assassin.
Four unlikely allies against the forces of Hell.

Amid relentless monsters, fey alliances, and explosive magical battles, Jake Foster—a man tormented by his past and his own powers—must choose between surrendering to chaos or leading a desperate quest to reclaim his soul.

With the help of a Homeland Security agent, a professor of magic, and a scared half-demon kid, will Jake conquer the darkness, or be devoured by it?

Demon's Call is the pulse-pounding debut of The Nevermore Casefiles, a series set in a world where the veil between the mundane and the monstrous is alarmingly thin.

I’m on the hunt with already published books to find the perfect (for me) type of urban fantasy I love, and I tried this author. This definitely hit the mark. Navarro, Jake, and Sebastian (and others) are working against the clock to stop an archdemon from taking over the world. I appreciated that real people make real mistakes or believe things they shouldn’t in this book. People were people. While there were times where I was a little confused in some scenes, and some scenes didn’t seem to really matter, I overall just really liked this fast-paced, action-filled urban fantasy and can’t wait to read more. Highly recommend.

I ram rating this 3.5⭐️ after receiving an advance review copy for free. This is my voluntarily review.

I enjoy the lore of heaven and hell, angels and demons, so the premise of this book was intriguing to me. I really enjoyed the blend of modern world and the Supernatural. The main characters were broad, and the magic system was unique.

I was slightly disappointed in the flow of the book. At times it was difficult for me to know who was speaking and where/when. There was a lot of jumping around that left me befuddled.

Overall, it was a good book where the paranormal meets reality, and where demons and faeries struggle to pay bills just like the rest of us. The enternal struggle of good vs evil hindered by red tape and the occasional spell. Bravo to the author for creating such a unique story.
