Demi, Skia, Missy, Ags, and the rest of their newfound witchy family prepare for the winter solstice and practice magic.
As Demi is about to find a focus to help them use magic, Agatha’s Emporium is robbed. Demi and Skia hurry after the culprit into a snowy city. But, as usual, things aren’t always as they seem.
I’m so sad that this story was as short as it was, because it was so cute! Skia was as funny as ever, and Demi has yet again, gained themselves another witchy friend, perfect for the winter solstice that they were celebrating. If you liked the first 3 short stories of this series, then you’ll really like this too, I promise!^^
Love these stories Just right for a quick read - filled with friendship, magic, family, friendly sneeze demons, other assorted critters, witches, and excitement. Magic is becoming more important in the world, and learning to use it is a big part of the stories. Highly recommend!
“Deck the Paws” brings the Spooky Cat crew back just in time for the winter solstice, blending holiday magic with another round of supernatural trouble. Demi, Skia, Missy, Agatha, and their growing witchy family are settling into seasonal traditions and honing their magic when everything goes sideways—Agatha’s Emporium is suddenly robbed, sending Demi and Skia racing through a snowy city in pursuit. As expected, nothing about the situation is as straightforward as it first appears.
I enjoyed the cozy, wintry atmosphere and the focus on magical practice and found family. The solstice setting adds a nice seasonal touch, and the familiar group dynamics remain one of the story's stronger elements. That said, the plot felt a bit lighter than I expected. While the mystery had potential, some twists resolved too quickly, and I wanted a little more tension and payoff, especially given the buildup around Demi finding a magical focus.
Overall, “Deck the Paws” is a pleasant, low-stakes installment in the series. It’s a quick, festive read that will appeal most to fans already invested in these characters, even if it doesn’t push the story forward in a big way. Cozy, cute, and enjoyable—but not quite a standout. -3 Stars
