Quite informative, even if a bit condensed in tracing literary history and oversimplified when it comes to literary criticism. Still an insightful and all-encompassing introduction for novice readers. Would definitely recommend to new students of literature.

Good for those who are just being introduced to the study (not just casual reading) of literature. However, if you're a university student that already knows the basics, this will (likely) not add much to your knowledge.

A great book that covers the basics of literary studies. More suited for entry-level students.
