Asaki Takamori (高森朝樹, Takamori Asaki), known by the pen names Ikki Kajiwara (梶原一騎, Kajiwara Ikki) and Asao Takamori (高森朝雄, Takamori Asao), was a Japanese mangaka.
The wrap up of the worst storyline segues into one of the best (so I had to knock stars, when half of this volume is 5* material). Obviously it was important to have the feral fight in there as the buildup for the fight against Mendoza, as well as the buildup to the Punch drunk storyline were important and has been, frankly superb. The fight was fine too, and Joe did stop calling him monkey eventually, at least ... so that was good. But I love the way this segues with the Youko revelation and, whilst we knew this was coming the eventual scene that handled it felt dramatic and wonderful - Joe is still being a d*ck and I groaned, but it felt in character that he'd want to throw his life away over a boxing match whilst someone else confesses their love to him. Kinda moving, really. Can't believe I'm nearly there with this series - phew!
