My Review: Accidental Assassin, Vol. 1 by Molly Ni Chéileachair is "A WEBTOON Unscrolled Graphic Novel." It is categorized as "Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga | Mystery & Thrillers | Romance." This first volume is scheduled for release on 9/1/26.
This first volume collects episodes 1 to 14 of the hit WEBTOON Accidental Assassin.
About the Book: "Set in present day Ireland...
Accidental Assassin features fast-paced action, a slow burn enemies-to-lovers romance, and fun hijinks."
In My Own Words: An unsuspecting civilian with a curious upbringing is caught unaware by a dark shadow. When she defends herself and gets the drop on the culprit, a whole new world of possibilities soon opens up for her. Her new life, new identity, new experiences, and new partner bring the pain... plus a whole lot more.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
❤️ - Strong Leads 🚨 - Action-packed ✨ - Entertaining 🎨 - Stunning Artwork / Visual Artistry 🔐 - Great World Building 💯 - Original 🔍 - Dark Shadow/Suspense Vibe 👀 - Page-turner ❓️ - Unpredictable
My Final Say: This was sensational! I loved the protagonist so much. Bonnie may seem mild-mannered and unassuming at a glance, but the girl has got some fire and a bit of sass. I believe there are even more layers to her. Ronan better get a clue. (You know!)
And speaking of Ronan... Sign me up for tall, broody, and hot with a side order of attitude and arrogance! He was a great counter to Bonnie. It was easy to feel the tension between them. There was something subtle present (not too much, not too little; it was just right). I am looking forward to see how his character evolves.
This volume was filled with what I am assuming were a ton of Easter eggs. My mind went right along for the ride. I did not want to miss a thing with the action, the behind the scenes play (which kept me guessing the entire time), and with the potential triangle-to-boot. (Wahoo!) I was so invested that I came up with all the scenarios of what could happen.
Fianna was a ghost organization that existed in plain sight. Can it get any better than that?! The covert, undercover organization of assassins with a noble intent (or is it???) rocked.
I found it interesting that the matter of partners, trust, & friends and enemies laid the groundwork in the way that it did. I also found that ending to be (whoop whoop) fantastic!!! I cannot wait to see how it all plays out in the future. (I sense a betrayal somewhere in the ranks. Dun dun duuun!)
In terms of the artwork and illustrations, every single one was on point. The layout, the design, the colors, the movement, the emphasis on character placement and strategic tools used, the thoughts and the words - they were perfect. The story popped with a major bang.
Book 1 of Accidental Assassin is a hit!
Other: Potential readers should be mindful that this is an OYA/T+ graphic novel. 🛑 Content warnings apply.

I had such a great time reading this graphic novel. It was a little outside of what my usual scope is so that was a really nice change. The art work is absolutely gorgeous and as someone obsessed with Ireland, I was immediately interested once I knew it was set there. Bonnie didn’t have a conventional upbringing, her dad spent most of the time teaching her how to survive and protect herself. She’s now an accounting intern at a fintech company in Ireland. After she inadvertently foils a theft an assassination attempt while working late one night, she finds herself being recruited by a secret organization called Fianna who are interested in one of her firm’s top and most paranoid clients Mr. Adams. Bonnie and her friend Wesley are quickly reassigned to work solely on Mr. Adams accounts in the Dublin City center office. Bonnie must balance her life as an accountant with her secret training as a Fianna agent with her reluctant partner Ronan. This was fast paced, and so interesting. Bonnie’s childhood training proved be useful enough to keep her alive and gain Fianna’s interest but the hard work is now getting started. Ronan is reluctant to say the least, he thinks he works better alone and sees Bonnie as a liability. The chemistry between these two is definitely electric and it’s giving very “they’re either going to fall madly and passionately in love or kill each other”. I have nothing but good things to say about this book and I can’t wait for the next volume. I think secret assassins might definitely be my jam now.
Thank you to NetGalley, WEBTOON Unscrolled, and Molly Ni Chéileachair, VI (Illustrator) for the opportunity to read and review an Advance Reader Copy of this book!
I really liked this comic!! This introduction was quick, easy to digest, and super easy to get sucked into. From the very beginning, I was fully invested in the story and the characters.
I LOVE anything involving spies, assassins, secret organizations, or undercover missions, so this was already right up my alley. And then you add in the VERY obvious romance tension happening between the characters?? YES PLEASE. Give me MORE immediately.
I also really enjoyed the art style throughout the comic. It balanced the humor and the more serious moments so well. The funny expressions and lighter scenes made the characters feel so charming, but when the story needed to get serious, the artwork shifted perfectly to match the tone. I especially loved the mix of tension, light hatred/rivalry, and underlying chemistry between the characters because it made every interaction feel entertaining.
Overall, this was such a fun start to the series, and I’m already excited to continue reading and see where both the action and romance go next.
Thank you again to NetGalley, WEBTOON Unscrolled, and Molly Ni Chéileachair, VI (Illustrator) for the opportunity to read and review an Advance Reader Copy of this book!
Part time corporate girlie, full-time lover of all things cute, Bonnie's ordinary girl persona is actually more than meets the eye - and her unusual resume gets put through its paces when la late-night office attack forces to showcase a remarkable set of skills cultivated over her childhood, Liam Neeson-style. And the skills get her the second job - as an apprentice at Fianna, a secret organization of assassins inspired by a group of legendary Irish heroes who corral the chaos of an evil ridden world by any means necessary. But this new job isn't all sunshine and pastel plushies - her new partner, Ronan Clarke think's she's nothing more than a joke. It'll take all of her can-do attitude to survive both her training, and her missions against the Irish underworld's deadliest forces.
I love a lighthearted assassin story, and this book definitely slaked my thirst for "I'm just a girl" meets "unresolved childhood trauma morphing into the kind of secondary skill sets weirdos on LinkedIn like to monologue about", in the best way! Fast-paced and with a healthy slug of reluctant-coworkers-to-??? with a side serving of workplace-friends-turned-??? tropes, this was a fun and sometimes dark starter to a series I'll definitely be following! I think this would also be a great jumping off point for those who don't read a lot of graphic novels but who'd like to start!
Bonnie Bailey is an office worker who is just trudging through her boring life in an accountant-adjacent job in Ireland, crushing on her best friend, when she finds herself pulled into a world of handsome assassins and gorgeous secret agents. Fortunately, her father trained her with a very particular set of skills so she's ready to swim with the sharks.
WEBTOON books are usually pretty reliable for me, but this one doesn't quite satisfy. It feels too much like that silly Argylle movie with Bryce Dallas Howard from a couple years back. For an intel mission to the docks, for instance, Bonnie armors up in high heels and a long skirt with a slit up to her crotch and visible straps for her shoulder holster under her suit jacket. I can imagine Marisa Tomei looking her up and down in the shipping yard and sneering, "Oh, yeah, you blend."
So cheesy, but in the gooey and sticky way, not the fun way.
On the plus side, it's a quick read. I picked it up meaning to only read the first half, but when my allotted time was up, I only needed ten more minutes to get to the end, so I forged ahead.

She was not supposed to be still at work at that time. What was supposed to be just some overtime ended up becoming a demonstration of her special survivor abilities. That night, Bonnie meets Ronan, an assassin working for Fianna, a secret organization who ends up taking notice of her special set of skills and recruits her as an apprentice and Ronan's partner.
Great art work, action-packed story from the beginning. Although the text gets a bit repetitive at some moments, the story progressed at a good pace and kept me hooked until the end. The action and violence are not overly graphic, remaining quite light for this type of story. I just wished it would have been divided into chapters, to help with the flow. Also, in this type of comics or graphic novels, I find the characters are portrayed in a way that they just sound dense, a bit too naive. The style is imitating manga but sometimes the characters, specially the main female one, instead of being quirky and cute, seem immature and childish but want to be taken seriously at the same time.
Overall, it is entertaining and fun. Ronan and Bonnie are a great pair!
"Accidental Assassin" follows Bonnie, a young woman working in Fintech with a strange upbringing. Asked to work late at the office, Bonnie stumbles upon a break-in/assassination, and manages to save herself, which impresses a secret assassin organization. She must decide whether or not to take the opportunity the present her with; continue her mundane job, or join the assassins to help protect her country.
This was cute and very well done. The story was very clearly laid out. The artwork and the paneling were done well - I never had an issue trying to figure out what was going on due to the clear and exceptional layout of each panel. The art itself was appealing, though personal preference I would have like a touch more pops of color. However the artwork was stunning, I loved the style, and it was clear who each character was because they were so distinct from one another.
The story itself was very interesting; it reminds me of a modern day spy family. This novel was the setup, I'd assume in the next installment we get to see Bonnie + her companions in more action.

This was a really fun start to a series, and I can't wait to see where the story goes in Volume 2. This volume was essential for establishing the characters and their dynamics with each other, and the "background information" so to speak. The end hinted at the real action starting in the next volume, and I can't wait to see Bonnie and Roman work together—which is what I'm most excited to see. Roman was the typical grumpy MMC who is serious and dresses in all black, the opposite to Bonnie's sunshine personality and the bright colors she wears—but she's more than what she seems. They clearly have a dislike of each other, and are forced to work together, which is one of my favorite tropes, and I can't wait to watch a romance develop between them. I loved all the details in the panels, from Bonnie's hair and jewelry, to the characters outfits, to Roman's scar. The art style is perfect, and there is so much potential in the next Graphic Novel in the series.
Action. Adventure. She’s just a girl. But also, she was trained by her father from a very young age on how to survive. She works in corporate accounting, but she just audits the files… she doesn’t actually do the accounting portion. When she gets caught in the middle of break-in while working late where an agent of a secret organization is sent in to stop international espionage, she does what her father taught her and survives. Which also catches the eye of that secret agency.
Bonnie is recruited into the Fianna. Where their normal recruits are military trained, she does not and her new partner lets her know constantly. Ronan might have been part of the reason she lived through her experience, he now has to be the one to make sure she can hack it as an assassin. And by all accounts, he thinks she’s a liability.
This has incredible artwork. If only just for that, I would be happy. I did also really enjoy the story, but I’m one for the whole spy recruitment book or movie. It’s always the person you’d least expect, like the accountant. 😂 So is it the most original? No. But I love it, so who cares?
Thank you to Edelweiss and WebToon Unscrolled for my gifted eARC.
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for an ARC of Accidental Assassin, Vol 1.
As a big fan of The Mafia Nanny, I was excited to dive into this one! Bonnie is a young woman with an unconventional childhood - her dad was very focused on teaching her survival skills and preparing her for the world. She's working in Accounts Receivable (not an accountant! ha) at a FinTech company in Ireland when she's presented with the opportunity to join a shadow organization as an assassin.
This was a fun read that I have no issues recommending to anyone that enjoys a little action, a little romantic tension, and a little snark. The art is nice though I do sometimes like my characters to have more grit - the shading/color tones create very smooth looking skin, if that makes sense. I appreciate Bonnie's character more as the story advances and her character develops. Also, I have a feeling that our (assumed) MMC Ronan is quite the cinnamon roll, we'll see! I'm looking forward to see how the story progresses now that the foundation is built.
This is a promising start to a spy series, and I would pick up the next volume. It gives off vibes similar to the TV show "Covert Affairs," or at least I can hope that it continues in that vein. Bonnie is a likeable protagonist to me. She's bored with her life and wants excitement, and she loves bright colors, fun earrings, and yummy food, but she isn't shallow. I'd be interested in seeing not only how Bonnie improves in her training, but how/if she manages to balance her lightness with the encroaching dark of covert work. While Ronan is tall, dark, and brooding, I was more annoyed by his grumpy-sunshine dynamic with Bonnie, which felt contrived to maintain tension through romantic tension whereas I'm more interested in the overarching plot.
The art is nothing special, and a little bit sparse and flat with the coloring, which is often the case with webtoon-style comics, but it is solid manga-style. It portrays Bonnie's feelings well, and the action layouts convey motion well.

Bonnie has a boring life/job. Her bestie might be taking advantage of her but he’s a cutie and Bonnie is kind of a pushover. But one day someone comes into her office bringing trouble and Bonnie goes full blown John Wick on their asses. And of course this gives her an all expenses paid offer from a secret assassin organization and a partnership with a hot but brooding agent. They don’t seem to get along or like each other but, dear reader, I think they do! Will they, won’t they? I need to know!
I was so into this and, lord, I need more. Art style was on point. The tension between the two main characters was great. Main plot was cool and kept me interested. Nothing too gory, just right.
This was a fast-pased and quick read for me. I'm a lover for mystery/action/thriller books (including graphic novels). While I enjoyed this story, I felt like it was missing something and that's why I'm rating it 4 stars.
I love the illustrations and plot. However, I'm confused about Bonnie. She was "trained" by her father since she was little yet throughout the book, she struggled with self-defense and protecting herself...
Maybe she was faking she was weak in order not to stand out and grab Ronan's attention?
Then again, this is a mystery book so the beginning can be confusing. I'd love to learn more about Boonie's and Ronan's past! Cannot wait for the character development to begin!

Accidental assassin starts off pretty strong, with the main characters meeting right away under conflicting circumstances. We see a bit of the fmc background that gives us insight on why she is to agree on joining the finna. Loved how the bickering between Ronan and Bonnie starts right away and their dislike is shown both for different reasons but you can’t help but laugh at everything they say or do. The illustration makes this experience 1000x better, with the different arts that are portrayed- from cutsie, and then going back to normal everything is felt through the facial expressions. I can’t wait to see more !
Bonnie is stuck in a job that doesn’t seem to excite her, she gets an opportunity to do something thrilling and prove who’s she is. She’s not a fragile girl but someone who can hold herself up. Ronan doubts her but are forced to work with each other.
I need more. 🤍

Accidental Assassin, Vol. 1 is an absolute blast: stylish, fast paced, and packed with the kind of chaotic energy that makes graphic novels so addictive. Molly Ní Chéileachair and illustrator VI deliver a sharp, vibrant story that blends humor, action, and character chemistry in a way that keeps you turning pages without realizing how quickly time passes.
The art is expressive and dynamic, the pacing tight, and the premise, an ordinary person stumbling into the world of assassins, is executed with charm and flair. It’s the kind of graphic novel that feels effortless to read but leaves you wanting more the moment you hit the last page.
If you’re looking for a fun, engaging, visually striking read, this is an easy five stars.
Aesthetically, ACCIDENTAL ASSASSIN, is brightly colored, and well drawn with crisp, clear lines. The characters are well-fleshed, likable, and nicely expressive. As a graphic novel, ACCIDENTAL ASSASSIN is superbly balanced, giving it a *fuller* feel—There is a LOT of story packed in these pages—which I tend to find in Webtoon graphic novels. A.A., Vol 1 is action packed, witty, dramatic, and it looks like it’s on its way to having a *gasp* love triangle 🫣
I was sorely disappointed when I reached the point where I clicked for the next page and nothing happened. I need Volume 2 now! Please and thank you.

What's it about? Bonnie works at a accounting firm in Ireland. What her coworkers don't know is that her dad trained her as a young child in all kinds of self defense and survival skills. When someone shady people break into her office after hours, she's drawn into a whole underground world of assassins, secret services and criminal activity going on right under their noses.
What did I think? I really like the art. Bonnie is adorable. The story was fun, engaging and unexpected. I like the banter between Bonnie and Ronin. The grumpy sunshine thing is cute. Excited for the next volume.
This was a fantastic first volume for a new graphic novel series! I really loved the secret assassin plot line and taking a girl from the average world and making her into one. Bonnie has such an interesting and so far unexplored backstory that I cannot wait to look deeper into. Ronan is also a character I can't wait to see more about. Ronan and Bonnie have such good chemistry that it created a really intriguing beginning for this series. I also really like the setting being in Ireland since I feel like I haven't seen many stories set there before. Overall, this was a great intro to a new series and I am super excited to continue, as this has amazing potential!
A fast fun read. The art style is a mix of adorable and fast moving action. Gotta love the range here - martial arts and strawberry earrings.
Appearances can be deceiving and I'm incredibly intrigued by our FMCs childhood. The brief glimpses make her "accidental" status a bit too coincidental. The tension between her and the MMC is fun and I can't wait to see it explode.
This is an exciting start to a series I'm hoping continues to jump into the action. Fun mix of corporate espionage, backhand deals, and secret organizations that run the world.
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group | WEBTOON Unscrolled for this ARC!
It’s a promising start to what I assume is going to be an action romance series. The art is appealing, but since this is the first volume, not much happened aside from the female lead being recruited into a covert spy/assassin operation.
The dynamic between the two main characters is familiar enough. Nice girl with surprising skills meets serious, jaded, broody dude in need of a partner.
I’m curious about what happens next, but I'm not fully hooked, so that’s why this only gets three stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for providing me with an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was fun! I like an FMC who can handle herself. I liked the concept of the Fianna and how much detail they went into about the organization.
I didn’t feel I got a good enough picture of the characters. It didn’t feel like much happened but it’s just volume 1. And I don’t mean it was uneventful, just that what did happen didn’t lay enough groundwork for me to be invested in the characters.
It was an enjoyable read nevertheless. I look forward to seeing volume 2 build upon the characters and their relationship.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you, NetGalley for sending me an advanced reader's copy.
I had never heard of this webtoon before getting the ARC, but I am a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers spy romance. I don't think there is much to say about the first volume. It is setting up the story and characters, but there isn't much going on. It feels like a good little introduction. We meet our two main characters and get a feeling for their personalities, but not much background or main plot yet.
If the other volumes were out, I would be binging them for sure.
Thank you to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Accidental Assassin pulled me in with its vibrant illustrations and kept me sat for the plot! As someone who has been painstakingly waiting for the never-ending hiatus of Purple Hyacinth, I have to say that this somewhat scratches that itch!
I loved the dynamic between our two main characters (somewhat like Yor and Loid, but they both know the other is a spy/assassin).
This is a webtoon I would see myself spending coins on! Can't wait to see where things go next!
A fast paced story that introduces the world of assassins to an accountant just trying to live her life. As graphic novels go, it usually takes a couple books to understand the foundation of the story. This did great in breaking that expectation with clear introduction of characters, plot and motive. The pacing of the panels between action and dialogue scenes were drawn in a way that made movement clear. It helped build the suspense of some moments. The only thing that truly upset me was that there is only one book currently to read. I am excited for this story to continue!
Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC of Accidental Assassin. This graphic novel follows Bonnie, whose unusual upbringing leaves her with a very particular skill set that becomes unexpectedly useful when she gets caught up in a dangerous situation. The artwork was vibrant and expressive, mixing beautifully detailed panels with humorous visual moments, and the story itself was fast-paced, engaging, and a really fun quick read.
Overall this was a really interesting first volume! I do think it wasn’t as fast-paced as I hoped, but it was still unique. I loved the Irish lore aspects. The characters were pretty cool but not incredibly remarkable. And the plot was decently basic besides the lore.
It’s a toss up if I will be continuing the series. Maybe if I can read it from the library.
The artwork in “Accidental Assassin, Vol. 1” is absolutely stunning. It is one of those graphic novels that makes you forget to read the words because you are soaking in the artwork.
The story is really good. I laughed at several parts of it and was looking forward to each action scene. I can’t wait till we see where the story goes from here.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing an ARC for an unbiased review.
I aspire to be exactly like Bonnie in this kick-ass graphic novel. Bonnie proves that you can be both soft and hard while never compromising yourself.
This is filled with spies, non stop action, and swoon worthy tension.
I have loved this Accidental Assassin for a long time over on webtoon and I am always so pumped when these amazing titles get picked up for graphic novel printing.
Loved the art, loved the Irish setting, and definitely getting a little bit of Mafia Nanny vibes, though Bonnie has a bit of room to grow with her skills. I can see this series becoming a favorite, just need a little more time for the characters to develop. Especially Ronan.
This graphic novelization of the popular Webtoon is perfect for fans of action, spies, mysteries and a hint of attraction between the leads. This is a super fun series and I hope more people will read it now that it has a novel version.
