- for the last 7 years she’s had nightmares of a ferus chasing her and clawing her back.

To the North called The Wilds there are giant half man half beasts called ferus. Sharp teeth, long claws, detained behind the Wall of Wilds.

The nightmare this night had a new clue. He wore a shirt saying Deke’s Goldwood Tavern. She finds it online, packs a bag and visits.

A soldier in the town takes her for a tour. In reality he assaults her.

Tauren hears her screaming and saves her.

I liked it but after 60% I lost interest. Also why would she go to an art gallery if she lives in the wilds now and nobody from the human world is allowed to know they exist and aren’t feral? Her making contact with Carol at the end baffles me. And everything felt predictable like let’s just ignore everything and not say anything to extend the pages of the book.

What if what she thinks will happen doesn't have to?

Commentary: Eh. I liked this author's other series, but this was a touch too predictable. I felt that the bad guy was obvious, the outcome was forgone, and it's not that I needed a twist, but a little more tension would have been useful to the story.

Von dem Auftaktband der neuen „The Wilds“ Reihe von Callie Rhodes wollte ich mich vollkommen überraschen lassen. Grundsätzlich wusste ich ungefähr, auf was ich mir hier einlasse, weshalb ich im vollsten Vertrauen auf die Autorin sogar die Kurzzusammenfassung ausgelassen und mich direkt ins Lesevergnügen gestürzt habe. Die Überraschung war dann auch wirklich groß, denn Callie Rhodes hat mich mit ihrer Idee zu dieser Reihe richtiggehend umgehauen.
Im Gegensatz zu „The Boundarylands“ und „The Unchained Omegaverse“ hat Callie Rhodes hier eine vollkommen neue Welt erschaffen, in der Ferus (Alphas) und Kirre (normale Menschen) durch eine Mauer getrennt voneinander in unterschiedlichen Gebieten und auf vollkommen unterschiedliche Art und Weise leben.
Tauren und Hannah haben bereits seit Jahren prophetische Träume von einander, die allerdings unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Hannah ist auch nicht im Entferntesten bewusst, dass der Name, den sie jede Nacht in ihren Träumen schreit, der Name eines Alphas ist. Letztendlich macht sie sich jedoch von diesen Träumen getrieben auf den Weg ins Ungewisse, wo sie unter verhängnisvollen Umständen auf Tauren trifft. Die Geschichte der beiden ist richtig gut und hat mich nicht losgelassen. Die hier geschaffen Welt finde ich sehr aufregend und das Hannah als erste Kirre den Wandel zu einer Omega durchmacht und damit offensichtlich einen Stein ins Rollen bringt, war erfrischend neu und hat mich voll abgeholt.
Sowohl die neue Welt als auch der Handlungsstrang rund um Tauren und Hanna haben mir wirklich gut gefallen. Das Buch ist auch länger, als ich es von der Autorin normalerweise gewohnt bin, was den Charakteren und der Geschichte natürlich mehr Tiefe und Raum geboten hat. Leider war mir der Höhepunkt rund um das große Ende dann doch etwas zu abrupt und flach, weshalb es „nur“ 4 Sterne von mir gibt.

It is forbidden for the two to be together. Yet the Fates gave them visions of each other. Hannah remembers a detail of her nightmare that leads her to the man whose name she calls out to save her.

Tauren is the alpha we all want. He will fight for his mate even if it is his own father. He confident that he will win. Hannah doesn't want anything to happen to Tauren. I love both of these characters and this story is life changing. I recommend this book.

So excited

I was so excited to see a new series released by this author. Callie Rhodes is by far my favorite romance author. And this book did not disappoint. Loved the characters, the danger, and of course the steamy scenes. Only downside is I'll have to be more patient waiting as the other books in this series are released. But I know the wait will be worth it.

Pretty good first book with a fairly unique premise. I'm deducting a star because I feel the ending felt really rushed and I personally wanted more romance and smut and bonding, but still a pretty good read!

WOW ! To have such a terrible nightmare

One of the best sci-fi books I’ve read. It is so interesting and an excellent love story as well. It has a heck of a surprise ending.
